ABSTRACT

In the former work, the histogram was effectively used to improve the interference immunity of target velocity estimation based on the cross-spectrum. This paper proposes a new method to eliminate the bias introduced by the histogram and to further improve interference immunity. The equalization window is designed to preserve the cross-spectrum peaks while suppressing the interference peaks. All frequency points are compensated and accumulated to improve the interference immunity. Finally, the simulation and sea trial data verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in this paper.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The aim of the present study was to re-evaluate the diagnostic value and optimal cutoff point of captopril challenge test (CCT) in diagnosis of primary aldosteronism (PA). Methods: This is a retrospective study. All patients with a high risk for PA underwent screening test, and then proceeded to CCT and fludrocortisone suppression test (FST) on different days. The FST was used as a reference standard for PA. The plasma renin concentration (PRC) and plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) were measured with an automated chemiluminescence immunoassay. Random number method was performed in the patients with unilateral primary aldosteronism (UPA), in order to make the proportion of the analyzed UPA in PA was 35%. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses were performed to compare diagnostic accuracy. Results: A total of 543 patients with 400 PA patients and 143 essential hypertension (EH) patients were enrolled. The diagnostic value of post-CCT PAC was significantly higher than that of the post-CCT plasma aldosterone-renin ratio (ARR), and that of the PAC suppression percentage, respectively. The area under the ROC curve (AUCROC) was 0.86 (0.83, 0.89) for PAC, 0.78 (0.74, 0.82) for ARR, and 0.62 (0.56, 0.67) for the PAC suppression percentage (all P<0.01), respectively. The optimal cutoff point of post-CCT PAC for PA was 110 ng/L, in which the sensitivity and specificity were 73.25% and 79.02%, respectively. The diagnostic efficiency of post-CCT PAC was not improved either in combination with PAC suppression percentage or in combination with post-CCT ARR. Conclusions: CCT is a useful test for the confirmation of PA. PAC level of 110 ng/L at 2 h after 50 mg of captopril is recommended as an optimal cutoff point for the diagnosis of PA.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To understand the knowledge awareness and service acceptance of HIV non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP) men who have sex with men (MSM) among college students in three cities of China. Methods: Male college students in 10 universities of Beijing, Shenzhen and Kunming aged 18 and above who had sex with men in the last 3 months were recruited as research objects by cluster stratified sampling from March 15, 2019 to April 14, 2019.Basic information, sexual behavior characteristics, knowledge, and service acceptance of nPEP were collected through online questionnaire survey. Multivariate dichotomy and unconditioned logistic regression model was used to explore related factors about knowledge awareness and service acceptance of nPEP. Results: A total of 293 MSM were surveyed. The average age was (21.0±0.2) years old, and 91.1% (267) were undergraduates. In the last 3 months before the survey, 54.3%(159) used condom each time of sex; 4.4%(13) had intercourse with the HIV infected men, and 9.2% (27)suffered STDs in the past 6 months. The 29.4% (86) had not received HIV testing in the past year. The nPEP knowledge awareness rate was 47.8% (140). The 21.2% (62) counseled nPEP services, and 9.9% (29) received nPEP services. After multiple logistic regression analysis, compared with those who not received HIV testing in the past year, OR (95%CI) value of those who received HIV testing for more than twice in the past year to aware the nPEP knowledge was 3.15 (1.01-9.86). Compared with those who not received HIV testing in the past year, OR (95%CI) value of those who received HIV testing for more than twice in the past year to counsel the nPEP services was 5.29 (1.51-18.51). Compared with those who never used rush in the last 3 months, OR(95%CI) value of those who ever used rush in the last 3 months to receive the nPEP services was 3.86 (0.99-14.98). Compared with those who not sexed with HIV infected in the last 3 months, OR (95%CI) value of those who sexed with HIV infected in the last 3 months to receive the nPEP services was 14.30 (3.35-61.03). Conclusion: The proportions of awareness of nPEP knowledge and acceptance of nPEP services are low. MSM among college students need further health education of the nPEP knowledge to improve the accessibility of services.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the proportion of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in primary aldosteronism (PA) in Chinese population and compare the clinical characteristics between PA patients with OSA and those without. Methods: A total of 96 patients diagnosed with PA from September 2015 to November 2018 were recruited in this study. OSA was screened by cardio-respiratory polygraphy. According to the apnea hypopnea index (AHI), the patients were divided into PA with OSA group (AHI ≥5 times) and PA without OSA group (AHI<5 times). Results: Among all patients (96), 69 (71.9%) were with OSA, among them 22 patients (22.9%) were with mild OSA, 17 patients (17.7%) were with moderate OSA and 30 patients (31.3%) were with severe OSA. Compared with the patients without OSA, the patients with OSA were elder, and had higher levels of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), creatinine (CR) and glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c) (P<0.05), but lower concentrations of plasma aldosterone (PAC), supine aldosterone renin concentration ratio(ARR) and the PAC after the diagnosis test (P<0.05). Spearman correlation analyses showed that BMI, WC, HC, CR and HbA1c were positively correlated with AHI (P<0.05), while high-density lipoproteincholesterol (HDL-C), supine-PAC and saline infusion test(SIT)-post PAC were negatively correlated with AHI (P<0.05). Conclusions: The proportion of OSA in PA patients is relatively high (71.9%). Metabolic abnormalities are more common in PA patients with OSA, indicating that screening for OSA should be carried out routinely in PA patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the effect of the "Interner Plus-based AIDS Comprehensive Prevention Service System" among MSM in Guangzhou, during 2010-2017, using a dynamic compartmental model. Methods: A dynamic compartmental model was developed to describe the HIV situation among MSM in Guangzhou. This model was parameterized on data from published literature or surveillance programs from the Guangzhou CDC. The Matlab 7.0 software was used for coding and analysis on collected data. HIV prevalence was analyzed among MSM under the status quo data and estimated the impact by the "Internet Plus" AIDS prevention services project. Results: HIV prevalence would have increased to 22.75% in 2017, and the total number of new HIV infections would have been 11 038, from 2010 to 2017, using the data status quo. Under the Guangzhou "Internet Plus" AIDS prevention services project, the prevalence of HIV among MSM from 2010 to 2017 was estimated to be 8.44%, 9.68%, 10.65%, 11.34%, 11.73%, 11.83%, 11.71% and 11.43% in Guangzhou, which were similar to the surveillance data. The total number of new infections in the past 8 years under the "Internet Plus" scenario was estimated to be 4 009. The "Internet Plus" program would have prevented 7 029 (63.68%) new infections during 2010-2017 as compared to the number, status quo. Conclusions: The fitting result of dynamic compartmental model seemed more reasonable, which was applicable to predict HIV epidemic among MSM in Guangzhou, suggesting that the increase of HIV prevalence had been curbed since the "Internet Plus" project which was launched in 2010, and the "Interner Plus-based AIDS Comprehensive Prevention Service System" had achieved the purpose as planned, epidemiologically.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To establish a dynamic compartmental model to predict the impact of HIV testing and treatment and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) on the annual incidence of HIV infection in men who have sex with men (MSM) in China from 2018 to 2037. Methods: A dynamic compartmental model was developed to describe the HIV epidemic in MSM in China. The model was parameterized using data from the literature available. We used MATLAB 7.0 software for data simulation and graphics rendering. We analyzed HIV transmission among MSM and estimated the impact of expanded HIV testing and treatment and PrEP on HIV elimination in MSM. Results: Under the current policy, the number of new HIV infections would reach 770 000, the infection rate would reach 11.1% and the incidence rate would reach 0.72/100 person years in MSM in the next 20 years. Under the 90%-90%-90% goal, 440 000 new infections (57.7%) would be reduced, the HIV infection rate would decline to 5.7% and the incidence rate would decline to 0.24/100 person years in the next 20 years, but it is still unlikely to achieve the goal of HIV elimination. With 100% PrEP compliance, the required PrEP coverage rates for achieving HIV elimination in the next 10, 15 and 20 years would be 65%, 32% and 19%, respectively. Conclusion: It is necessary to strengthen the comprehensive intervention in MSM, continue to expand HIV testing and treatment, and improve PrEP adherence and coverage to further control and eliminate the epidemic of HIV/AIDS in MSM.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore distribution of HIV gene subtypes among newly reported HIV/AIDS cases from China and Myanmar in Dehong Dai and Jingpo prefecture of Yunnan province in 2016. Methods: We conducted DNA extractions from newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in 2016. The gag, env and pol genes were amplified by using reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) and sequenced to identify HIV subtypes. Results: A total of 1 112 newly diagnosed HIV cases were reported in Dehong in 2016, and the HIV subtypes were identified for 860 cases. Subtype C was predominant (33.6%), followed by unique recombinant forms (URFs) (28.4%), CRF01_AE (18.6%) and so on. URFs include four recombination, among which the recombination of CRF01_AE and C subtype were predominant. The HIV subtype distribution was associated with nationality and transmission route in HIV/AIDS cases from Myanmar. Conclusions: The gene subtypes of C, URFs and CRF01_AE were mainly distributed; distribution of URFs remained complex and diverse among newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in Dehong in 2016.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the distribution of HIV subtype in newly detected people living with HIV from January to November, 2015 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan province. Methods: DNA extraction, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for gag, env, and pol amplification and amplification product sequencing were conducted by using plasmas of newly detected HIV-infected persons. The subtypes were confirmed by analyzing the sequences of 3 genes. Results: A total of 963 HIV infection cases were reported during this period, the HIV subtype was confirmed in 499 cases. Unique recombinant form (URF) was the most common subtype (27.1%, 135/499), followed by C (26.7%, 133/499), CRF01_AE (19.2%, 96/499) and others. URF included 4 kinds of combination, of which combination of subtype B and C was most common. HIV subtype distribution differed between the Chinese HIV infection cases and the Burmese HIV infection cases, the proportion of B and C combination was higher in the Chinese cases. Transmission route was the only factor influencing HIV subtype distribution. Conclusions: HIV subtype distribution in Dehong was complex. URF was predominant. The HIV subtype distribution differed between Chinese and Burmese under different transmission route.

ABSTRACT

A profile preferentially partial occlusion removal method for integral imaging is presented. The profile of the occlusion always contains details with significant texture structure, and regions with significant texture structure often lead to reliable depth estimation. Taking the advantage of the significant texture structure, the profile of occlusion is preferentially dealt with, and then the entire occlusion region is determined via regional spreading according to the accurate profile. The details of occlusion can be accurately removed and the occluded scene is also retained to the maximum degree. In our method, elemental images are integrated into a four-dimensional light field to provide consistently reliable depth estimation and occlusion decisions among all elemental images. Experimental results show that the proposed method is efficient to deal with the details of the occlusion, and it is robust for the occlusions with different kinds of texture structure.

ABSTRACT

A continuous cell line, LYCK, derived from the head kidney of large yellow croaker Pseudosciaena crocea was established and characterized. The LYCK cell line multiplied well in Leibovitz's-15 (L-15) medium supplemented with 10% foetal bovine serum (FBS) at 28° C. This cell line, with a population doubling time of 29·5 h at passage 35, has been subcultured for >70 passages. Microscopically, LYCK cells were fibroblast-like. Chromosomal analysis revealed that the modal diploid chromosome number of LYCK cells was 48, which was identical to that of the P. crocea kidney. The cellular fluorescence could be observed in LYCK cells at 48 h after being transfected with pEGFP-N1 plasmid DNA, indicating that LYCK cells were competent for target gene expression in vitro. The expression of mRNA transcripts of the antiviral immune-related molecules interferon regulatory factor-3 I(ir3), interferon regulatory factor-7 (irf7), melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5 (mda5) was obviously up-regulated in LYCK cells in response to the stimulation with poly (I:C), whereas the expression of mRNA transcripts of the inflammatory cytokines tumour necrosis factor-α2 (tnfTNF-α2), interleukin-8 (il8), CC chemokine (lycCC) was up-regulated by lipopolysaccharide. These results indicated that the LYCK cell line could serve as a valuable tool for studies on immune-related gene functions in vitro.

ABSTRACT

In searching for a putative third gene for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), we studied the genetic inheritance of a large family (NFL10) previously excluded from linkage to both the PKD1 locus and the PKD2 locus. We screened 48 members of the NFL10 pedigree, by ultrasonography, and genotyped them, with informative markers, at both the PKD1 locus and the PKD2 locus. Twenty-eight of 48 individuals assessed were affected with ADPKD. Inspection of the haplotypes of these individuals suggested the possibility of bilineal disease from independently segregating PKD1 and PKD2 mutations. Using single-stranded conformational analysis, we screened for and found a PKD2 mutation (i.e., 2152delA; L736X) in 12 affected pedigree members. Additionally, when the disease status of these individuals was coded as "unknown" in linkage analysis, we also found, with markers at the PKD1 locus, significant LOD scores (i.e., >3.0). These findings strongly support the presence of a PKD1 mutation in 15 other affected pedigree members, who lack the PKD2 mutation. Two additional affected individuals had trans-heterozygous mutations involving both genes, and they had renal disease that was more severe than that in affected individuals who had either mutation alone. This is the first documentation of bilineal disease in ADPKD. In humans, trans-heterozygous mutations involving both PKD1 and PKD2 are not necessarily embryonically lethal. However, the disease associated with the presence of both mutations appears to be more severe than the disease associated with either mutation alone. The presence of bilineal disease as a confounder needs to be considered seriously in the search for the elusive PKD3 locus.

ABSTRACT

Isoptin SR was used in 65 essential hypertensive patients. 240mg Isoptin SR (German Knoll Pharmaceutical company) per day was used in group A (35 cases) for 6 weeks, and in group B (30 cases) for 24 weeks, BP in group A and B decreased obviously in the first and second week after treatment. Marked effective rate and total effective rate were 65.7% and 74.3% respectively in group A, and 70.0% and 83.3% in group B. There were no significant changes of HR in group A before and after treatment while there was a decrease of HR in group B (P < 0.001). Left atrium (LA) decreased after 6 weeks in group A with an obvious increase of E/A ratio. There was significant decrease in LA, increase in E/A ratio, regression of IVS, LVPW and LVMI, but no changes in SV, CO, LVEF after 24 weeks of treatment of Isoptin SR in group B. E/A ratio was very sensitive and occurred earliest both in group A and group B. Side effects such as headache, dizziness, constipation, insomnia, peripheral oedema, sinus bradycardia occurred mainly in the first week of treatment. These symptoms disappeared gradually in the course of continued administration of Isoptin SR.

ABSTRACT

A 5-month old boy was admitted with urinary tract infection. While doing the voiding cystogram, the bladder was found to be pushed to the right side by a soft tissue mass. Through CT scan examination, the mass revealed to be a fecaloma. Through rectal suction biopsy and barium enema study for megacolon, it was proved to be a case of congenital megacolon. A pull-through operation for megacolon was carried out. He recovered quickly, and was discharged 10 days later. We make this report in order to discuss this rare presentation which may occur in congenital megacolon.

ABSTRACT

Changes of (Na+-K+)-ATPase activity, cAMP and fibronectin (FN) content and cell surface microvilli were studied cytochemically, immunocytochemically and scanning electron microscopically on human stomach Glandular carcinoma (SGC-7901) cells treated with NaBT(2.5 mM). It was found that NaBT not only inhibited cell growth but also remarkably decreased the activity of cell surface (Na+-K+)-ATPase of SGC-7901 cells. Note worthy was that, in comparison with the untreated tumor cells, the increase of the intensity of intracellular cAMP and FN immunofluorescence in NaBT-treated tumor cells was striking. Moreover, in contrast to untreated tumor cells, the cell surface of NaBT-treated tumor cells showed more smooth and fewer microvilli under SEM. That NaBT may induce differentiation of SGC-7901 cells through inhibition of (Na+-K+)-ATPase activity and modulation of cellular cAMP and FN content was discussed.

ABSTRACT

CHO cells after being treated by Bt2cAMP (1M), would reverse to the fibroblastoid cell morphologically. The cell body appears spindle, more orientational and polarized. The Bt2cAMP, rendering the cells grow were slowly, did not block them from G1 to S phase. The "contact inhibition" was restored to some degree. The most saturated density of the cells was reduced to 47.4% as compared with the control CHO cells. When CHO cells were treated by Bt2cAMP added with Colcemid (0.05 micrograms/ml), the microtubules (MT) were destroyed. Still, the cells were able to reach the "contact inhibition". The signal of "contact inhibition" may not approach the nucleus via MT.

ABSTRACT

Anti-tubulin antibody indirect immunofluorescence microscopy is used in this report. Difference of intracellular microtubule fluorescent staining patterns between normal and malignant human esophageal cells has been observed. Primarily cultured human esophageal epithelial cells display an elaborate array of fluorescent cytoplasmic microtubule filaments, the cytoplasmic microtubule complex (CMTC), in interphase cells and mitotic spindle microtubules in mitotic cells. Malignant esophageal cells from human esophageal carcinoma, ECa109 cells, contain very few cytoplasmic microtubules in interphase cells, but there is no difference of mitotic spindle microtubule fluorescence between normal and malignant cells. The results presented in this report suggest that the diminution of interphase cytoplasmic microtubules in tumor cells is probably due to the deficiency of microtubule organizing mechanism in interphase tumor cells.
