ABSTRACT

A temperature measurement subsystem (TMS) is a critical piece of infrastructure of the space gravitational wave detection platform, necessary for monitoring minuscule temperature changes at the level of 1µK/Hz1/2 within the electrode house, in the frequency range of 0.1mHz to 1Hz. The voltage reference (VR), a key component of the TMS, must possess low noise characteristics in the detection band to minimize the impact on temperature measurements. However, the noise characteristics of the voltage reference in the sub-millihertz range have not been documented yet and require further study. This paper reports a dual-channel measurement method for measuring the low-frequency noise of VR chips down to 0.1mHz. The measurement method makes use of a dual-channel chopper amplifier and an assembly thermal insulation box to achieve a normalized resolution of 3×10-7/Hz1/2@0.1mHz in the VR noise measurement. The seven best-performance VR chips documented at a common frequency range are tested. The results show that their noise at sub-millihertz frequencies can significantly differ from that around 1Hz.

ABSTRACT

A sustainable strategy for P recovery from sewage sludge via alkali-activated pyrolysis, water leaching and crystallization was proposed, and a high value-added product of vivianite was recovered. Effects of the type and dose of alkali activator on P transformation during sludge pyrolysis were investigated. 50 wt% dose of KHCO3 was determined as the alkali-activated pyrolysis condition. The content of water-soluble P (referred to as Water-P) in biochar derived from raw sludge (referred to as RS) and ferric sludge (Fenton's reagent conditioned sludge, referred to as FS) by KHCO3-activated pyrolysis at different temperatures was compared. The Fe element in the Fenton's reagent enhanced the content of Fe-bound P in the dewatered sludge, which was readily transformed into potassium phosphate during KHCO3-activated pyrolysis, thus increasing the Water-P content in the biochar derived from FS. The proportions of Water-P to total P in the biochar samples obtained by KHCO3-activated pyrolysis of RS and FS at 600 °C were 72.5% and 96.2%, respectively, which were notably higher than those in the biochar samples obtained by direct pyrolysis of RS and FS (3.5% and 0.5%), respectively. The water leaching solution of biochar obtained by KHCO3-activated pyrolysis of FS at 600 °C was purified to remove impurity elements, and vivianite with high purity was finally recovered by crystallization. A total P recovery efficiency of 88.08% was achieved throughout the process from sewage sludge to the final vivianite product. This study proposes a promising and sustainable approach for realizing the recovery of high value-added product vivianite from sewage sludge.

ABSTRACT

The superradiant Rayleigh scattering using a pump laser incident along the short axis of a Bose-Einstein condensate with a density distortion is studied, where the distortion is formed by shocking the condensate utilizing the residual magnetic force after the switching-off of the trapping potential. We find that very small variation of the atomic density distribution would induce remarkable asymmetrically populated scattering modes by the matter-wave superradiance with long time pulse. The optical field in the diluter region of the atomic cloud is more greatly amplified, which is not an ordinary mode amplification with the previous cognition. Our numerical simulations with the density envelop distortion are consistent with the experimental results. This supplies a useful method to reflect the geometric symmetries of the atomic density profile by the superradiance scattering.
