ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To provide reference for the smooth implementation of the “dual channel” management policy for China’s medical insurance negotiated drugs. METHODS Based on Smith policy implementation process model, the dilemmas for the implementation of “dual channel” policy for medical insurance negotiated drugs were analyzed from four aspects: implementation details and regulatory system, drug selection, drug provision and quality control, the situation of medical insurance funds and information technology capabilities. The corresponding promotion strategies were put forward. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS The “dual channel” policy for medical insurance negotiated drugs in China might face implementation difficulties such as a lack of clear implementation rules and a full process supervision system, the suitability and operability of some medical insurance negotiated drugs need to be considered in the “dual channel” management, difficulties in drug allocation and quality control, differences in the management and operation of medical insurance funds in different regions, and insufficient informatization capability. In this regard, this study suggests that measures, such as improving the implementation rules of the “dual channel” policy, enhancing the rationality of the “dual channel” drug catalog, establishing a dynamic exit mechanism for “dual channel” pharmacies, promoting professional delivery services, and improving the electronic prescription circulation platform, which can be taken to enhance the implementation effect of the “dual channel” policy.

ABSTRACT

Background At present, the practice of pulmonary rehabilitation for pneumoconiosis in China is in a primary stage. The basis for formulating an individualized comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation plan is still insufficient, which is one of the factors limiting the development of community-level rehabilitation work. Objective To formulate an exercise prescription based on maximum heart rate measured by cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET), conduct an individualized comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation program with the exercise prescription for patients with stable pneumoconiosis, and evaluate its role in improving exercise endurance and quality of life, thus provide a basis for the application and promotion of pulmonary rehabilitation. Methods A total of 68 patients were recruited from the Occupational Disease Prevention Hospital of Jinneng Holding Coal Industry Group Co., Ltd. from April to August 2022 , and were divided into an intervention group and a control group by random number table method, with 34 cases in each group. All the pneumoconiosis patients participated in a baseline test. The control group was given routine drug treatment, while the intervention group received multidisciplinary comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation treatment on the basis of routine drug treatment, including health education, breathing training, exercise training, nutrition guidance, psychological intervention, and sleep management, whose exercise intensity was determined according to the maximum heart rate provided by CPET. The rehabilitation training lasted for 24 weeks. Patients were evaluated at registration and the end of study respectively. CPET was used to measure peak oxygen uptake per kilogram (pVO2/kg), anaerobic threshold (AT), carbon dioxide equivalent of ventilation (EqCO2), maximum metabolic equivalent (METs), and maximum work (Wmax). The modified British Medical Research Council Dyspnea Questionnaire (mMRC), Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Assessment Test (CAT), and Short Form of Health Survey (SF-36) were used to evaluate the potential effect of the comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation program. Results Among the included 68 patients, 63 patients were having complete data, then 31 cases were assigned in the control group and 32 cases in the interventional group. Before the intervention, there was no significant difference in pVO2/kg, AT, EqCO2, METs, or Wmax between the two groups (P>0.05). At the end of the trail, the indicators like pVO2/kg [(19.81±2.38) mL·(min·kg)−1], AT [(14.48±2.33) mL·(min·kg)−1], METs (5.64±0.69), and Wmax [(85.25±14) W] of patients in the intervention group were all higher than those [(13.90±2.37) mL·(min·kg)−1, (11.70±1.94) mL·(min kg)−1, (3.97±0.70), and (61.77±14.72) W, respectively] in the control group (P<0.001); there was no significant difference in EqCO2 between the two groups (P=0.083). Before the trial, there was no significant difference in mMRC, SAS, SDS, PSQI, or CAT scores between the two groups (P>0.05). At the end of the trail, the mMRC score (1.16±0.57), SAS score (27.93±2.12), SDS score (26.48±1.44), PSQI score (1.08±0.88), and CAT score (4.34±3.28) of patients in the intervention group were lower than those [(2.03±0.83), (35.87±6.91), (34.23±6.65), (5.37±3.03), and (13.87±7.53), respectively] in the control group (P<0.001). The SF-36 scores of bodily pain (94.13±10.72), general health (87.50±5.68), vitality (95.31±5.53), mental health (99.88±0.71), and health changes (74.22±4.42) in the intervention group were higher than those [(71.87±32.72), (65.81±15.55), (74.52±16.45), (86.97±16.56), and (29.84±13.50), respectively] in the control group (P<0.001), and no significant difference was found in social functioning and role emotional scores (P>0.05). Conclusion Comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation can increase the oxygen intake and exercise endurance of pneumoconiosis patients, ameliorate dyspnea symptoms, elevate psychological state and sleep quality, and improve the quality of life.

ABSTRACT

Chiral metal-organic frameworks(CMOFs)with enantiomeric subunits have been employed in chiral chemistry. In this study,a CMOF formed from 6-methoxyl-(8S,9R)-cinchonan-9-ol-3-carboxylic acid(HQA)and ZnCl2,{(HQA)(ZnCl2)(2.5H2O)}n was constructed as a chiral stationary phase(CSP)via an in situ fabrication approach and used for chiral amino acid and drug analyses for the first time.The{(HQA)(ZnCl2)(2.5H2O)}n nanocrystal and the corresponding chiral stationary phase were systematically characterised using a series of analytical techniques including scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, circular dichroism,X-ray photoelectron spectros-copy,thermogravimetric analysis, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area measurements. In open-tubular capillary electrochromatography(CEC),the novel chiral column exhibited strong and broad enantioselectivity toward a variety of chiral analytes, including 19 racemic dansyl amino acids and several model chiral drugs(both acidic and basic). The chiral CEC conditions were optimised, and the enantioseparation mechanisms are discussed. This study not only introduces a new high-efficiency member of the MOF-type CSP family but also demonstrates the potential of improving the enantiose-lectivities of traditional chiral recognition reagents by fully using the inherent characteristics of porous organic frameworks.

ABSTRACT

Capillary electrochromatography(CEC)plays a significant role in chiral separation via the double sepa-ration principle, partition coefficient difference between the two phases, and electroosmotic flow-driven separation.Given the distinct properties of the inner wall stationary phase(SP),the separation ability of each SP differs from one another.Particularly,it provides large room for promising applications of open tubular capillary electrochromatography(OT-CEC).We divided the OT-CEC SPs developed over the past four years into six types:ionic liquids, nanoparticle materials, microporous materials,biomaterials,non-nanopolymers,and others,to mainly introduce their characteristics in chiral drug separation. There also added a few classic SPs that occurred within ten years as supplements to enrich the features of each SP.Additionally,we discuss their applications in metabolomics, food, cosmetics, environment, and biology as analytes in addition to chiral drugs.OT-CEC plays an increasingly significant role in chiral separation and may promote the development of capillary electrophoresis(CE)combined with other instruments in recent years, such as CE with mass spectrometry(CE/MS)and CE with ultraviolet light detector(CE/UV).

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo construct an evaluation index system for the development of district-level disease prevention and control centers according to the requirements of the modernization of Shanghai’s disease control system and public health work practices, and to comprehensively assess the construction and development of district-level disease prevention and control institutions. MethodsAccording to the national and municipal requirements for the development of disease prevention and control institutions, an index framework was proposed through literature search and expert interviews. 39 representative experts in the field of public health at the national, provincial, and municipal (district) levels were selected to participate in the consultation and construction of the index system. The authority coefficient, the coefficient of variation, etc. were used to carry out quality control and determination of each index on the Delphi method. ResultsThe questionnaire response rate was 100%, the expert authority coefficient was 0.86,the degree of familiarity was 0.79, and the judgment basis was 0.92. The coefficients of variation of the necessary indicators in the index system were all <0.25 in the dimension of importance, and there were statistical differences in the statistical test of Kendall’s W coordination coefficients at all levels and dimensions (all P<0.001). After multiple rounds of consultation, experts reached a consensus, forming a development evaluation index system of district-level CDCs with 6 first-level indicators, 24 second-level indicators, and 105 third-level indicators (including 63 necessary indicators and 42 recommended indicators). ConclusionThe evaluation index system of Shanghai district-level CDCs based on the Delphi method has good authority, reliability, sensitivity and operability. This indicator system can effectively support the development of Shanghai district-level CDCs, and can be used for evaluation at multiple levels and in an all-round way in the future. The evaluation results can provide an evidence-based basis for the modernization of the disease prevention and control system and the continuous and dynamic updating of the development goals in the future.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#The molecular mechanisms driving tumorigenesis have continually been the focus of researchers. Cuproplasia is defined as copper-dependent cell growth and proliferation, including its primary and secondary roles in tumor formation and proliferation through signaling pathways. In this study, we analyzed the differences in the expression of cuproplasia-associated genes (CAGs) in pan-cancerous tissues and investigated their role in immune-regulation and tumor prognostication.@*METHODS@#Raw data from 11,057 cancer samples were acquired from multiple databases. Pan-cancer analysis was conducted to analyze the CAG expression, single-nucleotide variants, copy number variants, methylation signatures, and genomic signatures of micro RNA (miRNA)-messenger RNA (mRNA) interactions. The Genomics of Drug Sensitivity in Cancer and the Cancer Therapeutics Response Portal databases were used to evaluate drug sensitivity and resistance against CAGs. Using single-sample Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (ssGSEA) and Immune Cell Abundance Identifier database, immune cell infiltration was analyzed with the ssGSEA score as the standard.@*RESULTS@#Aberrantly expressed CAGs were found in multiple cancers. The frequency of single-nucleotide variations in CAGs ranged from 1% to 54% among different cancers. Furthermore, the correlation between CAG expression in the tumor microenvironment and immune cell infiltration varied among different cancers. ATP7A and ATP7B were negatively correlated with macrophages in 16 tumors including breast invasive carcinoma and esophageal carcinoma, while the converse was true for MT1A and MT2A . In addition, we established cuproplasia scores and demonstrated their strong correlation with patient prognosis, immunotherapy responsiveness, and disease progression ( P  <0.05). Finally, we identified potential candidate drugs by matching gene targets with existing drugs.@*CONCLUSIONS@#This study reports the genomic characterization and clinical features of CAGs in pan-cancers. It helps clarify the relationship between CAGs and tumorigenesis, and may be helpful in the development of biomarkers and new therapeutic agents.

ABSTRACT

Hepatic fibrosis (HF) is the common pathological process of various chronic liver diseases and is associated with the progression of liver diseases, and it is also a key factor affecting the outcome of liver diseases and the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The early process of HF is reversible, but without timely intervention and treatment, HF may gradually aggravate and progress to liver cirrhosis and even HCC, which will endanger people's health. Therefore, it is of great significance to actively prevent and treat HF; however, due to the complex pathogenesis of HF, Western medicine treatment is limited and there is still a lack of effective and widely accepted anti-fibrotic drugs, and thus there is a huge demand for medical treatment. With the efforts of scholars in China and globally, traditional Chinese medicine treatment has become a hotspot and a key breakthrough point in reversing HF and preventing its progression, with the advantages of multiple targets and pathways. This article elaborates on the advantages and characteristics of TCM treatment of HF from the aspects of syndrome differentiation, method of treatment, drug compatibility, and modern molecular mechanism.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To investigate whether matrine exerts improvement effect on experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mice by regulating ferroptosis pathway. METHODS Totally 30 female C57BL/6 mice were randomly assigned into normal group, model group and matrine group, with 10 mice in each group. Model group and matrine group were given antigen emulsion containing inactivated Mycobacterium tuberculosis and MOG35-55 to induce EAE model. Matrine group was injected with Matrine injection (50 mg/kg) intraperitoneally since the 7th day after immunization; normal group and model group were given constant volume of normal saline intraperitoneally, once a day, since 18th day after immunization. The neurofunctional score of mice was recorded, and hematoxylin and eosin staining and Luxol fast blue staining were used to observe inflammatory cell infiltration and demyelination in spinal cord tissue. The quantitative reverse transcription PCR and Western blot assay were performed to determine the mRNA expressions of transferrin receptor 1 (TFR1), nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA4) and hephaestin (Heph), and the protein expressions of system Xc- (xCT) and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPx4). RESULTS Compared with normal group, accumulative neurofunctional score was significantly increased in model group (P<0.01); inflammatory cell infiltration and demyelination were obvious in spinal cord tissue, and related scores were increased significantly (P<0.01). The mRNA expressions of TFR1 and NCOA4 in myelin tissue were up-regulated significantly, while the mRNA expression of Heph and the protein expressions of xCT and GPx4 were down-regulated significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Compared with model group, above indexes of matrine group were all improved significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS Matrine can improve EAE mice, the mechanism of which may be associated with regulating iron metabolism pathway and xCT/GPx4 pathway in ferroptosis.

ABSTRACT

Testicular aging is mainly characterized by a gradual decline in the capability of testosterone synthesis and spermatogenesis, which not only affects male fertility, but also correlates with aging-related chronic diseases intimately. Therefore, delaying testicular aging plays a significant role in improving the health and quality of life of middle-aged and elderly men. Stem cells are a cell group with potent self-renewal capability and multi-directional differentiation potential. In recent years, the research of stem cells in basic and clinical application has been carried out in-depth, which has accelerated the development of cell therapy. Currently, stem cell transplantation has been employed to treat multiple diseases, which has captivated widespread attention in the field of aging and regenerative medicine. Stem cell transplantation has demonstrated promising prospects in the treatment of testicular aging. In this article, research profile and progress of stem cell transplantation in the treatment of testicular aging were reviewed, and bottleneck issues encountered in clinical translation and strategies for optimizing clinical efficacy were discussed, aiming to provide novel ideas for the research and development and clinical translation of stem cell therapy for testicular aging.

ABSTRACT

Objective To examine short-term outcomes and long-term survival of elderly patients (aged over 80 years) with colorectal cancer who received laparoscopic versus open surgery. Methods A total of 313 patients over 80 years old with colorectal cancer who underwent radical surgery were included.According to the surgical method, all patients were divided into open-surgery group (n=143) and laparoscopic surgery group (n=170).Baseline data were balanced between the two groups by using propensity score matching.Kaplan-Meier was used to draw the survival curve, and survival was compared by Log rank tests.Cox proportional risk model was used to analyze the effects of all factors on overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). Results After matching, 93 patients were included in each group. The mean intraoperative blood loss, the incidence of overall postoperative complications and gradeⅠ-Ⅱ complications in the laparoscopic surgery group were significantly lower than those in the open surgery group (all P < 0.05).The time to first flatus, the time to oral feeding, and postoperative hospital stays in the laparoscopic surgery group were significantly shorter than those in the open surgery group (all P < 0.05).The mean number of lymph-node dissection was also significantly higher in the laparoscopic surgery group than in the open surgery group (P=0.030).Patients in both groups had similar 5-year OS (P=0.594) and DFS (P=0.295).Multivariate Cox prognostic analysis showed that CEA level > 5 ng/ml, pathological TNM stage Ⅲ, and perineural invasion were independent risk factors for poor OS and DFS. Conclusion Compared with open surgery, laparoscopic surgery can provide better short-term advantages and similar long-term outcomes for colorectal cancer patients over 80 years of age.

ABSTRACT

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) remains an important health threat. Syncytial formation by infected cells mediated by the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (SARS-2-S) is a hallmark of COVID-19-associated pathology. Although SARS-CoV-2 infection evokes cellular senescence, as in other viruses, the direct link between SARS-2-S-induced syncytia with senescence in the absence of viral infection and their senescence fate determinants remain unknown. Here, we show that syncytia formed by cells expressing exogenously delivered SARS-2-S exhibited a senescence-like phenotype in vitro and that SARS-2-S mRNA induced senescence phenotype in vivo. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) containing SARS-2-S also induced senescent syncytium formation independent of the de novo synthesis of SARS-2-S. Mechanistically, we show that the accumulation of endogenous dsRNA, partially that whose formation is induced by activation of the unfolded protein response (UPR), in SARS-2-S syncytia triggers RIG-I-MAVS signalling to drive the TNF--dependent survival and senescence fate of SARS-2-S syncytia. Our findings suggest that the fusogenic ability of SARS-2-S might contribute to the side effects of particular COVID-19 vaccines or perhaps long COVID-19 syndrome and provide insight into how these effects can be prevented.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we studied the changes of Hg and MeHg contents in Liaohe estuarine Suaeda salsa soils under anaerobic conditions by simulated indoor incubation at constant temperature and whether the changes of salinity (CK, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%) affected SRB and dominated the formation of MeHg. The lowest Hg content is found in the subsurface Suaeda salsa soils at 2.0% salinity. The MeHg content in the soil also showed a general trend of increasing and then decreasing with increasing flooding salinity, and the MeHg content was higher at 0.5-1.0% flooding salinity. SRB was present in the soil under all salinity conditions and reached the maximum value at 15 days of incubation. The SRB content was higher under CK, S1 and S2 conditions, and the soil MeHg content showed a significant positive correlation with the number of SRB bacteria, indicating that the formation of MeHg was related to SRB which is of great significance to the study of estuarine wetlands.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To assess the effect of reconstruction kernels and window settings on the detection and measurement of pulmonary solid nodules and their measurement variability and repeatability. 【Methods】 We retrospectively recruited 49 patients with pulmonary solid nodules who had undergone low-dose CT scanning. Images were reconstructed using five reconstruction kernels: lung, bone, chest, detail and standard kernels. Two radiologists independently assessed the detection rate, diameter and CT number measurement of nodules under the five kernels and two window settings (lung-window and mediastinal-window). Bland-Altman plots and relative average deviation (RAD) were used to evaluate the repeatability and variability of nodule diameter and CT number measurement. 【Results】 Seventy-seven nodules were detected on lung-window regardless of reconstruction kernels, while the detection rates (75.3%-98.7%) were significantly different (P<0.001) on the mediastinal-window, with the lung kernel significantly improving the detection of nodules with the diameter below 6 mm. In both display windows, the diameter and CT number measurements among reconstruction kernels were similar except for the lung kernel. The lung-window had better variability in the diameter measurement while mediastinal-window was better in CT number measurement among various reconstruction kernels. Although the variability in the diameter of the nodule on the lung-window and mediastinal-window was similar, there was a significant difference in the variability in the diameter measurement among different reconstruction kernels on the mediastinal-window (P=0.004). No significant difference in the variability in the CT number measurement was found among the different reconstruction kernels (lung-window P=0.163; mediastinal-window P=0.201), and the variability in the CT number measurements on the mediastinal-window was smaller than that of the lung-window. Both window displays had acceptable repeatability in diameter and CT number measurement; however, the mediastinal-window was better in CT number measurement. 【Conclusion】 The lung kernel can improve the detection of pulmonary solid nodules below 6 mm, but is limited in the CT number measurement. The lung-window display provides better variability in measuring nodule diameter, while mediastinal-window display is better at measuring CT numbers.

ABSTRACT

Pyroptosis is an inflammatory form of programmed cell death, including canonical and non-canonical pyroptosis pathway. Studies on pyroptosis have been reported in a variety of retinal diseases, but they are more focused on common diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Many retinal diseases are difficult to treat because of the complexity of their etiology and pathogenesis. The discovery of pyroptosis has brought new content to the pathogenesis of these diseases, and also pointed a new direction for the treatment. Pyroptosis does not occur independently, and it is related to apoptosis and autophagy, but the specific mechanism is not clear. However, the most important biomolecule in the process of pyroptosis have been basically determined, and some methods can be used to interfere with pyroptosis, which has obtained preliminary achievement, suggesting that inhibition of pyroptosis may be a new direction for the treatment of retinal diseases and has broad research prospects.

ABSTRACT

Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) is a common virus associated with acute respiratory distress syndrome in pediatric patients. There are no HMPV vaccines or therapeutics that have been approved for prevention or treatment. In this study, we constructed a novel recombinant influenza virus carrying partial HMPV fusion protein (HMPV-F), termed rFLU-HMPV/F-NS, utilizing reverse genetics, which contained (HMPV-F) in the background of NS segments of influenza virus A/PuertoRico/8/34(PR8). The morphological characteristics of rFLU-HMPV/F-NS were consistent with the wild-type flu virus. Additionally, immunofluorescence results showed that fusion proteins in the chimeric rFLU-HMPV/F-NS could work well, and the virus could be stably passaged in SPF chicken embryos. Furthermore, intranasal immunization with rFLU-HMPV/F-NS in BALB/c mice induced robust humoral, mucosal and Th1-type dominant cellular immune responses in vivo. More importantly, we discovered that rFLU-HMPV/F-NS afforded significant protective efficacy against the wild-type HMPV and influenza virus challenge, with significantly attenuated pathological changes and reduced viral titers in the lung tissues of immunized mice. Collectively, these findings demonstrated that chimeric recombinant rFLU-HMPV/F-NS as a promising HMPV candidate vaccine has potentials for the development of HMPV vaccine.

ABSTRACT

Aiming at exploring an effective photocatalytic adsorbent for organic dye removal, a series of heterostructured TiO2@HKUST-1 photocatalysts, by incorporating HKUST-1 with different TiO2 nanoparticles loading, were prepared by single-step hydrothermal method. The morphology and surface characteristics of the as-prepared TiO2@HKUST-1were analyzed using SEM, HRTEM, XRD, FTIR, UV-vis DRS, and Photoluminescence techniques. The adsorption-photocatalytic degradation of the model dye methylene blue (MB) on the catalysts was investigated. It was indicated that the introduction of a certain amount of TiO2 on the surface of HKUST-1 could improve the transfer and separation of the photogenerated charge carriers, resulting in the enhanced photocatalytic activity. The optimal 0.02TiO2@HKUST-1 exhibited the highest MB removal rate with about 4.4 and 19.3 times as high MB removal efficiency as that of HKUST-1 and TiO2, respectively. Heterostructured TiO2@HKUST-1 materials for the removal of MB involved the integrated adsorption and visible light photocatalysis. Meanwhile, the composite exhibited good reusability in the process of cyclic experiments. Therefore, this work provides a potential MOF-based photocatalytic adsorbent for organic dye removal.

The changes of skeletal muscle indexes, glucagon-like peptides-1 (GLP-1), insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) and inflammatory indexes were compared between the two groups at baseline and 36 weeks after treatment.Results:After treatment, the skeletal muscle index (SMI) of sitagliptin group was increased (5.94 ± 1.52 vs. 5.99 ± 1.52), and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). Muscle strength and SMI decreased in acarbosse group (18.75 ± 4.64 vs. 17.72 ± 4.44, 6.09 ± 1.74 vs. 6.00 ± 1.71), with statistical significance ( P<0.05). GLP-1 increased in sitagliptin group, 0 min: (10.65 ± 1.68) pmol/L vs. (12.41 ± 1.88) pmol/L; 60 min: (22.79 ± 2.85) pmol/L vs. (25.51 ± 2.79) pmol/L; 120 min: (24.26 ± 2.94) pmol/L vs. (29.49 ± 2.91) pmol/L; 180 min: (11.68 ± 1.84) pmol/L vs. (12.88 ± 1.83) pmol/L. There were significant differences ( P<0.05). HOMA-IR and CRP decreased: 4.73 ± 3.04 vs. 3.16 ± 2.41, (2.39 ± 0.50) mg/L vs. (2.33 ± 0.43) mg/L, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05). HOMA-IR in acarbose group decreased after treatment (5.80 ± 3.94 vs. 4.00 ± 1.63), and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). Comparison between the two groups after treatment, the decreased value of muscle strength in sitagliptin group was less than that in acarbose group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). GLP-1 and overall GLP-1 area under the curve in sitagliptin group were higher than those in acarbose group (67.64 ± 6.81 vs. 58.98 ± 6.72), with statistical significance ( P<0.05). HOMA-IR and CRP in sitagliptin group were lower than those in acarborose group: 3.16 ± 2.42 vs. 4.00 ± 1.63, (2.33 ± 0.43) mg/L vs. (2.41 ± 0.70) mg/L, with statistical significances ( P<0.05). Conclusions:Sitagliptin therapy improves muscle mass and protects muscle strength in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and sarcopenia.
