ABSTRACT

Background: Health workers involved in the fight to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak were exposed to hazards. Detailed information on mental health problems in different medical occupations is crucial. To examined the prevalence of mental health issues in three medical occupations as well as the relationships between mental health problems and correlates in each occupation. Methods: This study utilizing the Questionnaire Star program was conducted among medical workers working at medical institutions in China from February 17 to 24, 2020. The Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20), the Zung Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and the Zung Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) were used to assess mental health problems. Results: The prevalence of any mental health problems in the three occupations was 43.6, 34.6, and 32.9% for nurses, paramedical workers (PMWs), and doctors, respectively. Three occupations shared some correlates, such as being overworked, not having enough time to rest, support from colleagues, and previous mental health status. There were specific factors for each occupation. For doctors, age, educational level, living status, support from family, and previous physical status were related factors in mental health problems. Working in a designated hospital for treating COVID-19, having COVID-19 event exposures, and receiving support from family were associated with the mental health problems of the nurses. PMWs' mental health problems was linked to educational level and care from supervisors or heads of department. Conclusion: Different medical occupations have distinct impacts on mental health issues. Policy makers and mental health professionals working to prepare for potential disease outbreaks should be aware of multiple factors in different occupations.

ABSTRACT

Prolonged or repeated exposure to stress elevates the risk of various psychological diseases, many of which are characterized by central nervous system dysfunction. Recent studies have demonstrated that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are highly abundant in the mammalian brain. Although their precise expression and function remain unknown, they have been hypothesized to regulate transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene expression. In this investigation, we comprehensively analyzed whether restraint stress for 2 days altered the circRNA expression profile in the amygdala of male rats. The impact of restraint stress on behavior was evaluated using an elevated plus maze and open field test. Serum corticosterone levels were measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. A total of 10,670 circRNAs were identified using RNA sequencing. Ten circRNAs were validated by reverse transcription and quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis. Gene ontology and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes pathway analyzes supported the notion that genes associated with differentially expressed circRNAs are primarily implicated in neuronal activity and neurotransmitter transport. Moreover, the three differentially expressed circRNAs showed high specificity in the amygdala. Overall, these findings indicate that differentially expressed circRNAs are highly enriched in the amygdala and offer a potential direction for further research on restraint stress.

INTRODUCTION: Polygonum amplexicaule D. Don var. sinense Forb (PAF), a medicinal plant, has the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. However, the active compounds and targets of its anticoagulant effect are still unclear. OBJECTIVES: This study aims to establish an effective reversely thrombin-targeted screening method for anticoagulant active components in PAF by affinity ultrafiltration (AUF) coupled with ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectroscopy (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS). METHODS: Different polar parts of PAF were screened for potential thrombin ligands by AUF-HPLC and identified by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS. After studying the affinity between ligands and thrombin by molecular docking, the antithrombotic activity of ligands was detected in vivo by zebrafish thrombus model, and in vitro by chromogenic substrate method. The mechanism of such ligands on thrombin was further studied by coagulation factor assay. RESULTS: Eleven potential thrombin ligands from PAF were screened by the AUF-UPLC-Q-TOF-MS method, and two compounds (butyl gallate and ß-sitosterol) with significant anticoagulant activity were discovered via in vitro and in vivo activity testing. CONCLUSION: A method system based on AUF-UPLC-Q-TOF-MS, molecular docking and in vivo and in vitro experiments also provided a powerful tool for further exploration of anticoagulant active components in PAF.

ABSTRACT

Confronting the threat of environment uranium pollution, decades of research have yielded advanced and significant findings in uranium bioremediation, resulting in the accumulation of tremendous amount of high-quality literature. In this study, we analyzed over 10,000 uranium reduction-related papers published from 1990 to the present in the Web of Science based on bibliometrics, and revealed some critical information on knowledge structure, thematic evolution and additional attention. Methods including contribution comparison, co-occurrence and temporal evolution analysis are applied. The results of the distribution and impact analysis of authors, sources, and journals indicated that the United States is a leader in this field of research and China is on the rise. The top keywords remained stable, primarily focused on chemicals (uranium, iron, plutonium, nitrat, carbon), characters (divers, surfac, speciat), and microbiology (microbial commun, cytochrome, extracellular polymeric subst). Keywords related to new strains, reduction mechanisms and product characteristics demonstrated the strongest uptrend, while some keywords related to mechanism and performance were clearly emerging in the past 5 years. Furthermore, the evolution of the thematic progression can be categorized into three stages, commencing with the discovery of the enzymatic reduction of hexavalent uranium to tetravalent uranium, developing in the groundwater remediation process at uranium-contaminated sites, and delving into the research on microbial reduction mechanisms of uranium. For future research, enhancing the understanding of mechanisms, improving uranium removal performance, and exploring practical applications can be considered. This study provides unique insights into microbial uranium reduction research, providing valuable references for related studies in this field.

ABSTRACT

The amygdala is a core region in the limbic system that is highly sensitive to stress. Astrocytes are key players in stress disorders such as anxiety and depression. However, the effects of stress on the morphology and function of amygdala astrocytes and its potential mechanisms remain largely unknown. Hence, we performed in vivo and in vitro experiments using a restraint stress (RS) rat model and stress-induced astrocyte culture, respectively. Our data show that norepinephrine (NE) content increased, cytotoxic edema occurred, and aquaporin-4 (AQP4) expression was up-regulated in the basolateral amygdala (BLA) obtained from RS rats. Additionally, the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway was also observed to be significantly activated in the BLA of rats subjected to RS. The administration of NE to in vitro astrocytes increased the AQP4 level and induced cell edema. Furthermore, p38 MAPK signaling was activated. The NE inhibitor alpha-methyl-p-tyrosine (AMPT) alleviated cytotoxic edema in astrocytes, inhibited AQP4 expression, and inactivated the p38 MAPK pathway in RS rats. Meanwhile, in the in vitro experiment, the p38 MAPK signaling inhibitor SB203580 reversed NE-induced cytotoxic edema and down-regulated the expression of AQP4 in astrocytes. Briefly, NE-induced activation of the p38 MAPK pathway mediated cytotoxic edema in BLA astrocytes from RS rats. Thus, our data provide novel evidence that NE-induced p38 MAPK pathway activation may be one of the mechanisms leading to cytotoxic edema in BLA under stress conditions, which also could enable the development of an effective therapeutic strategy against cytotoxic edema in BLA under stress and provide new ideas for the treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases.

BACKGROUND: The obesity rate of adolescents is gradually increasing, which seriously affects their mental health, and sleep plays an important role in adolescent obesity. AIM: To investigate the relationship between sleep rhythm and obesity among adolescents and further explores the interactive effect of sleep rhythm and gender on adolescent obesity, providing a theoretical basis for developing interventions for adolescent obesity. METHODS: Research data source Tianjin Mental Health Promotion Program for Students. From April to June 2022, this study selected 14201 students from 13 middle schools in a certain district of Tianjin as the research subject using the convenient cluster sampling method. Among these students, 13374 accepted and completed the survey, with an effective rate of 94.2%.The demographic data and basic information of adolescents, such as height and weight, were collected through a general situation questionnaire. The sleep rhythm of adolescents was evaluated using the reduced version of the morningness-eveningness questionnaire. RESULTS: A total of 13374 participants (6629 females, accounting for 49.56%; the average age is 15.21 ± 1.433 years) were analyzed. Among them, the survey showed that 2942 adolescent were obesity, accounting for 22% and 2104 adolescent were overweight, accounting for 15.7%. Among them, 1692 male adolescents are obese, with an obesity rate of 25.1%, higher than 18.9% of female adolescents. There is a statistically significant difference between the three groups (χ2 = 231.522, P < 0.000). The obesity group has the smallest age (14.94 ± 1.442 years), and there is a statistical difference in age among the three groups (F = 69.996, P < 0.000).Obesity rates are higher among individuals who are not-only-child, have residential experience within six months, have family economic poverty, and have evening-type sleep (P < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis shows a correlation between sleep rhythm and adolescent obesity. Evening-type sleep rhythm can increase the risk of obesity in male adolescents [1.250 (1.067-1.468)], but the effect on female obesity is not remarkable. Further logistic regression analysis in the overall population demonstrates that the interaction between evening-type sleep rhythm and the male gender poses a risk of adolescent obesity [1.122 (1.043-1.208)]. CONCLUSION: Among adolescents, the incidence of obesity in males is higher than in females. Evening-type sleep rhythm plays an important role in male obesity but has no significant effect on female obesity. Progressive analysis suggests an interactive effect of sleep rhythm and gender on adolescent obesity, and the combination of evening-type sleep and the male gender promotes the development of adolescent obesity. In formulating precautions against adolescent obesity, obesity in male adolescents with evening-type sleep should be a critical concern.

Previous studies supported the association between insomnia symptoms and suicidal ideation in patients with mental or psychological diseases. This study aimed to examine the associations between insomnia symptoms, general self-efficacy, and suicidal ideation among community-based adult population. Standardized questionnaire was distributed to 2051 community-dwelling adults in Lishui district of Jiangsu Province in China, to assess their socio-demographics, insomnia symptoms, general self-efficacy, and suicidal ideation. Multiple binary logistic regression or linear regression and mediation analysis with bootstrap resampling method were performed. Results showed that the weighted prevalence of lifetime suicidal ideation was 6.38%. Insomnia symptom was associated with higher odds of suicidal ideation after adjusting for sociodemographics and mental health status (odds ratio [OR] = 2.85, and the OR of insomnia symptom with suicidal ideation decreased but remained significant after additionally adjusting for general self-efficacy (OR = 2.62). Participants with insomnia symptom were also significantly associated with lower general self-efficacy (ß = -0.96), whereas higher general self-efficacy was associated with a lower odds of suicidal ideation (OR = 0.92). In conclusion, general self-efficacy was associated with both insomnia symptom and suicidal ideation among the community-dwelling adult population.

ABSTRACT

A new type of adsorbent, a Prussian blue analog-based copper-aluminum layered double hydroxide (PBA@CuAl-LDH), was successfully synthesized using a one-step method for the removal of radioactive Cs+ from wastewater. The adsorption performance, characteristics and the underlying adsorption mechanism of PBA@CuAl-LDH were systematically examined. The results showed that PBA@CuAl-LDH exhibited excellent adsorption performance, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 109.2 mg g-1. Over 85% of PBA@CuAl-LDH can be recycled, and the material exhibited only a 6.6% loss in adsorption performance. The adsorption process was well-fitted using the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the Freundlich isotherm model, revealing the surface heterogeneity of the composite adsorbent. A molecular model of PBA@CuAl-LDH was constructed by combining density functional theory and multiple instrumental characterization techniques. Our results indicate that PBA crystals can be generated between layers and on the surface. Ion exchange was revealed as the main adsorption mechanism of Cs+ by PBA@CuAl-LDH. Specifically, the interstitial spaces of the PBA crystals generated between the layers and on the surface played an important role in ion exchange. These findings provide concrete theoretical support for radioactive pollution control and have significant value in directing the fabrication of cesium removal materials and their future engineering application.

ABSTRACT

Immunity-related GTPase M (IRGM), an Interferon-inducible protein, functions as a pivotal immunoregulator in multiple autoimmune diseases and infection. However, the role of IRGM in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development remains unveiled. Here, we found interferon-γ (IFN-γ) treatment in HCC drastically triggered the expression of IRGM, and the high level of IRGM indicated poor prognosis in HCC patients. Functionally, IRGM promoted the malignant progression of HCC. Single-cell sequencing revealed that IRGM inhibition promoted the infiltration of CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) with significant downregulation of PD-L1 expression in HCC. Furthermore, Immunoprecipitation-Mass Spectrometry assay revealed that IRGM interacted with transcription factor YBX1, which facilitated PD-L1 transcription. Mechanistically, IRGM promoted the interaction of YBX1 and phosphokinase S6K1, increasing phosphorylation and nuclear localization of YBX1, transcription of PD-L1. Additionally, the combination of IRGM inhibition with α-PD1 demonstrated a stronger anti-tumor effect compared to the single application of α-PD1. In summary, IRGM is a novel regulator of PD-L1, which suppresses CD8+ CTLs infiltration and function in HCC, resulting in cancer progression. This study may raise a novel therapeutic strategy combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) against HCC.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: Accumulating evidence indicates a strong link between knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and sarcopenia. However, the mechanisms involved have not yet been elucidated. This study primarily aims to explore the molecular mechanisms that explain the connection between these 2 disorders. Methods: The gene expression profiles for KOA and sarcopenia were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, specifically from GSE55235, GSE169077, and GSE1408. Various bioinformatics techniques were employed to identify and analyze common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) across the 3 datasets. The techniques involved the analysis of Gene Ontology and pathways to enhance understanding, examining protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks, and identifying hub genes. In addition, we constructed the network of interactions between transcription factors (TFs) and genes, the co-regulatory network of TFs and miRNAs for hub genes, and predicted potential drugs. Results: In total, 14 common DEGs were found between KOA and sarcopenia. Detailed information on biological processes and signaling pathways of common DEGs was obtained through enrichment analysis. After performing PPI network analysis, we discovered 4 hub genes (FOXO3, BCL6, CDKN1A, and CEBPB). Subsequently, we developed coregulatory networks for these hub genes involving TF-gene and TF-miRNA interactions. Finally, we identified 10 potential chemical compounds. Conclusions: By conducting bioinformatics analysis, our study has successfully identified common gene interaction networks between KOA and sarcopenia. The potential of these findings to offer revolutionary understanding into the common development of these 2 conditions could lead to the identification of valuable targets for therapy.

BACKGROUND: Associations between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and common psychiatric disorders among older Chinese individuals have not been well reported. The objectives of this study are to examine the prevalence of ACEs and the associations of ACEs with common psychiatric disorders among older adults in China. METHODS: The study used data from the China Mental Health Survey (CMHS), a nationally representative epidemiological survey, which used computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI), logistic regression models were used to examine community-based adult psychiatric disorders and associated risk factors. Finally, 2,317 individuals aged 60 years or over were included in the CMHS. The national prevalence of ACEs in older adults were estimated and logistic regression were used to analyse the association between ACEs and past-year psychiatric disorders. RESULTS: Prevalence of ACEs among older adults in China was 18.1%. The three most common types of ACEs were neglect (11.6%), domestic violence (9.2%), and parental loss (9.1%). This study proved the association between ACEs and common past-year psychiatric disorders in older adults. ACEs increased the risk of past-year psychiatric disorders in older adults. After adjustment for age, sex, marital status, employment status, education, rural or urban residence, region, and physical diseases, the association between ACEs and past-year psychiatric disorders were still significant. CONCLUSIONS: ACEs are linked to an increased risk for past-year psychiatric disorders in older adults. ACEs may have long-term effects on older adults' mental well-being. Preventing ACEs may help reduce possible adverse health outcomes in later life.

Immune balance is crucial for an organism's survival and is inseparable from the regulation of the nervous system. Accumulating evidence indicates that cholecystokinin (CCK) plays an important role in mediating the immune response through the activation of cholecystokinin receptors (CCKRs). However, it remains unclear whether CCKRs deficiency may impair immune balance. Here, we showed that CCK2R-deficient adult mice were immunocompromised and had an increased risk of shock and even death in an endotoxemia (ETM)/endotoxin shock (ES) model. In addition, in both adult and juvenile mice, CCK2R deficiency not only influenced the development of CD4 single-positive (SP) thymocytes in thymic positive selection but also decreased the population of CD3+ CD4+ T cells in the spleen. More importantly, CCK2R deficiency inhibited the expression of major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC II) and CD83 on cortical thymic epithelial cells (cTECs) in juvenile and adult mice. Overall, our study suggests that CCK2R is essential for maintaining CD4+ T cell development in the thymus and reveals that CCK2R plays an important role in maintaining immune balance.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Immunogenic cell death (ICD) has emerged as a promising strategy to activate the adaptive immune response, modulate the tumor microenvironment (TME) and enhance the efficacy of immune therapy. However, the relationship between ICD and TME reprogramming in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains poorly understood. METHODS: Transcriptional profiles and clinical spectrum of 486 HCC patients were obtained from TCGA and GEO databases. We utilized consensus clustering analysis to construct two distinct molecular subtypes and established an ICD-based scoring system (named ICD score) via WGCNA and LASSO Cox regression to predict the prognosis of the HCC cohort. Then we employed CIBERSORT and ESTIMATE methods to analyze the immune landscape of ICD score in HCC. Subsequently, the immunophenoscore (IPS) and tumor immune dysfunction and rejection (TIDE) analyses were performed to determine whether the ICD score could influence the immune therapeutic effect. Based on the ICD scoring system, a novel nomogram was generated to provide a numerical probability of HCC patients' overall survival (OS). RESULTS: We identified two independent ICD clusters (cluster A/B), and cluster B possessed a worse prognosis and higher immune cell infiltration. Using ICD scoring system, the HCC patients were divided into high- and low-ICD-score groups. Through integrative analyses, the high-ICD cohort owned advanced TNM stage, high pathologic grade and increased suppressive immune cell enrichment. We developed a nomogram containing the ICD score, demonstrating a high predictive accuracy with a C-index of 0.703. We further discovered that PSMD2 and PSMD14 could serve as ICD-associated prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets in HCC. CONCLUSION: The ICD score exhibits a high degree of reliability for predicting prognosis and may provide valuable guidance for the selection of immunotherapy for HCC patients. This novel scoring system enables the estimation of clinical immunotherapy response for HCC patients, offering new opportunities for personalized immunotherapy.

Introduction: The impact of intergenerational caregiving on the mental health of providers remains a controversial topic, especially in countries like China where it is prevalent. Given the country's aging population and recent liberalization of the two-child policy, understanding the effects of intergenerational caregiving on the mental health of middle-aged and older adult(s) individuals is crucial. This study aimed to explore the impact of intergenerational caregiving on mental health among middle-aged and older adult(s) individuals. Methods: We analyzed data from the China Health and Aging Tracking Survey (CHARLS) 2013, consisting of 6602 participants finally. Personal information, family structure, financial support, health status, and physical measurements were selected for analysis. Correlation and regression analyses were used for relationships among variables controlling for potential confounding variables. Mental health status was evaluated using the depression self-rating scale. Results: There is a significant positive effect of intergenerational care on the mental health of middle-aged and older adult(s) people. Additionally, we re-profiled intergenerational care variables by considering the number and length of intergenerational caregivers, and found that the effects remained significant. Furthermore, the effects of intergenerational care vary across subgroups based on gender, age, nature of usual residence, marital status, and physical health status. Finally, we identified two mechanisms through which intergenerational caregiving positively affects mental health: intergenerational financial support and intergenerational spiritual support. Discussion: These findings have important implications for policymakers, healthcare professionals, and family members in promoting the mental health of middle-aged and older adult(s) individuals in China.

Rotator cuff injuries account for 50% of shoulder disorders that can cause shoulder pain and reduced mobility. The occurrence of rotator cuff injury is related to the variation in shoulder load, but the mechanical changes in the rotator cuff caused by load remain unclear. Therefore, the mechanical results of the rotator cuff tissue during glenohumeral abduction and adduction were analyzed based on a finite element shoulder model under non-load (0 kg) and load (7.5 kg) conditions. The results showed that the maximum von Mises stress on the supraspinatus muscle was larger than that on the subscapularis, infraspinatus, and teres minor muscles during glenohumeral abduction. Compared with the non-load condition, the maximum von Mises stress on the supraspinatus muscle increased by 75% under the load condition at 30° abduction. Under the load condition, the supraspinatus joint side exhibited an average stress that was 32% greater than that observed on the bursal side. The von Mises stress on the infraspinatus muscle was higher than that in other rotator cuff tissues during adduction. The stress on the infraspinatus muscle increased by 36% in the load condition compared to the non-load condition at 30° adduction. In summary, the increased load changed the mechanical distribution of rotator cuff tissue and increased the stress differential between the joint aspect and the bursal aspect of the supraspinatus tendon.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The musculoskeletal imbalance caused by disease is one of the most critical factors leading to spinal injuries, like sarcopenia. However, the effects of musculoskeletal imbalances on the spine are difficult to quantitatively investigate. Thus, a complete finite element spinal model was established to analyze the effects of musculoskeletal imbalance, especially concerning sarcopenia. METHODS: A finite element spinal model with active muscles surrounding the vertebrae was established and validated from anatomic verification to the whole spine model in dynamic loading at multiple levels. It was then coupled with the previously developed neuromuscular model to quantitatively analyze the effects of erector spinae (ES) and multifidus (MF) sarcopenia on spinal tissues. The severity of the sarcopenia was classified into three levels by changing the physiological cross-sectional area (PCSA) of ES and MF, which were mild (60% PCSA of ES and MF), moderate (48% PCSA of ES and MF), and severe (36% PCSA of ES and MF). RESULTS: The stress and strain levels of most lumbar tissues in the sarcopenia models were more significant than those of the normal model during spinal extension movement. The sarcopenia caused load concentration in several specific regions. The stress level of the L4-L5 intervertebral disc and L1 vertebra significantly increased with the severity of sarcopenia and showed relatively larger values than other segments. From the normal model to a severe sarcopenia model, the stress value of the L4-L5 intervertebral disc and L1 vertebra increased by 128% and 113%, respectively. The strain level of L5-S1 also inclined significantly with the severity of sarcopenia, and the relatively larger capsule strain values occurred at lower back segments from L3 to S1. CONCLUSIONS: In summary, the validated spinal coupling model can be used for spinal injury risk analysis caused by musculoskeletal imbalance. The results suggested that sarcopenia can primarily lead to high injury risk of the L4-L5 intervertebral disc, L1 vertebrae, and L3-S1 joint capsule regarding significant stress or strain variance.

ABSTRACT

Along with rapid urbanization and intensive human activities, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) pollution in the Pearl River Estuary (PRE) and its effects on the microbial community have attracted extensive attention. However, the potential and mechanism of microbial degradation of PAHs across water and sediment habitats remain obscure. Herein, the estuarine microbial community structure, function, assembly process and co-occurrence patterns impacted by PAHs were comprehensively analyzed using environmental DNA-based approaches. The contamination and distribution of PAHs were jointly affected by anthropogenic and natural factors. Some of the keystone taxa were identified as PAH-degrading bacteria (i.e., genera Defluviimonas, Mycobacterium, families 67-14, Rhodobacteraceae, Microbacteriaceae and order Gaiellales in water) or biomarkers (i.e., Gaiellales in sediment) that were significantly correlated with PAH levels. The proportion of deterministic process in the high PAH-polluted water (76%) was much higher than that in the low pollution area (7%), confirming the significant effect of PAHs on the microbial community assembly. In sediment, the communities with high phylogenetic diversity demonstrated a great extent of niche differentiation, exhibited a stronger response to environmental variables and were strongly influenced by deterministic processes (40%). Overall, deterministic and stochastic processes are closely related to the distribution and mass transfer of pollutants, and substantially affect the biological aggregation and interspecies interaction within communities in the habitats.

ABSTRACT

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is one of the most severe sequelae of trauma. But a nationally representative epidemiological data for PTSD and trauma events (TEs) was unavailable in China. This article firstly demonstrated detailed epidemiological information on PTSD, TEs, and related comorbidities in the national-wide community-based mental health survey in China. A total of 9,378 participants completed the PTSD-related interview of the CIDI 3.0. Lifetime prevalence and 12-month prevalence of PTSD in total respondents were 0.3% and 0.2%. while the conditional lifetime and 12-month prevalence of PTSD after trauma exposure were 1.8% and 1.1%. The prevalence of exposure to any type of TE was 17.2%. Among individuals with the exposed to TEs, younger, without regular work (being a homemaker or retried), and intimate relationship breakdown (separated/Widowed/Divorced), living rurally were associated with either the lifetime PTSD or the 12-month PTSD, while the count of a specific TE, the unexpected death of loved one, was related to both. Alcohol dependence was the most common comorbidity among male participants with PTSD but major depressive disorder (MDD) for female counterparts. Our study can provide a reliable reference for future identification and intervention for people with PTSD.

ABSTRACT

Load can change the mechanical environment of dynamic and static stable structures of the shoulder joint, increase the risk of tissue damage and affect the stability of the shoulder joint, but its biomechanical mechanism is still unclear. Therefore, a finite element model of the shoulder joint was constructed to analyze the mechanical index changes of shoulder joint abduction under different loads. The stress of the articular side on the supraspinatus tendon was higher than that of the capsular side, with a maximum difference of 43% due to the increased load. For the deltoid muscle and glenohumeral ligaments, increases in stress and strain were obvious in the middle and posterior deltoid muscles and inferior glenohumeral ligaments. The above results indicate that load increases the stress difference between the articular side and the capsular side on the supraspinatus tendon and increases the mechanical indices of the middle and posterior deltoid muscles, as well as the inferior glenohumeral ligament. The increased stress and strain in these specific sites can lead to tissue injury and affect the stability of the shoulder joint.
