ABSTRACT

Polarization photodetection taking advantage of the anisotropy of 2D materials shines brilliantly in optoelectronic fields owing to differentiating optical information. However, the previously reported polarization detections are mostly dependent on external power sources, which is not conducive to device integration and energy conservation. Herein, a 2D polar perovskite (CBA)2 CsPb2 Br7 (CCPB, CBA = 4-chlorobenzyllamine) has been successfully synthesized, which shows anticipated bulk photovoltaic effect (BPVE) with an open-circuited photovoltage up to ≈0.2 V. Devices based on CCPB monomorph fulfill a fascinating self-powered polarized photodetection with a large polarization ratio of 2.7 at room temperature. Moreover, CCPB features a high phase-transition temperature (≈475 K) which prompts such self-powered polarized photodetection in a large temperature window of device operation, since BPVE generated by spontaneous polarization can only exist in the polar structure prior to the phase transition. Further computational investigation reveals the introduction of CBA+ with a large dipole moment contributes to quite large polarization (17.5 µC cm-2 ) and further super high phase transition temperature of CCPB. This study will promote the application of 2D perovskite materials for self-powered polarized photodetection in high-temperature conditions.

ABSTRACT

Hybrid perovskites have great potential in photovoltaics and photodetection. Specially, two-dimensional (2D) hybrid perovskites have been discovered to show distinctive applications in polarization-sensitive photodetection due to their intrinsic anisotropy. Herein, we designed a new type of 2D perovskite by introducing bifunctional alkylammonium as an organic spacer, (ß-Ala)4PbBr4 (1, where ß-Ala+ is 3-aminopropanoic), which has four organic spacers in adjacent inorganic layers and adjacent organic layers are linked by hydrogen bonding. The pioneering structure with four organic spacers enables an intrinsic high strong anisotropy, facilitating polarization-sensitive detection. The analysis of the crystal structure and optical properties further elucidates the natural anisotropic properties of 1. Strikingly, 1 has a strong optical dichroism (αc/αb ≈ 7.4 in 405 nm), and the polarization-sensitive detector on single crystals of 1 exhibits a large polarization ratio (Imax/Imin ≈ 2.0). This result highlights that the employment of bifunctional cations is efficient to explore new type 2D perovskites for potentially high-performance polarization-sensitive detection.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this experiment was to investigate whether dietary coenzyme Q10 could alleviate stress response of Micropterus salmoides caused by oxidized fish oil. Four isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets were formulated to contain 100% fresh fish oil (FFO), 50% fresh fish oil + 50% oxidized fish oil (BFO), 100% oxidized fish oil (OFO) and 100% oxidized fish oil + 0.1% coenzyme Q10 (QFO) and were fed to Micropterus salmoides (95 ± 0.60 g) for 70 days. Higher weight gain rate was recorded in fish fed diet supplemented with coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). FFO and BFO significantly increased contents of fat and energy in whole-body, while protein and energy retention significantly decreased in fish fed OFO. Apparent digestibility of energy and fat showed a significant decrease trend with increased the proportion of dietary oxidized fish oil. Fish fed OFO significantly increased activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase, while CoQ10 supplementation significantly reduced activities of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase in plasma. Contents of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and highly unsaturated fatty acids, especially EPA and DHA in liver and muscle significantly decreased in fish fed OFO. Transcriptome analysis indicated that a total of 1238, 1189 and 1773 differentially expressed genes (DEGs, |log2(fold change) | >= 1 and q-value<=0.001) were found in the three comparison groups (FFO vs. OFO, FFO vs. QFO, OFO vs. QFO), respectively. After KEGG enrichment, the main changed pathways in the two comparison groups (FFO vs. OFO, OFO vs. QFO) related to the immune system. Dietary OFO up-regulated the expression of immune-related genes and inflammatory factors, while dietary CoQ10 supplementation reduced these effects.

ABSTRACT

Ocean-caught large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) represents an important germplasm resource for the breeding of this species; however, these fish tend to show poor survival in captivity and would be unsuitable breeding purposes. As an alternative to the use of wild-caught croakers, germ cell transplantation has been proposed using the L. crocea specimens as donors and yellow drum (Nibea albiflora) as recipients. In this regard, the identification of L. crocea and N. albiflora germ cells is an essential prerequisite for establishing a germ cell transplantation protocol for these fish. In this study, we cloned the 3' untranslated regions (UTR) of the vasa, dnd, and nanos2 genes in N. albiflora using the rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) method and then aligned and analyzed the sequences of the corresponding genes in L. crocea and N. albiflora. On the basis of gene sequence differences, we designed species-specific primers and probes for RT-PCR analysis and in situ hybridization. RT-PCR analysis revealed that these species-specific primers exclusively amplified DNA from gonads of the respective species, thus confirming that we had six specific primer pairs that could be used to distinguish the germ cells in L. crocea and N. albiflora. Using in situ hybridization analysis, we established that whereas Lcvasa and Nadnd probes showed high species specificity, the probes for Navasa and Lcdnd showed a less specificity. In situ hybridization using Lcvasa and Nadnd thus enabled us to visualize the germ cells in these two species. Using these species-specific primers and probes, we can reliably distinguish the germ cells of L. crocea and N. albiflora, thereby establishing an effective approach for the post-transplantation identification of germ cells when using L. crocea and N. albiflora as donors and recipients, respectively.

ABSTRACT

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites carry unique semiconducting properties and advanced flexible crystal structures. These characteristics of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites create a promising candidacy for circularly polarized light (CPL) detection. However, CPL detections based on chiral perovskites are limited to UV and visible wavelengths. The natural quantum well structures of layered hybrid perovskites generate strong light-matter interactions. This makes it possible to achieve near-infrared (NIR) CPL detection via two-photon absorption in the sub-wavelength region. In this study, cooperative strategies of dimension increase and mixed spacer cations are used to obtain a pair of chiral multilayered perovskites (R-ß-MPA)EA2 Pb2 Br7 and (S-ß-MPA)EA2 Pb2 Br7 (MPA = methylphenethylammonium and EA = ethylammonium). The distinctive bi-cations interlayer and multilayered inorganic skeletons provide enhanced photoconduction. Moreover, superior photoconduction leads to the prominent NIR CPL response with a responsivity up to 8.1 × 10-5 A W-1 . It is anticipated that this work can serve as a benchmark for the fabrication and optimization of efficient NIR CPL detection by simple chemical design.

ABSTRACT

Benefiting from superior semiconducting properties and the angle-dependence of the bulk photovoltaic effect (BPVE) on polarized light, the two-dimensional (2D) hybrid perovskite ferroelectrics are developed for sensitive self-powered polarized photodetection. Most of the currently reported ferroelectric-driven polarized photodetection is restricted to the shortwave optical response, and expanding the response range is urgently needed. Here we report the first instance of a FAPbI3-derived (2D) perovskite ferroelectric, (BA)2(FA)Pb2I7 (1, BA is n-butylammonium, FA is formamidinium). It exhibited a notably high thermostability and broad-spectrum adsorption extending to around 650 nm. Significantly, 1 demonstrated ferroelectricity-driven self-powered polarized photodetection under 637 nm with an anisotropic photocurrent ratio of ∼1.96, ultrahigh detectivity of 3.34 × 1012 Jones, and long-term repetition. This research will shed light on the development of new ferroelectrics for potential application in broad-spectrum polarization-based optoelectronics.

ABSTRACT

Insulin-like peptide receptor (ILPR) can effectively regulate ovarian development in invertebrates, but its effect in cuttlefish has not been reported. We isolated and characterized a ILPR gene from Sepiella japonica, referred to as SjILPR. This gene displayed significant homologies to Octopus bimaculoides ILPR, and contained all typical features of insulin receptors and tyrosine kinase domain structure. SjILPR is expressed in all detected tissues, with the highest expression in the ovary. During ovarian development stages, its expression levels in the ovary, pancreas, and liver were correlated to the female reproductive cycle. After the silencing of SjILPR in vivo, comparative transcriptome analysis identified 4314 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the injected group, including 2586 down-regulated genes and 1728 up-regulated genes. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analyses revealed that 832 DEGs were assigned to 222 pathways, many pathways of which were related to gonadal development. Four down-regulated genes relevant to ovarian development (Vitellogenin 1, Vitellogenin 2, Cathepsin L1-like, and Follistatin) were selected to confirm the accuracy of RNA-seq data by qRT-PCR. These results showed that SjILPR might regulate ovarian development to control reproduction by affecting the expression of the relevant genes in female S. japonica.

ABSTRACT

2D van der Waals materials are widely explored for in-plane polarized light detection owing to their distinctive in-plane anisotropic feature. However, most of these polarized light-sensitive devices root in their low symmetry of in-plane structure and work depending on external power sources, which greatly impedes the simplification of integrated devices and sustainable development. Bulk photovoltaic effect (BPVE), which separates photoexcited carriers via built-in electric field without an external power source and shows an angle-dependence on light polarization, is promising for self-powered polarized light detection to break through the restriction of in-plane anisotropy. Herein, a 2D lead-free van der Waals perovskite (Cl-PMA)2 CsAgBiBr7 (1, Cl-PMA = 4-Chlorobenzylamine) is successfully designed through the dimension reduction strategy. 1 exhibits BPVE with an open-circuited photovoltage up to ≈0.5 V. Driven by the BPVE, self-powered in-plane polarized light detection with a large polarization ratio of 1.3 is obtained for 1. As far as it is known, the first in-plane polarized light detection in hybrid perovskites based on BPVE is realized here. This work highlights the strategy of designing lead-free hybrid perovskite with BPVE and opens an avenue for exploiting in-plane highly sensitive polarized light detection in 2D van der Waals materials.

ABSTRACT

Visible-infrared dual-modal light harvesting is crucial for various optoelectronic devices, particularly for solar cells and photodetectors. Hybrid metal-halide perovskites are recently emerging for visible-infrared dual-modal photodetection owing to their prominent multiphoton absorption and carrier transport performances. However, they work relying on an applied external power source or complicated heterostructures. It is still a difficult task to realize visible-infrared dual-modal self-powered photoresponse induced by a bulk photovoltaic effect (BPVE) in a single material. In this work, we constructed a polar multilayered perovskite, (Br-BA)2(EA)2Pb3Br10 (BEP; EA+ = ethylammonium, and Br-BA+ = 4-brombutylammonium). Notably, the polar feature endows BEP with a BPVE. In addition, BEP presents a distinctive two-photon activity arising from the layered quantum-well structure. Benefitting from these striking characteristics, self-powered visible-infrared dual-modal photodetection is realized, and a direct self-powered detection of 800 nm light with a photocurrent of 2.1 nA cm-2 is achieved. This work will inspire the design of desired photoelectric materials with a BPVE for high-performance self-powered visible-infrared dual-modal photodetection.
