ABSTRACT

The pulsed optically pumped (POP) atomic clock has demonstrated unexpected performance in terms of frequency stability and drift. However, it remains a huge challenge to make this type of atomic clock more compact. Herein, we report the design of a miniaturized physics package, which is equipped with a magnetron microwave cavity holding a vapor cell of 1.3 cm internal diameter. The Zeeman transition spectrum reveals that the microwave cavity resonates in TE011-like mode. Based on a low-noise testbed, we also quantitatively analyze the relaxation time, linewidth, and noise sources of the resulting POP atomic clock. The population and coherence relaxation time are measured to be 3.16(0.16) and 2.97(0.03) ms under the temperature of 333 K, which are compatible well with the theoretical calculation. The Ramsey signal shows a contrast of 35% and a linewidth of 192 Hz. The total volume of the physics package is about 44 cm3, including a layer of magnetic shielding. The short-term frequency stability is measured to be 4.8 × 10-13τ-1/2 (where τ is the averaging time), which is mainly limited by the relative intensity noise of the laser system.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we present a high-precision optical frequency noise detection and comparison technique using a two-way transfer method over a 260 km field fiber link. This method allows for the comparison of optical frequencies between remote optical references without the need for data transfer through communication. We extend a previously established two-way comparison technique to obtain all data at the local site. Two optical carrier signals are injected into the bidirectional fiber from both ends, and one carrier is reflected back from the remote end. This enables the phase comparison of the two carrier signals at a single site without the need to transmit experimental data. The common-mode frequency noise induced by the bidirectional fiber link is detected and effectively suppressed without the need for sophisticated active fiber noise control. Our demonstration system, which uses a 260 km field fiber link and a common laser source, achieves a fractional instability of 2.5×10-17 at 1 s averaging time and scales down to 3.5×10-21 at 8000 s. This scheme offers the distinct advantage of completing the comparison at a single site, eliminating the need for remote data transfer via communication. This method is expected to enhance reliability for high-precision frequency comparisons between remote optical clocks and advanced atomic clocks.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: Microbial contamination of various accessory parts of the dental chair units (DCUs) is an essential source of cross infection, while the accessories of the crucial suction function are usually overlooked. In this study, we aim to find an effective disinfectant and a cost-effective method to remove bacterioplankton and bacterial biofilm deposited in the negative pressure suction pipelines to control cross infection during dental treatment. Methods: Double-chain quaternary ammonium salt disinfectant (Orotol Plus®), 3% hydrogen peroxide solution plus multi-enzyme cleaning agent and chlorine disinfectant are used to clean and disinfect the negative pressure pipelines of DCUs. Microbiological examinations, air condition detection, corrosion tests and gene sequencing are performed. Results: Little bacteria grow in the pipelines disinfected with double-chain quaternary ammonium salt disinfectants, destruction of biofilms in these pipelines appears, and multi-resistant bacteria cannot be detected. Minimal damage to metal sheets and fittings is caused by double-chain quaternary ammonium salt disinfectants. Conclusion: Double-chain quaternary ammonium salt disinfectant has excellent bactericidal ability and anti-biofilm effect, and it is less corrosive to the fittings of the pipelines. Thus, the double-chain quaternary ammonium salt disinfectant is a potential novel disinfectant for negative pressure suction pipelines of DCUs to control cross infection during dental treatment. Clinical significance: It is essential to add all these data to our dental practice to control cross infection with a broader landscape.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the disinfection quality and influencing factors of nurseries in Nanjing during 2019-2021, so as to provide a scientific basis for optimizing preventive disinfection strategies and measures in nurseries.@*Methods@#Environmental samples from 389 nurseries in Nanjing from January 2019 to December 2021 were tested, and the change of disinfection quality qualification rate was compared.@*Results@#The overall disinfection qualification rate of nurseries of year 2019-2021 were 96.32%, 95.85% and 94.60%, respectively, showing a downward trend ( χ 2 trend =8.67, P <0.05). Specifically, disinfection qualification rate of object surfaces, staff hands and tableware showed a downward trend, while the disinfection qualification rate of dynamic air showed an upward trend, and the differences were statistically significant ( χ 2 trend =23.17, 12.32, 5.37, 21.48, P <0.05). The total qualification rate of disinfection in Jiangning and Liuhe districts increased during 2019-2021( χ 2 trend =21.46, 24.05, P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#Disinfection quality of nurseries in Nanjing has declined by year during 2019-2021, especially the object surfaces and staff hands. It is urgent to optimize and refine the strategies and measures for preventive disinfection in nurseries, strengthen the training of personnel on disinfection knowledge, and ensure the quality of disinfection in nurseries.
