ABSTRACT

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a transformative advancement in the endoscopic management of superficial gastrointestinal lesions. Initially conceived for the treatment of early gastric cancer, ESD has demonstrated proficiency in achieving en-bloc resection of superficial gastrointestinal lesions. ESD has experienced widespread acceptance in Japan and East Asia; however, its adoption in the USA remains delayed. This initial hesitancy could be attributed to procedural complexity and training demands; nonetheless, recently, ESD has been gaining popularity in the USA. This is due to the advancements in endoscopic technology, tailored training programs, and cumulative evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of ESDs. This review aimed to deliberate the historical progress, current implementation, and prospective trajectory of ESDs in the USA. With ongoing clinical research, technological integration, and educational efforts, ESD is likely to become the gold standard for managing large gastrointesitinal lesions. This progress marks an imperative step toward less invasive, more precise, and patient-centric approaches regarding advanced therapeutic endoscopy in the USA.

ABSTRACT

Introducción: Una educación de calidad para los estudiantes universitarios de las ciencias médicas es parte de la política establecida por el Estado cubano para el nivel superior. En correspondencia se desarrolla un proyecto de investigación dirigido a la elevación de la calidad en el proceso formativo de los estudiantes de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey; por ello el presente texto tiene como objetivo exponer los resultados del proceso de caracterización de la situación problémica asumida, atendiendo a las dimensiones lingüística y tecnológica, a partir de la aplicación de los instrumentos de investigación durante la etapa del diagnóstico inicial a profesionales y estudiantes que conforman la muestra. Método: La investigación clasifica como I+D, de carácter observacional explicativo causal, que produce sistemas de acciones para elevar la calidad de la formación del futuro profesional de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey y se desarrolla entre enero de 2023 y diciembre de 2024. El muestreo no probabilístico por cuota está constituido por estudiantes de las diferentes facultades, docentes, profesionales y trabajadores no docentes. Resultados: Se constataron insuficiencias en el desarrollo de las habilidades informáticas para complementar sus estudios mediante la búsqueda de información en los entornos virtuales de aprendizaje, a lo que se suman las dificultades que presentan los alumnos dela muestra para expresarse y comprender textos, valiéndose del empleo del inglés con fines profesionales. Discusión: Se confrontaron los resultados con los de otros estudiosos que, a nivel nacional y mundial, han investigado sobre la temática acerca del logro de la calidad en los procesos de formación en la universidad y con ello se corroboró la utilidad del estudio.


Introduction: A quality education for university students of medical sciences is part of the policy established by the Cuban State for Higher Education. Correspondingly, a research project is being developed aimed at raising the quality in the training process of the students of the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey; For this reason, the objective of this text is to present the results of the process of characterization of the assumed problematic situation, taking into account the linguistic and technological dimensions, based on the application of research instruments during the initial diagnosis stage to professionals and students who make up the sample. Method: The research is classified as R&D, of a causal explanatory observational nature, which produces systems of actions to raise the quality of the training of future professionals at the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey and is developed between January 2023 and December 2024. The non-probabilistic sampling by quota is made up of students from different faculties, teachers, professionals and non-teaching workers. Results: Insufficiencies were found in the development of computer skills to complement their studies through the search for information in virtual learning environments, to which are added the difficulties that the students in the sample present in expressing themselves and understanding texts, using the use of English for professional purposes. Discussion: The results were compared with those of con scholars who, at a national and global level, have investigated the topic of achieving quality in training processes at the university, and with this the usefulness of the study was corroborated.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The emergency resuscitation nurse is a challenging and specialised role at the forefront of critical care practice in the emergency department. Despite their extensive specialist knowledge and skill requirements, in Australia there is no state-wide or nationally agreed approach to how to best provide training that meets a set of fixed objectives and requisite skills for resuscitation nurses. Due to an ageing nursing population and increasing workforce attrition, an efficacious accelerated pathway to acquire specialist resuscitation nursing knowledge, is necessary. AIM: The aim of this review is to identify, consolidate and summarise the available evidence on the training needs for the requisite clinical and non-technical skills of emergency resuscitation nurses ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Papers about nurses currently working in the emergency department; including Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs), Clinical Nurse Educators (CNEs), Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNCs), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), Registered Nurses (RNs) and Enrolled Nurses (ENs) were included. The review included primary and non-primary research, including papers addressing how emergency nurses are trained. There was no date limitation set to ensure all results could be reviewed. Papers that were not published in English, included nurses who were not working in the ED, or included doctors, allied health, and other staff where population cohorts could not be distinguished, were excluded. Abstract only, editorials, conference posters or oral presentations, were also excluded. SOURCES OF EVIDENCE: Searches were conducted in MEDLINE, CINAHL and EMCARE. The authors conducted extensive hand-searching of the included study reference lists as well as the grey literature to ensure that all relevant literature was captured. METHODS: A scoping literature review was conducted. RESULTS: Data extraction was conducted on the final 33 articles (23 peer reviewed studies and 10 competency and practice standards documents). Specific training requirements to achieve competence in the requisite clinical and non-technical skills in resuscitation nursing do not exist. A decline in competency without regular reinforcement was reported. Multi-modal approaches, incorporating diverse teaching methods, show potential in enhancing knowledge retention and skill acquisition. CONCLUSION: Resuscitation nursing lacks a standardised training approach in Australia, leading to a gap in ensuring consistent skill acquisition and knowledge among nurses. Research is required to identify what resuscitation nursing skills and training are necessary to ensure practice effectively meets the needs of patients.

OBJECTIVES: Report two-years of training injury data in senior and academy professional rugby league. DESIGN: Prospective cohort study. METHODS: Match and training time-loss injuries and exposure data were recorded from two-seasons of the European Super League competition. Eleven/12 (2021) and 12/12 (2022) senior and 8/12 (2021) and 12/12 (2022) academy teams participated. Training injuries are described in detail and overall match injuries referred to for comparison only. RESULTS: 224,000 training exposure hours were recorded with 293 injuries at the senior (mean [95 % confidence interval]; 3 [2-3] per 1000 h) and 268 academy level (2 [2-3] per 1000 h), accounting for 31 % and 40 % of all injuries (i.e., matches and training). The severity of training injuries (senior: 35 [30-39], academy: 36 [30-42] days-lost) was similar to match injuries. Lower-limb injuries had the greatest injury incidence at both levels (senior: 1.85 [1.61-2.12], academy: 1.28 [1.08-1.51] per 1000 h). Head injuries at the academy level had greater severity (35 [25-45] vs. 18 [12-14] days-lost; p < 0.01) and burden (17 [16-18] vs. 4 [4-5] days-lost per 1000 h; p = 0.02) than senior level. At the senior level, the incidence of contact injuries was lower than non-contact injuries (risk ratio: 0.29 [0.09-0.88], p = 0.02). CONCLUSIONS: Training injuries accounted for about a third of injuries, with similar injury severity to match-play. Within training there is a higher rate of non-contact vs. contact injuries. Whilst current injury prevention interventions target matches, these data highlight the importance of collecting high quality training injury data to develop and evaluate injury prevention strategies in training.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The acute and long-term benefits of exercise training on cardiovascular health have been well established. The systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to systematically assess the effectiveness of exercise training on arterial stiffness and blood pressure among postmenopausal women with elevated blood pressure. METHODS: A comprehensive search was conducted on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, ProQuest, Cochrane Library, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and ClinicalTrials.gov website from inception to September 30, 2023, to identify the randomized controlled trials (RCTs), which evaluated the effectiveness of exercise training on arterial stiffness and blood pressure in postmenopausal women. Standardized mean differences (SMD), weighted mean differences (WMD), and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were calculated using random/fixed effects models. Quality assessment was performed using the modified Jadad scale and the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool. Sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis were conducted based on drug dosage, treatment duration, and age of administration to further explore potential heterogeneity. Funnel plots were performed to assess publication bias and Begg's regression test was carried out for funnel plot asymmetry. RESULTS: Twenty-two RCTs involving 1978 participants were included in the quantitative analysis. The mean quality of eligible studies was 4.2 out of 7 based on the modified Jadad scale. The results indicated that exercise training had a significant effect on reducing brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity [MD = - 0.69, 95%CI (- 1.11, - 0.27), P = 0.001], decreasing augmentation index (AIx) [MD = - 6.00, 95%CI (- 6.39, - 5.61), P < 0.00001] and AIx normalized to a heart rate of 75 beats per minute (AIx@75%) [MD = - 7.01, 95%CI - 7.91 to - 6.12, P < 0.00001], lowering systolic blood pressure [MD = - 6.19, 95%CI - 9.24 to - 3.15, P < 0.0001], diastolic blood pressure [MD = - 3.57, 95%CI (- 6.10, - 1.03), P = 0.006) and pulse pressure [MD = - 8.52, 95%CI (- 16.27, - 0.76), P = 0.03]. Subgroup analysis revealed that baseline blood pressure levels had a large impact on the effect of exercise training. CONCLUSIONS: The systematic review and meta-analysis suggested that exercise training may ameliorate arterial stiffness and reduce blood pressure in postmenopausal women with elevated blood pressure. However, the optimal mode of exercise training that improves arterial stiffness and blood pressure in this population requires further investigation. ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Communication partner training is a recommended intervention for partners of people with acquired brain injury. In this paper we explore the past, present, and future of communication partner training (CPT) based on our 2023 Speech Pathology Australia national conference address. METHOD: We focus on our research team's contributions, and highlight research knowledge across stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and dementia. This work is anchored in the voice of people with communication disability. One partner in the CPT journey, Rosey Morrow, co-authors this paper. RESULT: The CPT evidence base for acquired neurological conditions is growing, including in the areas of technology, co-design, and translation. However, knowledge and implementation gaps remain. CONCLUSION: The future of CPT will require us to harness co-design and technology, whilst meeting the implementation challenges of complex systems to enable communication for all.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the effects of heavy-load strength training during (neo-)adjuvant chemotherapy in women with breast cancer on muscle strength, body composition, muscle fiber size, satellite cells, and myonuclei. Women with stage I-III breast cancer were randomly assigned to a strength training group (ST, n = 23) performing supervised heavy-load strength training twice a week during chemotherapy, or a usual care control group (CON, n = 17). Muscle strength and body composition were measured and biopsies from m. vastus lateralis collected before the first cycle of chemotherapy (T0) and after chemotherapy and training (T1). Muscle strength increased significantly more in ST than in CON in chest-press (ST: +10 ± 8%, p < .001, CON: -3 ± 5%, p = .023) and leg-press (ST: +11 ± 8%, p < .001, CON: +3 ± 6%, p = .137). Both groups reduced fat-free mass (ST: -4.9 ± 4.0%, p < .001, CON: -5.2 ± 4.9%, p = .004), and increased fat mass (ST: +15.3 ± 16.5%, p < .001, CON: +16.3 ± 19.8%, p = .015) with no significant differences between groups. No significant changes from T0 to T1 and no significant differences between groups were observed in muscle fiber size. For myonuclei per fiber a non-statistically significant increase in CON and a non-statistically significant decrease in ST in type I fibers tended (p = .053) to be different between groups. Satellite cells tended to decrease in ST (type I: -14 ± 36%, p = .097, type II: -9 ± 55%, p = .084), with no changes in CON and no differences between groups. Strength training during chemotherapy improved muscle strength but did not significantly affect body composition, muscle fiber size, numbers of satellite cells, and myonuclei compared to usual care.

ABSTRACT

Background: Healthcare providers must possess the necessary knowledge and skills to perform effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). In the event of cardiopulmonary arrest, basic life support (BLS) is the initial step in the life-saving process before the advanced CPR team arrives. BLS simulation training using manikins has become an essential teaching methodology in nursing education, enhancing newly employed nurses' knowledge and skills and empowering them to provide adequate resuscitation. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the potential effect of BLS simulation training on knowledge and practice scores among newly employed nurses in Jordanian government hospitals. Methods: A total of 102 newly employed nurses were randomly assigned to two groups: the control group (n = 51) received standard training, and the experimental group (n = 51) received one full day of BLS simulation training. The training program used the American Heart Association (AHA)-BLS-2020 guidelines and integrated theoretical models such as Miller's Pyramid and Kolb's Cycle. Both groups were homogeneous in inclusion characteristics and pretest results. Knowledge and practice scores were assessed using 23 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Data were analyzed using one-way repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The results indicated significant differences in knowledge scores, F(2, 182) = 58.514, p <0.001, and practice scores, F(2, 182) = 20.134, p <0.001, between the control and experimental groups at all measurement times: pretest, posttest 1, and posttest 2. Moreover, Cohen's d reflected the effectiveness of BLS simulation training as an educational module, showing a large effect (Cohen's d = 1.568) on participants' knowledge levels and a medium effect (Cohen's d = 0.749) on participants' practice levels. Conclusion: The study concludes that BLS simulation training using the AHA-BLS-2020 guidelines and integrating theoretical models such as Miller's Pyramid and Kolb's Cycle significantly improves knowledge and practice scores among newly employed nurses, proving highly effective in enhancing their competencies in performing CPR. Implementing BLS simulation training in nursing education programs can significantly elevate the proficiency of newly employed nurses, ultimately improving patient outcomes during cardiopulmonary arrest situations. This training approach should be integrated into standard nursing curricula to ensure nurses are well-prepared for real-life emergencies. Trial Registry Number: NCT06001879.

Objectives: The purpose of this review is to summarize the characteristics and applications of current hysteroscopic training models. Methods: We conducted a systematic search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library for eligible studies published before March 2024. Manual screening of references and citation tracking were also performed. Results: Reported hysteroscopic training models included virtual reality simulators, non-biological material models, plant tissue models, animal tissue models, and human tissue models. No training model was distinctly superior in terms of realism, haptic feedback, availability of standardized scoring of operations, preparation difficulty, reusability of surgical procedure, and prices. Utilizing any type of models for hysteroscopy simulation training could assist trainees in enhancing relevant knowledge, skills, self-confidence, and comfort, but virtual reality models had an advantage in training capacity. Conclusions: Each hysteroscopic training model has its advantages and disadvantages. An appropriate training curriculum is needed to efficiently leverage the merits of different models. The realism and training effectiveness of various training models need to be compared using rigorously designed studies and standard evaluation tools.

This study aimed to assess the impact of a 16-week combined training program on the physical performance of 20 male Air Force pilots, with an average age of 31.87 ± 2.75 years, body mass of 76.33 ± 0.79 kg, and height of 175.55 ± 3.65 cm. This intervention encompassed both aerobic and strength training, involving six weekly training sessions. The participants were categorized into two groups based on their initial physical performance levels to explore potential baseline influences on post-intervention adaptations. The study measured changes in estimated maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max), maximal strength, muscular endurance, and long jump performance before and after the training program. Repeated measures ANOVA revealed significant differences over time in the V ˙ O2 max (F = 86.898; p < 0.001; η p 2  = 0.821), handgrip strength right hand (F = 160.480; p < 0.001; η p 2  = 0.894), handgrip strength left hand (F = 102.196; p < 0.001; η p 2  = 0.843), squat maximal strength (F = 525.725; p < 0.001; η p 2  = 0.965), push-ups (F = 337.197; p < 0.001; η p 2  = 0.974), sit up (F = 252.500; p < 0.001; η p 2  = 0.930) and standing long jump (F = 521.714; p < 0.001; η p 2  = 0.965). In conclusion, the 16-week combined training regimen significantly enhanced the physical performance of Air Force pilots, regardless of their initial performance levels.

PURPOSE: To increase the number of medical students or residents who want to become surgeons, we must evaluate our program that recruits new young surgeons. METHODS: We planned surgical training programs for medical students and residents that we named the MANGOU (Miyazaki Advanced New General surgery Of University) training project in the Department of Surgery, Miyazaki University, Japan. From January 2016 through December 2022, we asked trainees who attended this training to complete questionnaires to evaluate their interest in surgery, confidence in surgical skills, and training. Scoring of the questionnaire responses was based on a 5-point Likert scale, and we evaluated this training prospectively. RESULTS: Among the 109 trainees participating in this training, 61 answered the questionnaires. Two participants found the training boring, but 59 (96.7%) enjoyed it. All of them answered "Yes" to wanting to participate in the next training. Respective pre- and post-training scores were as follows: confidence in surgical skills, 2.2 ± 1.0 and 3.0 ± 1.0 (p < 0.0001); interest in surgery, 4.2 ± 0.8 and 4.4 ± 0.5 (p = 0.0011); and willingness to become surgeons, 3.9 ± 0.7 and 4.1 ± 0.6 (p = 0.0011). All scores rose after MANGOU training. CONCLUSION: We planned MANGOU surgical wet lab training for medical students and residents that aimed to educate and recruit new surgeons. After joining the MANGOU training, the trainees' anxiety about surgery was reduced, their confidence in performing surgical procedures improved, they showed more interest in surgery, and they increased their motivation to become surgeons.

ABSTRACT

EUS interventions have an increasing role in the treatment for hepatobiliary-pancreatic diseases. However, the procedure itself is not frequently performed, needs expertise, and carries a high risk of complications. With these limitations, the hands-on practice model is very important for the endoscopist in training for EUS intervention. There have been various hands-on models for EUS interventions, ranging from in vivo living pig model to all-synthetic model. Although a living model provides realistic sensation, the preparation is complex and increases concerns for zoonotic issues. All-synthetic models are easier to prepare and store but not realistic and still need the room for improvement. Hybrid ex vivo model is more widely available and provides various training procedures but still needs special preparation for the porcine tissue.

ABSTRACT

This perspective article explores the potential of non-player characters (NPCs) in video games as a reflective tool for coaches to enhance participant engagement in sports. While coaches traditionally focus on movement skill instruction, their role extends to fostering young people's immersion in sports contexts and potentially contribute to the possibility of lifelong participation. However, challenges persist in translating coaching theory in coach education programs into practice, including the awareness of roles and how to make young people immersion in sports. Integrating elements from video games, where NPCs play pivotal roles in shaping player experiences, presents a possible avenue for re-thinking the role of coach, especially in participation. By drawing parallels between NPCs and coaches, this article advocates for a new reflection tool for coaching roles. Future research should investigate the effectiveness of leveraging NPCs to enhance athlete engagement and motivation, ultimately creating dynamic and inclusive coaching environments that cater to the evolving needs of participants.

Background: Information on specialist physiotherapeutic treatment for functional movement disorders is scarce. Previous studies focussed on functional gait disorders and availability of descriptions of the practical application especially for other body regions is very limited. Cases: We present two illustrative cases, demonstrating the key elements of physiotherapy for the treatment of functional movement disorders beyond gait difficulties. The individual applicability of the specific core elements of physiotherapy, adapted to the individual needs of each patient, are described. We also explain, how different sensory stimuli can be used to shift attention away from symptoms and thus reduce them. Moreover, we discuss how patients' agency can be encouraged and how this results in therapy key moments, contributing to a sustained improvement of symptoms. Conclusion: Thus, our case series are intended to guide clinicians and therapists alike, to promote disease-specific physiotherapy for this common and treatable neuropsychiatric disorder.

ABSTRACT

Background: For approximately 1.5 million healthcare practitioners working and registered within the United Kingdom there exists a mandatory requirement to undertake Continued Professional Development. Internationally, healthcare Continued Professional Development is fundamental for frontline staff to practice safely, effectively and maintain up to date skills combined with knowledge. A generally accepted purpose for these regulations is to help nurses and midwives maintain an updated skill set to care for patients safely and competently. This qualitative paper presents the findings from the first phase of, "Converting Willingness to Engagement" project conducting focus groups and interviews with stakeholder nurses in England, UK. This study used a phenomenological approach to draw on the lived experiences of the nurse participants who organise, manage and budget Continued Professional Development activities. Objectives: To explore ways to capture and retain nursing staff in postgraduate training and education to facilitate professional advancement, maintenance of registration and improve patient care. Design: Phase one involved a series of qualitative online (virtual) focus group discussions and interviews with stakeholder nurses who commission Continued Professional Development. Settings: A series of online (virtual) focus group discussions and interviews were then conducted between February and May 2021. Methods: A purposive sample was identified consisting of clinical service leads, advanced practitioners and matrons involved in workforce development as stakeholders. Results: Three key themes were identified; the role of the healthcare providers in staff development, staff support provision requirements, and the university's provision including Continued Professional Development. Conclusion: Partnership working allows academic partners in universities and healthcare institutions to support nurses in their endeavors to maintain their registrations, develop professionally through further education and Continued Professional Development.

ABSTRACT

Background: Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) is a key hormone factor that regulates glucose and lipid homeostasis. Exercise may regulate its effects and affect disease states. Therefore, we sought to determine how exercise affects FGF21 concentrations in adults. Methods: The review was registered in the International Prospective Systematic Review (PROSPERO, CRD42023471163). The Cochrane Library, PubMed, and Web of Science databases were searched for studies through July 2023. Studies that assessed the effects of exercise training on FGF21 concentration in adults were included. The random effect model, data with standardized mean difference (SMD), and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used to evaluate the pooled effect size of exercise training on FGF21. The risk of heterogeneity and bias were evaluated. A total of 12 studies involving 401 participants were included. Results: The total effect size was 0.3 (95% CI [-0.3-0.89], p = 0.33) when comparing participants who exercised to those who were sedentary. However, subgroup analysis indicated that concurrent exercise and a duration ≥10 weeks significantly decreased FGF21 concentrations with an effect size of -0.38 (95% CI [-0.74--0.01], p < 0.05) and -0.38 (95% CI [-0.63--0.13], p < 0.01), respectively. Conclusion: Concurrent exercise and longer duration may be more efficient way to decrease FGF21 concentrations in adults with metabolic disorder.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the status quo and the needs of medical imaging technicians (MITs) in the radiology department of secondary and tertiary hospitals in China, so as to provide references and support for the development of the medical imaging technology industry and the relevant policymaking by health administrative departments. Methods: The questionnaire was developed by the Chinese Society of Imaging Technology. The radiology department of each hospital involved in the survey recommended one MIT to fill out the online questionnaire. The contents included: (a) the basic information of the hospital; (b) a general overview of the MITs in the hospital; (c) daily work; (d) career development and promotion; (e) research status and needs, etc. Differences in the number of MIT staff were compared using the Mann-Whitney U test and the chi-square test was used to compare the differences in the selected numbers of MITs in need between regions or between different levels of hospitals. Results: In this investigation, valid questionnaires were finally obtained from a total of 5403 hospitals in 31 provinces in China. The total number of MITs of the hospitals covered in the sample was 67481. The number of MITs in each hospital was 9 (5, 16). The male-to-female ratio was 1.41:1. MITs who were 20 to 40 years old accounted for 78%. The proportions of MITs who had completed doctorate, master's, undergraduate, junior college, and technical secondary school or lower level education were 0.6%, 3.3%, 60.7%, 30.8%, and 4.55%, respectively. The proportions of chief MITs, deputy chief MITs, supervisor MITs, primary MITs, assistant technician and those below were 1.0%, 4.21%, 22.1%, 51.8%, and 20.9%, respectively. The overall professional satisfaction of MITs was good. "Lack of opportunities for learning and communication" was quoted as the main problem MITs encountered in regard to improving their job-related competency. 59.2% of the respondents had not published any academic papers in the past five years, and only 7.0% of the respondents had published in journals included in the Science Citation Index (SCI) in the past five years. Conclusion: MITs in China are on average relatively young and the number of MITs has greatly increased. At this stage, more attention should be given to the cultivation of talents and continuing education of MITs and the construction of the discipline should be further strengthened, so as to provide strong support for the development of the medical imaging technology industry in China.

ABSTRACT

Context: One in four Canadians experiences chronic pain, yet insufficient services and restrictions surrounding prevailing treatments result in inadequate management and significant negative consequences for these individuals. Previous work indicates that hypnotic communication represents a promising complementary treatment; however, training protocols for healthcare professionals are underdeveloped and understudied. Aim: To evaluate the level of satisfaction for a training program on hypnotic communication in pain management clinics. Design: Qualitative study. Methods: Six health professionals who first completed the hypnotic communication training participated in 30 minutes virtual semi-structured interviews. These testimonials allowed them to elaborate on their user experience and potential areas for improvement. Thematic analysis using qualitative data management software NVIVO was conducted on the interview data. Results: Two themes emerged from the interviews. 1) Satisfaction: Participants expressed satisfaction on various structural aspects of the training, including the provided materials, atmosphere, training structure, presentation modalities, practical workshops, acquired knowledge, trainer quality, and training duration. 2) Areas for Improvement: Five main improvement suggestions were identified (providing more material; more practical workshops, more concrete and adapted; testimonials from former patients; follow-up training meeting; and continuing education). Implications for the Profession and/or Patient Care and Conclusion: The results improved the training program to help minimized inherent biases related to this technique, cut associated costs, and identify reasons that would explain its underutilization among medical professionals in Quebec. Our work highlights that healthcare professionals in chronic pain management clinics (eg, respiratory therapists, nurses) can incorporate this simple hypnotic communication technique into their usual care and contribute to the well-being of patients. Impact: This study aimed to address the lack of training protocols for healthcare professionals, that are underdeveloped and understudied. The main findings on participant' satisfaction and the areas of improvement for the training will help the refinement of the training to better suit healthcare professional's needs in hospitals and chronic pain facilities.
