ABSTRACT

In light of the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), the future of the nursing profession is expected to be closely intertwined with AI applications. In response to this challenge, nursing educators must cultivate AI literacy in students to ensure their ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with their interdisciplinary peers. Nursing educators should comprehend the essence of AI literacy, integrate AI literacy into their curriculum designs, and regularly assess the effectiveness of AI literacy cultivation efforts among their students to ensure nursing graduates are able to effectively fulfill their roles in nursing and healthcare. The purpose of this paper is to explain the essence of AI literacy, approaches for cultivating AI literacy in students, and methods for assessing AI literacy with the aim of educating nursing students to become competent nurses for tomorrow.

ABSTRACT

Background: The convenience of online learning helps physical education teachers overcome geographic barriers and promotes safe, accessible, high-quality education. This three-stage study developed an evaluation index system for online learning literacy of physical education (PE) teachers (OLLPET). Methods: Using two rounds of the Delphi method and one round of the Expert ranking method, consult with 15 PE experts from universities, primary and secondary schools, and teaching-research staff to draw up, revise, and finalize an evaluation index system for OLLPET. Results: Our OLLPET evaluation index system includes three first-level indicators, seven second-level indicators and 30 third-level indicators. The first-level indicators includes online learning values (OLV), online learning essential character (OLEC), and online learning key competencies (OLKC)-with equal weighting given to OLV (0.367) and OLKC (0.367) and slightly less given to OLEC (0.267). Conclusion: The OLLPET evaluation index system is a theoretical yet practical tool that governments, schools, and teachers can use to evaluate PE teachers' online learning literacy to improve their learning capacity in a targeted manner.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop a core literacy questionnaire for public physical education teachers in colleges and universities (TCLQ-PPE) to address the current lack of core literacy assessment tools for public physical education teachers in Chinese colleges and universities. The study measured the validity of the TCLQ-PPE questionnaire by collecting evidence of the validity of this questionnaire. Methods: An initial pool of items was obtained from existing research tools, literature, and expert opinion. An expert review panel evaluated its content. A subsequent validation process reduced the number of items in the item pool. A validated factor analysis of the TCLQ-PPE was performed using structural equation modeling. Results: The TCLQ-PPE consists of five dimensions (professional beliefs, professional knowledge and skills, sports skills, work and life adaptation and reflection, and work management), consisting of a total of 40 items. The factorial validity of the TCLQ-PPE was determined by the significant loadings of all items on their expected factors, showing good data model fit and good stability between two independent samples. The Cronbach's ɑ coefficient for each dimension was greater than 0.9. Conclusion: The TCLQ-PPE had sufficient evidence of validity. The development of the instrument showed evidence of validity for the content, response process, and internal structure.

ABSTRACT

Improving students' comprehensive quality and developing their core literacy are the training objectives of high school subject curriculums, which puts forward new requirements for teachers' professionalism and core literacy. In order to adapt to the high school curriculum reform and the new college entrance examination reform, the Ministry of Education approved the development of high-quality, integrated and master-level high school teachers training pilot program. The aim of this program was to foster a group of dual-disciplinary integrated high school teachers who are suitable for teaching, enjoying teaching and skillful in teaching. How to foster the dual-disciplinary core literacy of normal students through subject curriculum is one of the challenges faced by the pilot program. Following the training objectives of the pilot program "Chemistry and Biological Sciences", we proposed to integrate the dual-disciplinary literacy into four aspects: material concept, scientific thinking, inquiry practice, attitude and responsibility. This was proposed based on analyzing the core literacy of the disciplines of chemistry and biology, and aimed to promote teachers and normal students' understanding and practice of dual-discipline core literacy. With biochemistry course as an example, we further explored and practiced on how to foster the dual-disciplinary core literacy of normal students, aiming to provide reference for the reform of other courses included in the dual-disciplinary integrated programs.

ABSTRACT

The international genetically engineered machine (iGEM) competition is a global top college academic competition in synthetic biology. The iGEM competition has exhibited extensive international influence and attracted teams from more than 40 countries and regions around the world to participate in. The annual iGEM outputs have attracted the attention of top academic journals or international media such as Science, Nature, Scientific American, The Economist, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), etc. High school teams participated in iGEM since 2011, and the number of high school teams has increased year by year. High school participants are increasingly becoming one of the most important forces to promote the development of iGEM and synthetic biology. IGEM competition has also become an important platform to foster the core literacy of high school students. This paper summarized the track rules, topic selection tendency and awards of high school teams based on data of 2017 to 2021 iGEM competition. In addition, we analyzed the significance of iGEM competition on fostering of high school students' core literacy and discussed the development trend of global high school teams, with the aim to provide a reference for high school team building in the future.
