ABSTRACT

Resolutions issued by Sistema Conselhos are essential tools to guide and promote ethical and quality psychology practices. Given the complexity involved in elaborating such documents, this descriptive, qualitative research outlines the main changes in the text of the recently published CFP Resolution no. 006/2019 when compared with CFP Resolution no. 007/2003, both addressing the elaboration of psychological documents. Documentary data was investigated by content analysis. Results indicated few qualitative differences between the analyzed Resolutions, among them the prohibition of descriptive writing, the requirement for a theoretical framework to support professional reasoning, and the obligation to return documents. Concern with the principles that guide document elaboration stands out, responding to a political scenario of major setbacks regarding respect for human rights and minorities.(AU)

ABSTRACT

Decolonizing the construction of knowledge is an experience of confronting a way of 'doing science' that has become hegemonic in Brazilian universities, centered on Cartesian reason and based on colonial, rigid, and disciplined methods. I present a methodological experience of doing research guided by affections, inspired by the "escrevivência" of the writer, academic and activist Conceição Evaristo. In this article, I will try to expose the methodological flow that took place when I was writing my thesis believing that this was an affective-methodological path. This methodological flow proves to be relevant as it shows another form of knowledge construction, founded on counter-hegemonic bases, namely: the choice of a subjective analysis category (affections) and the development of a subjective analysis; the integration between the person who researches and the researched material; the interdisciplinarity as a way of expanding the look and, therefore, the research; the connection between affections and writing

ABSTRACT

This paper defends that fantastic literature constitutes a valuable research material for the psychoanalyst, given that this literary modality is committed to evoking in the reader the feeling of the uncanny (Unheimliche), understood as an episodic manifestation of an atavistic in latent state psychic content, causing the regression to primary narcissism and a temporary and localized dissolution of the borders of the Self. The expression architectures of the uncanny is proposed to designate the aesthetic-literary conjuncture that characterizes this project. To highlight the specificity of the textual resources that favor this arrangement, its syntax is contrasted with that of jokes. Through the reference to the concepts of anamorphosis, implicit reader, fantasy and construction, one seeks to clarify the psychic mechanisms related to the reading and creation of fantastic texts, underlining the volatile and mutating character of their themes and strategies and their intimate relationship with culture and society. One argues that the study of these literary devices can bring significant contributions to the understanding of the delimitation of Self and reality, and the vicissitudes of fantasy as well. At the end, the short story The Sandman, by E. T. A. Hoffmann, is commented in the light of the this proposal.

ABSTRACT

Goethe's studies of natural form have occupied generations of scholars and the discussion on the relationship between Goethe's thought and evolutionary theory has never ceased since Haeckel's claims in the late nineteenth century. In scholarship which has aimed to address the question of change in Goethe's concept of nature, the focus has been primarily on his scientific writings. Aiming for a comprehensive understanding of Goethe's thought on reproduction, this article sets out to contribute to the ongoing debate by focusing on his literary text The New Melusine, a story centred on a dwarf figure. Examining texts by naturalists such as Buffon, Humboldt, and Darwin, the article demonstrates how Goethe, in the speculative framework of a literary text, explores patterns of transformation by means of sexual reproduction which did not make it into his better known scientific writings on plant morphology and comparative anatomy. I argue that the Melusine story becomes for Goethe a space to consider a new understanding of reproduction, its transformative power, and biopolitical possibilities, while at the same time providing an opportunity to reflect critically on its consequences for the individual.

ABSTRACT

This article presents an interpretation of the subjectivity of non-human animals in George Orwell's The Animal Farm. The first section dissects the classical political and juridical interpretation of the Orwellian work and resumes it under the precepts of the critical theory of law and presents the process of emancipation of the subject of law as a component of juridical grammar. The second section presents a fractioned part of interspecies recognition through subjectivity to consider non-human animals as the center of the imputation of the legal system. The deductive method and the integrated research method are used for the present reasoning (AU)

ABSTRACT

The "postgenomic age," whose start date roughly corresponds to the turn of the millennium, is characterized not only by the rapid development of genomic technologies and commercial products but also by the widespread publication of literary works focused on genomics and its cultural implications. Defining "postgenomic literature" as literature that is both of and about the postgenomic age, this essay explores how works by nonfiction writer Rebecca Skloot and novelist Richard Powers exemplify a significant trend within the genre: the thematic exploration of ethical questions in the field of literature itself. While both authors address questions of medical and scientific ethics prompted by genomic research, with special emphasis on the exploitation of vulnerable populations, these questions lead readers directly to questions of narrative responsibility: who can tell whose story to whom-and for whose benefit? The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Generosity: An Enhancement, like other examples of postgenomic literature, invite readers to engage in critical reading practices that resist both textual and genetic determinism.

ABSTRACT

Science fiction (SF) is ubiquitous and it has also been utilised for the purposes of teaching since it has replaced legend, myth and fable. This is especially the case for Star Trek (ST) which has become an integral part of popular culture, even for those who do not follow SF. In this Best Practice Guideline (BPG) we will engage topics that ordinary readers of EHD might not normally come across, but may well find interesting. We will review the individual doctors in ST from the viewpoint of a medical doctor, and will demonstrate the ways in which the medic in the various series (which spans decades, since 1966) reflects the zeitgeist. A second BPG will provide an assortment of ST cautionary tales which range from nanotechnology, to The Holocaust, to artificial intelligence. SF is famously "extravagant fiction today, cold fact tomorrow" and takes us "where no man has gone before". The imaginings of SF authors (some of whom are scientists and doctors) should be taken seriously for potential detrimental effects/events that may befall the medical profession or the human race, and that might be avoided with the foresight provided by SF.
