Bum injuries in pregnant women: prevalence, structure, outcomes. Determining the optimal treatment strategy and the subsequent treatment of pregnant women with burns require the collaborative work of doctors of various specialties with relevant experience and high qualification. There are no so many researches on this issue, and most of them is written in the second half of the last century. In this regard, the authors compiled and analysed available on the considered issues of data presented in the foreign literature from 1958 to the present.

We analysed 54 foreign publications concerning sources of danger of thermal injuries inflicted in pieacetime. The negative effect of alcohol consumption is emphasised. Special attention is given to the necessity of safety measures when makingfire by people engaging in leisure activities and to the cases of chemical burns resulting from aggressive attacks of third persons. Certain authors report marked cicatrical deformities developing after skin restoration. A variety of sources of danger necessitates the development and introduction of effective of socio-legislative normatives designed to reduce the occurrence of thermal injuries.

Adequate treatment of the burned is not always possible by traditional local conservative methods. Combustologists face considerable difficulties when the patients have non-healing wounds against the background of concomitant diseases or there is a shortage of donor resources for critically burned patients. Results of using wound coverings "Suprasorb" are analyzed in patients with superficial and deep wounds. The clinical course of the wound process, pains during bandage and the dynamics of microbial dissemination of the wounds are assessed.

The article is devoted to the review of main directions of anti-shock therapy improvement for patients with severe burns. It is shown that the treatment efficiency can be considerably increased both by optimization of infusion volume and by the use of modern infusion drugs with anti-hypoxic and anti-oxidant effects. The use of anti-hypoxic and anti-oxidant drugs permits to change the burn shock course and to decrease its duration. Decrease in severity of tissue hypoxia, prevention of cellular membrane injury interrupt one of the circuits of burn disease pathogenesis and create the favorable conditions for realization of acute adaptation mechanisms in terms of traumatic disease conception. The modern schemes of anti-shock therapy approved at the department of thermal injuries were used in the treatment of casualties with combined burns after the armed conflict in the territory of Chechnia (1999-2001).
