BACKGROUND: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune inflammatory condition affecting multiple systems. Cardiovascular morbidity is a significant concern, with around 25% of SLE patients experiencing cardiac complications. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to determine the prevalence of cardiovascular morbidity in SLE patients in King Fahad Medical City (KFMC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. METHODOLOGY: This retrospective record-based research was conducted at KFMC from January 2015 to October 2023. A review of the medical files of all SLE patients was accomplished. RESULTS: The vast majority of the patients (90.9%) were females. The mean age for the patients was 36.5 years. The most common comorbidities were lupus nephritis (34.6%), hypothyroidism (18.4%), and anti-phospholipid syndrome (9.2%). The most commonly used medications were hydroxychloroquine (81.8%), corticosteroids (prednisolone) (43.0%), and mycophenolate mofetil (27.9%). Around 45.2% (n= 176) of the patients with SLE developed cardiovascular complications. The most commonly reported cardiovascular diseases that developed after diagnosing patients with SLE were hypertension (22.4%), valvular heart diseases (13.2%), and dyslipidemia (9.2%). The study also found that anti-dsDNA antibodies can reduce the likelihood of developing hypertension by 40%. This research contributes to the medical literature on SLE and sets the stage for future research on personalized healthcare strategies for managing SLE and its complications. CONCLUSION: This study highlights that a considerable proportion of SLE patients(~50%) develop cardiovascular complications, with hypertension, valvular heart diseases, and dyslipidemia being the most common. We also discovered that anti-double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid antibodies (Anti-dsDNA) reduce the likelihood of developing hypertension.

Memory loss or dementia is a progressive disorder, and one of its common forms is Alzheimer's disease (AD), effecting mostly middle aged and older adults. In the present study, we developed Rivastigmine (RIV) nanoparticles using poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (RIV-loaded PLGA NPs) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The prepared RIV-PLGA nanoparticles was evaluated for the management of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The nanoparticles were prepared by the slightly modified nano-precipitation technique. The developed formulations were evaluated for particle size, zeta potential (ZP), polydispersibility index (PDI) and surface morphology and drug content. The experimental result revealed that prepared RIV-loaded PLGA NPs (F1) was optimized having particle size (61.2 ± 4.6 nm), PDI (0.292), ZP (-11.2 ± 1.2). SEM study confirms the prepared nanoparticles depicted non-aggregated as well smooth surface particles without any fracture. This formulation (F1) was further assessed for in vivo studies on animal model. A pharmacological screening on an animal model of Alzheimer's disease revealed that RIV-loaded PLGA NPs formulations treat CNS disorders like Alzheimer's effectively. In addition to that, an in-vivo brain cholinesterase estimation study found that, animals treated with optimized formulation significantly (p < 0.01) reduced brain cholinesterase activity when compared to scopolamine-treated animals. According to the above results, it can be concluded that RIV-loaded PLGA NPs are ideal carriers for delivering the drug at a specific target site in the brain, thus may treat Alzheimer's disease efficiently and improve patient compliance.

Huntington's disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disease that causes progressive motor and cognitive dysfunction. There is no cure for HD, and current therapeutics can only manage the signs and symptoms as well as slowing disease progression. This investigation examines the possible therapeutic advantages of europinidin in 3-nitropropionic acid (3-NPA) injected HD in rats. Wistar rats were randomly assigned to five groups (n = 6): normal control, 3-NPA (10 mg/kg, i.p.), 3-NPA + europinidin-10 (10 mg/kg, p.o.), 3-NPA + europinidin-20 (20 mg/kg, p.o.), and europinidin alone (20 mg/kg, p.o.) for 15-day. Various behavioral and biochemical parameters including antioxidant levels, oxidative stress, pro-inflammatory markers, mitochondrial enzyme complex, and neurotransmitters were assessed. Europinidin restored biochemical, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, neurotransmitter, and pro-inflammatory parameters disrupted by 3-NPA. Here we show that europinidin attenuates 3-NPA-induced neurodegeneration in rat models of HD. Europinidin modulates oxidative stress, enhances antioxidants, restores mitochondrial enzyme complex activity, reduces neuroinflammation, and modulates neurotransmitter levels. Our findings reveal the potential of europinidin as a novel therapeutic agent for the treatment of HD. This study also provides new insights into the molecular mechanisms of europinidin-mediated neuroprotection and may have a beneficial role in the management of neurological diseases.

Background In the face of the ongoing global health crisis posed by COVID-19, it becomes imperative to understand the disease's dynamics, particularly in specific regions. This study provides a detailed examination of the factors influencing mechanical ventilation (MV) duration among COVID-19 patients in an intensive care setting, focusing on a diverse patient cohort from the Al Hassa region of Saudi Arabia. The primary aim of this study was to identify key demographic factors, clinical outcomes, and comorbidities that affect the duration of MV among ICU patients with COVID-19. This understanding is crucial for enhancing patient care and informing healthcare strategies in the context of the pandemic. Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted involving patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and admitted to the ICU in the Al Hassa region. The total number of participants was 1,259. Using a systematic sampling method, these participants were chosen to create a representative sample that reflects the prevailing treatment protocols in ICUs across these hospitals. Data encompassed patient demographics, comorbidities, clinical outcomes, and MV duration. Statistical analyses were employed to explore the associations between these variables. Results Our findings reveal a total of 1,259 participants significant associations between MV duration and various factors, including nationality, legal status, travel history, and comorbidities like heart failure and immunocompromised status. These insights are instrumental in understanding the nuances of COVID-19 management in critical care. Conclusion The study provides valuable insights into the determinants of MV duration in severe COVID-19 cases, emphasizing the need for individualized patient care approaches. It highlights the complexity of managing COVID-19 in ICU settings and underscores the importance of tailored healthcare responses to this global health challenge, particularly in the Al Hassa region.

Hepatitis is a worldwide health issue that causes inflammation of the liver and is frequently brought on by viral infections, specifically those caused by the hepatitis B and C viruses. Although the pathophysiological causes of hepatitis are complex, recent research indicates that noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) play a crucial role in regulating apoptosis, an essential process for maintaining liver homeostasis and advancing the illness. Noncoding RNAs have been linked to several biological processes, including apoptosis. These RNAs include microRNAs (miRNAs), long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), and circular RNAs (circRNAs). Distinct expression patterns characterising different stages of the disease have been discovered, indicating dysregulation of these non-coding RNAs in liver tissues infected with hepatitis. The complex interplay that exists between these noncoding RNAs and apoptotic effectors, including caspases and members of the Bcl-2 family, plays a role in the precarious equilibrium that regulates cell survival and death during hepatitis. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of ncRNA-mediated apoptosis in hepatitis, as well as insights into possible therapeutic targets and diagnostic indicators.

Carfilzomib (CFZ), a chemotherapeutic agent used for multiple myeloma treatments reported to cause high incidence of cardiac events either new onset and/or exacerbate formerly diagnosed heart failure with ventricular and myocardial dysfunction. Purpose: Current research designed to explore and examine the preventive effect of oxyphenbutazone in the CFZ -instigated cardiotoxicity. Methodology: Female Wistar Rats weighing 200-250 g selected randomly and grouped as follows: Group 1 designated as the Normal control and receive normal saline only. Group 2 served toxic control and exposed to CFZ (4 mg/kg, intraperitoneally [i.p.]). Group 3 & 4 served as treatment groups and administered with CFZ concomitantly orally fed with oxyphenbutazone at doses of 35 and 70 mg/kg/three times a week, respectively. The total duration of experimental protocol was of 21 days. After completion of the experiments animals subjected to blood collection using light ether anesthesia and serum was separated for biochemical analysis further. The serum levels of Mg+2, Ca+2 and cardiac enzymes (aspartate transaminase (AST), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase (CK) and creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) levels were estimated. Later animals sacrificed and heart tissue isolated for further examinations. Intracellular proteins NFkB and IkBα were estimated by western blot. Results: The serum analysis revealed that CFZ administration significantly elevated the levels of LDH, CK and CKMB in CFZ exposed animals when compared to normal animals while administration of oxyphenbutazone significantly reduced these biochemical changes, Intracellular antioxidant enzymes and NF-kB in treatment groups as compared to disease control animals. Conclusion: Findings of the research protocol suggests significant injuries to cardiac tissues when animals exposed to CFZ and Oxyphenbutazone protected the cardiac tissues.

In the spectrum of breast neoplasms, approximately 15 to 20% of all diagnosed cases are triple-negative breast carcinoma. TNBC grows and spreads faster than other invasive breast cancers and has a worse prognosis. The existing therapies and chemotherapeutic drugs have several limitations, so the development of safe and affordable treatment options is currently in demand. Hence, this research focuses on scientifically evaluating the therapeutic anticancer effect of ethyl acetate extract of MSG and its combined efficacy with doxorubicin against TNBC. MSG has shown an IC50 value of 48.40 ± 1.68 µg/ml on the MDA-MB-231 cell line, and the combination of MSG with Dox demonstrated the synergistic effect. Apoptotic changes such as membrane blebbing chromatin condensation were observed in MSG alone and in combination with doxorubicin treatments. Apoptosis was confirmed with Annexin V-FITC/PI staining and increased apoptotic markers such as Cleaved caspase-3 Bax and decreased anti-apoptotic markers Bcl-2 by western blotting. The tumor burden significantly decreased in MSG and combination treatment groups while restoring their body weights. Meanwhile, the Dox-treated group indicated a decreased tumor burden combined with weight loss. The present investigation revealed that MSG and doxorubicin have a synergistic anticancer effect in TNBC.

OBJECTIVES: To assess outcomes and complications of patients with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). METHODS: This multicenter retrospective study was conducted at 2 health care centers in Saudi Arabia and Oman. Adult patients diagnosed with CVT in radiological imaging between 2006 and 2020 were included. Data were collected from medical records and analyzed using the software IBM® SPSS version 22. Neurological disability occurring after CVT was graded according to the modified Rankin scale (mRS). RESULTS: The study included 103 patients, of which the majority (68%) were female. The mean age was 39.12±12.96 years. Two-thirds of patients received low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) in acute treatment, while 76% of discharged patients used warfarin. The majority of patients had no or mild neurological disability during follow-up, and 6 patients had an mRS score ≥3, implying significant neurological disability. There were 55 patients (52.3%) who had complications from CVT, including seizures in 17 (16.5%) patients and one mortality. Follow-up imaging of 55 patients showed complete thrombus resolution in 20 patients (36%). CONCLUSION: Anticoagulation is the mainstay treatment for CVT patients. Approximately half of patients experience complications. Prospective studies are needed to assess the long-term neurological outcomes in such patients.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) poses a substantial global challenge, necessitating a deeper understanding of the molecular underpinnings governing its onset and progression. The transforming growth factor beta (TGF-ß) network has been a well-recognized cornerstone in advancing CRC. Nevertheless, a recent study has highlighted the growing importance of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in this context. This comprehensive review aims to present an extensive examination of the interaction between ncRNAs and TGF-signaling. Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), encompassing circular RNAs (circRNAs), long-ncRNAs (lncRNAs), and microRNAs (miRNAs), have surfaced as pivotal modulators governing various aspects of TGF-ß signaling. MiRNAs have been discovered to target elements within the TGF-ß signaling, either enhancing or inhibiting signaling, depending on the context. LncRNAs have been associated with CRC progression, functioning as miRNA sponges or directly influencing TGF-ß pathway elements. Even circRNAs, a relatively recent addition to the ncRNA family, have impacted CRC, affecting TGF-ß signaling through diverse mechanisms. This review encompasses recent progress in comprehending specific ncRNAs involved in TGF-ß signaling, their functional roles, and their clinical relevance in CRC. We investigate the possibility of ncRNAs as targets for detection, prognosis, and therapy. Additionally, we explore the interaction of TGF-ß and other pathways in CRC and the role of ncRNAs within this intricate network. As we unveil the intricate regulatory function of ncRNAs in the TGF-ß signaling in CRC, we gain valuable insights into the disease's pathogenesis. Incorporating these discoveries into clinical settings holds promise for more precise diagnosis, prognosis, and targeted therapeutic approaches, ultimately enhancing the care of CRC patients. This comprehensive review underscores the ever-evolving landscape of ncRNA research in CRC and the potential for novel interventions in the battle against this formidable disease.

General anaesthetics (GA) have been in continuous clinical use for more than 170 years, with millions of young and elderly populations exposed to GA to relieve perioperative discomfort and carry out invasive examinations. Preclinical studies have shown that neonatal rodents with acute and chronic exposure to GA suffer from memory and learning deficits, likely due to an imbalance between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters, which has been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders. However, the mechanisms behind anaesthesia-induced alterations in late postnatal mice have yet to be established. In this narrative review, we present the current state of knowledge on early life anaesthesia exposure-mediated alterations of genetic expression, focusing on insights gathered on propofol, ketamine, and isoflurane, as well as the relationship between network effects and subsequent biochemical changes that lead to long-term neurocognitive abnormalities. Our review provides strong evidence and a clear picture of anaesthetic agents' pathological events and associated transcriptional changes, which will provide new insights for researchers to elucidate the core ideas and gain an in-depth understanding of molecular and genetic mechanisms. These findings are also helpful in generating more evidence for understanding the exacerbated neuropathology, impaired cognition, and LTP due to acute and chronic exposure to anaesthetics, which will be beneficial for the prevention and treatment of many diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. Given the many procedures in medical practice that require continuous or multiple exposures to anaesthetics, our review will provide great insight into the possible adverse impact of these substances on the human brain and cognition.

Human body cells are stem cell (SC) derivatives originating from bone marrow. Their special characteristics include their capacity to support the formation and self-repair of the cells. Cancer cells multiply uncontrollably and invade healthy tissues, making stem cell transplants a viable option for cancer patients undergoing high-dose chemotherapy (HDC). When chemotherapy is used at very high doses to eradicate all cancer cells from aggressive tumors, blood-forming cells and leukocytes are either completely or partially destroyed. Autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is necessary for patients in those circumstances. The patients who undergo autologous transplants receive their own stem cells (SCs). The transplanted stem cells first come into contact with the bone marrow and then undergo engraftment, before differentiating into blood cells. ASCT is one of the most significant and innovative strategies for treating diseases. Here we focus on the treatment of Hodgkin's lymphoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and AL amyloidosis, using ASCT. This review provides a comprehensive picture of the effectiveness and the safety of ASCT as a therapeutic approach for these diseases, based on the currently available evidence.

BACKGROUND:  Trichotillomania (TTM) is a psychiatric disorder characterized by repetitive pulling out of one's own hair, in which the scalp, brows, and eyelids are the most common sites. This study aimed to measure the prevalence of TTM among healthcare workers and students and to determine its association with psychiatric disorders. METHODOLOGY:  This cross-sectional study was conducted among healthcare workers and students in Saudi Arabia. Data were collected through an online self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of sociodemographic characteristics, the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Hairpulling Scale to measure TTM, and the Depression and Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) to measure the psychiatric disorders of the participants. A convenience sampling technique was implemented. The sample size was calculated to be 385. RESULTS:  Of the total 460 participants, 62% (n = 285) were students, 55% were females and 61.7% (n = 284) were aged between 18 and 24 years. The most commonly associated chronic disease was diabetes (n = 34, 7.4%), followed by asthma (n = 30, 6.5%). The prevalence of TTM was 4.8% (n = 22), which was higher among medical students (n = 15, 5.3%) as compared to medical workers (n = 7, 4%). While taking psychiatric medication (AOR = 0.197; 95% CI = 0.076-0.508 p = 0.001) was identified as the protective factor for TTM, previous diagnoses of psychiatric illness (AOR = 4.298; 95% CI = 1.759-10.499; p = 0.001), stress (AOR = 4.759; 95% CI = 1.541-14.695; p = 0.007), and depression (AOR = 3.149; 95% CI = 1.190-8.334; p = 0.021) were recognized as independent risk factors of TTM. CONCLUSION:  Trichotillomania was less common among health workers and students in Saudi Arabia. However, if trichotillomania is present, the disorder was found to be more common among those with associated psychiatric illnesses, including those who were anxious and depressed. Hence, further research is required to validate the impact of psychiatric conditions on the prevalence of TTM in the study region.

The effects of thermal radiation and thermophoretic particles deposition (TPD) on the hybrid nanofluid (HNF) flow across a circling sphere have momentous roles in research and engineering. Such as electrical devices, projectiles, thermal conveyance, sheet production, renewable energy, and nuclear-powered plants. Therefore, the current study presents the stagnation point flow of HNF flows about an orbiting sphere. The HNF is organized with the accumulation of aluminum alloys (AA70772 and AA7075) nanoparticles in the water. The HNF flow model equations are changed into the non-dimensional form of ODEs through the similarity variables and then numerically solved through the parametric simulation. It has been perceived that the significance of the rotation factor boosts the velocity curve, while the flow motion drops with the increasing numbers of AA7072 and AA7075 nanoparticles. Furthermore, the addition of AA7072 and AA70775 nano particulates in water lessens with the temperature profile. The energy distribution rate in case of hybrid nanoliquid enhances from 3.87 to 13.79%, whereas the mass dissemination rate enhances from 4.35 to 11.24% as the nanoparticles concentration varies from 0.01 to 0.03.

INTRODUCTION: Shoulder pain is one of the most frequently reported musculoskeletal conditions that approximately 6.9 to 26% of people experience. Numerous etiologies have been linked to causing shoulder pain, with the most frequent one being rotator cuff tendinopathy. Work-related musculoskeletal pain is prevalent in the medical field in general, but orthopaedic surgeons account for the majority of cases overall. The pain experienced is usually caused by many attributing factors that all relate to either the long hours and physically intensive procedures or the unnatural positions orthopaedic surgeons are put in during their surgeries. This study seeks to shed light on the prevalence, contributing factors, and effect of the complications of shoulder pain among orthopaedic surgeons, a topic unexpectedly understudied, particularly in Saudi Arabia. METHODS: A survey has been developed to ask orthopaedic surgeons at various levels of their careers. The study was conducted in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. It was a multi-centered study that included both governmental and private hospitals in Riyadh. The collected data included age, gender, BMI, sub-specialty, position, number of surgeries performed per week, and the average time per surgery. In our survey, we used the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) to assess shoulder pain. Ethical approval was obtained for this study by the Institutional Review Board of King Abdullah International Medical Research Center, Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (IRB/1484/23). RESULTS: Fifty orthopaedic surgeons participated in this study most of whom were male (88%) and fell within the age range of 31-40 years (36%). Regarding their positions, a significant proportion were consultants (54%). In terms of workload, approximately (38%) of the surgeons performed three to four surgeries per week. As for the duration of surgeries, almost half of the participants spent between three and five hours per surgery (48%). When it comes to experiencing pain or difficulties during shoulder activities, a considerable number reported occasional occurrences (36%). Moreover, a substantial majority did not have a history of specific shoulder-related disorders, as (88%) of the participants had none of the mentioned conditions, such as shoulder trauma or disorders like adhesive capsulitis and impingement. Most participants reported difficulties in performing daily activities due to their work-related shoulder pain. Mild pain was the most common reported severity level in all assessed activities. CONCLUSION: The present study showed that orthopaedic surgeons in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, occasionally experience shoulder pain from their jobs. Most of our sample stated that mild shoulder discomfort made it difficult to conduct daily tasks. This study is limited by a relatively low response rate, which may be attributed to the demanding nature of orthopaedic surgery. To promote health among caregivers throughout the kingdom, more studies should be conducted about shoulder pain.

Background: Patient satisfaction is crucial for assessing healthcare quality and identifying strengths and weaknesses in healthcare organizations. In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Health (MOH) implemented the Patient Experience Measurement Program to enhance patient experience and healthcare quality. This study aimed to identify specific aspects of patient satisfaction with dental visits in Saudi Arabia to improve dental care quality and inform dental services development. Methods: The study used a standardized self-administered questionnaire (Health Links/Press Ganey) and analyzed surveys from patients who visited MOH-specialized dental clinics in Saudi Arabia during the first half of 2022. The dental section comprised 20 questions across five domains, with patients rating their experience on a 5-point Likert scale. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25. Results: A total of 964 patients were surveyed. The overall patient satisfaction with dental settings was 3.61 out of 5.0 (72.2%). The highest satisfaction score was for personal issues with the dental clinic domain (3.93/5; 78.6%), while the least satisfaction score was for access to the dental clinic domain (3.29/5; 65.8%). Among all items, the cleanliness of the facility showed the highest satisfaction score (4.11/5; 82.2%). The least satisfaction was for the ease of contacting the dental clinic (2.71/5; 54.2%). Conclusion: The study found high levels of satisfaction among Saudi patients with dental services provided through MOH facilities across various component domains. This highlights the crucial role of dentists in ensuring high-quality dental care and serves as an indication of the overall healthcare quality in MOH facilities.

Polycystic ovary syndrome is a complex disorder defined by the Rotterdam criteria. Insulin resistance is a common factor for the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus among women with PCOS. The SLC2A2 gene has been identified as a T2DM gene by genome-wide association studies in the rs8192675 SNP. This study aimed to investigate the rs8192675 SNP in women diagnosed with PCOS on a molecular level and further for T2DM development in the Saudi women. In this case-control study, 100 PCOS women and 100 healthy controls were selected. Among 100 PCOS women, 28 women showed T2DM development. Genotyping for rs8192675 SNP was performed by PCR-RFLP analysis. Additionally, Sanger sequencing was performed to validate the RFLP analysis. The obtained data were used for a statistical analysis for the genotype and allele frequencies, logistic regression, and ANOVA analysis. The clinical data confirmed the positive association between FBG, FI, FSH, TT, TC, HDLc, LDLc, and family histories (p < 0.05). HWE analysis was associated in both the PCOS cases and the control individuals. Genotype and allele frequencies were associated in PCOS women and strongly associated with women with PCOS who developed T2DM (p < 0.05). No association was found in the logistic regression model or ANOVA analysis studied in women with PCOS (p > 0.05). A strong association was observed between the rs8192675 SNP and women with PCOS who developed T2DM using ANOVA analysis (p < 0.05). This study confirms that the rs8192675 SNP is associated with women with PCOS and strongly associated with women with PCOS with developed T2DM in Saudi Arabia.

Novel treatment targets must be discovered to improve the results for patients with prostate cancer, which continues to be a significant worldwide health problem. Growth Arrest-Specific 5 (GAS5) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that has emerged as a promising target. GAS5 is a non-coding RNA that is a tumour suppressor in many different cancers by reducing cell proliferation and increasing apoptosis. GAS5 influences cell cycle control and apoptosis via interactions with important signalling pathways and microRNAs, as has been shown by recent studies. Furthermore, GAS5 has attracted interest for its diagnostic and prognostic potential in prostate cancer. GAS5 expression is a promising biomarker for disease classification and individualized treatment approaches because of its association with clinicopathological characteristics such as tumour stage, Gleason score, and metastatic potential. Preclinical models have revealed encouraging anticancer benefits from experimental techniques employing GAS5 overexpression or synthetic analogues, indicating the possibility of translational treatments. Whether GAS5 can be used as a diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target might lead to more effective and individualized ways to fight prostate cancer, improving patient outcomes and quality of life. To utilize its potential for therapy and establish it as a useful addition to the clinical arsenal against this pervasive malignancy, more investigation into the complex molecular pathways of GAS5 in prostate cancer is essential. This review highlights the recent advancements and insights into the role of GAS5 in prostate cancer pathogenesis and progression.

Background: We investigated the anti-cancer effect of carnosine-loaded niosomes (Car-NIO) and melittin-loaded niosomes (Mel-NIO) with olaparib in breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231). Methods: The thin film method was used for preparing the niosomes and characterized in terms of morphology, size, and polydispersity index (PDI). We further evaluated the impact of these peptides on breast cancer cells viability, RT-qPCR assays, malondialdehyde (MDA) activity, and cell cycle progression, to determine if these are linked to carnosine and melittin's anti-proliferative properties. Results: Car-NIO and Mel-NIO in vitro study inhibited cancer cell viability. They have also upregulated the expression of protein 53 (P53), BCL2-Associated X Protein (Bax), caspase-9, caspase-3, programmed cell death 4 (PDCD4), and Forkhead box O3 (FOXO3), while downregulated the expression of B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl2), poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP 1), and MicroRNA-183 (miRNA-183). The MCF-7 cells were arrested at the G2/M phase in Car-NIO, on the other hand, the MDA-MB-231 cells were arrested at the S phase. While the Mel-NIO and olaparib arrested the MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells at the G0/1 phase. Conclusion: Our study successfully declared that Mel-NIO had more anti-cancer effects than Car-NIO in both MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells.

The objective of this systematic review was to determine the prevalence of hallux valgus (HV) in the general population by conducting a review and meta-analysis of existing studies. Published articles on the incidence of HV were systematically searched and evaluated on reputable medical databases such as PubMed. The keywords "the prevalence of hallux valgus and/or bunions"were used to create the search syntax on the various databases. Data were gathered on prevalence, population under study, and methodology. A total of 11 articles that met the search criteria were identified and included in this review for a total of 10,886 participants across the studies. The pooled prevalence of HV across the studies was3.75 (95% confidence interval = 0.388-0.517). Therefore, the prevalence varied widely across the studies reviewed. Prevalence was observed to be high among females and increased with risk factors such as body mass index, which were identified as significant across the studies. This review was limited by insufficient data and the lack of a standard HV diagnosis method. Therefore, a standard HV diagnosis tool is recommended.
