The present research has as a main objective to develop a bibliometric analysis of undergraduate stu-dents' theses from the of the Pedagogy degree program in Physical Education from the Los Lagos University, Puerto Montt, Chile. The sample is composed by research theses, defended during the years 2009 to 2015. The search and extraction of information was carried out in June and July of 2016. The results indicate that 77 theses have been written from 2009 to 2015. The disciplines studied most correspond to Psychology with 27.27%, followed by Sports Training with 14.29% of theses, and most studied topics were Values in Physical Education and sports 11.69%, Condition and Physical Abilities 9.09% and Training of Professionals in Physical Activity and Sports 7.79%. It is concluded that in the thesis prevails the discipline related to Psychology over the disciplinary area of the career, however, issues were observed relating to values in Physical Education, which gives more relevance to the contribution of this discipline then to the integral development of people.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To implement and study the effect of improving pediatric oral health by training primary care practices and training programs. METHOD: In six New England States, primary care practices and clinical training programs (medical schools, residencies, physician assistant programs) were recruited and trained to incorporate pediatric oral health into medical practice. We measured the results of varying practice recruitment approaches and measured training outcomes based on self-reported implementation and state reported EPSDT CMS oral health claims. RESULTS: We trained 415 practices across six states with a 74 percent average retention rate of providing services at 6 months. This resulted in 136,963 preventive oral health services (fluoride varnish, oral health assessment, or screening). Thirty-five of 52 health education programs established pediatric oral health curricula. The average cost of recruitment, training, and follow-up for an office or an educational program is approximately $1,000/site. CONCLUSION: We have created an enduring infrastructure and model for primary care practices and education programs for training in pediatric oral health.

RESUMEN

Platelet degranulation allows the release of a large amount of soluble mediators, is an essential step for wound healing initiation, and stimulates clotting, and angiogenesis. The latter process is one of the most critical biological events observed during tissue repair, increasing the growth of blood vessels in the maturing wound. Angiogenesis requires the action of a variety of growth factors that act in an appropriate physiological ratio to assure functional blood vessel restoration. Platelets release main regulators of angiogenesis: Vascular Endothelial Growth Factors (VEGFs), basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF-2), and Platelet derived growth factors (PDGFs), among others. In order to stimulate tissue repair, platelet derived fractions have been used as an autologous source of growth factors and biomolecules, namely Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Platelet Poor Plasma (PPP), and Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF). The continuous release of these growth factors has been proposed to promote angiogenesis both in vitro and in vivo. Considering the existence of clinical trials currently evaluating the efficacy of autologous PRP, the present review analyses fundamental questions regarding the putative role of platelet derived fractions as regulators of angiogenesis and evaluates the possible clinical implications of these formulations.

RESUMEN

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: With conflicting results in the literature and various manufacturer recommendations, it is not known what cementation protocols are currently being used for implant restorations in US dental schools. PURPOSE: The purpose of this survey was to determine what dental cementation protocols are taught and recommended by 62 US dental schools and postgraduate programs. MATERIAL AND METHODS: From February to September 2008, 96 questionnaires consisting of 8 questions were sent to the chairperson or director of restorative departments, advanced prosthodontics programs, and implant programs. The questionnaire asked recipients which implant manufacturers provided the products used at their dental schools. Additionally, recipients were queried as to the choice of material and techniques for abutment and restoration preparations prior to definitive cementation. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics. RESULTS: A total of 68 (71%) surveys were returned, and 52 (84%) of the 62 predoctoral and postgraduate programs were represented. After deleting duplicate responses, 31 surveys were returned from restorative department chairpersons, 29 from advanced prosthodontic program directors, and 2 from implant program directors. Frequency of responses to each question was tabulated, and results are presented in 3 sections. For all 3 types of programs, Nobel Biocare was reported to be the most widely used implant system, followed by Biomet 3i, Straumann, Astra Tech, and Zimmer Dental systems. The most commonly used technique prior to definitive cementation is to airborne-particle abrade the intaglio surface of the restoration. Resin-modified glass ionomer is the most frequently used luting agent for cementing implant restorations. The 5 most commonly used materials to fill screw access openings are cotton pellets, composite resin, rubber-based material, gutta-percha, and light-polymerized provisional composite resin. Most predoctoral and postgraduate programs teach students to fill the screw access opening completely to the occlusal surface. CONCLUSIONS: There are a wide range of implant cementation protocols and materials used; however, some common trends were identified among predoctoral and postgraduate programs.
