RESUMEN

AIM: Determine the level of antibodies against socially significant types/serotypes of influenza virus in sera of individuals residing in various regions of Russia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 1525 samples of blood sera collected in August-December 2013 in 8 regions of Russian Federation were studied in hemagglutination inhibition reaction (HAI) with antigens obtained from A/California/07/09, (H1N1)pdm09, A/Victoria/361/2011(H3N2), B/Brisbane/60/2008 (Victoria line), B/Massachusetts/2/2012 (Yamagata line), A/Commongull/Chany/2006 (H5N1), A/Anhui/01/2013 (H7N9) influenza virus strains. RESULTS: None of the blood sera samples had significant HAI titers against A/H5 and A/H7 antigens. Of all the 1525 samples, 788 (52%) were positive with A(H1N1)pdm09 antigen; 734 (48%) reacted with A(H3N2) antigen; 1010 (66%) samples were positive with B/Victoria antigen and 602 (39%) samples were positive with B/Yamagata antigen. CONCLUSION: Healthcare institutions should pay attention to the correction of population immunity profile in regions for the reduction of social-economic losses from seasonal influenza epidemics.

RESUMEN

Infusion of 1.5% reamberin solution was shown to be a safe tool for combined therapy of severe viral hepatitis in drug addicts with signs of polyorganic lesions. Reamberin had detoxicating, antioxidative, hepato- and nephroprotective effects associated with clinical improvement, reduced hospital stay and normalized biochemical characteristics. Moreover, it increased the serum antioxidative potential and non-specific resistance of the patients.

RESUMEN

Guinea pigs infested with Trichinella (5-10 larvae per 1 g body weight) at the intestinal (at days 2-4 of infection), migration al (at days 6-11), and muscular (at days 22-27) stages of invasion, were given voltaren, 2.14 mg/kg daily, and mebendazole, 75 mg/kg daily. The amount of adult Trichinella in small intestine and larvae in the diaphragm, T- and B-lymphocyte count (T-REC and B-RFC), functional leukocyte activity in RTML for FGA and Trichinella larvae antigens, content of circulating immune complexes and complement were determined. Voltaren did not cause delay in adult Trichinella elimination from the intestine of experimental animals, it also did not increase invasion rate at the muscular stage. As compared to the control, T- and B-lymphocyte content and RTML for FGA remained unaltered. Experimental animals show elevated blood complement activity and RTML inhibition of trichinella antigens. The combination of mebendasole and voltaren did not reduce parasitogenic effect. Despite the terms of drug injection, T- and B-lymphocytes count and complement levels in blood were found to increase, as well as the RTML index on FGA and its inhibition of specific antigens as compared with the infected untreated animals.

RESUMEN

As many as 43 patients with first diagnosed paranoid schizophrenia running a shift-like course were examined for the blood counts of T and B lymphocytes with regard to the treatment conducted and disease standing. The patients received 3 types of the treatment: insulin, neuroleptics and combined treatment (insulin plus neuroleptics). During the treatment and after it, the content of B lymphocytes remained practically unchanged (p greater than 0.05) in all the patients. The content of T lymphocytes was reduced throughout the whole period of affliction with schizophrenia. However, during the combined treatment of the disease, a tendency towards increase of T cells was revealed, which coincided with the best clinical indicators.

RESUMEN

Fifty-five patients with viral hepatitis B complicated by liver precoma and coma received therapy with glucocorticosteroid hormones (GCS) only and in combination with antilymphocyte immunoglobulin (ALG). GCS and ALG therapy proved to be more effective and clinical convalescence of the patients was 79% against 69% with the application of GCS therapy alone. Immunological shifts in patients with hepatitis B complicated by liver precoma and coma were expressed at most and characterized by a significant decrease in the content of T-lymphocytes, T-helpers and T-suppressors. Correlation between a decrease in the HBsAg concentration or its disappearance in the blood serum and a decrease in the elevated level of the circulating immune complexes was revealed.

RESUMEN

The presence of HBs--Ag in the blood was established in 1.8% of practically healthy persons, in 29.7% of virus hepatitis patients and in 86.0% of serum hepatitis patients. The immunological study of clinically healthy HBs--Ag carriers revealed a statistically significant decrease in the number of T and B lymphocytes and an increased level of serum IgA, IgM and IgG in the blood. Among donors, 7.6% were found to have lymphocytes sensitized to HBs--Ag and 15.4% were found to have lymphocytes sensitized to liver antigen, while for HBs--Ag carriers these data were 62.5% and 50%, respectively.

RESUMEN

Morphological characteristics of the liver and the presence of HBsAg in the blood serum, liver tissue, and pericholedocheal lymph nodes were examined in 25 patients with chronic liver diseases and 2 asymptomatic carriers of HBsAg. The antigen in tissues was demonstrated by indirect immunofluorescence and histochemically by staining with alcohol-arsein and aldehyde-fuxin. The antigen was found in the blood, liver tissue, and hepatocyte cytoplasm in both carriers and 10 patients. In 5 patients with liver cirrhosis and HBsAg antigenemia the antigen was also found in the liver tissue, in 1 patient it was absent in the blood but found in the liver, and in 2 patients it was absent in the blood and in the liver. In 5 patients with chronic hepatitis the antigen was demonstrated in the blood serum and the liver, in 12 patients it was not detected either in the blood or in the liver. In 8 patients enlarged pericholedocheal lymph nodes were examined, and in 6 of them HBsAg was detected in macrophages of the lymph nodes.

RESUMEN

Quantitative content of T- and B-lymphocytes in the peripheral blood was studied after Mendes in 30 patients suffering from chronic opisthorcosis and in 30 practically healthy persons; immunoglobulins--M, G, and A were examined after Mancini, and the presence of autoantibodies in the blood serum was studied by indirect method of mast cells degranulation. There was revealed a reduction of the T-cell count to 28.8 +/- 2.28% (normal value--52.9 +/- 3.32%) and a fall of IgM level to 163.4 +/- 16.2 (207.2 +/- 10.5 in donors) in the patients; macrophages count was almost doubled. Autoantibodies to the antigens of the liver, gastric mucosa and the gall bladder wall were revealed in 1/3 of the patients.
