RESUMEN

In various practical situations, the information about the process distribution is sometimes partially or completely unavailable. In these instances, practitioners prefer to use nonparametric charts as they don't restrict the assumption of normality or specific distribution. In this current article, a nonparametric double homogeneously weighted moving average control chart based on the Wilcoxon signed-rank statistic is developed for monitoring the location parameter of the process. The run-length profiles of the newly developed chart are obtained by using Monte Carlo simulations. Comparisons are made based on various performance metrics of run-length distribution among proposed and existing nonparametric counterparts charts. The extra quadratic loss is used to evaluate the overall performance of the proposed and existing charts. The newly developed scheme showed comparatively better results than its existing counterparts. For practical implementation of the suggested scheme, the real-world dataset related to the inside diameter of the automobile piston rings is also used.

Control charts are a statistical approach for monitoring cancer data that can assist discover patterns, trends, and unusual deviations in cancer-related data across time. To detect deviations from predicted patterns, control charts are extensively used in quality control and process management. Control charts may be used to track numerous parameters in cancer data, such as incidence rates, death rates, survival time, recovery time, and other related indicators. In this study, CDEC chart is proposed to monitor the cancer patients recovery time censored data. This paper presents a composite dual exponentially weighted moving average Cumulative sum (CDEC) control chart for monitoring cancer patients recovery time censored data. This approach seeks to detect changes in the mean recovery time of cancer patients which usually follows Weibull lifetimes. The results are calculated using type I censored data under known and estimated parameter conditions. We combine the conditional expected value (CEV) and conditional median (CM) approaches, which are extensively used in statistical analysis to determine the central tendency of a dataset, to create an efficient control chart. The suggested chart's performance is assessed using the average run length (ARL), which evaluates how efficiently the chart can detect a change in the process mean. The CDEC chart is compared to existing control charts. A simulation study and a real-world data set related to cancer patients recovery time censored data is used for results illustration. The proposed CDEC control chart is developed for the data monitoring when complete information about the patients are not available. So, instead of doping the patients information we can used the proposed chart to monitor the patients information even if it is censored. The authors conclude that the suggested CDEC chart is more efficient than competitor control charts for monitoring cancer patients recovery time censored data. Overall, this study introduces an efficient new approach for cancer patients recovery time censored data, which might have significant effect on quality control and process improvement across a wide range of healthcare and medical studies.

RESUMEN

This research commences a unit statistical model named power new power function distribution, exhibiting a thorough analysis of its complementary properties. We investigate the advantages of the new model, and some fundamental distributional properties are derived. The study aims to improve insight and application by presenting quantitative and qualitative perceptions. To estimate the three unknown parameters of the model, we carefully examine various methods: the maximum likelihood, least squares, weighted least squares, Anderson-Darling, and Cramér-von Mises. Through a Monte Carlo simulation experiment, we quantitatively evaluate the effectiveness of these estimation methods, extending a robust evaluation framework. A unique part of this research lies in developing a novel regressive analysis based on the proposed distribution. The application of this analysis reveals new viewpoints and improves the benefit of the model in practical situations. As the emphasis of the study is primarily on practical applications, the viability of the proposed model is assessed through the analysis of real datasets sourced from diverse fields.

OBJECTIVE: Prestin is an outer hair cell (OHC) protein responsible for increasing cochlear sensitivity and has been proposed as a biomarker. We aimed to evaluate whether the serum prestin level is related to the severity of chronic sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). METHODS: Ninety subjects were recruited from the patient base at Samarra public hospitals and clinics in Iraq from January to October of 2022. They were divided into three groups equally: a group of healthy people without hearing loss (G0), a group with moderate SNHL (G1), and a group with severe SNHL (G2). The subjects ranged from 20 to 80 years of age and included 51 males and 39 females. Blood samples were collected, then serum was separated, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays were performed to quantify the levels of prestin. RESULTS: Hearing thresholds were sequentially statistically higher across the three groups. While prestin levels were significantly higher in G1 and G2 than that in G0, there were no differences between the G1 and G2 levels. Serum prestin levels were positively correlated with hearing thresholds in G1, but not G2. CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that in the clinical setting, prestin is sensitive to chronic mild to moderate SNHL (i.e., up to 40-60 dB), not more severe loss. This range is consistent with the added sensitivity provided by OHCs in the cochlea and provides support for prestin as a biomarker of OHC-mediated SNHL.

This manuscript develops few efficient difference and ratio kinds of imputations to handle the situation of missing observations given that these observations are polluted by the measurement errors (ME). The mean square errors of the developed imputations are studied to the primary degree approximation by adopting Taylor series expansion. The proposed imputations are equated with the latest existing imputations presented in the literature. The execution of the proposed imputations is assessed by utilizing a broad empirical study utilizing some real and hypothetically created populations. Appropriate remarks are made for sampling respondents regarding practical applications.

In real life, situations may arise when the available data are insufficient to provide accurate estimates for the domain, the small area estimation (SAE) technique has been used to get accurate estimates for the variable under study. The problem of missing data is a serious problem that has an impact on sample surveys, but small area estimates are especially prone to it. This paper is a basic effort that suggests design based synthetic imputation methods for the domain mean estimation using simple random sampling in order to address the issue of missing data under SAE. The expression of the mean square error for the proposed imputation methods are obtained up to first order approximation. The efficiency conditions are determined and a thorough simulation study is carried out using artificially generated data sets. An application is included with real data that further supports this study.

In the present study, we develop and investigate the odd Frechet Half-Logistic (OFHL) distribution that was developed by incorporating the half-logistic and odd Frechet-G family. The OFHL model has very adaptable probability functions: decreasing, increasing, bathtub and inverted U shapes are shown for the hazard rate functions, illustrating the model's capacity for flexibility. A comprehensive account of the mathematical and statistical properties of the proposed model is presented. In estimation viewpoint, six distinct estimation methodologies are used to estimate the unknown parameters of the OFHL model. Furthermore, an extensive Monte Carlo simulation analysis is used to evaluate the effectiveness of these estimators. Finally, two applications to real data are used to demonstrate the versatility of the suggested method, and the comparison is made with the half-logistic and some of its well-known extensions. The actual implementation shows that the suggested model performs better than competing models.

Zero-inflated Poisson (ZIP) model is widely used for counting data with excessive zeroes. The multicollinearity is the common factor in the explanatory variables of the count data. In this context, typically, maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) generates unsatisfactory results due to inflation of mean square error (MSE). In the solution of this problem usually, ridge parameters are used. In this study, we proposed a new modified zero-inflated Poisson ridge regression model to reduce the problem of multicollinearity. We experimented within the context of a specified simulation strategy and recorded the behavior of proposed estimators. We also apply our proposed estimator to the real-life data set and explore how our proposed estimators perform well in the presence of multicollinearity with the help of ZIP model for count data.

AIMS: Gene therapies to induce cardiomyocyte (CM) cell cycle re-entry have shown a potential to treat subacute ischaemic heart failure (IHF) but have not been tested in the more relevant setting of chronic IHF. Our group recently showed that polycistronic non-integrating lentivirus encoding Cdk1/CyclinB1 and Cdk4/CyclinD1 (TNNT2-4Fpolycistronic-NIL) is effective in inducing CM cell cycle re-entry and ameliorating subacute IHF models and preventing the subsequent IHF-induced congestions in the liver, kidneys, and lungs in rats and pigs. Here, we aim to test the long-term efficacy of TNNT2-4Fpolycistronic-NIL in a rat model of chronic IHF, a setting that differs pathophysiologically from subacute IHF and has greater clinical relevance. METHODS AND RESULTS: Rats were subjected to a 2-h coronary occlusion followed by reperfusion; 4 weeks later, rats were injected intramyocardially with either TNNT2-4Fpolycistronic-NIL or LacZ-NIL. Four months post-viral injection, TNNT2-4Fpolycistronic-NIL-treated rats showed a significant reduction in scar size and a significant improvement in left ventricular (LV) systolic cardiac function but not in the LV dilatation associated with chronic IHF. A mitosis reporter system developed in our lab showed significant induction of CM mitotic activity in TNNT2-4Fpolycistronic-NIL-treated rats. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates, for the first time, that TNNT2-4Fpolycistronic-NIL gene therapy induces CM cell cycle re-entry in chronic IHF and improves LV function, and that this salubrious effect is sustained for at least 4 months. Given the high prevalence of chronic IHF, these results have significant clinical implications for developing a novel treatment for this deadly disease.

Cardiomyocytes (CMs) lost during ischemic cardiac injury cannot be replaced due to their limited proliferative capacity, which leads to progressive heart failure. Calcium (Ca2+) is an important signal transducer that regulates key cellular processes, but its role in regulating CM proliferation is incompletely understood. A drug screen targeting proteins involved in CM calcium cycling in human embryonic stem cell-derived cardiac organoids (hCOs) revealed that only the inhibition of L-Type Calcium Channel (LTCC), but not other Ca2+ regulatory proteins (SERCA or RYR), induced the CM cell cycle. Furthermore, overexpression of Ras-related associated with Diabetes (RRAD), an endogenous inhibitor of LTCC, induced CM cell cycle activity in vitro, in human cardiac slices, and in vivo. Mechanistically, LTCC inhibition by RRAD induces the cell cycle in CMs by modulating calcineurin activity and translocating Hoxb13 to the CM nucleus. Together, this represents a robust pathway for regenerative strategies.

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to investigate and determine the prevalence, location, and morphological differences of the maxillary sinus septa using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images in the Madina region and to discuss its clinical implications during sinus surgery. METHODS: This study was a retrospective cross-sectional radiographic analysis of 808 CBCT scans from patients who attended Taibah University's College of Dentistry between December 2018 and June 2023. Age, gender, number of septa present per side, location (anterior, middle, posterior), morphology (complete or partial), and type (primary or secondary) were among the study variables. For data statistics, correlation analysis was utilized.  Results: Eight hundred eight CBCT scans were included with a mean age of 34.7±15.08. Septal bone was absent in 60.64% of the sinuses examined. Single septa were more common than multiple septa (p=0.009). Bilateral septal presence and the left septal bone were more common than the right, but none of these distributions were statistically significant. Males showed more sinus septa compared to females, but the difference was not statistically significant (p=0.420). Single septa were more prevalent in people under the age of 25. CONCLUSION: More than 60% of the Madina population had patent sinus cavities with no septal processes, but males with single septal processes predominated.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Myocardial infarction (MI) is the leading cause of mortality globally due in part to the limited ability of cardiomyocytes (CMs) to regenerate. Recently, we demonstrated that overexpression of four-cell cycle factors, CDK1, CDK4, cyclin B1 and cyclin D1 (4F), induced cell division in ~20% of the post-mitotic CMs overexpressed 4F. The current study aims to identify a small molecule that augments 4F-induced CM cycle induction. EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH, KEY RESULTS: Screening of small molecules with a potential to augment 4F-induced cell-cycle induction in 60-day-old mature human induced pluripotent cardiomyocytes (hiPS-CMs) revealed N-(4,6-Dimethylpyridin-2-yl)-4-(pyridine-4-yl)piperazine-1-carbothioamide (NDPPC), which activates cell cycle progression in 4F-transduced hiPS-CMs. Autodock tool and Autodock vina computational methods showed that NDPPC has a potential interaction with the binding site at the human p38⍺ mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38⍺ MAP kinase), a critical negative regulator of the mammalian cell cycle. A p38 MAP kinase activity assay showed that NDPPC inhibits p38⍺ with 5-10 times lower IC50 compared to the other P38 isoforms in a dose-dependent manner. Overexpression of p38⍺ MAP kinase in CMs inhibited 4F cell cycle induction, and treatment with NDPPC reversed the cell cycle inhibitory effect. CONCLUSION AND IMPLICATIONS: NDPPC is a novel inhibitor for p38 MAP kinase and is a promising drug to augment CM cell cycle response to the 4F. NDPPC could become an adjunct treatment with other cell cycle activators for heart failure treatment.

Pullorum disease (PD) is one of the most common diseases in the world, with devastating consequences. In the chicken sector, there have been financial losses. It is brought on by Salmonella enteric subspecies serovar Gallinarum biovar pullorum; definitive detection requires culture followed by biochemistry analysis and serotyping. This study aimed to verify the presence of bacteria by culture, biochemical characterization, PCR assay, and sequencing. One hundred samples were collected from 12 broiler chicken flocks of different ages for 8districts of Baghdad province, including cloacal swabs (65), visceral organs (15), and dropping (20). Salmonella colonies were identified by selective culture broth and agar with biochemical description for 75% of the total samples, with a higher incidence in visceral organs than dropping and cloacal swabs. ،The Sequencing and phylogenetic tree analysis of 16S rRNA gene for representative Salmonella isolates. The presence of Salmonella pullorum isolates in global genetic strains; was revealed a matching NCBI isolates similarity of 99.02% with (MF445124.1) and 98% with (MH352164.1), respectively. In the current state of molecular and genetic research, phlyogentic research announced the real presence of Salmonella pullorum in Baghdadprovince's broiler chicken, also showing the phylogentic characteristics and links to some global isolates. The detection of Salmonella pullorum in broiler flocks of the current study extent of health risks to other uninfected birds present in the free range.

Forward osmosis (FO) is a low-energy treatment process driven by osmosis to induce the separation of water from dissolved solutes/foulants through the membrane in hydraulic pressure absence while retaining all of these materials on the other side. All these advantages make it an alternative process to reduce the disadvantages of traditional desalination processes. However, several critical fundamentals still require more attention for understanding them, most notably the synthesis of novel membranes that offer a support layer with high flux and an active layer with high water permeability and solute rejection from both solutions at the same time, and a novel draw solution which provides low solute flux, high water flux, and easy regeneration. This work reviews the fundamentals controlling the FO process performance such as the role of the active layer and substrate and advances in the modification of FO membranes utilizing nanomaterials. Then, other aspects that affect the performance of FO are further summarized, including types of draw solutions and the role of operating conditions. Finally, challenges associated with the FO process, such as concentration polarization (CP), membrane fouling, and reverse solute diffusion (RSD) were analyzed by defining their causes and how to mitigate them. Moreover, factors affecting the energy consumption of the FO system were discussed and compared with reverse osmosis (RO). This review will provide in-depth details about FO technology, the issues it faces, and potential solutions to those issues to help the scientific researcher facilitate a full understanding of FO technology.

The loss of cardiomyocytes after myocardial infarction (MI) leads to heart failure. Recently, we demonstrated that transient overexpression of 4 cell cycle factors (4F), using a polycistronic non-integrating lentivirus (TNNT2-4F-NIL) resulted in significant improvement in cardiac function in a rat model of MI. Yet, it is crucial to demonstrate the reversal of the heart failure-related pathophysiological manifestations, such as renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system activation (RAAS). To assess that, Fisher 344 rats were randomized to receive TNNT2-4F-NIL or control virus seven days after coronary occlusion for 2 h followed by reperfusion. 4 months after treatment, N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide, plasma renin activity, and aldosterone levels returned to the normal levels in rats treated with TNNT2-4F-NIL but not in vehicle-treated rats. Furthermore, the TNNT2-4F-NIL-treated group showed significantly less liver and kidney congestion than vehicle-treated rats. Thus, we conclude that in rat models of MI, TNNT2-4F-NIL reverses RAAS activation and subsequent systemic congestion.

There is need for a reliable in vitro system that can accurately replicate the cardiac physiological environment for drug testing. The limited availability of human heart tissue culture systems has led to inaccurate interpretations of cardiac-related drug effects. Here, we developed a cardiac tissue culture model (CTCM) that can electro-mechanically stimulate heart slices with physiological stretches in systole and diastole during the cardiac cycle. After 12 days in culture, this approach partially improved the viability of heart slices but did not completely maintain their structural integrity. Therefore, following small molecule screening, we found that the incorporation of 100 nM tri-iodothyronine (T3) and 1 µM dexamethasone (Dex) into our culture media preserved the microscopic structure of the slices for 12 days. When combined with T3/Dex treatment, the CTCM system maintained the transcriptional profile, viability, metabolic activity, and structural integrity for 12 days at the same levels as the fresh heart tissue. Furthermore, overstretching the cardiac tissue induced cardiac hypertrophic signaling in culture, which provides a proof of concept for the ability of the CTCM to emulate cardiac stretch-induced hypertrophic conditions. In conclusion, CTCM can emulate cardiac physiology and pathophysiology in culture for an extended time, thereby enabling reliable drug screening.

The modern trend in distribution theory is to propose hybrid generators and generalized families using existing algebraic generators along with some trigonometric functions to offer unique, more flexible, more efficient, and highly productive G-distributions to deal with new data sets emerging in different fields of applied research. This article aims to originate an odd sine generator of distributions and construct a new G-family called "The Odd Lomax Trigonometric Generalized Family of Distributions". The new densities, useful functions, and significant characteristics are thoroughly determined. Several specific models are also presented, along with graphical analysis and detailed description. A new distribution, "The Lomax cosecant Weibull" (LocscW), is studied in detail. The versatility, robustness, and competency of the LocscW model are confirmed by applications on hydrological and survival data sets. The skewness and kurtosis present in this model are explained using modern graphical methods, while the estimation and statistical inference are explored using many estimation approaches.

We hope to assess the different processing methodologies or the effectiveness of the devices or systems applied in this nonparametric statistical test by observing the failure behavior of the recorded survival data. The proposed second-order approach of new better than used (NBU 2) will be employed, which requires that the test data behaves either like NBU 2 property or exponentially. If the survival data is NBU 2, the proposed treatment method is likely to be beneficial. If the data are exponential, on the other hand, the recommended treatment method has no positive or negative influence on patients, as shown in the application section. To establish the validity of the test, we calculated the power of the proposed test and efficiency on both complete and censored data, compared the results to those of existing tests, and then applied the test to a range of real-world data.
