RESUMEN

Pharyngeal tuberculosis is very rare and normally appears as an seemingly malignant process. As a result of which it is essential to perform a differential diagnosis before beginning anticancer treatment. We present a clinical case of lingual tonsil tuberculosis. A review is made of the pathogenic mechanisms, the clinical manifestations and the diagnosis of pharyngeal tuberculosis, whose response to treatment with antituberculous drugs proves to be excellent.

RESUMEN

Various tonsillar diseases caused by Actinomyces are described, including acute and chronic tonsillitis and neoplasm-like forms. These forms are illustrated by a clinical case because of the importance of considering this cause in the differential diagnosis.

RESUMEN

Fibrohistiocytomas are soft-tissue tumors of histiocytic origin that have a variety of histological patterns. Although cases of malignant fibrohisticytoma (MFH) of the head and neck have been reported with increasing frequency in recent years, they can be considered rare. However, they probably are more frequent than thought because of the different designations that the disease has received and confusion among clinicians and pathologists regarding these tumors. We report two cases of MFH of the tonsil and larynx, respectively. The histopathological diagnostic criteria, therapeutic indications, and prognosis evaluation are described.
