RESUMEN

The authors have modified a method for determining circulating immune complexes in the complement fixation test. It is shown that with the 7% concentration of polyethylene glycol (PEG)-6000, there is a more complete precipitation of low- and medium-molecular weight immune complexes. The time and temperature of serum incubation were optimized when PEG-6000 was obtained. The use of the soluble circulating immune complexes (sCIC) prepared from human serum as a standard for the construction of a standard plot could substantially enhance the sensitivity of the method (0.325 microg/ ml). The content of circulating immune complexes was studied in donors and in patients with connective tissue dysplasia (CTD) by the improved procedure. In the group of donors, the mean level of sCIC was 0.62 +/- 0.24 mg/ml. In the CTD group, that was 2.32 +/- 0.93 mg/ml; the serum concentrations of sCIC ranging from 1.1 to 5.0 mg/ml. In the donors and patients, the detection rate of serum sCIC was 100%. The proposed method may be clinically used to measure the human serum levels of sCIC.

RESUMEN

Urinary incontinence (UI) in patients with genital prolapse is not always related to stress. It may result from dyslocation of the vesicourethral segment. While genital prolapse in young patients after a single normal delivery is common manifestation of connective tissue dysplasia (CTD) at the level of the reproductive system, 51.8% cases of UI may be of neurogenic origin and present as dysfunction of the vesicourethral segment and pelvic diaphragm. Unstability of the bladder and urethra in these cases may represent CTD at the level of the pelvic organs.

RESUMEN

The principal causes of recurring prolapses are inadequate choice of surgical technique and unqualified performance of the operation proper, as well as the absence of expert evaluation of the performance capacity of this patient population. The authors suggest pathogenetically, anatomically, and functionally validated methods of reconstructive surgery permitting restoration of the position and function of the genitals and the adjacent organs and helping preserve the generative function of fertile women. Approaches to prevention of recurrences are outlined.

RESUMEN

Body defense potential was examined in 156 patients with genital fistulas of inflammatory origin. Addition of myelopid, an immunomodulating agent, to the scheme of preoperative treatment was experimentally validated. Preoperative preparation was assessed from the time course of the patients' general status, blood parameters, liver and kidney functions, and immunity status.

RESUMEN

Basing on the parameters of psychoemotional status and vegetovascular reactions in 104 patients of a reproductive age after surgical castration, the authors assess the results of combined therapy, including reflex therapy. The postoperative treatment resulted in improvement of psychoemotional status and normalization of the vegetovascular reactions that may be regarded as early manifestations of the post-castration syndrome.

RESUMEN

The time course of LH, FSH, prolactin, estradiol, hydrocortisone, insulin and catecholamine levels in the blood was followed up in 62 patients of a reproductive age after surgical switch-off of the ovaries. Reflex therapy (electroacupuncture, acupuncture, other types of reflex therapy) included in the complex of postoperative treatment was conductive to the maintenance of a favorable level of hormones contributing to compensatory defense reactions to surgical stress and total ovariectomy.

RESUMEN

The paper presents 10-year experience with surgical treatment of ureteral stricture in retrocervical endometriosis and suppurative adnexal diseases. The most efficient methods of diagnostic location and grading of ureteral stricture were found out. Therapeutic approaches to strictures coexisting with retrocervical endometriosis and suppurative adnexal lesions are discussed with reference to degrees of constriction and the status of the ureteral walls. The results of treatment are presented.

RESUMEN

Fifty-four patients with a variety of inflammatory diseases were investigated. Thirty-four of those were admitted for elective surgical treatment of genital fistulas, and 20 patients underwent a conservative anti-inflammatory treatment. Three degrees of intoxication were identified on the basis of the mean molecular level. The data obtained are an evidence of the predictive value of mean molecular level for the prognosis of pyo-septic complications.
