RESUMEN

Sarcomatoid carcinoma, a rare and aggressive subtype of bladder cancer, accounting for 0.3% of cases, is more aggressive than urothelial carcinomas. Accurate diagnosis, crucial for treatment, can be challenging. We present a characterized case of sarcomatoid carcinoma of the urinary bladder using multimodal imaging and pathology.

RESUMEN

Vaccination has become the primary means for citizens to prevent severe morbidity and mortality during the pandemic. However, vaccine hesitancy poses a major threat to global public health security. Based on the data from Chinese General Social Survey in 2021, this study aims to explore the socio-political aspects of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, focusing on the relationship between COVID-19 risk perceptions, institutional trust and vaccine hesitancy. Among the samples, 39.8% of the respondents exhibited COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, 48.9% had a high awareness of the risk of COVID-19, and 74.6% presented a high level of trust in institutions. The results showed that higher risk perception and institutional trust are negatively correlated with vaccine hesitancy (p < .001). Institutional trust had no statistically significant moderating effect on the association between risk perception and vaccine hesitancy, but the role of institutional trust in influencing vaccine hesitancy is more significant at a lower level of perceptions of COVID-19 risk. Furthermore, regional variations in the factors contributing to vaccine hesitancy were demonstrated in China. These findings have important implications for developing strategies to address vaccine hesitancy.

RESUMEN

Sarcomatoid hepatocellular carcinoma (SHCC) is a rare subtype of hepatocellular carcinoma characterized by abdominal pain or persistent fever with an inflammatory reaction. Here, we report a case of SHCC mimicking hepatic abscess described by not only ultrasonography but also computer tomography. SHCC is a rare subtype of hepatocellular carcinoma characterized by epithelial and mesenchymal tumor features with sarcomatoid morphology. Here, we report a case of SHCC described by ultrasonography and computer tomography as well as confirmed by pathological examination.

RESUMEN

Key Clinical Message: A 50-year-old man with a mass located in the left kidney was described by multimodal images, including ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. After surgical resection of the mass, pathological examination confirmed succinate dehydrogenase-deficient renal cell carcinoma. Abstract: Succinate dehydrogenase-deficient renal cell carcinoma (SDH-deficient RCC) is a malignant tumor in the kidney associated with the loss of mitochondrial enzyme II. Due to its rarity, SDH-deficient RCC is frequently misdiagnosed. We present multimodal imaging and pathologic findings in a 50-year-old male with SDH-deficient RCC.

RESUMEN

Key Clinical Message: A 23-year-old male with a tumor in the eye socket was characterized by multimodal images, including ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. After admission, surgical resection of the tumor was performed and superficial angiomyxoma was confirmed. Two years later, this tumor recurred in the same location. Abstract: Superficial angiomyxoma (SAM) is a rare benign neoplasm composed mostly of myxoid material that can affect many parts of the body in middle-aged patients. Only a few case reports have involved imaging, which is extremely insufficient. Here, we present a case of SAM in the eye socket evaluated by imaging, including ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. The patient underwent surgical resection, and the diagnosis of SAM was confirmed. During the postoperative follow-up, the tumor recurred in the same location without metastasis 2 years later.

RESUMEN

Small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (SCNEC) of the ureter is a rare malignant tumor originating from the metaplasia of urothelial cells. This report presents a case of ureteral SCNEC that was preliminarily disclosed by computed tomography; thereafter, transabdominal ultrasonography, transrectal ultrasonography, and magnetic resonance urography were performed to characterize the mass.

RESUMEN

We used semi-quantitative grading of musculoskeletal ultrasound to evaluate wrist and hand lesions of subclinical synovitis, in order to make earlier diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. A total of 164 patients were included in this study. Physical examination and ultrasound examination were used to evaluate 30 joints of the wrist and hand. According to the clinical symptoms, the patients were divided into subclinical synovitis (SS) group and clinical synovitis (CS) group. The wrist and hand joints of patients with rheumatoid arthritis between the two groups were evaluated by semi-quantitative grading of musculoskeletal ultrasound, including synovitis, Power Doppler signal, joint effusion and bone erosion. We found that the total score of semi-quantitative ultrasound, synovitis score and Power Doppler signal score in the SS group were lower than those in the CS group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in joint effusion score and bone erosion score (P>0.05). In the analysis of laboratory examination, the value of anti-RA33 antibody and ESR of SS group were decreased than that of CS group, with statistically significant difference (P=0.004), while that of RF, AKA and CCP had no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). In this study, the author also compared the tenosynovitis between the two groups. There was statistically significant difference (P=0.033). In conclusions, semi-quantitative grading of musculoskeletal ultrasound has certain diagnostic value for the diagnosis of subclinical synovitis in wrist and hand lesion.

RESUMEN

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is an invasive tumor that has been reported in many organs, such as the salivary glands, lungs, esophagus, and thymus; however, it rarely affects the breast. Here, we report a case of primary breast MEC with imaging, including mammography, ultrasonography, and magnetic resonance imaging.
