Purpose: This study described pharmaceutical and medical resource accessibility of COVID-19 treatment in Shenzhen, China during the peak of COVID-19 infection from December 2022 to January 2023, and examined its influence on clinical outcomes. Methods: We surveyed Shenzhen residents on COVID-19-related topics using electronic questionnaires. We conducted descriptive statistical analyses and multiple regressions including logistic and Tobit models to explore the impacts of resource constraints on patient outcomes. Resource utilisation and attempts to seek medical care were also described for severity-stratified subgroups. Results: 76.8% of respondents reported experiencing COVID-19 symptoms between December 7, 2022 and January 29, 2023. Of those who attempted to purchase medication, 72.8% reported drug shortage. 49% of those seeking medical treatment experienced difficulties. Compared with those who did not experience drug shortages, those who did had an odds ratio of 1.959 (95% CI: 1.159 ∼3.313) of presenting with moderate to severe symptoms. Compared with those without difficulties in seeking medical treatment, those who did had an average of 0.39 (95% CI: 0.110 ∼0.670) more days absent from work. Conclusion: Shenzhen residents with COVID-19 symptoms from December 2022 to January 2023 experienced a certain degree of pharmaceutical and medical resource constraints, which might have compromised their prognosis.

Children are generally susceptible to COVID-19, and infection with COVID-19 may cause serious harm to children. COVID-19 vaccination is an effective way to prevent infection at present, and many factors affect children's COVID-19 vaccination. This study aimed to explore the effects of perceived social support and health literacy on hesitancy towards first and second vaccine dose. This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Minhang District of Shanghai, China, in October 2022. A total of 1150 parents of preschool children from 10 kindergartens participated. The survey encompassed four sections, capturing data on sociodemographic attributes, health literacy, perceived social support, and parental COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy. Health literacy was measured using a self-designed questionnaire consisting of four dimensions. Perceived social support was assessed using the MSPSS questionnaire. Hierarchical multiple logistic regression was used to examine the relationship between the independent variables and parental hesitancy towards the first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Parental hesitancy rate for the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was 69.6%, and for the second dose, it was 33.1%. The final integrated model showed that parental hesitancy towards the first and the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine was associated with parental educational level, allergy in children, information decision-making and information comprehension ability, perceived social support from family and friends. Health literacy and perceived social support are influence factors for parental hesitancy towards COVID-19 vaccine for preschool children. The findings will provide insights for future intervention studies on COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and inform the development of vaccination policies.

CD133 is widely used as a marker to isolate tumor-initiating cells in many types of cancers. The structure of N-glycan on CD133 is altered during the differentiation of tumor-initiating cells. However, the relationship between CD133 N-glycosylation and stem cell characteristics remains elusive. Here, we found that the level of α-1,2-mannosylated CD133 was associated with the level of stemness genes in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) tissues. α-1,2-mannosylated CD133+ cells possessed the characteristics of tumor-initiating cells. The loss of the Golgi α-mannosidase I coding gene MAN1C1 resulted in the formation of α-1,2-mannosylated CD133 in iCCA-initiating cells. Mechanistically, α-1,2-mannosylation promoted the cytoplasmic distribution of CD133 and enhanced the interaction between CD133 and the autophagy gene FIP200, subsequently promoting the tumorigenesis of α-1,2-mannosylated CD133+ cells. Analysis of iCCA samples showed that the level of cytoplasmic CD133 was associated with poor iCCA prognosis. Collectively, α-1,2-mannosylated CD133 is a functional marker of iCCA-initiating cells.

Sexual dysfunction pertains to any issue that hinders an individual from attaining sexual contentment. This health issue can have a significant impact on the quality of life and psychological health of affected individuals. Sexual dysfunction can generate stress, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, which can lead to a reduction in overall life satisfaction and the quality of interpersonal relationships. Sexual dysfunction can manifest as erectile dysfunction in men or lack of sexual desire in women. Although both sexes can experience sexual problems, there are some significant differences in the manifestation of sexual dysfunction between men and women. In men, sexual dysfunction is usually physical and associated with problems such as erectile dysfunction, while in women, sexual dysfunction is usually related to psychological factors. Additionally, there was an association between hypertension and sexual dysfunction in both the sexes. In men, hypertension can cause erection problems, whereas in women, it can cause vaginal dryness and a decrease in sexual desire. Furthermore, antihypertensive drugs can negatively impact sexual function, which can decrease adherence to drug treatment. However, nebivolol, an antihypertensive drug, has beneficial effects on erectile dysfunction in men. This is believed to be because nebivolol improves blood flow to the penis by producing nitric oxide, which can help improve erections.

The vaccination rate of COVID-19 in preschool children is low, and parents' intention to vaccinate their children is also low due to multiple factors. This study aimed to establish an integrated model based on the Health Belief Model (HBM)and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), to explore the factors influencing parents' intention to vaccinate their preschool children with the first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. A total of 1264 parents of preschool children from 10 kindergartens participated in this study. Hierarchical multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the intention separately. For the integrated model with the first dose of vaccine of COVID-19, introducing the HBM variable in model 1 explained 33.98% of the variance (F = 398.71, p < .001), then upon adding the TPB variable in model 2, the explanation of variance increased to 41.93% (F = 491.94, p < .001) and parents' intention were associated with their perceived barriers, cues to action, and subjective norms. For the integrated model with the second dose of vaccine of COVID-19, introducing the HBM variable in Model 1 explained 23.76% of the variance (F = 68.82, p < .001), then upon adding the TPB variable in model 2, the explanation of variance increased to 26.67% (F = 77.24, p < .001), and parents' intention was associated with cues to action and subjective norms. The combination of the two theories improves the explanatory power of parents' intention to vaccinate their preschool children against COVID-19, and provides a basis for the development of effective interventions for vaccination of COVID-19 for preschool children.

Gravity controls directional growth of plants, and the classical starch-statolith hypothesis proposed more than a century ago postulates that amyloplast sedimentation in specialized cells initiates gravity sensing, but the molecular mechanism remains uncharacterized. The LAZY proteins are known as key regulators of gravitropism, and lazy mutants show striking gravitropic defects. Here, we report that gravistimulation by reorientation triggers mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling-mediated phosphorylation of Arabidopsis LAZY proteins basally polarized in root columella cells. Phosphorylation of LAZY increases its interaction with several translocons at the outer envelope membrane of chloroplasts (TOC) proteins on the surface of amyloplasts, facilitating enrichment of LAZY proteins on amyloplasts. Amyloplast sedimentation subsequently guides LAZY to relocate to the new lower side of the plasma membrane in columella cells, where LAZY induces asymmetrical auxin distribution and root differential growth. Together, this study provides a molecular interpretation for the starch-statolith hypothesis: the organelle-movement-triggered molecular polarity formation.

Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a major pathogen frequently found in seafood. Rapid and accurate detection of this pathogen is important for the control of bacterial foodborne diseases and to ensure food safety. In this study, we established a one-pot system that combines uracil-DNA glycosylase (UDG), loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 12b (Cas12b) for detecting V. parahaemolyticus in seafood. This detection system can effectively perform identification using a single tube and avoid the risk of carry-over contamination.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the most common neurodegenerative movement disease. It is featured by abnormal alpha-synuclein (α-syn) aggregation in dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. Macroautophagy (autophagy) is an evolutionarily conserved cellular process for degradation of cellular contents, including protein aggregates, to maintain cellular homeostasis. Corynoxine B (Cory B), a natural alkaloid isolated from Uncaria rhynchophylla (Miq.) Jacks., has been reported to promote the clearance of α-syn in cell models by inducing autophagy. However, the molecular mechanism by which Cory B induces autophagy is not known, and the α-syn-lowering activity of Cory B has not been verified in animal models. Here, we report that Cory B enhanced the activity of Beclin 1/VPS34 complex and increased autophagy by promoting the interaction between Beclin 1 and HMGB1/2. Depletion of HMGB1/2 impaired Cory B-induced autophagy. We showed for the first time that, similar to HMGB1, HMGB2 is also required for autophagy and depletion of HMGB2 decreased autophagy levels and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase III activity both under basal and stimulated conditions. By applying cellular thermal shift assay, surface plasmon resonance, and molecular docking, we confirmed that Cory B directly binds to HMGB1/2 near the C106 site. Furthermore, in vivo studies with a wild-type α-syn transgenic drosophila model of PD and an A53T α-syn transgenic mouse model of PD, Cory B enhanced autophagy, promoted α-syn clearance and improved behavioral abnormalities. Taken together, the results of this study reveal that Cory B enhances phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase III activity/autophagy by binding to HMGB1/2 and that this enhancement is neuroprotective against PD.

Background and Objective: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, that is, characterized by cognitive decline. To date, there are no effective treatments for AD. Therefore, the objective of this study was to map new perspectives on the effects of pharmacological treatment on cognitive function and the overall psychological state in patients with AD. Methods: Two independent researchers searched for randomized clinical trials (RCTs) exploring new pharmacological approaches related to cognition in Alzheimer's disease in adults from 2018 to 2023 in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane Library databases. A total of 17 RCTs were included in this review. Results: The results show that in recent years, new drugs have been tested in patients with Alzheimer's disease, including masitinib, methylphenidate, levetiracetam, Jiannao Yizhi, and Huannao Yicong formulas. Most studies have been conducted in populations with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. Conclusion: Although some of the drugs found suggested improvement in cognitive function, the scarcity of available studies highlights the need for further research in this area. Rapid urbanization has increased the complexity of the urban heat environment system, which has negative impacts on the health of the urban ecological system and the human habitat. By combining theories and technologies such as geographic information systems, remote sensing, morphological spatial pattern analysis, and circuit theory with data from MODIS land surface temperature production, urban heat island patches in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration were quantitatively identified in terms of their spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and their spatial and temporal transfer paths. This foundation revealed the geographical network structure of the urban heat environment as well as the spatial and temporal evolution process of critical corridors. According to the findings, urban heat island patches covered 16610 km2 in 2020, accounting for 7.68% of the study area. In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration, both the area and the number of urban heat island patches considerably increased between 2005 and 2020, going from being dominated by isolated island types of urban heat island patches in 2005 to being dominated by core types in 2020. In particular, the non-urban heat island patches, core type, and edge type of urban heat island patches in 2005 were the major ancestors of the core type and edge type urban heat island patches in 2020. In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration, there were more urban heat environment source sites, corridor length, densities, and present densities in 2020 than there were in 2005. The sensitive corridor was found to be the predominant type of urban heat island corridor in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration in 2020. The number of sensitive corridors increased the highest in the period from 2005-2020. As the coefficient of urban heat environment corridors increased concurrently, it was apparent that the urban heat environment corridor had a propensity to grow continuously in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration. The active adaptation and mitigation measures of the urban heat environment were proposed, and a spatial network model of the urban heat environment was finally provided. To adapt to, mitigate, and promote urban sustainable development risks, these research findings will serve as a paradigm for the identification of the urban heat environment spatial network actively and methodically.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been associated with the initiation and progression of cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to explore the relationship between the severity of OSA and the risk stratification of acute pulmonary embolism (PE). In this single-center cohort study, patients diagnosed with PE were evaluated for OSA via polygraphy monitoring. The simplified PE severity index (sPESI) and the number of patients requiring systemic thrombolysis were used to determine the severity of the disease. Echocardiography was performed on all participants. All patients were divided into 2 groups (OSA group and non-OSA group), and the patients in OSA group were then divided into 3 groups based on the severity of OSA. Patients with severe OSA had a significantly higher number of patients with sPESI ≥ 1 (P = .005). A higher proportion of patients with severe OSA require systemic thrombolysis (P = .010). Patients with apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) > 30/h had a much higher fibrinogen (P = .004) and D-dimer (P = .040) level than those in the non-OSA group. The levels of creatinine were significantly higher in patients with OSA (P = .040). Echocardiography showed a significant difference in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) between patients in non-OSA and severe OSA groups (P = .035). And brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) also exhibited a progressive worsening related to the deepest desaturation and oxygen desaturation index. OSA, especially with AHI > 30/h, is correlated with the severity and prognosis of acute PE. This might be attributed to the prothrombotic effect, renal impairment, and cardiac dysfunction in patients with severe OSA.

PURPOSE: Sialic acid-bound immunoglobulin-like lectin 15 (Siglec15) has emerged as a novel therapeutic target in tumor immunotherapy. This study is designed to investigate the function and mechanism of Siglec15 in thyroid carcinoma (THCA). MATERIALS AND METHODS: The information on patients with THCA from TGCA and GEO database were used to analyze the expression of Siglec15 in THCA. THCA cells were treated with Siglec15-mFc, a recombinant fusion protein consisting of the extracellular domain of human Siglec15 and murine IgG Fc. THP-1 cells expressing human Siglec15 and its mutant were co-cultured with THCA cells to mimic the contact between Siglec15-expressing tumor-associated macrophages and THCA cells. Wound-healing assay and transwell migration assay were used to examine the migration abilities of BCPAP and C643 cells. Pull-down assay was performed to examine the interaction between Siglec15 and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) on the cancer cells. Cycloheximide (CHX) assay was used to evaluate the stability of the protein. RESULTS: The expression of Siglec15 in thyroid carcinoma tissues is higher than in normal tissues. Siglec15 promotes the migration of THCA cells by binding to EGFR in a sialic acid-dependent manner and increases EGFR protein expression. Inhibition of the EGFR pathway blocks the effect of Siglec15 on the migration of THCA cells. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings reveals that Siglec15 promotes the migration of thyroid carcinoma cells by enhancing the EGFR protein stability.

It is a great challenge to develop photocatalysts for the degradation of organic pollutants in the aqueous environment, especially those with excellent catalytic performance under visible light conditions. In this work, using graphene oxide (GO) as an electron shuttle agent and carrier, a hybrid of ZIF-8/NH2-MIL-125(Ti) and GO (ZIF-8/NH2-MIL-125(Ti)/GO) was prepared by a simple two-step solvothermal method. The morphology, structure, and combination of the synthesized catalysts were studied. The results showed that graphene oxide and ZIF-8 formed an in situ load on NH2-MIL-125(Ti). The construction of hybrid materials significantly improved the catalytic activity of NH2-MIL-125(Ti) in the visible light range. The degradation activity of the synthesized catalyst was further tested with reactive red dye. The results showed that the catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic removal efficiency for active red, with a degradation rate of 99.8% within 2 h. The prepared hybrid materials have good application prospects in the field of organic pollutant treatment in water.

The negative symptoms of schizophrenia can be present at any clinical stage, but evaluating the negative symptoms always remains challenging. To screen the negative symptoms effectively, self-evaluation should be introduced. To date, professional psychiatrists used almost all of the scales available to screen the negative symptoms but could not obtain an accurate outcome. At the same time, an advanced self-assessment scale is needed to accompany the patients' self-feeling-based treatment strategies to understand their feelings about their symptoms. Hence, Chinese self-evaluation of negative symptoms (SNS) should be introduced in China. This study aims to examine the validity and reliability of the Chinese version of SNS. Two hundred patients with schizophrenia were included in this study and were evaluated entirely with the self-assessed negative symptoms by the Chinese version. The correlation analysis was performed between SNS and the Scale for Assessment of Negative Symptoms (SANS) to assess the criterion validity of SNS for screening negative symptoms. Exploratory factor analysis was used to determine the constructive validity of the SNS. Two senior professional psychiatrists were involved in this assessment based on their clinical experience and capability to define the severity of the negative symptoms. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis was performed to assess the cutoff point of SNS. Cronbach's alpha coefficient and intraclass correlation (ICC) coefficient were used to determine the reliability of SNS. We have the following findings: The Chinese version of SNS demonstrated a significant correlation with the SANS (r = .774, p < .05). Exploratory factor analysis demonstrated that the factor loading varies from .442 to .788. ROC analysis demonstrated that at SNS ≥ 8, the patients demonstrated a mild severity of negative symptoms, and at SNS ≥ 15, the patients demonstrated a severe severity of negative symptoms. Subsequently, 9 < SNS < 14 was defined as a moderate severity of negative symptoms. The Cronbach's alpha and ICC coefficients of the Chinese version SNS were .877 and .774, respectively. Our results showed that the acceptable validity and reliability of the Chinese version of SNS confirmed that SNS is an ideal tool for self-assessment of the negative symptoms in patients with schizophrenia.

Background: In patients with tuberculous pleural effusion (TPE) of various ages, the diagnostic accuracy of pleural biomarkers varies, and there are insufficient studies specifically in different age groups. Therefore, we investigated the adenosine deaminase cut-off value and its combination with the gamma interferon release assay for the diagnosis of TPE among patients aged ≥40 years. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 198 patients who underwent medical thoracoscopy and were admitted to the hospital between 2015 and 2020 with exudative pleural effusion and either fever, night sweats, fatigue, cough, or other clinical manifestations was performed. The medical thoracoscopy, ADA, and T-SPOT results were analysed in the pleural fluid. The patients were divided into groups based on age: 18-39, 40-59, and 60-87. Results: The best cut-off values of ADA were 29.5, 31.5 and 19.5 U/L, respectively, for the aged 18-39, aged 40-87 and aged 60-87 groups. The accuracy of 31.5 U/L was higher than 40 U/L for aged ≥40 years (86 vs 83%). The ADA diagnostic accuracy was higher than that of people under 40 years (83 vs 77%) when cut-off value of ADA was 40 U/L, but the IGRA accuracy was lower than that of people under 40 (87 vs 91%). The sensitivity of ADA or IGRA detection in patients over 40 years was 99%, and the specificity was 78%. The ADA specificity combined with IGRA for TPE was the highest (100%) in the ≥40 age group, and the sensitivity was 69%. Conclusion: Our study revealed the best cut-off values of ADA for TBE in different age groups. Combining ADA and IGRA in pleural fluid improves the detection rate of TPE in patients over 40 years of age with exudative pleural effusion. ADA combined with IGRA increases specificity, and ADA or IGRA increases sensitivity substantially.

Antibacterial and hemostatic properties are essential for wound healing dressing. In this study, a new type of hydrogel composed of gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) and hyaluronic acid-aldehyde (HA-CHO) is fabricated by photo-crosslinking and respectively loaded with a single drug gentamicin sulfate (GS), and two drugs of GS and lysozyme (LZM). The composite hydrogel of GelMA and HA-CHO is successfully synthesized by the aldehyde and Schiff base reactions. The structures and compositions of the hydrogels with and without drug loaded are characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, and XPS. Furthermore, the microstructure and swelling behaviour of hydrogels prove that the content of HA-CHO has a significant role in the formation of hydrogels with dense porous structures and super absorbent. pH 7.4 and pH 5.0 conditions are used to evaluate the drug release behaviour of the obtained hydrogels. The released amount of GS of the drug-loaded hydrogels in the acidic buffer is more than that of the physiological environment because of the cleaved Schiff base bonds and the electrostatic interaction. Especially for the dual drug-loaded hydrogel GelMA/HA-CHO/GS/LZM, the released ratio of GS is elevated from 59 % in pH 7.4 buffer to about 78 % in pH 5.0 buffer within the first 6 h, which verifies the excellent pH-stimulus responsiveness. These endow the GS-LZM dual drug-loaded hydrogels with superior antibacterial efficiencies to that of the single GS drug-loaded hydrogels, no drug-loaded hydrogels, and SEBS control, especially in inhibiting S. aureus in a lower concentration of 106 CFU mL-1, which can be attributed to the synergistic effect of LZM and GS. For S. aureus at 106 CFU mL-1, the bacterial survival of GelMA/HA-CHO/GS/LZM is 1.1 %, which shows outstanding antibacterial effect. Hence, the drug-loaded hydrogels, especially the dual drug-loaded hydrogels with pH-responsive, antibacterial, and hemostatic properties have great potential as wound healing materials.

(1) Background: Huperzine A, a natural cholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor isolated from the Chinese herb Huperzia Serrata, has been used as a dietary supplement in the United States and a drug in China for therapeutic intervention on Alzheimer's disease (AD). This review aims to determine whether Huperzine A exerts disease-modifying activity through systematic analysis of preclinical studies on rodent AD models. (2) Methods: Sixteen preclinical studies were included based on specific criteria, and the methodological qualities were analyzed by SYRCLE's risk of bias tool. Some outcomes were meta-analyzed: latencies and time spent in quadrant of Morris water maze, soluble amyloid-ß (Aß) level measured by ELISA in the cortex and hippocampus, Aß plaque numbers measured by immunohistochemistry in hippocampus, choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) activity, and AChE activity. Finally, the mechanisms of Huperzine A on AD models were summarized. (3) Conclusions: The outcomes showed that Huperzine A displayed AChE inhibition, ChAT activity enhancement, memory improvement, and Aß decreasing activity, indicating the disease-modifying effect of Huperzine A. However, due to the uneven methodological quality, the results need to be rationally viewed, and extensively repeated.

Objective: This study aimed to develop an integrated model based on the health belief model (HBM) and the theory of planned behavior (TPB) to explore the influencing factors of parents' intentions toward preschool children's myopia preventive behaviors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Minhang District, Shanghai, China in January 2022. One thousand six hundred and twenty-eight parents of preschool children from seven preschools were recruited in the study. A four-part questionnaire was used to collect data on socio-demographic characteristics, HBM variables, TPB variables and parental intentions. This study used exploratory factor analysis to analyze HBM and TPB items. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed to explore the relationship between independent variables and parents' intentions toward preschool children's myopia preventive behaviors. Results: The final integrative model showed that perceived severity, perceived barriers, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control were associated with parents' intentions toward preschool children's myopia preventive behaviors. In model 1, Child's age was entered as a control variable and explained 0.6% of the variance (F = 7.241, p = 0.007). When the HBM variables were entered in model 2, the proportion of variance increased to 25.4% (F = 73.290, P < 0.001). In model 3, TPB variables were entered and explained 63.2% of the variance (F = 246.076, p < 0.001). Conclusion: The integrated model of HBM and TPB constructed in this study significantly improved the degree of explanation of parents' intentions toward preschool children's myopia preventive behaviors. Parents' perceived severity, perceived barriers, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control can be prioritized intervention targets for myopia preventive practices in preschool children.

Accurate assessment of anxiety disorders and their symptomatology in schizophrenic patients is important for prognosis and treatment. Measuring anxiety on the traditional anxiety assessment scales such as the Hamilton Anxiety Rating (HAMA) Scale or the self-rating depression scale (SAS) is challenging and often considered unsuitable for assessing anxiety symptoms in patients with schizophrenia. The Staden schizophrenia anxiety rating scale (S-SARS) has been shown to reliably measure specified and undifferentiated anxiety in schizophrenia. The present study aims to test the reliability and validity of the S-SARS version, thereby facilitating Chinese psychiatrists in assessing anxiety symptoms in schizophrenic patients. A total of 300 patients meeting ICD-10 diagnostic criteria of schizophrenia were recruited by convenience sampling. We used the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to evaluate the structural validity of S-SARS and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves to acquire the cutoff point of S-SARS to define the severity of anxiety. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's and Krippendorff's α scores. 1-week test-retest reliability was assessed using the intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC). Correlation analysis with HAMA was used to determine the Chinese version of S-SARS criterion validity. We have the following results: Our version of S-SARS showed Cronbach's α score as 0.899, Krippendorff's α as 0.874, and a correlation coefficient of 0.852 between S-SARS and HAMA. The EPA demonstrated that the contribution rate of major factors was 69.45%. All the items of S-SARS were located in one factor and showed a high factor load (0.415-0.837). The correlation coefficient of S-SARS and HAMA was 0.852. Our results indicated that Chinese version of S-SARS showed good constructive validity and reliability. It also showed better criterion validity compared to HAMA. The S-SARS and its Chinese version can thus serve as an effective tool for assessing anxiety symptoms in patients with schizophrenia.
