RESUMEN

Free space optical (FSO) communication has gained widespread attention due to its advantages, including high confidentiality, high communication capacity, and no limitation of spectrum. One of the great challenges in FSO communication is the transmission performance degradation in atmospheric turbulence channel due to wavefront distortion and scintillation. Here, we proposed and experimentally demonstrated a 120 Gbit/s vector beam multiplexed coherent optical communication system with turbulence-resilient capacity. Four multiplexed vector beams, each carrying a 30 Gbit/s quadrature phase-shift keying signal, propagate through different turbulence conditions. The influence of turbulence channel on the vector beam impairments is experimentally investigated. Under the weaker turbulence conditions, the system bit error rates are below the forward error correction threshold of 3.8 × 10-3. In comparison with the Gaussian mode, the communication interruption probability of the vector beams system decreases from 36% to 12%-18% under stronger turbulence conditions.

RESUMEN

For the first time, to the best of our knowledge, we experimentally demonstrate a high-speed free-space secure optical communication system based on all-optical chaos modulation. The effect of atmospheric turbulence on optical chaos synchronization is experimentally investigated via a hot air convection atmospheric turbulence simulator. It is shown that, even under moderately strong turbulent conditions, high-quality chaos synchronization could be obtained by increasing the transmission power. Moreover, a secure encryption transmission experiment using a high bias current induced chaotic carrier for 8-Gbit/s on-off-keying data over a ∼10-m free-space optical link is successfully demonstrated, with a bit-error rate below the FEC threshold of 3.8 × 10-3. This work favorably shows the feasibility of optical chaotic encryption for the free-space optical transmission system.

RESUMEN

Two new tigliane diterpenes, named eupneonoids A (1) and B (2), together with four known analogues (3-6) were isolated from the whole plant of Euphorbia neorubella Bruyns. Their structures were deduced based on the detailed spectroscopic analysis. All the isolates displayed cytotoxic effects against A549 human tumor cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 1.318 to 7.042 µM.

RESUMEN

We demonstrate for the first time, to our knowledge, an all-fiber erbium-doped mode-locked laser in which mode-locking (ML) is realized by the combination of nonlinear polarization rotation and a saturable dynamic filtering effect, thereby generating nearly transform-limited ultrashort pulses with a pulse duration and spectral width of 45.2 ps and 0.0775 nm, respectively. The laser achieves both ML and harmonic ML by increasing the pump power. Simultaneously, the filtering function is maintained by the saturable dynamic induced grating (SDIG) throughout the power-modulation process. Furthermore, numerical simulations are used to analyze the pulse energy evolution in the cavity, revealing the advantages of hybrid ML in decreasing the pulse duration and time-bandwidth product under narrow filtering status. This work proposes a practical method to achieve ultrafast laser pulses with a narrow bandwidth, solving the problem that the SDIG has a hard time realizing a stable ML sequence.

RESUMEN

Pituitary tumors account for 10% of intracranial cancer, and are difficult to treat with chemotherapy. The aim of the present study was to explore the role of matrine on the proliferation of pituitary cancer cells, as well as the molecular mechanism of matrine in progression and development of pituitary tumors. Matrine significantly suppressed the proliferation of pituitary cancer cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Western blotting results showed that the phosphorylation levels of AKT serine/threonine kinase (Akt) and forkhead box O3A (Foxo3a) decreased as the concentration of matrine increased. Matrine increased the nuclear localization of Foxo3a and the expression of proapoptotic genes, such as BCL2 like 11 and BCL2 associated X apoptosis regulator, and inhibited the levels of cytoplasmic Foxo3a. In conclusion, matrine promoted cell death of pituitary cancer cells and was involved in Akt/Foxo3a signaling pathway.

RESUMEN

Accurately reconstructing gene co-expression network is of great importance for uncovering the genetic architecture underlying complex and various phenotypes. The recent availability of high-throughput RNA-seq sequencing has made genome-wide detecting and quantifying of the novel, rare and low-abundance transcripts practical. However, its potential merits in reconstructing gene co-expression network have still not been well explored. Using massive-scale RNA-seq samples, we have designed an ensemble pipeline, called NetMiner, for building genome-scale and high-quality Gene Co-expression Network (GCN) by integrating three frequently used inference algorithms. We constructed a RNA-seq-based GCN in one species of monocot rice. The quality of network obtained by our method was verified and evaluated by the curated gene functional association data sets, which obviously outperformed each single method. In addition, the powerful capability of network for associating genes with functions and agronomic traits was shown by enrichment analysis and case studies. In particular, we demonstrated the potential value of our proposed method to predict the biological roles of unknown protein-coding genes, long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) genes and circular RNA (circRNA) genes. Our results provided a valuable and highly reliable data source to select key candidate genes for subsequent experimental validation. To facilitate identification of novel genes regulating important biological processes and phenotypes in other plants or animals, we have published the source code of NetMiner, making it freely available at https://github.com/czllab/NetMiner.

RESUMEN

The study was to evaluate the contribution of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) to the regeneration of the torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a rabbit. ACL transection surgeries were performed on both knees of male New Zealand rabbits. Then injury reparation was done as follows: 0.5ml fibrin glue (FG) alone (FG-treated group, n=24 knees) and 0.5ml FG dissolve with 15ng CTGF (CTGF/FG-treated group, n=24 knees). At 2 or 6 weeks after surgery, the ACLs were characterized histologically (n=6 knees) and biomechanically (n=6 knees). The healing effect of the CTGF/FG-treated group was obviously better than that of the FG-treated group, with an increased amount of collagen fibers and fibroblasts in the ligament tissue. After 2 or 6 weeks of healing, CTGF/FG-treated group exhibited significantly higher maximum loads of 8.50±0.58N and 16.35±1.16N, compared with the control group (7.52±0.80N and 13.60±1.35N). And the stiffness of CTGF/FG-treated group at 2 or 6 weeks post-intervention (5.59±1.24N/mm and 11.64±2.21N/mm) was remarkably higher than that the control group (3.74±0.89N/mm and 6.83±2.51N/mm). CTGF could serve as a potentially attractive tool for improving ACL injury treatment by promoting the regeneration of related cells.
