BACKGROUND: Healthy parturients may experience pulmonary edema and disturbed cardiac function during labor. We aimed to evaluate the extravascular lung water (EVLW), intravascular volume, and cardiac function of normal parturients during spontaneous vaginal delivery by bedside ultrasound. And to explore the correlation between EVLW and intravascular volume, cardiac function. METHODS: This was a prospective observational study including 30 singleton-term pregnant women undergoing spontaneous vaginal delivery. Bedside ultrasound was performed at the early labor, the end of the second stage of labor, 2 and 24 h postpartum, and 120 scanning results were recorded. EVLW was evaluated by the echo comet score (ECS) obtained by the 28-rib interspaces technique. Inferior vena cava collapsibility index (IVC-CI), left ventricle ejection fraction, right ventricle fractional area change, left and right ventricular E/A ratio, and left and right ventricular index of myocardial performance (LIMP and RIMP) were measured. Measurements among different time points were compared, and the correlations between ECS and other measurements were analyzed. RESULTS: During the spontaneous vaginal delivery of healthy pregnant women, 2 had a mild EVLW increase at the early labor, 8 at the end of the second stage of labor, 13 at 2 h postpartum, and 4 at 24 h postpartum (P < 0.001). From the early labor to 24 h postpartum, ECS first increased and then decreased, reaching its peak at 2 h postpartum (P < 0.001). IVC-CI first decreased and then increased, reaching its minimum at the end of the second stage of labor (P < 0.001). RIMP exceeded the cut-off value of 0.43 at the end of the second stage of labor. ECS was weakly correlated with IVC-CI (r=-0.373, P < 0.001), LIMP (r = 0.298, P = 0.022) and RIMP (r = 0.211, P = 0.021). CONCLUSIONS: During spontaneous vaginal delivery, the most vital period of perinatal care is between the end of the second stage of labor and 2 h postpartum, because the risk of pulmonary edema is higher and the right ventricle function may decline. IVC-CI can be used to evaluate maternal intravascular volume. The increase in EVLW may be related to the increase in intravascular volume and the decrease in ventricular function.

Sludge biochar(BC), which was prepared by the pyrolysis of waste-activated sludge at 450℃, was applied for peroxymonosulfate(PMS) activation to construct a BC/PMS system for ciprofloxacin(CIP) degradation. The physical and chemical properties of BC were studied using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), an energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS), a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR), X-ray diffraction(XRD), a Zeta potential analyzer, and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy(EPR). The effects of BC dosage, PMS dosage, initial pH value, and inorganic anions on CIP removal in the BC/PMS system were investigated. Further, the degradation mechanism of the BC/PMS system was speculated through the free radical quenching experiment and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) analysis. The results showed that the CIP degradation rate was 49.09% at a BC dosage of 1.0 g·L-1, PMS of 3.0 mmol·L-1, CIP of 20 mg·L-1, and pH of 6.0 in 120 min. SO42- and NO3- had no obvious effect on the removal of CIP in the BC/PMS system, whereas HCO3- and Cl-could inhibit CIP degradation significantly. The CIP removal in the BC/PMS system was attributed to the common function of the radical pathway dominated by ·OH and SO4-· and the non-radical pathway dominated by 1O2. The CIP degradation pathway mainly included piperazine ring opening and hydroxylation reaction.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Specific mechanisms of lymph node (LN) metastasis in early-stage gastric cancer (GC) have not been elucidated. The role of anemia, a vital clinical feature of GC, in LN metastasis is also unclear. Since the number of erythroid progenitor cells (EPCs) is increased in chronic anemia, we investigated its association with LN metastasis in GC. METHODS: Flow cytometry and immunofluorescence analyses were performed to sort and study EPCs from the circulation and tumors of patients with stage I-III GC. The effect of these EPCs on the activation of T and B cells and on the functions of lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) was determined, and their ability to promote LN metastasis was evaluated using a footpad-popliteal LN metastasis model based on two human adenocarcinoma GC cell lines in nude mice. The prognostic value of EPCs was also analyzed. RESULTS: The proportion of CD45- EPCs was higher in the mononuclear cells in the circulation, tumors, and LNs of GC patients with LN metastasis (N+) than in those of GC patients without LN metastasis (N0). In N+ patients, CD45- EPCs were more abundant in metastatic LNs than in non-metastatic LNs. Lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluronan receptor 1 immunoreactivity in tumors revealed that CD45- EPCs were positively associated with nodal stages and lymph vessel density. Furthermore, CD45- EPCs increased LEC proliferation and migration through their S100A8/A9 heterodimer-induced hybrid epithelial/mesenchymal (E/M) state; however, they did not influence the invasion and tubulogenesis of LECs or T and B cell proliferation. CD45- EPCs promoted LN metastasis in vivo; the S100A8/A9 heterodimer mimicked this phenomenon. Finally, CD45- EPCs predicted the overall and disease-free survival of stage I-III GC patients after radical resection. CONCLUSIONS: The CD45- EPCs accumulated in GC tissues and metastatic LNs and promoted LN metastasis via the S100A8/9-induced hybrid E/M state of LECs, which was the specific mechanism of LN metastasis in the early stages of GC.

Since the successful clinical trial of AuroShell for photothermal therapy, there is currently intense interest in developing gold-based core-shell structures with near-infrared (NIR) absorption ranging from NIR-I (650-900 nm) to NIR-II (900-1700 nm). Here, we propose a seed-mediated successive growth approach to produce gold nanoshells on the surface of the nanoscale metal-organic framework (NMOF) of UiO-66-NH2 (UiO = the University of Oslo) in one pot. The key to this strategy is to modulate the proportion of the formaldehyde (reductant) and its regulator / oxidative product of formic acid to harness the particle nucleation and growth rate within the same system. The gold nanoshells propagate through a well-oriented and controllable diffusion growth pattern (points → facets → octahedron), which has not been identified. Most strikingly, the gold nanoshells prepared hereby exhibit an exceedingly broad and strong absorption in NIR-II with a peak beyond 1300 nm and outstanding photothermal conversion efficiency of 74.0%. Owing to such superior performance, these gold nanoshells show promising outcomes in photoacoustic (PA), computed tomography (CT), and photothermal imaging-guided photothermal therapy (PTT) for breast cancer, as demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory type of arthritis that causes joint pain and damage. The inflammatory cell infiltration (e.g., M1 macrophages), the poor O2 supply at the joint, and the excess reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced oxidative injury are the main causes of RA. We herein report a polydopamine (PDA)-coated CeO2-dopped zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) nanocomposite CeO2-ZIF-8@PDA (denoted as CZP) that can synergistically treat RA. Under near-infrared (NIR) light irradiation, PDA efficiently scavenges ROS and results in an increased temperature in the inflamed area because of its good light-to-heat conversion efficiency. The rise of temperature serves to obliterate hyper-proliferative inflammatory cells accumulated in the diseased area while vastly promoting the collapse of the acidic-responsive skeleton of ZIF-8 to release the encapsulated CeO2. The released CeO2 exerts its catalase-like activity to relieve hypoxia by generating oxygen via the decomposition of H2O2 highly expressed in the inflammatory sites. Thus, the constructed CZP composite can treat RA through NIR-photothermal/ROS-scavenging/oxygen-enriched combinative therapy and show good regression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) in vitro and promising therapeutic effect on RA in rat models. The multimodal nano-platform reported herein is expected to shed light on the design of synergistic therapeutic nanomedicine for effective RA therapy.

We designed and synthesized three new berberine-based compounds, namely, pyridine-2,6-dimethyl-/2,2'-bipyridine-3,3'-dimethyl-tethered berberine dimers BD1 and BD2, and a tetrakis(4-benzyl)ethylene linked berberine tetramer BD4. We identified that the dimer BD2 and tetramer BD4, as well as 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dimethyl-linked berberine dimer BD3 previously reported by us, showed remarkable aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties which endowed them with higher singlet oxygen (1O2) production ability than berberine. Of the four compounds, BD3 exhibits the lowest ΔEST energy with the highest 1O2 generation ability and thus was selected for further construction of AuNSs-BD3@HA (denoted as ABH, AuNSs = gold nanostars; HA = hyaluronic acid). The nanosystem of ABH shows a remarkable therapeutic effect toward breast cancer by combining photodynamic therapy (PDT) from BD3, photothermal therapy (PTT) from AuNSs, and the CD44-targeting capability of HA. The synergistically enhanced PDT and PTT induce superior cancer cell apoptosis/necrosis in vitro and anti-breast cancer activity in vivo. This study provides a new concept for PDT using natural product derivatives and their combination with PTT for efficient treatment of tumors.

Background: Infections are the second leading cause of death among patients undergoing hemodialysis. However, preventive measures against infectious diseases are limited and have not been made mandatory for patients. Objective: To investigate the incidence of infectious diseases before and during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Design: A historical comparative study of a prospective cohort. Setting(s): February 1, 2015 to January 31, 2020 was defined as the period before the mitigative confrontation of the COVID-19 pandemic in China. The period from February 1 to June 29, 2020 was defined as the period of mitigative confrontation of the COVID-19 pandemic in China. Participants: A cohort of patients undergoing hemodialysis whose infectious disease episodes were documented prospectively in the hemodialysis unit of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University since February 1, 2015. Methods: Mandatory mask-wearing and reinforced hand-hygiene education were implemented to prevent COVID-19 from January 23, 2020 in China. The incidence of infectious episodes, including catheter-related infection, digestive tract infection, upper respiratory tract infection (UTRI), pneumonia, and infection at other sites, were documented and compared in the periods before and during the pandemic. Results: The historical control group consisted of 157 patients, with 79 patients in the COVID-19 prevention group. The mask-wearing rate of patients increased from 1.5 to 100%. Hand sanitizer consumption increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The compliance rates of hand hygiene increased from 66, 75.5, to 55% in physicians, nurses, and other employees before the pandemic to 90.5, 92.5, and 76.5%, respectively. The incidences of UTRI and pneumonia decreased during the pandemic (p < 0.001). Notably, catheter-related and digestive tract infections also decreased during the pandemic (p = 0.003 and 0.034, respectively). A matched-pair study was conducted to further analyze the 79 individual changes in the incidences of infectious disease before and during the pandemic. As a result, the incidences of UTRI, pneumonia, catheter-related infections, digestive tract infections, and infections at other sites all decreased during the pandemic. Conclusions: The present study indicated an association between mandatory mask-wearing and reinforced hand hygiene education and decreased respiratory, catheter-related, and digestive tract infection episodes in the hemodialysis unit.

CD36 plays a critical role in lipid metabolism, which is closely associated with human immunity. However, the role of CD36 in cancer remains unclear. We performed a pan-cancer analysis to elucidate the potential role of CD36 in cancer by investigating its prognostic value and current predictors for the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in multiple cancer types. CD36 expression in cancer cell lines, tumor tissue, and their adjacent normal tissues displayed heterogeneity among different cancers. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect CD36 expression and confirmed the results. CD36 expression significantly affects prognosis in the six cancer types. High CD36 expression was marginally associated with poorer prognosis in four of them and improved prognosis in the remaining two types. CD36 expression was significantly correlated with the 6 immune infiltrates in most cancer types. In addition, CD36 gene expression was positively correlated with Stromal score, Immune score, and ESTIMATE score. A total of 47 immune checkpoint genes were collected and their relationship with CD36 expression was analyzed. CD36 expression was significantly associated with multiple stimulatory and inhibitory checkpoint molecules with a disease-specific pattern. As to the genes reported to positively relate to the efficacy of ICIs, CD36 expression was positively correlated with most of them but negatively associated with a small proportion of cancer type-specific patterns. Concerning the genes negatively related to the efficacy of ICIs, CD36 expression was positively correlated with NRP1 and TNFSF15 in multiple cancers. CD36 expression was negatively correlated with tumor neoantigen burden in most cancer types. However, CD36 expression was negatively correlated with tumor mutation burden in most cancer types. The correlation between CD36 expression and the four methyltransferases was also significant in multiple cancers, but also with a cancer type-specific pattern. In summary, the current study found CD36 expression and its prognostic value in multiple cancer types. In addition, the expression of CD36 was significantly associated with current predictors for the efficacy of ICIs. The practical application value of CD36 is disease specific.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the predictive capability of neutrophil-to-apolipoprotein A1 ratio (NAR) for predicting overall survival (OS) among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) receiving transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). PATIENTS AND METHODS: We investigated the clinical features of 554 patients with HCC receiving TACE and assessed NAR's predictive value for OS with 222 patients (the discovery cohort) and 332 patients (the validation cohort). The association of NAR with circulation lectin-type oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1-positive (LOX-1+ ) polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells (PMN-MDSCs) was illustrated. RESULTS: Multivariate Cox regression revealed that lymphocyte count; Tumor, Node, Metastasis (TNM) stage; and NAR were independent prognostic factors in the discovery cohort. The validation cohort confirmed the independent prognostic value of TNM stage and NAR. Patients with low NAR (<2.7) displayed significantly increased OS in the discovery cohort (59.8 months vs. 21 months), the validation group (38.0 months vs. 23.6 months), and the total cohort (44.1 months vs. 22.0 months). A Cox proportional hazards model was used to combine Cancer of the Liver Italian Program (CLIP) score with discretized NAR. C-index illustrated that NAR-integrated CLIP score was the best model compared with NAR and CLIP score. Furthermore, NAR-CLIP presented superior predictive capacity for 10-, 20-, 30-, 40-, 50-, and 60-month survival compared with CLIP score by survival receiver-operator characteristic analysis in the discovery cohort, validation cohort, and total cohort. NAR was significantly associated with LOX-1+ PMN-MDSCs by linear regression. CONCLUSION: This study identified NAR as an independent predictor for OS among patients with HCC receiving TACE. NAR reflected circulation LOX-1+ PMN-MDSC level. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: The present study identified neutrophil-to-apolipoprotein A1 ratio (NAR) as an independent predictor for overall survival among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma receiving transarterial chemoembolization. NAR reflected circulation level of lectin-type oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1-positive polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells.

In this era of immune checkpoint inhibitors, inflammatory adverse events of anti-cancer therapies continue to pose a major challenge. Glucocorticoids, as the mainstay, were limited by serious side effects. Glucocorticoids induce myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), and lactoferrin-induced polymorphonuclear MDSCs (PMN-MDSCs) were shown to relieve inflammatory conditions. Combined treatment with dexamethasone (DXM) and lactoferrin increased the generation of PMN-MDSCs in vitro (DXM/lactoferrin PMN-MDSCs) compared to DXM or lactoferrin treatment alone. DXM/lactoferrin PMN-MDSCs were distinct from tumor PMN-MDSCs in vivo with regard to gene expression profiles. DXM upregulated the myeloid cell response to lactoferrin by inducing the lactoferrin receptor Lrp1. DXM/lactoferrin PMN-MDSCs presented anti-bacterial capability, increased PGE2 production, increased survival capability, and decreased tumor tissue homing. Transfer of DXM/lactoferrin PMN-MDSCs relieved cisplatin-induced acute kidney failure, bleomycin-induced interstitial pneumonia, and allergic pneumonitis effectively without promoting tumor development. Our study shows that DXM/lactoferrin PMN-MDSCs are a promising cell therapy for inflammatory adverse events of anti-cancer therapies.

Importance: There is insufficient evidence on the efficacy of masks in the general population for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in public areas. Therefore, it is imperative to investigate the association of mandatory mask-wearing policies with behaviors associated with the transmission of COVID-19. Objective: To assess the association of mask wearing with face-touching behavior among the general population in public areas. Design, Setting, and Participants: This cross-sectional study used videos recorded in public transportation stations, streets, and parks among the general population in China, Japan, South Korea, Western Europe (ie, England, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy), and the US to analyze mask-wearing and face-touching behavior in public areas. Videos before the COVID-19 pandemic were defined as those recorded from January 2018 to October 2019, and those during the COVID-19 pandemic were defined as those recorded during February 2020 to March 2020 in China, Japan, and South Korea and during March 2020 in Western Europe and the US. Individuals who clearly displayed their face and face-touching behavior were included, and those whose behaviors were influenced by filming or public events were excluded. Exposures: Mandatory mask-wearing policies enacted at various time points in China, Japan, South Korea, Western Europe, and the US. Main Outcomes and Measures: Proportion of individuals wearing masks and incidence of face touching. Results: This study included 4699 individuals before the COVID-19 pandemic and 2887 individuals during the pandemic. During the periods studied, mask wearing increased in all regions except the US, from 20 of 1745 individuals (1.1%) to 1090 of 1097 individuals (99.4%) in mainland China (P < .001), 44 of 1422 individuals (3.1%) to 346 of 893 individuals (38.7%) in Japan (P < .001), 6 of 717 individuals (0.8%) to 277 of 324 individuals (85.5% ) in South Korea (P < .001), 1 of 546 individuals (0.2%) to 6 of 379 individuals (1.6%) in Western Europe (P = .02), and 1 of 269 individuals (0.4%) to 4 of 194 individuals (2.1%) in the US (P = .17). Surgical masks were predominant in China (989 masks [89.1%]), and fabric masks were predominant in the other regions (Japan: 371 masks [95.1%]; South Korea: 240 masks [84.8%]; Western Europe: 6 masks [85.7%]; US: 5 masks [100%]). Face-touching behaviors decreased from before COVID-19 to during COVID-19 among individuals in China (72 incidences of 1745 observations [4.1%] to 12 incidences of 1097 observations [1.1%]; P < .001), South Korea (80 incidences of 717 observations [11.2%] to 7 incidences of 324 observations [2.2%]; P < .001), and Europe (62 incidences of 546 observations [11.4%] to 23 incidences of 379 observations [6.1%]; P = .01). Logistic regression found that mask wearing was associated with a reduction in face touching in China (odds ratio [OR], 3.91; 95% CI, 2.11-7.24) and South Korea (OR, 6.69; 95% CI, 2.69-16.69) and of touching the nose, mouth, and eyes (China: OR, 8.60; 95% CI, 2.65-27.86; South Korea: OR, 29.27; 95% CI, 1.79-478.22). Conclusions and Relevance: The findings of this cross-sectional study suggest that mandatory mask-wearing policies were associated with increased mask wearing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mask wearing was associated with reduced face-touching behavior, especially touching of the eyes, nose, and mouth, which may prevent contact transmission of COVID-19 among the general population in public areas.

BACKGROUND: The efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant treatment over surgery alone and that of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NCRT) over neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) in resectable esophageal carcinoma remains inconclusive. This study (NewEC) used global data to comprehensively evaluate these comparisons and to provide a preferable strategy for patient subsets. METHODS: This study included a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) identified from inception to May 2019 from PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, ClinicalTrials.gov, and congresses and a registry-based cohort study with patients from Massachusetts General Hospital (Massachusetts, USA) and Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangzhou, China) recruited from November 2000 and June 2017, to cross-validate the comparisons among NCRT versus NCT versus surgery. The GRADE approach was used to assessed quality of evidence in meta-analysis. Neural network machine learning propensity score-matched analysis was used to account for confounding by patient-level characteristics in the cohort study. The primary endpoint was overall survival (OS). The study was registered with PROSPERO CRD42017072242 and ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04027543. FINDINGS: Of 22,070 studies assessed, there were 38 (n = 6,993 patients) eligible RCTs. Additionally, 423 out of 467 screened patients were included in the cohort study. The results from trials showed that NCT had a better OS than surgery alone (hazard ratio [HR] 0·88, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0·79-0·98; high quality) and was only favorable for adenocarcinoma (HR 0·83, 95% CI 0·72-0·96; moderate quality). High-quality evidence showed a significantly better OS for NCRT than surgery alone (HR 0·74, 95% CI 0·66-0·82) for both adenocarcinoma (HR 0·73, 95% CI 0·62-0·86) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) (HR 0·73, 95% CI 0·65-0·83). The OS benefit of NCRT over NCT was seen in the pairwise (HR 0·78, 95% CI 0·62-0·99; high quality) and network (HR 0·82, 95% CI 0·72-0·93; high quality) meta-analyses, with similar results before (HR 0·60, 95% CI 0·40-0·91) and after (HR 0·44, 95% CI 0·25-0·77) matching in the cohort study, leading to a significantly increased 5-year OS rate in both adenocarcinoma and SCC before and after matching. The increased benefits from NCT or NCRT were not associated with the risk of 30-day or in-hospital mortality. INTERPRETATION: NewEC Study provided high-quality evidence supporting the survival benefits of NCRT or NCT over surgery alone, with NCRT presenting the greatest benefit for resectable esophageal carcinoma. ZnO light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have an enormous potential in lighting applications. The major issue to be resolved is the generating and control of light emissions. This issue arises from the variation and combination in LED wavelength. We found that defect luminescence of ZnO has a varied wide range of wavelength, which suits to an application of LED for white-light generation. We have shown both experimentally and theoretically that defect emission can be used in ZnO systems. This type of defect has the advantage of not requiring extensive and costly factory systems comparing with traditional doped materials and others. We not only propose potential application of native defect luminescence of Zinc Oxide film for white LEDs-flat light sources, but also have some methods to control defect origins, a certain center position and broad range of the emission band of ZnO film in the initial stage. According to different preparing method and certain experiment conditions, variant white such as whitish and bluish-white etc., primary and important colors- blue bands (455, 458 nm), green bands (517, 548 nm), red bands (613, 569 nm) are obtained respectively. This proved that it is a better road to one white light LED with one kind of material -ZnO.

RESUMEN

A new method for the construction of five-membered spirocyclic oxindoles is based on a Michael-Mannich cascade reaction of a ketimine intermediated catalyzed by a bifunctional quinine-derived squaramide. The desired products were obtained in excellent yields (up to 94%) and stereoselectivities (up to >20:1 d.r., >99% ee). A scaled-up variant also proceeded smoothly showing that the one-pot reaction might find application in the synthesis of bioactive-compound libraries.

We discussed the diagnostic and treatment value and clinical significance of computer assisted surgery system (Higemi) in precision surgeries for pediatric complex liver tumors. A total of 21 pediatric cases receiving hepatectomy for tumors in the portal vein and giant liver tumors from June 2012 to January 2015 were analyzed. Higemi was used for 3-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of thin-slice CT images and surgical planning. Tumors were precisely located and blood vessel neighborhood was determined so as to evaluate surgical feasibility. In addition, pathological classification, surgical time, intraoperative blood loss, transfusion rate and complications were predicted. After 3D reconstruction using Higemi, the neighboring relationship of tumors with blood vessels and the running direction of the blood vessels were clearly visualized. Of 21 cases, 10 cases had tumors located in the left lobe, 5 cases in the right lobe, 3 cases showing involvement of right trilobes, and 3 cases in the middle lobe. Lobes exceeding one third of the total liver volume were resected in 18 cases. Postoperative pathological examination indicated 10 cases of hepatoblastoma, 3 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma, 3 cases of hamartoma, 3 cases of infantile hemangioendothelioma, 1 case of teratoma and 1 case of undifferentiated malignant mesenchymoma. The surgical time was 90-240 min with an average of 130 min; the medium intraoperative blood loss was 60 ml and the minimum blood loss was 3 ml; the transfusion rate was 42.9% (9/21). Surgeries were successful in 20 cases, who were discharged after recovery. However, one case had giant liver tumor combined with severe obstructive jaundice and hepatic insufficiency and died of postoperative liver failure and DIC. 3D reconstruction of CT data using Higemi can clearly visualize the running direction of blood vessels and the neighboring relationship with tumors. Higemi can improve the precision and safety of complex hepatectomy.

Moreover, this method could be applied to the synthesis of indolizidines in the gram scale.

OBJECTIVE: To establish a polyethylene glycol (PEG6000) precipitation method for screening macroprolactinemia in patients with high serum prolactin (PRL). METHODS: PEG6000 precipitation method was used to remove macroprolactin (MPRL) molecules in serum of PRL-elevated patients. The effect of PEG6000 precipitating serum MPRL was determined by Sephacryl S-100HR chromatography plus chemiluminescent immunoassay and SDS-PAGE plus Western Blot assay. The PEG6000 precipitation plus chemiluminescent immunoassay was applied to screen serum samples of PRL-elevated patients for macroprolactinemia. The clinical manifestations of patients with true-hyperprolactinemia, hyperprolactinemia/macroprolactinemia or true-macroprolactinemia were analyzed and compared. RESULTS: After precipitation with PEG6000, MPRL peak or hybridization signal in the serum samples was markedly decreased, while the big or small prolactin (BPRL or SPRL) levels were not affected. In 1538 PRL-elevated patients, 16.1% (247/1538) were detectable for macroprolactinemia, while the 83.9% (1291/1538) were identified as true-hyperprolactinemia. In 247 samples of macroprolactinemia, 93.5% (231/247) were determined as true-macroprolactinemia, while 6.5% (16/247) were identified as hyperprolactinemia plus macroprolactinemia. In 508 true-hyperprolactinemia patients, menoxenia, menolipsis/menostasia, dysgenesia or hypophysoma were manifested in 438 (86.2%), which were also manifested in 85.7% (6/7) of hyperprolactinemia/macroprolactinemia patients. However, only 11 cases in 71 true-macroprolactinemia patients (15.5%) presented above clinical diseases. CONCLUSION: There is a certain proportion of true-macroprolactinemia (pseudo-hyperprolactinemia) in serum PRL-elevated patients. The PEG6000 precipitation method established in this study can efficiently distinguish true-hyperprolactinemia from pseudo-hyperprolactinemia in patients.

In the present paper, taking Tiegunyin tea as an example, surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectrum of tea was obtained, the effects of different active substrates were explored from the aspects of enhanced factor, background noise, repeatability, and signal to noise ratio (SNR), while the impact of adsorption time on the measurement was also discussed. The results show that it is feasible to obtain the SERS spectrum of tea, and Raman signal of SERS spectrum was greatly enhanced compared with that of regular Raman spectrum. The active substrate of silver colloid prepared by the reduction of silver nitrate and trisodium citrate has a better enhanced effect, while different adsorption times have no direct influences on the SERS measurement. The method based on SERS firstly proposed in this paper may provide an alternative method for the discriminant analysis and quality identification of tea.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the value of plasma ProGRP, CYFRA 21-1 and CEA in patients with lung cancer. METHODS: The levels of plasma ProGRP, CYFRA 21-1 and CEA were detected in 85 healthy control, 49 benign lung diseases and 143 lung neoplasms. The levels of ProGRP in the patients with SCLC was monitored. RESULTS: The level of plasma ProGRP in SCLC (M 179.1 ng/ml) was significantly higher than adenocarcinoma (M 35.3 ng/ml), squamous-cell carcinoma (M 33.3 ng/ml), healthy control (M 35.6 ng/m) and benign lung diseases (M 33.3 ng/m), P < 0.001. The sensitivity and specificity for diagnosing SCLC by ProGRP were 60.6% and 95.0% respectively. In the effective treatment group, ProGRP reduced 45.9%, in the progression group, ProGRP increased 103.1%, P < 0.05. The level of CEA in the metastatic adenocarcinoma (M 10.22 ng/ml) was significantly higher than non-metastatic adenocarcinoma (M 3.85 ng/ml) and squamous cell carcinoma (M 2.56 ng/ml) (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The plasma ProGRP is a good indicator for diagnosing and evaluating cure effect in SCLC; the high expression of CEA is related to the metastatic adenocarcinoma.
