RESUMEN

Vision Transformers have been the most popular network architecture in visual recognition recently due to the strong ability of encode global information. However, its high computational cost when processing high-resolution images limits the applications in downstream tasks. In this paper, we take a deep look at the internal structure of self-attention and present a simple Transformer style convolutional neural network (ConvNet) for visual recognition. By comparing the design principles of the recent ConvNets and Vision Transformers, we propose to simplify the self-attention by leveraging a convolutional modulation operation. We show that such a simple approach can better take advantage of the large kernels ( ≥ 7×7) nested in convolutional layers and we observe a consistent performance improvement when gradually increasing the kernel size from 5×5 to 21×21. We build a family of hierarchical ConvNets using the proposed convolutional modulation, termed Conv2Former. Our network is simple and easy to follow. Experiments show that our Conv2Former outperforms existent popular ConvNets and vision Transformers, like Swin Transformer and ConvNeXt in all ImageNet classification, COCO object detection and ADE20k semantic segmentation. OBJECTIVES: Examine the significance of contouring the brachial plexus (BP) for toxicity estimation and select metrics for predicting radiation-induced brachial plexopathy (RIBP) after stereotactic body radiotherapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients with planning target volume (PTV) ≤ 2 cm from the BP were eligible. The BP was contoured primarily according to the RTOG 1106 atlas, while subclavian-axillary veins (SAV) were contoured according to RTOG 0236. Apical PTVs were classified as anterior (PTV-A) or posterior (PTV-B) PTVs. Variables predicting grade 2 or higher RIBP (RIBP2) were selected through least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression and logistic regression. RESULTS: Among 137 patients with 140 BPs (median follow-up, 32.1 months), 11 experienced RIBP2. For patients with RIBP2, the maximum physical dose to the BP (BP-Dmax) was 46.5 Gy (median; range, 35.7 to 60.7 Gy). Of these patients, 54.5 % (6/11) satisfied the RTOG limits when using SAV delineation; among them, 83.3 % (5/6) had PTV-B. For patients with PTV-B, the maximum physical dose to SAV (SAV-Dmax) was 11.2 Gy (median) lower than BP-Dmax. Maximum and 0.3 cc biologically effective doses to the BP based on the linear-quadratic-linear model (BP-BEDmax LQL and BP-BED0.3cc LQL, α/ß = 3) were selected as predictive variables with thresholds of 118 and 73 Gy, respectively. CONCLUSION: Contouring SAV may significantly underestimate the RIBP2 risk in dosimetry, especially for patients with PTV-B. BP contouring indicated BP-BED0.3cc LQL and BP-BEDmax LQL as potential predictors of RIBP2.

One can derive an analytic result for the issue of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in anisotropic 2D harmonic traps. We find that the number of uncondensed bosons is represented by an analytic function, which includes a series expansion of q-digamma functions in mathematics. One can utilize this analytic result to evaluate various thermodynamic functions of ideal bosons in 2D anisotropic harmonic traps. The first major discovery is that the internal energy of a finite number of ideal bosons is a monotonically increasing function of anisotropy parameter p. The second major discovery is that, when p≥0.5, the changing with temperature of the heat capacity of a finite number of ideal bosons possesses the maximum value, which happens at critical temperature Tc. The third major discovery is that, when 0.1≤p<0.5, the changing with temperature of the heat capacity of a finite number of ideal bosons possesses an inflection point, but when p<0.1, the inflection point disappears. The fourth major discovery is that, in the thermodynamic limit, at Tc and when p≥0.5, the heat capacity at constant number reveals a cusp singularity, which resembles the λ-transition of liquid helium-4. The fifth major discovery is that, in comparison to 2D isotropic harmonic traps (p=1), the singular peak of the specific heat becomes very gentle when p is lowered.

CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) is a versatile technology that allows precise modification of genes. One of its most promising applications is in cancer treatment. By targeting and editing specific genes involved in cancer development and progression, CRISPR has the potential to become a powerful tool in the fight against cancer. This review aims to assess the recent progress in CRISPR technology for cancer research and to examine the obstacles and potential strategies to address them. The two most commonly used CRISPR systems for gene editing are CRISPR/Cas9 and CRISPR/Cas12a. CRISPR/Cas9 employs different repairing systems, including homologous recombination (HR) and nonhomologous end joining (NHEJ), to introduce precise modifications to the target genes. However, off-target effects and low editing efficiency are some of the main challenges associated with this technology. To overcome these issues, researchers are exploring new delivery methods and developing CRISPR/Cas systems with improved specificity. Moreover, there are ethical concerns surrounding using CRISPR in gene editing, including the potential for unintended consequences and the creation of genetically modified organisms. It is important to address these issues through rigorous testing and strict regulations. Despite these challenges, the potential benefits of CRISPR in cancer therapy cannot be overlooked. By introducing precise modifications to cancer cells, CRISPR could offer a targeted and effective treatment option for patients with different types of cancer. Further investigation and development of CRISPR technology are necessary to overcome the existing challenges and harness its full potential in cancer therapy.

Nowadays, there is an increasing demand for smart packaging materials capable of effectively monitoring the food freshness. In this study, new Co-based MOF (Co-BIT) microcrystals with ammonia-sensitivity and antibacterial function were constructed and then loaded within cellulose acetate (CA) matrix to create smart active packaging materials. The influences of Co-BIT loading upon structure, physical, and functional properties of the CA films were then thoroughly explored. It was observed that microcrystalline Co-BIT was uniformly integrated inside CA matrix, which caused significant promotions in mechanical strength (from 24.12 to 39.76 MPa), water barrier (from 9.32 × 10-6 to 2.73 × 10-6 g/m·h·Pa) and ultraviolet light protection performances of CA film. Additionally, the created CA/Co-BIT films displayed striking antibacterial efficacy (>95.0 % for both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus), favorable ammonia-sensitivity function as well as color stability. Finally, the CA/Co-BIT films were successfully applied for indicating the spoilage of shrimp through discernible color changes. These findings suggest that Co-BIT loaded CA composite films have great potential for use as smart active packaging.

BACKGROUND: Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 15/19, which is expressed in and secreted from the distal ileum, can regulate hepatic glucose metabolism in an endocrine manner. The levels of both bile acids (BAs) and FGF15/19 are elevated after bariatric surgery. However, it is unclear whether the increase in FGF15/19 is induced by BAs. Moreover, it remains to be understood whether FGF15/19 elevations contribute to improvements in hepatic glucose metabolism after bariatric surgery. AIM: To investigate the mechanism of improvement of hepatic glucose metabolism by elevated BAs after sleeve gastrectomy (SG). METHODS: By calculating and comparing the changes of body weight after SG with SHAM group, we examined the weight-loss effect of SG. The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) test and area under the curve of OGTT curves were used to assess the anti-diabetic effects of SG. By detecting the glycogen content, expression and activity of glycogen synthase as well as the glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase) and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (Pepck), we evaluated the hepatic glycogen content and gluconeogenesis activity. We examined the levels of total BA (TBA) together with the farnesoid X receptor (FXR)-agonistic BA subspecies in systemic serum and portal vein at week 12 post-surgery. Then the histological expression of ileal FXR and FGF15 and hepatic FGF receptor 4 (FGFR4) with its corresponding signal pathways involved in glucose metabolism were detected. RESULTS: After surgery, food intake and body weight gain of SG group was decreased compare with the SHAM group. The hepatic glycogen content and glycogen synthase activity was significantly stimulated after SG, while the expression of the key enzyme for hepatic gluconeogenesis: G6Pase and Pepck, were depressed. TBA levels in serum and portal vein were both elevated after SG, the FXR-agonistic BA subspecies: Chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA), lithocholic acid (LCA) in serum and CDCA, DCA, LCA in portal vein were all higher in SG group than that in SHAM group. Consequently, the ileal expression of FXR and FGF15 were also advanced in SG group. Moreover, the hepatic expression of FGFR4 was stimulated in SG-operated rats. As a result, the activity of its corresponding pathway for glycogen synthesis: FGFR4-Ras-extracellular signal regulated kinase pathway was stimulated, while the corresponding pathway for hepatic gluconeogenesis: FGFR4- cAMP regulatory element-binding protein- peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator-1α pathway was suppressed. CONCLUSION: Elevated BAs after SG induced FGF15 expression in distal ileum by activating their receptor FXR. Furthermore, the promoted FGF15 partly mediated the improving effects on hepatic glucose metabolism of SG.

Adrenomedullin (ADM) is a novel cardiovascular peptide with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Chronic inflammation, oxidative stress and calcification play pivotal roles in the pathogenesis of vascular dysfunction in obesity-related hypertension (OH). Our study aimed to explore the effects of ADM on the vascular inflammation, oxidative stress and calcification in rats with OH. Eight-week-old Sprague Dawley male rats were fed with either a Control diet or a high fat diet (HFD) for 28 weeks. Next, the OH rats were randomly subdivided into two groups as follows: (1) HFD control group, and (2) HFD with ADM. A 4-week treatment with ADM (7.2 µg/kg/day, ip) not only improved hypertension and vascular remodeling, but also inhibited vascular inflammation, oxidative stress and calcification in aorta of rats with OH. In vitro experiments, ADM (10 nM) in A7r5 cells (rat thoracic aorta smooth muscle cells) attenuated palmitic acid (PA, 200 µM) or angiotensin II (Ang II, 10 nM) alone or their combination treatment-induced inflammation, oxidative stress and calcification, which were effectively inhibited by the ADM receptor antagonist ADM22-52 and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) inhibitor Compound C, respectively. Moreover, ADM treatment significantly inhibited Ang II type 1 receptor (AT1R) protein expression in aorta of rats with OH or in PA-treated A7r5 cells. ADM improved hypertension, vascular remodeling and arterial stiffness, and attenuated inflammation, oxidative stress and calcification in OH state partially via receptor-mediated AMPK pathway. The results also raise the possibility that ADM will be considered for improving hypertension and vascular damage in patients with OH.

Bolometers based on graphene have demonstrated outstanding performance with high sensitivity and short response time. In situ adjustment of bolometers is very important in various applications, but it is still difficult to implement in many systems. Here we propose a gate-tunable bolometer based on two strongly coupled graphene nanomechanical resonators. Both resonators are exposed to the same light field, and we can measure the properties of one bolometer by directly tracking the resonance frequency shifts, and indirectly measure the other bolometer through mechanical coupling. We find that the sensitivity and the response bandwidth of both bolometers can be independently adjusted by tuning the corresponding gate voltages. Moreover, the properties of the indirectly measured bolometer show a dependence on the coupling between the two resonators, with other parameters being fixed. Our method has the potential to optimize the design of large-scale bolometer arrays, and open new horizons in infrared/terahertz astronomy and communication systems.

Objective To design and validate a novel surgical guide for retrieval of foreign body in jaw. Methods Firstly, a surgical guide based on cone beam computed tomography and trephine technique was designed to remove broken dental instrument fragments. Its feasibility and accuracy were assessed by removing broken dental instrument in goat mandible, and then it was successfully applied in clinical cases. The linear and angular discrepancies between actual and planned columnar bone with imaginary fragment was analyzed. The euclidean distance was measured at the hex and apex of the columnar bone and the angle of axis deviation was also calculated. We obtained seven parameters (cdh, cda, hdh, hda, vdh, vda, and ad) to describe deviations. Results Mean central deviation at the hex and apex was (0.51 ± 0.14) mm and (0.62 ± 0.19) mm, respectively. Accompanying mean values were as follow: horizontal deviation at the hex was (0.48 ± 0.16) mm, horizontal deviation at the apex was (0.52 ± 0.22) mm, vertical deviation at the hex was (0.17 ± 0.09) mm, vertical deviation at the apex was (0.29 ± 0.13) mm, and angular deviation of (5.38 ± 3.43) degrees. In a clinical case, the guide successfully located and removed the fracture file. Conclusion This study reveals that this kind novel surgical guide could aid to locate and remove the foreign body in jaw.

A urea-utilizing bacterium, designated Q2-2 T, was isolated from landfill. Cells of strain Q2-2 T were Gram stain-negative, aerobic, short-rod bacteria. Strain Q2-2 T was observed to grow at a temperature range of 15-37℃ (optimum 30 â„ƒ), a pH range of 5.5-9.5 (optimum pH 8.0) and 0-4% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1%). The major respiratory quinone was Q-8, and the major polar lipids were diphosphatidyl glycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylmethylethanolamine, and phosphatidyl glycerol. Based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence, strain Q2-2 T had the highest similarity with Paracandidimonas caeni 24 T (98.0%), followed by Pusillimonas soli MJ07T (97.5%), Parapusillimonas granuli Ch07T (97.2%), Pusillimonas ginsengisoli DCY25T (97.1%) and Paracandidimonas soli IMT-305 T (96.4%). The ANI values between strain Q2-2 T and the above related type strains were 71.02%, 73.52%, 74.32%, 74.59% and 72.29%, respectively. The DNA G + C content of strain Q2-2 T was 61.1%. Therefore, strain Q2-2 T represents a novel species of the genus Paracandidimonas, for which the name Paracandidimonas lactea sp. nov. (type strain Q2-2 T = CGMCC 1.19179 T = JCM 34906 T) is proposed.

Background: Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is a rare genetic syndrome that predisposes individuals to develop bilateral vestibular schwannomas (VSs) causing a high risk of life-threatening neurological complications. Traditional treatment options for NF2-associated VS usually cause neurological damage, and to date, there are no FDA-approved pharmacotherapies for NF2. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antitumor efficacy of Qu-Du-San-Jie (QDSJ) decoction, a traditional Chinese medicine formula, on NF2-associated VS and to investigate the potential underlying mechanisms. Methods: Ultra high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy (UHPLC-MS) analysis was performed to identify the components of QDSJ and their targets. To determine the relationships between the putative targets of QDSJ and the differential genes of NF2-associated VS, the drug-disease crossover genes were screened using the UHPLC-MS data combined with our previous gene expression profiling data. The differentially expressed genes were imported into the STRING database to generate a PPI network. Differentially expressed gene targets and pathways were identified using GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses. The in vitro and in vivo drug efficacy of QDSJ decoction was tested using a patient-derived schwannoma cell line and a patient-derived xenograft mouse model, respectively. H&E staining, immunochemistry, and immunofluorescence staining were used to evaluate the cell proliferation and tumor vessels. Results: A total of 133 compounds were identified in QDSJ decoction using UHPLC-MS analysis. Network pharmacology showed that the regulation of necroptosis, apoptosis, cell cycle, angiogenesis, adherens junction, and neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction could be associated with the efficacy of QDSJ in treating NF2-associated VS. Treatment with QDSJ induced necrotic cell death and apoptosis of schwannoma cells in vitro and suppressed the tumor growth in vivo. Histopathological analysis revealed areas of cell necrosis and enlarged tumor blood vessels in the QDSJ-treated tumors. The numbers of cells positive for Cyclin D1 and Ki-67 were significantly reduced in QDSJ-treated tumors compared to control tumors. Immunofluorescence staining of CD31 and αSMA showed a decreased number and density of tumor vessels and normalized vessel structure in QDSJ-treated tumors. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that QDSJ decoction shows significant antitumor activity against NF2-associated schwannoma and is a possible candidate for future clinical trials.

Particle image velocimetry (PIV) is a quantitative flow visualization technique, which greatly improves the ability to characterize various complex flows in laboratory and field environments. However, the deployment of reference objects or ground control points (GCPs) for velocity calibration is still a challenge for in situ free-surface velocity measurements. By combining space-time image velocimetry (STIV) with direct sensor orientation (DSO) photogrammetry, a laser distance meter (LDM)-supported photogrammetric device is designed, to realize the GCPs-free surface velocity measurement under an oblique shooting angle. The velocity calibration with DSO is based on the collinear equation, while the lens distortion, oblique shooting angle, water level variation, and water surface slope are introduced to build an imaging measurement model with explicit physical meaning for parameters. To accurately obtain the in situ position and orientations of the camera utilizing the LDM and its embedded tilt sensor, the camera's intrinsic parameters and relative position within the LDM are previously calibrated with a planar chessboard. A flume experiment is designed to evaluate the uncertainty of optical flow estimation and velocity calibration. Results show that the proposed DSO-STIV has good transferability and operability for in situ measurements. It is superior to propeller current meters and surface velocity radars in characterizing shallow free-surface flows; this is attributed to its non-intrusive, whole-field, and high-resolution features. In addition, the combined uncertainty of free-surface velocity measurement is analyzed, which provides an alternative solution for error assessment when comparing measurement failures.

As an inherent property of the device itself, nonlinearity in micro-/nano- electromechanical resonators is difficult to eliminate, and it has shown a wide range of applications in basic research, sensing and other fields. While many application scenarios require tunability of the nonlinearity, inherent nonlinearity of a mechanical resonator is difficult to be changed. Here, we report the experimental observation of a Joule heating induced tuning effect on the nonlinearity of graphene mechanical resonators. We fabricated multiple graphene mechanical resonators and detected their resonant properties by an optical interference method. The mechanical vibration of the resonators will enter from the linear to the nonlinear intervals if we enhance the external driving power to a certain value. We found that at a fixed drive power, the nonlinearity of a mechanical resonator can be tuned by applying a dc bias current on the resonator itself. The tuning mechanism could be explained by the nonlinear amplitude-frequency dependence theory. Our results may provide a research platform for the study of mechanical nonlinearity by using atomic-thin layer materials.

Objective: Fluorofenidone (AKF-PD) is a novel antifibrotic small-molecule compound. The purpose of this study was to investigate the metabolic and excretory pathways of AKF-PD in rats. Methods: High-performance liquid chromatography with mass spectrometric (HPLC-MS) detection was used to analyze the metabolites in rat urine. The metabolites were separated by chromatography and their structure was confirmed. HPLC was used to determine the contents of the parent compound and its metabolites in feces and urine after quantitative administration to study the excretion pathway. Results: AKF-PD was mainly oxidized to the carboxyl group after methyl hydroxylation. After oral administration, the total amount of the prototype drug and its hydroxylated metabolites and carboxylated metabolites excreted from the urine and feces of rats was 87%. However, most of them are excreted in urine and feces in the form of carboxylated metabolites, and rarely excreted in the form of prototype drugs and hydroxylated metabolites. Which is that the urinary discharge of hydroxylated metabolites, fluorine ketones, and carboxylated metabolites were 0.2%, 1.1%, and 75.2%, respectively, while the fecal discharge were 0.2%, 0.3%, and 10.1%, respectively. Conclusion: AKF-PD is mainly oxidized into 2-hydroxymethyl and 5-carboxyl AKF-PD through the Phase I metabolic reaction in rats. AKF-PD is a highly permeable compound classified by biopharmaceutics and is mainly excreted from the urine in the form of metabolites.

Host genes critical for viral infection are effective antiviral drug targets with tremendous potential due to their universal characteristics against different subtypes of viruses and minimization of drug resistance. Accordingly, we execute a genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screen with multiple rounds of survival selection. Enriched in this screen are several genes critical for host sialic acid biosynthesis and transportation, including the cytohesin 2 (CYTH2), tetratricopeptide repeat protein 24 (TTC24), and N-acetylneuraminate synthase (NANS), which we confirm are responsible for efficient influenza viral infection. Moreover, we reveal that CYTH2 is required for the early stage of influenza virus infection by mediating endosomal trafficking. Furthermore, CYTH2 antagonist SecinH3 blunts influenza virus infection in vivo. In summary, these data suggest that CYTH2 is an attractive target for developing host-directed antiviral drugs and therapeutics against influenza virus infection.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the mechanism of E2F transcription Factor 1 (E2F-1)-mediated ataxia-telangiectasia-mutated protein (ATM) in cisplatin (DDP)-resistant nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). METHODS: E2F-1 and ATM expression was assessed in DDP-resistant NPC cell lines (CNE2/DDP and HNE1/DDP) and parental cells. Then, DDP-resistant NPC cells were transfected with control shRNA (short hairpin RNA) or E2F-1 shRNAs with or without ATM lentiviral activation particles. The half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) was evaluated by 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, and the cell cycle and cell proliferation were measured by flow cytometry and EdU staining, respectively. In addition, the expression of genes and proteins was quantified by quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and western blotting, respectively. RESULTS: Both E2F-1 and ATM expression in DDP-resistant NPC cells was much higher than that in parental cells. E2F-1 shRNA reduced ATM expression in DDP-resistant NPC cells, but ATM overexpression had no significant effect on E2F-1. ATM overexpression enhanced DDP resistance in DDP-resistant NPC cells with increased IC50 values, which was reversed by E2F-1 inhibition. Meanwhile, ATM overexpression resulted in upregulation of ABCA2 and ABCA5 in DDP-resistant NPC cells, induced elevations in the transition of the cells into S-phase, and increased cell proliferation with enhanced expression of cyclin E1, CDK2, and Ki67, which was reversed by E2F-1 shRNAs. CONCLUSION: Downregulation of E2F-1, possibly by regulating ATM, could block the cell cycle in the G1 phase and reduce the proliferation of CNE2/DDP cells, thereby reversing the resistance of human NPC cells to DDP.

The aim of this study is to understand individual motivation to speak up, which extends the application of voice behavior. Employing a cross-level moderation framework, this paper explored the relationship between employees' authoritarian leadership perceptions and their speaking-up behavior, as reported by supervisors, along with a moderating effect of group loyalty. Specifically, we propose a conceptual variable, "saying nothing but good news", which related to the choice of the selective disclosure of information to others. Utilizing data of 140 supervisors and 603 subordinates in the Taiwanese military, results of the hierarchical linear modeling (HLM) analysis revealed that authoritarian leadership was negatively related to prohibitive voice, but positively related to saying nothing but good news. Group loyalty moderated the relationship between authoritarian leadership and prohibitive voice when group loyalty is high. Implications for management and future research are discussed.

Two closely related, aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, motile, oval-shaped, non-endospore-forming, moderately thermophilic bacteria, designated strains SYSU G05006T and SYSU G05005, were isolated from a bioreactor enrichment and the original sample was collected from Rehai National Park, Tengchong, Yunnan Province, PR China. The results of phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that these two strains were closely related to Caldovatus sediminis YIM 72346T (96.75 and 96.89 % sequence similarity, respectively). The whole genome size of strain SYSU G05006T was 3.87 Mbp with a DNA G+C content of 75.33 mol%. The average nucleotide identity (ANI based on the MUMmer algorithm≤90.31 % and ANI based on blast≤89.36 %) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (≤35.10 %) values between strain SYSU G05006T and other members of the family Acetobacteraceae were all lower than the threshold values recommended for distinguishing novel prokaryotic species. Optimal growth of the strain was observed at 55 °C and pH 6.0. Ubiquinone-10 was the predominant respiratory lipoquinone. The major cellular fatty acids included iso-C14 : 0, C16 : 1 ω5c, summed feature 5 and summed feature 7. The major polar lipids consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol, one unidentified aminolipid, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, two unidentified phospholipids and two unidentified lipids. Based on results of phylogenetic analyses, comparative genomics and phenotypic characteristics, we describe a new species of the genus Caldovatus represented by strain SYSU G05006T (=KCTC 82831T=MCCC 1K06125T), for which we propose the name Caldovatus aquaticus sp. nov.

Multimodal sensing can provide a comprehensive and accurate diagnosis of biological information. This paper presents a fully integrated wireless multimodal sensing chip with voltammetric electrochemical sensing at a scanning rate range of 0.08-400 V/s, temperature monitoring, and bi-phasic electrical stimulation for wound healing progress monitoring. The time-based readout circuitry can achieve a 1-20X scalable resolution through dynamic threshold voltage adjustment. A low-noise analog waveform generator is designed using current reducer techniques to eliminate the large passive components. The chip is fabricated via a 0.18 µm CMOS process. The design achieves R2 linearity of 0.995 over a wide current detection range (2 pA-12 µA) while consuming 49 µW at 1.2 V supply. The temperature sensing circuit achieves a 43 mK resolution from 20 to 80 degrees. The current stimulator provides an output current ranging from 8 µA to 1 mA in an impedance range of up to 3 kΩ. A wakeup receiver with data correlators is used to control the operation modes. The sensing data are wirelessly transmitted to the external readers. The proposed sensing IC is verified for measuring critical biomarkers, including C-reactive protein, uric acid, and temperature.
