RESUMEN

Ceramic based on zirconium dioxide (ZD) is a modern, durable material for the manufacture of dentures. It is known that ZD is not etched as glass-ceramic, making it difficult to prepare this material before fixing. OBJECTIVE: To study the impact of various methods of surface treatment of ZD-based ceramic on adhesive strength. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sandblasting with Al2O3 particles sized 50 µm and application of primers with 10-MDP phosphate monomer were used. Adhesive strength values for following 4 groups of samples were obtained: 1st group - RelyX U200 + sandblasting + Compofix new primer (n=9); 2nd group - Compofix + sandblasting + Compofix new primer (n=9); 3rd group - Panavia F 2.0 + sandblasting (n=9); 4th group (control) - Variolink Esthetic DC + sandblasting + Monobond Plus primer (n=9). RESULTS: The highest strength of adhesion was in the 4th group - 48.71±5.71MPa, the smallest in the 3rd group - 9.49±35.24 MPa. Fully domestic components used in the 2nd group allowed to obtain values of 42.50±9.79 MPa. Adhesive strength in the 1st group was 34.11±4.78 MPa. CONCLUSION: The absence of the 10-MDP-based primers application in the preparation of ZD ceramic reduces the adhesive strength between resin cement and its surface. The domestic set for fixation of dentures can be effectively used for ZD on the same basis as European analogue.

RESUMEN

The aim of thes; study was to observe initial stage of wedge-shaped defects under scanning electron microscopy without prior samples preparation. There were revealed special features of structure of enamel and cement at initial stage of wedge-shaped defects in comparison to normal tissues.

RESUMEN

A new in principle, ecologically safe and low-waste technology for preparation of an alloy and a formula of several silver alloys containing different levels of silver (OCTA-43, 70 and 80) have been developed. The absence of a alpha-2 phase in amalgams prepared from these alloys is their principally new feature. Physical properties of the new alloys were studied and compared with the known Russian and foreign analogs. Amalgam prepared from CCTA-43 alloy is characterized by optimal characteristics. By their physical characteristics the new compositions are superior to traditional and silver alloys manufactured in Russia at present, and amalgam prepared from OCTA-43 alloy is not inferior to the best foreign analogs.

RESUMEN

The authors assess clinical efficacy and possibility of using finely dispersed copper alloy for CMTA amalgam in dentistry. They compare their results with the data of clinical trials of tableted cooper amalgam TMAC-01 which is commercially manufactured at present. CMTA cooper amalgam was found preferable to TMAC-01 amalgam at all stages of carious process compensation in children due to its better strength, increased color stability, and corrosion resistance. This material is recommended for pedodontics for filling carious cavities of the first, second, and fifth class in deciduous molars.

RESUMEN

To assess the working conditions of medical staff the authors compared mercury vapor concentrations released during manipulations with various copper amalgams, TMAC-01 tableted copper amalgam manufactured by Nikitiv Mercury Plant, its foreign copper analog manufactured be "Becht" (Germany), and a new CMTA capsulated copper amalgam. Use of CMTA copper amalgam was found not hazardous for medical staff provided sanitary and hygienic regulations were adhered to. Moreover, mercury vapor concentrations released during work allow its use in rooms without ventilation cabinets, whereas tableted copper amalgams TMAC-01 and Becht may be used only in dentistry rooms equipped with such cabinets.

RESUMEN

The authors present the results of physical studies of a new generation of copper amalgam: capsulated, obtained from a newly developed alloy, permitting preparation of fillings in an amalgam-mixer capsule by mixing the powder with mercury at room temperature. Copper finely dispersed amalgam (CFDA) alloy powder is characterized by a regular shape of structural components. This feature permits accurate dosage and helps prepare fillings characterized by good reproducibility. Copper amalgam prepared from CFDA alloy is characterized by high color stability and corrosion resistance, is rapidly hardening and strong as against amalgams currently used both in Russia and abroad.

RESUMEN

Several modifications of copper amalgams were examined. The findings evidence that of the amalgam constituents only copper passes into saliva, nutrient media, and animal body tissues and accumulates there. The findings of sanitary chemical and toxicologic studies helped select a hygienically optimal copper amalgam sample exerting no detrimental effects on the body.
