RESUMEN

We explored the effects of disturbance densities on the spatial pattern and the association of tree species in the coniferous broadleaved mixed forest in Pangquangou Nature Reserve of Guandi Mountain. Using three factors including canopy density, stand density and number of stumps, we classified the disturbance intensities of different forest stands into three levels, non-disturbance, moderate disturbance, and severe disturbance. The spatial distribution pattern and the association of different tree species were analyzed by spatial point pattern K2 function. The results showed that the diameter distribution of trees in undisturbed plots was inverted 'J' type, while that of moderate disturbance and serious disturbance plots was under bimodal curve distribution. The stand distribution pattern showed a small-scale aggregated distribution under undisturbed and moderately distur-bance, and a random distribution under heavy disturbance. At the small scale, the coniferous and broadleaved species showed no correlation in undisturbed stands, were positively correlated in moderately disturbed stands, and negatively correlated in seriously disturbed stands. At large scale, they were no correlated in both moderately and seriously disturbed stands. The results suggested that abundance of trees with small diameter in the forests was negatively with disturbance intensity, which led to the lower degree of intraspecific aggregation at small scale. Meanwhile, appropriate levels of disturbance would benefit the collaborative use of environmental resources for trees. Our results revealed the impacts of disturbance density on forest community structure and could provide theoretical basis for forest management.

RESUMEN

From February to March 2014, six natural villages in Zhoucheng Town, Binchuan County of Yunan Province, were randomly selected by cluster sampling. Serum anti-fascioliasis IgG was detected by ELISA. The sero-positive individuals were further tested for Fasciola infection using sediment detection with nylon bag (260 meshes) and Kato-Katz method. Among 1207 sampled persons, the sero-positive rate was 3.0% (36/1207). The rate in males and females was 2.3% (12/530) and 3.6% (24/677) (u=1.46, P>0.05). The sero-positive rate in Zhoucheng Village and Baizhuang Village was 4.0% (24/616) and 2.0% (12/591), respectively (u=2.07, P<0.05). The positive rate of stool examination in serum-positive persons was 6.5% (2/31). One stool-egg-positive patients was the case in 2012 outbreak, and the eggs were stale. The other patient was newly infected, and further clinical diagnosis indicated that it was a case of chronic fascioliasis.

RESUMEN

We evaluated the potential effectiveness of dynamic contrast-enhanced perfusion-weighted images (PWI) in determining hemodynamic activation in brain structures that may be involved in mediating the symptomatology of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), as manifested by contamination obsessions with washing compulsions. Ten unmedicated female patients with OCD were subjected to PWI, and relative cerebral blood flow (rCBF) in each region of interest (ROI) and self-ratings of OCD symptoms were compared before and after symptom provocation. We found that increases in the Anxiety Analogue Scale (AAS) and OCD Analogue Scale (OCDAS) scores were each significantly associated with provocation. The correlations between OCDAS and AAS scores were also statistically significant during both the control and provoked conditions. Compared with the control state, there was a significant increase in rCBF during the symptomatic state in the right head of caudate nucleus, thalamus, and bilateral orbitofrontal cortices (OFC). No statistical changes in rCBF were found in the bilateral anterior cingulate cortices (ACC). These findings demonstrate that OCD symptomatology is accompanied by anxiety, and that abnormal features are particularly apparent in the orbitofrontal-subcortical circuits.
