RESUMEN

Cystic echinococcosis is caused by the tissue-dwelling larva (hydatid) of Echinococcus granulosus sensu lato. A salient feature is that this larva is protected by the acellular laminated layer (LL). As the parasite grows, the LL sheds abundant particles that can accumulate in the parasite's vicinity. The potential of LL particles to induce inflammation in vivo has not been specifically analysed. It is not known how each of its two major components, namely highly glycosylated mucins and calcium inositol hexakisphosphate (InsP6) deposits, impacts inflammation induced by the LL as a whole. In this work, we show that LL particles injected intraperitoneally cause infiltration of eosinophils, neutrophils and monocytes/macrophages as well as the disappearance of resident (large peritoneal) macrophages. Strikingly, the absence of calcium InsP6 enhanced the recruitment of all the inflammatory cell types analysed. In contrast, oxidation of the mucin carbohydrates caused decreased recruitment of neutrophils. The carbohydrate-oxidised particles caused cell influx nonetheless, which may be explained by possible receptor-independent effects of LL particles on innate immune cells, as suggested by previous works from our group. In summary, LL particles can induce acute inflammatory cell recruitment partly dependent on its mucin glycans, and this recruitment is attenuated by the calcium InsP6 component.

The larval stage of Echinococcus granulosus causes the chronic infection known as cystic echinococcosis, deploying strong inhibitory mechanisms on host immune responses. Using experimental intraperitoneal infection in C57BL/6 mice, we carried out an in-depth analysis of the local changes in macrophage populations associated with chronic infection. In addition, we analyzed T cells and relevant soluble mediators. Infected animals showed an increase in local cell numbers, mostly accounted for by eosinophils, T cells, and macrophages. Within macrophage populations, the largest increases in cell numbers corresponded to resident large peritoneal macrophages (LPM). Monocyte recruitment appeared to be active, as judged by the increased number of monocytes and cells in the process of differentiation towards LPM, including small (SPM) and converting peritoneal macrophages (CPM). In contrast, we found no evidence of macrophage proliferation. Infection induced the expression of M2 markers in SPM, CPM, and LPM. It also enhanced the expression of the co-inhibitor PD-L1 in LPM, SPM, and CPM and induced the co-inhibitor PD-L2 in SPM and CPM. Therefore, local macrophages acquire M2-like phenotypes with probable suppressive capacities. Regarding T cells, infection induced an increase in the percentage of CD4+ cells that are PD-1+, which represent a potential target of suppression by PD-L1+/PD-L2+ macrophages. In possible agreement, CD4+ T cells from infected animals showed blunted proliferative responses to in vitro stimulation with anti-CD3. Further evidence of immune suppression in the parasite vicinity arose from the observation of an expansion in FoxP3+ CD4+ regulatory T cells and increases in the local concentrations of the anti-inflammatory cytokines TGF-ß and IL-1Ra.

Inspiratory muscle training (IMT) has been used in different sports, although there is no consensus on its benefits. We investigated the effects of eight weeks of IMT in women's handball. Twenty-four players were randomly distributed into experimental (EXP; n = 13) and control (CON; n = 11) groups. Only the EXP group performed IMT using the POWERBreathe device, following indications of the manufacturers. Before and after the intervention, spirometric variables were evaluated at rest and during a graded test using direct analysis of respiratory gases. Perception of exertion at submaximal intensity was also determined. No significant differences were observed post- vs. pre-intervention (p ≥ 0.05) regarding forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in the 1st second (VEF1), FVC/VEF1, maximal expiratory flow at 50% of FVC or peak inspiratory flow. Post-intervention, only the CON group increased their absolute and relative VO2max (2.1 ± 0.2 L/min pre vs. 2.2 ± 0.3 L/min post; 33.6 ± 3.6 ml/kg∙min pre vs. 34.5 ± 3.2 ml/kg∙min post, respectively). No significant improvements (p ≥ 0.05) were observed in VO2 associated with ventilatory threshold 1 (VT1), nor in the intensity associated with VO2max and VT1. However, there was a tendency for the mentioned variables to decrease in the CON group, while in the EXP group the trend was to maintain or increase previous values. IMT did not determine an improvement in the perception of exertion at submaximal intensity. The use of POWERBreathe, as described in the present study, is feasible in terms of time and effort, although its benefits may not be significant.

Aedes aegypti mosquitoes are the main vector of human arbovirosis in tropical and subtropical areas. Their adaptation to urban and rural environments generates infestations inside households. Therefore, entomological surveillance associated with spatio-temporal analysis is an innovative approach for vector control and dengue management. Here, our main aim was to inspect immature pupal stages in households belonging to municipalities at high risk of dengue in Cauca, Colombia, by implementing entomological indices and relating how they influence adult mosquitos' density. We provide novel data for the geographical distribution of 3,806 immature pupal stages of Ae. aegypti. We also report entomological indices and spatial characterization. Our results suggest that, for Ae. aegypti species, pupal productivity generates high densities of adult mosquitos in neighbouring households, evidencing seasonal behaviour. Our dataset is essential as it provides an innovative strategy for mitigating vector-borne diseases using vector spatial patterns. It also delineates the association between these vector spatial patterns, entomological indicators, and breeding sites in high-risk neighbourhoods.

This study used the geostatistical Kriging methodology to reduce the spatial scale of a host of daily meteorological variables in the Department of Cauca (Colombia), namely, total precipitation and maximum, minimum, and average temperature. The objective was to supply a high-resolution database from 01/01/2015 to 31/12/2021 in order to support the climate component in a project led by the National Institute of Health (INS) named "Spatial Stratification of dengue based on the identification of risk factors: a pilot study in the Department of Cauca". The scaling process was applied to available databases from satellite information and reanalysis sources, specifically, CHIRPS (Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station Data), ERA5-Land (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts), and MSWX (Multi-Source Weather). The 0.1° resolution offered by both the MSWX and ERA5-Land databases and the 0.05° resolution found in CHIRPS, was successfully reduced to a scale of 0.01° across all variables. Statistical metrics such as Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Person Correlation Coefficient (r), and Mean Bias Error (MBE) were used to select the database that best estimated each variable. As a result, it was determined that the scaled ERA5-Land database yielded the best performance for precipitation and minimum daily temperature. On the other hand, the scaled MSWX database showed the best behavior for the other two variables of maximum temperature and daily average temperature. Additionally, using the scaled meteorological databases improved the performance of the regression models implemented by the INS for constructing a dengue early warning system.

Cystic echinococcosis is caused by the larval stages (hydatids) of cestode parasites belonging to the species cluster Echinococcus granulosus sensu lato, with E. granulosus sensu stricto being the main infecting species. Hydatids are bladderlike structures that attain large sizes within various internal organs of livestock ungulates and humans. Hydatids are protected by the massive acellular laminated layer (LL), composed mainly of mucins. Parasite growth requires LL turnover, and abundant LL-derived particles are found at infection sites in infected humans, raising the question of how LL materials are dealt with by the hosts. In this article, we show that E. granulosus sensu stricto LL mucins injected into mice are taken up by Kupffer cells, the liver macrophages exposed to the vascular space. This uptake is largely dependent on the intact mucin glycans and on Clec4F, a C-type lectin receptor which, in rodents, is selectively expressed in Kupffer cells. This uptake mechanism operates on mucins injected both in soluble form intravenously (i.v.) and in particulate form intraperitoneally (i.p.). In mice harboring intraperitoneal infections by the same species, LL mucins were found essentially only at the infection site and in the liver, where they were taken up by Kupffer cells via Clec4F. Therefore, shed LL materials circulate in the host, and Kupffer cells can act as a sink for these materials, even when the parasite grows in sites other than the liver.

Shoulder pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal conditions, and for people over 40 years old, it represents the musculoskeletal pain with the greatest impact on quality of life. Psychological factors, such as fear-avoidance beliefs, are associated with musculoskeletal pain, and several studies suggest that they can influence various treatment outcomes. Our objective was to explore the cross-sectional association between fear-avoidance beliefs and shoulder pain intensity and disability in subjects with chronic shoulder pain. A cross-sectional study was conducted, and 208 participants with chronic unilateral subacromial shoulder pain were recruited. The shoulder pain and disability index assessed pain intensity and disability. The Spanish fear-avoidance components scale assessed the presence of fear-avoidance beliefs. The association between fear-avoidance beliefs and pain intensity and disability was analyzed by means of multiple linear regression models and proportional odds models, reporting odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals. Shoulder and pain disability scores were significantly associated with fear-avoidance beliefs (p < 0.0001, adjusted R-square 0.93, multiple linear regression). There was no evidence of an association between sex and age in this study. The regression coefficient for shoulder pain intensity and disability score was 0.67446. The proportional odds model showed an odds ratio of 1.39 (1.29-1.50) for shoulder pain intensity and disability total score. This study suggests that greater levels of fear-avoidance beliefs are associated with greater levels of shoulder pain and disability in adults with chronic shoulder pain.

The larval stages of the cestode parasites belonging to the genus Echinococcus grow within internal organs of humans and a range of animal species. The resulting diseases, collectively termed echinococcoses, include major neglected tropical diseases of humans and livestock. Echinococcus larvae are outwardly protected by the laminated layer (LL), an acellular structure that is unique to this genus. The LL is based on a fibrillar meshwork made up of mucins, which are decorated by galactose-rich O-glycans. In addition, in the species cluster termed E. granulosus sensu lato, the LL features nano-deposits of the calcium salt of myo-inositol hexakisphosphate (Insp6). The main purpose of our article is to update the immunobiology of the LL. Major recent advances in this area are (i) the demonstration of LL "debris" at the infection site and draining lymph nodes, (ii) the characterization of the decoy activity of calcium Insp6 with respect to complement, (iii) the evidence that the LL mucin carbohydrates interact specifically with a lectin receptor expressed in Kupffer cells (Clec4F), and (iv) the characterization of what appear to be receptor-independent effects of LL particles on dendritic cells and macrophages. Much information is missing on the immunology of this intriguing structure: we discuss gaps in knowledge and propose possible avenues for research.

Extreme temperature and precipitation events are the primary triggers of hazards, such as heat waves, droughts, floods, and landslides, with localized impacts. In this sense, the finer grids of Earth System models (ESMs) could play an essential role in better estimating extreme climate events. The performance of High Resolution Model Intercomparison Project (HighResMIP) models is evaluated using the Expert Team on Climate Change Detection and Indices (ETCCDI) over the 1981-2014 period and future changes (2021-2050) under Shared Socioeconomic Pathway SSP5-8.5, over ten regions in Latin America and the Caribbean. The impact of increasing the horizontal resolution in estimating extreme climate variability on a regional scale is first compared against reference gridded datasets, including reanalysis, satellite, and merging products. We used three different groups based on the resolution of the model's grid (sg): (i) low (0.8° ≤ sg ≤ 1.87°), (ii) intermediate (0.5° ≤ sg ≤ 0.7°), and (iii) high (0.23° ≥ sg ≤ 0.35°). Our analysis indicates that there was no clear evidence to support the posit that increasing horizontal resolution improves model performance. The ECMWF-IFS family of models appears to be a plausible choice to represent climate extremes, followed by the ensemble mean of HighResMIP in their intermediate resolution. For future climate, the projections indicate a consensus of temperature and precipitation climate extremes increase across most of the ten regions. Despite the uncertainties presented in this study, climate models have been and will continue to be an important tool for assessing risk in the face of extreme events. The Culicidae family has two of the most important disease vector genus: Aedes spp. and Culex spp. Both of these are involved in the transmission of arboviruses. Here, we provide novel data for the geographical distribution of 2,383 specimens in the Culicidae family. We also report the percentage of houses infested with these vectors, and Shannon and Simpson diversity indices in three municipalities located in Cauca, Colombia. This dataset is relevant for research on vector-borne diseases because Aedes spp. can transmit arboviruses such as dengue, Zika and chikungunya, and Culex spp. is a well-known vector of West Nile virus and Venezuelan equine encephalitis.

Changes observed in the current climate and projected for the future significantly concern researchers, decision-makers, and the general public. Climate indices of extreme rainfall events are a trend assessment tool to detect climate variability and change signals, which have an average reliability at least in the short term and given climatic inertia. This paper shows 12 climate indices of extreme rainfall events for annual and seasonal scales for 12 climate stations between 1969 to 2019 in the Metropolitan area of Cali (southwestern Colombia). The construction of the indices starts from daily rainfall time series, which although have between 0.5% and 5.4% of missing data, can affect the estimation of the indices. Here, we propose a methodology to complete missing data of the extreme event indices that model the peaks in the time series. This methodology uses an artificial neural network approach known as Non-Linear Principal Component Analysis (NLPCA). The approach reconstructs the time series by modulating the extreme values of the indices, a fundamental feature when evaluating extreme rainfall events in a region. The accuracy in the indices estimation shows values close to 1 in the Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and in the Bi-weighting Correlation. Moreover, values close to 0 in the percent bias and RMSE-observations standard deviation ratio. The database provided here is an essential input in future evaluation studies of extreme rainfall events in the Metropolitan area of Cali, the third most crucial urban conglomerate in Colombia with more than 3.9 million inhabitants.

The genus Echinococcus of cestode parasites includes important pathogens of humans and livestock animals. Transcriptomic and genomic studies on E. granulosus and E. multilocularis uncovered striking expansion of monodomain Kunitz proteins. This expansion is accompanied by the specialization of some family members away from the ancestral protease inhibition function to fulfill cation channel blockade functions. Since cation channels are involved in immune processes, we tested the effects on macrophage physiology of two E. granulosus Kunitz-type inhibitors of voltage-activated cation channels (Kv) that are close paralogs. Both inhibitors, EgKU-1 and EgKU-4, inhibited production of the Th1/Th17 cytokine subunit IL-12/23p40 by macrophages stimulated with the TLR4 agonist LPS. In addition, EgKU-4 but not EgKU-1 inhibited production of the inflammatory cytokine IL-6. These activities were not displayed by EgKU-3, a family member that is a protease inhibitor without known activity on cation channels. EgKU-4 potently inhibited macrophage proliferation in response to M-CSF, whereas EgKU-1 displayed similar activity but with much lower potency, similar to EgKU-3. We discuss structural differences, including a heavily cationic C-terminal extension present in EgKU-4 but not in EgKU-1, that may explain the differential activities of the two close paralogs.

Resumo Este artigo resulta de pesquisa que se dedicou ao estudo comparado das políticas esportivas de Brasil e Espanha. Teve como como objetivo principal analisar - de forma comparativa - a legislação esportiva de ambos os países após a constitucionalização do direito ao esporte. Adotando os procedimentos de estudos comparados e a técnica de pesquisa de análise de conteúdo, foram estudadas as legislações infraconstitucionais de Brasil e Espanha que regulamentam o setor esportivo. As análises demonstram: (i) a constituição de uma arquitetura híbrida de gestão da política esportiva, que combina ação tutelar do Estado com autonomização/liberalização do setor privado; (ii) o estímulo à criação de entidades cuja natureza jurídica alinha-se à perspectiva empresarial; (iii) a diversificação de fontes de financiamento ao esporte, em especial o de alto rendimento, mais atrativo ao mercado devido ao potencial de impulsionar a atividade comercial.


Abstract This article is the result of a comparative study on sports policies in Brazil and Spain. Its main objective was to analyze - comparatively - the sports legislation from both countries after the right to sports entered their Constitutions. By following procedures from comparative studies and content analysis research techniques, we studied Brazil's and Spain's infra-constitutional laws regulating the sports sector. The analyses show: (i) the establishment of a hybrid sports policy management architecture combining tutelary action by the State with autonomy/liberalization of the private sector; (ii) encouragement towards creation of entities whose legal nature is aligned with a business perspective; (iii) diversification of funding sources for sports, especially for high-performance sports, which are more attractive to the market due to their potential to boost commercial activities.


Resumen Este artículo es el resultado de una investigación dedicada al estudio comparativo de las políticas deportivas en Brasil y España. Su objetivo principal era analizar, comparativamente, la legislación deportiva de ambos países después de la constitucionalización del derecho al deporte. Adoptando los procedimientos de estudios comparativos y la técnica de investigación de análisis de contenido, se estudiaron las leyes infraconstitucionales de Brasil y España que regulan el sector deportivo. Los análisis demuestran: (i) la constitución de una arquitectura híbrida de gestión de políticas deportivas, que combina la acción tutelar del Estado con la autonomía / liberalización del sector privado; (ii) alentar la creación de entidades cuya naturaleza jurídica esté alineada con la perspectiva comercial; (iii) la diversificación de las fuentes de financiamiento para el deporte, especialmente los de altos ingresos, más atractivos para el mercado debido al potencial para impulsar la actividad comercial.

OBJECTIVE: To describe chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) treatment patterns and patient outcomes in Latin America. METHODS: This chart review study (NCT02559583; 2008-2015)evaluated time to progression (TTP) and overall survival (OS) outcomes among patients with CLL who initiate done (n = 261) to two (n = 96) lines of therapy (LOT) since diagnosis. Differences in TTP and OS were assessed by Kaplan-Meier analysis, with a log-rank test for statistical significance. Association between therapeutic regimen and risk for disease progression or death was estimated using Cox proportional hazard regression. RESULTS: The most commonly prescribed therapies in both LOTs were chlorambucil-, followed by fludarabine- and cyclophosphamide (C)/CHOP-based therapies. Chlorambucil- and C/CHOP-based therapies were largely prescribed to elderly patients (≥65 years) while fludarabine-based therapy was predominantly used by younger patients (≤65 years). In LOT1, relative to chlorambucil-administered patients, those prescribed fludarabine-based therapies had lower risk of disease progression (hazard ratio [HR] and 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.32 [0.19-0.54]), whereas C/CHOP-prescribed patients had higher risk (HR 95%CI 1.88 [1.17-3.04]). Similar results were observed in LOT2. There was no difference in OS between treatments in both LOTs. DISCUSSION: Novel therapies such as kinase inhibitors were rarely prescribed in LOT1 or LOT2in Latin America. The greater TTP observed forfludarabine-based therapies could be attributed to the fact that fludarabine-based therapies are predominantly administered to young and healthy patients. CONCLUSION: Chlorambucil-based therapy, which has limited benefits, is frequently prescribed in Latin America. Prescribing novel agents for fludarabine-based therapy-ineligible patients with CLL is the need of the hour. Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02559583.

Material y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo de una serie de casos basado en la revisión de las historias clínicas de los pacientes con tumor tiroideo sometidos a tiroidectomía endoscópica transaxilar sin insuflación de CO entre noviembre 2014 y marzo 2017, en instituciones públicas y privadas del sistema nacional de salud de la ciudad de Lima. Resultados: Se realizaron 24 tiroidectomías endoscópicas, de las cuales 15 fueron hemitiroidectomia, 8 tiroidectomía total y una tiroidectomía subtotal. El tiempo operatorio promedio fue de 193,8 minutos. Las complicaciones más frecuentes fueron el hematoma postoperatorio (12,5%) seguido de la hipocalcemia transitoria (8,3%); ningún caso presentó lesión del plexo braquial. Conclusiones: La tiroidectomía endoscópica por vía transaxilar es un procedimiento seguro, factible de realizar en instituciones de salud que cuenten con el equipamiento de cirugía video endoscópica, que podría indicarse en determinados pacientes.


SUMMARY Objective: To describe the results of transaxillary endoscopic surgery of the thyroid gland without insufflating CO2 in Peru. Methods: A retrospective case series based of chart review of patients with thyroid cancer undergoing transaxillary endoscopic surgery of the thyroid gland without insufflating CO2 from November 2014 to March 2017 in public and private institutions in Lima. Results: 24 transaxillary endoscopic procedures were performed, 15 of which were hemithyroidectomies, 8 were total thyroidectomies and one subtotal thyroidectomy. Mean operating time was 193.8 minutes. The most common complication was post operatory hematoma (12.5%) followed by transient hypocalcemia (8.3%), no lesions of the brachial plexus were observed. Conclusions: Transaxillary endoscopic surgery of the thyroid gland is a safe and feasible procedure to be performed in equipped centers.

Extreme climatic events and their hazards have strong impact on society. Urban areas in Brazil are especially vulnerable to the impact of such events due to their rapid growth and inappropriate infrastructure. Viçosa is a mid-sized city in Southeastern Brazil that has been experiencing issues associated with urban expansion and population growth since the 1960s. Thus, this study aims to identify patterns of extreme climate events in Viçosa based on daily temperature and precipitation time series (1968-2017). Homogeneity tests were carried out in order to identify breaking points in these climate variables. Climate trends were analyzed through Mann-Kendall test and their magnitude was checked based on Sen's slope. Results have evidenced statistically significant and increasing trends in annual minimum temperature since the 1990s. Moreover, statistically significant breaking points in extreme temperature indices have shown increasing number of warm days, and decreasing number of cold nights, in both annual and seasonal analyses. Extreme climatic events have been observed more often in recent years, mainly in the number of consecutive dry days and maximum and heavy precipitation days. Based on results, Viçosa experiences warmer conditions throughout the year, whereas more (less) torrential rainfall events have been occurring during Summer (Winter).

RESUMEN

The interaction of dendritic cells and macrophages with a variety of rigid noncellular particles triggers activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and consequent secretion of interleukin 1ß (IL-1ß). Noncellular particles can also be generated in the context of helminth infection, since these large pathogens often shed their outermost structures during growth and/or molting. One such structure is the massive, mucin-based, soft, flexible laminated layer (LL), which protects the larval stages of cestodes of the genus Echinococcus We show that particles from the Echinococcus granulosus LL (pLL) trigger NLRP3- and caspase-1-dependent IL-1ß in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-primed mouse bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDC). This response can be elicited by pLL too large for phagocytosis and nonetheless requires actin dynamics, Syk, and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K). These three requirements had already been observed in our previous study on the alteration by pLL of CD86, CD40, IL-10, and IL-12 responses to LPS in BMDC; however, we now show that these alterations are independent of NLRP3 and caspase-1. In other words, an initial interaction with particles requiring actin dynamics, Syk, and PI3K, but not phagocytosis, elicits both NLRP3-dependent and NLRP3-independent responses. Intraperitoneal injection of pLL induced IL-1ß, suggesting that contact with LL materials induces IL-1ß in the E. granulosus infection setting. Our results extend our understanding of NLRP3 inflammasome activation by noncellular particulate materials both to helminth-derived materials and to flexible/soft materials.

INTRODUCTION: This study aims to describe the psychomotor development of children, the offspring of Chilean and Haitian parents, and who attend the local kindergartens. METHODS: The design of this study was a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The study population was children 3 to 24 months-old, belonging to kindergartens, evaluated with the Psychomotor Development Assessment Scale (EEDP) regarding psychomotor development profile for the domains of language, socialization, coordination, and motor skills. A questionnaire was administered to the parents to determine the socioeconomic level, educational level, and parenting skills. RESULTS: Twenty-four infants, 12 children of Chilean parents, and 12 children of Haitian parents were evaluated. The EEDP classification (p = 0.299) did not show significant differences between both groups. In children of Chilean parents, 25% (3/12) classified as delay, while 75% (9/12) as normal. On the other hand, for children of Haitian parents, 8.3% (1/12) classified as risk, while 91.7% (11/12) as normal. There are significant differences in coordination (p = 0.006), in which Haitian children achieved better performance compared to the Chilean. CONCLUSIONS: It is necessary to emphasize every domain of infant psychomotor development and the multiple sociocultural variables that can influence this. Current evaluation methods do not presently have an intercultural character.


INTRODUCCIÓN: El objetivo de este estudio es describir el desarrollo psicomotor en niños y niñas de padres chilenos y haitianos de tres a 24 meses, pertenecientes a jardines infantiles. MÉTODO: El diseño del estudio fue descriptivo y transversal. Se evaluaron niños y niñas de tres a 24 meses de edad pertenecientes a jardines infantiles, mediante la Escala de Evaluación del Desarrollo Psicomotor (EEDP) y su perfil de desarrollo psicomotor para las áreas de lenguaje, social, coordinación y motor. Además, se administró un cuestionario dirigido a los padres para conocer su nivel socioeconómico, nivel educacional y aspectos de crianza. RESULTADOS: Se evaluaron un total de 24 infantes, 12 niños y niñas de padres chilenos y 12 de padres haitianos. La clasificación Escala de Evaluación del Desarrollo Psicomotor no mostró diferencias significativas entre ambos grupos (p = 0,299). En los párvulos de padres chilenos, 25% (3/12) clasificó como retraso, mientras que 75% (9/12) lo resultó normal. Por otro lado, en niños y niñas de padres haitianos, 8,3% (1/12) clasificó como riesgo, mientras que 91,7% (11/12) como normal. Existen diferencias significativas en el área de coordinación (p = 0,006), en la cual las y los menores de etnia haitiana lograron un mejor desempeño. CONCLUSIONES: Es necesario reforzar en cada una de las áreas del desarrollo psicomotor del infante y las múltiples variables socioculturales que pueden influir en este, debido a que los métodos de evaluación que se utilizan actualmente no presentan un carácter intercultural.

Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo analisar o processo de implementação de instalações esportivas na Espanha, com um olhar mais aprofundado sobre as instalações públicas de esporte de Sevilha, tendo por base a relação público-privado na gestão daquelas. O estudo foi desenvolvido a partir de uma pesquisa documental e teórica em autores espanhóis, tendo um caráter quantitativo e qualitativo. Foi possível perceber que houve diminuição do crescimento da construção de instalações esportivas na Espanha, tendo ocorrido uma descentralização da gestão em direção a administração local e as empresas privadas. No âmbito da cidade de Sevilha identificamos que não houve crescimento da quantidade de instalações esportivas, sendo que os diferentes modelos de gestão (direta, social e privada) apresentam instalações, atividades e sociabilidades diferentes.


This research aimed to analyze the process of implementation of sports facilities in Spain, with a more in-depth look at the public sports facilities of Seville, based on the public-private relationship in the management of those facilities. The study was developed from a documentary and theoretical research in Spanish authors, having a quantitative and qualitative character. It was possible to notice that there was a decrease in the growth of the construction of sports facilities in Spain, with a decentralization of management towards the local administration and private companies. In the city of Seville we identified that there was no increase in the number of sports facilities, and the different management models (direct, social and private) present different facilities, activities and sociabilities.
