RESUMEN

The interfacial instability of the poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-based electrolytes impedes the long-term cycling and further application of all-solid-state lithium metal batteries. In this work, we have shown an effective additive 1-adamantanecarbonitrile, which contributes to the excellent performance of the poly(ethylene oxide)-based electrolytes. Owing to the strong interaction of the 1-Adamantanecarbonitrile to the polymer matrix and anions, the coordination of the Li+-EO is weakened, and the binding effect of anions is strengthened, thereby improving the Li+ conductivity and the electrochemical stability. The diamond building block on the surface of the lithium anode can suppress the growth of lithium dendrites. Importantly, the 1-Adamantanecarbonitrile also regulates the formation of LiF in the solid electrolyte interface and cathode electrolyte interface, which contributes to the interfacial stability (especially at high voltages) and protects the electrodes, enabling all-solid-state batteries to cycle at high voltages for long periods of time. Therefore, the Li/Li symmetric cell undergoes long-term lithium plating/stripping for more than 2000 h. 1-Adamantanecarbonitrile-poly(ethylene oxide)-based LFP/Li and 4.3 V Ni0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2/Li all-solid-state batteries achieved stable cycles for 1000 times, with capacity retention rates reaching 85% and 80%, respectively.

RESUMEN

Next-generation sequencing technology has enabled the identification of fusion partners of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) in non-small cell lung cancer, and various ALK fusion partners have been confirmed. Here, a novel rhabdomyosarcoma 2-associated transcript (RMST)-ALK rearrangement was identified in an 80-year-old Chinese man with advanced lung adenocarcinoma. The patient was prescribed ceritinib and achieved a partial response, which has been sustained for more than 18 months. This is the first report of the RMST-ALK rearrangement, and we showed that a patient with lung adenocarcinoma carrying this rearrangement can benefit from ceritinib treatment; therefore, this is a significant finding in clinical practice.

RESUMEN

Patients with non-small cell lung cancer harboring the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-sensitive mutations are known to benefit significantly from EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), such as erlotinib, gefitinib, icotinib, or afatinib. However, the efficacy of EGFR-TKIs against rare mutations has not yet been well investigated. Here, we report a female patient with advanced lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), carrying a rare mutation of EGFR Exon19 E746_L747delinsIP, who was administered first-generation EGFR-TKIs as the first-line treatment. The patient continued to progress slowly until peritoneal metastases have occurred. Subsequently, the patient was treated with anlotinib for 5 months until disease progression. Given the finding of the same EGFR rare mutation in peritoneal effusion without other EGFR-TKI resistance mutations, the patient received afatinib with a tremendous response. Our results may be of clinical relevance for patients with LUAD carrying this rare mutation, and these findings warrant further investigation.

RESUMEN

Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is the most common disease of oral mucosa, which almost attacks each individual once in their lifespan. Although plenty of factors have been suggested to play a role in the pathogenesis of RAS, the aetiology of RAS is still controversial, which might lead to limited clinical therapies in accordance with each RAS patient. This review mainly illustrates recent advances in potential causes associated with RAS in detail. Deeper comprehension of the aetiology of RAS will support doctors and researchers to make a better management of RAS patients and to discover new treatments. The aetiology of RAS is complicated, hence we should take a comprehensive view into its aetiology, with multiple potential factors being considered. Sample collection of RAS patients have greatly limited the progress in the aetiology of RAS. A research model of multiagency cooperation can help achieve perfect sample collection of year-round and multiposition.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the BRCA status in Chinese patients with ovarian cancer (OC). Though there were two large prevalence studies in Chinese OC patients, this was the first time to observe it in healthy controls. METHODS: We performed BRCA mutation screening using next-generation sequencing to determine the prevalence of BRCA germline deleterious mutations in an unselected cohort of Chinese OC patients (n = 1331) versus healthy controls (n = 1763) and describe the types and spectrum of BRCA deleterious variants. RESULTS: Among the 1331 patients with OC, 227 (17.1%) carried deleterious variants in BRCA1 and 70 (5.3%) carried deleterious variants in BRCA2. Of 1763 control subjects, 6 (0.3%) and 2 (0.1%) had deleterious variants in BRCA1 and BRCA2. No patient carried mutations in both BRCA1 and BRCA2 simultaneously. Sixty-three novel mutations were identified, and three Chinese specific hot-spot mutations were notified as BRCA1 c.5470_5477delATTGGGCA, BRCA1 c.981_982delAT, and BRCA1 c.3770_3771delAG. Interestingly, all these high-frequency recurrent mutations were distributed on exon 10, which may also be the Chinese OC BRCA mutations' distinct characteristics. In addition, in our study, the estimated odds ratio (OR) of OC associated with BRCA1 positive variants were approximately 34.6 (95% CI, 12.5-95.7) in age group under 40 and 42.4 (95% CI, 5.9-305.2) in group older than 50 in the Chinese population, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: We recommend BRCA testing to all Chinese OC patients and those general Chinese who have family members with hereditary breast and ovarian related cancer (HBOC)-related cancers. Variants carriers would not only benefit from early prevention of OC but also for the medical management.
