RESUMEN

Constructing a three-dimensional (3D) structure along with Zn (002) texture selective exposure is a promising strategy to tackle the issues faced by Zn metal anodes. Herein, for the first time, we proposed an electrochemical stripping strategy to achieve controlled modification of the texture and microstructure of zinc foils in one step, building a hierarchical structure with (002) texture preferred exposed Zn (SZ). The SZ with favorable zincophilic properties not only can reduce the concentration polarization at the interface but also allow Zn to grow horizontally on the edge of the (002) texture by guiding the adsorption sites for Zn2+. Moreover, the honeycomb-like structure is beneficial to rearrange the distribution of the Zn2+ flux as well as alleviating stress changes during cycling. Thus, the SZ||Cu cell exhibits excellent stability with a Coulombic efficiency of 99.76% over 1800 cycles. The SZ||NaV3O8·xH2O cell with inconspicuous self-discharge effect maintains a high areal capacity of 3.67 mA h cm-2 even after 700 cycles with a low N/P ratio of 3.6. This work achieves texture architecture and structure designing on Zn foils simultaneously by metallurgical electrochemical methods and opens up a potential strategy to implement the practicality of zinc metal anodes.

RESUMEN

Here, a Cu2+-doped lignin-based adsorbent (Cu-AL) was fabricated via the amination and Cu2+-doping of industrial alkali lignin for massive and selective adsorption of cationic dyes azure B (AB) and saffron T (ST). The Cu-N coordination structures endowed Cu-AL with stronger electronegativity and higher dispersity. Through the electrostatic attraction, π-π interaction, H-bonding, and Cu2+ coordination, the adsorption capacities of AB and ST reached up to 1168 and 1420 mg g-1, respectively. The pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir isotherm model were more relevant to the AB and ST adsorption on Cu-AL. Based on the thermodynamic study, the adsorption progresses were endothermic, spontaneous, and feasible. The Cu-AL maintained high removal efficiency to dyes after 4 reuses (>80%). Importantly, the Cu-AL could efficiently remove and separate AB and ST from dye mixtures even in real time. All the above characteristics demonstrated that Cu-AL was an excellent adsorbent for fast wastewater treatment.

RESUMEN

Transmitting waveform design and signal processing method optimization are effective ways to improve a sonar system's detection performance. In this study, the spectrum and ambiguity function characteristics of pulse trains of frequency modulation (PTFM) signals were deduced and analyzed to address the problem of serious reverberation interference in the detection of low-speed targets in shallow water environments. The action mechanisms of PTFM signal parameters on the comb spectrum and bed of nails ambiguity function were identified. PTFM signal parameters were designed according to reverberation suppression requirements. The threshold was calculated using the estimate-before-detect method, and the comb spectrum waveform cognitive filtering detection algorithm is proposed. The simulation and lake experimental results show that the PTFM signals' reverberation suppression ability for low-speed targets was better than it was for stationary or high-speed targets. The proposed method has good universality, which can improve the output signal-to-reverberation ratio (SRR) by more than 6 dB.

RESUMEN

Background: Almost 40% of patients with kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) with advanced cancers eventually develop to metastases, and their 5-year survival rates are approximately 10%. Aberrant DNA methylations are significantly associated with the development of KIRC. The aim of our present study was to identify suitable ferroptosis- and immune-related (FI) biomarkers correlated with aberrant methylations to improve the prognosis and diagnosis of KIRC. Methods: ChAMP and DESeq2 in R (3.6.2) were used to screen the differentially expressed methylation probes and differentially expressed genes, respectively. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression were used to identify the overall survival (OS)-related biomarkers. Results: We finally identified five FI biomarkers (CCR4, CMTM3, IFITM1, MX2, and NR3C2) that were independently correlated with the OS of KIRC. The area under the curve value of the receiver operating characteristic value of prognosis model was 0.74, 0.68, and 0.72 in the training, validation, and entire cohorts, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of the diagnosis model were 0.8698 and 0.9722, respectively. In addition, the prognosis model was also significantly correlated with several immune cells and factors. Conclusion: Our present study suggested that these five FI-DEGs (CCR4, CMTM3, IFITM1, MX2, and NR3C2) could be used as prognosis and diagnosis biomarkers for patients with KIRC, but further cross-validation clinical studies are still needed to confirm them.

RESUMEN

Rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) are promising systems for energy storage due to their operational safety, low cost, and environmental friendliness. However, the development of suitable cathode materials is plagued by the sluggish dynamics of Zn2+ with strong electrostatic interaction. Herein, an Al3+-doped tremella-like layered Al0.15V2O5·1.01H2O (A-VOH) cathode material with a large pore diameter and high specific surface area is demonstrated to greatly boost electrochemical performance as ZIB cathodes. Resultant ZIBs with a 3 M Zn(CF3SO3)2 electrolyte deliver a high specific discharge capacity of 510.5 mAh g-1 (0.05 A g-1), and an excellent energy storage performance is well maintained with a specific capacity of 144 mAh g-1 (10 A g-1) even after ultralong 10,000 cycles. The decent electrochemical performance roots in the novel tremella-like structure and the interlayer of Al3+ ions and water molecules, which could improve the electrochemical reaction kinetics and structural long cycle stability. Furthermore, the assembled coin-type cells could power a light-emitting diode (LED) lamp for 2 days. We believed that the design philosophy of unique morphology with abundant active sites for Zn2+ storage will boost the development of competitive cathodes for high-performance aqueous batteries.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Blood glucose control is closely related to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) prognosis. This multicenter study aimed to investigate blood glucose control among patients with insulin-treated T2DM in North China and explore the application value of combining an elastic network (EN) with a machine-learning algorithm to predict glycemic control. METHODS: Basic information, biochemical indices, and diabetes-related data were collected via questionnaire from 2787 consecutive participants recruited from 27 centers in six cities between January 2016 and December 2017. An EN regression was used to address variable collinearity. Then, three common machine learning algorithms (random forest [RF], support vector machine [SVM], and back propagation artificial neural network [BP-ANN]) were used to simulate and predict blood glucose status. Additionally, a stepwise logistic regression was performed to compare the machine learning models. RESULTS: The well-controlled blood glucose rate was 45.82% in North China. The multivariable analysis found that hypertension history, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease history, exercise, and total cholesterol were protective factors in glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) control, while central adiposity, family history, T2DM duration, complications, insulin dose, blood pressure, and hypertension were risk factors for elevated HbA1c. Before the dimensional reduction in the EN, the areas under the curve of RF, SVM, and BP were 0.73, 0.61, and 0.70, respectively, while these figures increased to 0.75, 0.72, and 0.72, respectively, after dimensional reduction. Moreover, the EN and machine learning models had higher sensitivity and accuracy than the logistic regression models (the sensitivity and accuracy of logistic were 0.52 and 0.56; RF: 0.79, 0.70; SVM: 0.84, 0.73; BP-ANN: 0.78, 0.73, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: More than half of T2DM patients in North China had poor glycemic control and were at a higher risk of developing diabetic complications. The EN and machine learning algorithms are alternative choices, in addition to the traditional logistic model, for building predictive models of blood glucose control in patients with T2DM.

RESUMEN

Exogenous calcium can enhance the resistance of certain plants to abiotic stress. However, the role of calcium insaltstressed honeysuckle is unclear. The study is aimed to investigate the effects of exogenous calcium on the biomass, chlorophyll content, gas exchange parameters and chlorophyll fluorescence of honeysuckle under salt stress. The results showed that the calcium-treated honeysuckle had better photochemical properties than the salt-stressed honeysuckle, such as PIABS,PItotal, which represents the overall activity of photosystemⅡ(PSⅡ),and related parameters for characterizing electron transport efficiency φP0,ψE0,φE0,σR,and φR are significantly improved. At the same time, the gas exchange parameters Gs,Ci,Trare also maintained at a high level. In summary, exogenous calcium protects the activity of PSⅡ,promotes the transmission of photosynthetic electrons, and maintains a high Ci,therefore enhances the resistance of honeysuckle under salt stress.

RESUMEN

MircroRNA functions as a tumor suppressor or a promoter in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Researchers have found that miR-203 functioned as tumor suppressor in many types of cancer. However, the role of miR-203 that plays in CCA remains to be clarified. We aimed to detect the expression level and the prognostic significance of miR-203 in CCA tissues. qRT-RCR was performed to examine the miR-203 expression levels in CCA tissue specimens and corresponding normal tissues. Our findings suggest that miR-203 expression was an independent poor prognostic factor for CCA patient overall survival. Therefore, miR-203 may serve as a valuable prognostic marker and promising treatment target for CCA.
