RESUMEN

Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DReSS) is known to cause mortality and long-term sequelae in the pediatric population, however there are no established clinical practice guidelines for the management of pediatric DReSS. We conducted a scoping review, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, to summarize the currently available data on treatment, mortality, and long-term sequelae of DReSS in children (aged 0-18 years). Data from 644 individuals revealed that various treatment strategies are being used in the management of pediatric DReSS, and strategies were often used in combination. The diversity in treatment approaches cannot be solely attributed to age or disease severity and reflects the lack of evidence-based management guidelines for DReSS. Children are also at risk of developing autoimmune sequelae following DReSS, most commonly thyroid disease and type 1 diabetes mellitus. We found that the eventual development of autoimmune disease was more often associated with DReSS caused by antibiotics, especially minocycline and sulfamethoxazole, in comparison with individuals who did not develop sequelae. In this study, we identify strengths and weaknesses in the currently available literature and highlight that future prospective studies with structured and long-term follow-up of children with DReSS are needed to better understand potential risk factors for mortality and development of sequelae after DReSS.

We report two cases with localized vascular malformations clinically resembling the "dominant lesion" seen in capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformation (CM-AVM) syndrome, however, lacking germline RASA1 variants but presenting double somatic RASA1 variants in affected tissue. Both patients presented with localized and superficial high-flow vascular malformations were treated with surgery and laser therapy and showed partial resolution. The study underscores the rarity of somatic RASA1 variants, contributes to understanding the "second-hit" pathophysiology in vascular lesions, and emphasizes the significance of clinical distinctions and genotyping for accurate diagnoses, offering implications for diagnosis, prognosis, and genetic counseling.

Effective treatment of drug reactions with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DReSS) requires early diagnosis and close monitoring. Diagnosing DReSS is especially challenging in children due to a low incidence rate, heterogeneous clinical presentation, and a lack of (pediatric) diagnostic criteria and clinical practice guidelines. We performed a scoping review, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, to summarize the clinical presentation and diagnostic process of DReSS in children (aged 0-18 years). Data from 644 individuals showed that DReSS manifests differently in children compared to adults. Children have a higher number of organs involved, including higher rates of cardiac and respiratory involvement compared to adults. Children < 6 years of age appear more prone to develop neurologic symptoms. Conversely, eosinophilia, edema, and kidney involvement are less frequently observed in children. Anti-seizure medications are by far the most common causative drug class, but the range of implicated drugs increases as children get older. This study highlights that children with DReSS not only differ from adults but also that differences exist between children of different ages. As such, there is a need to establish pediatric-specific diagnostic criteria. These efforts will promote earlier diagnosis of DReSS and likely lead to improved clinical care offered to children and their families.

OBJECTIVE: The prevalence and types of psychosocial complications of juvenile localized scleroderma (JLS), also known as morphea, an inflammatory and sclerosing disease involving the skin, fascia, muscle, and bone, are poorly understood. METHODS: We performed a systematic review of literature published between 2000 and 2020 in PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Skin Group Specialized Register, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature using the search terms "scleroderma, localized," "Morphea," "anxiety," "depression," "resilience," "social stigma," "quality of life," "mood," or "stress" and limited the search to pediatric patients and English language. Patient demographics, characteristics of JLS, and comorbidities were extracted. The outcomes included measures of health-related quality of life (HRQoL), psychosocial functioning, evaluation of self-perception, and the treatment burden of the study population. The protocol was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42021257124). Thematic synthesis generated descriptive analysis. RESULTS: Thirteen studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria: three retrospective cohort studies, two prospective cohort studies, and eight cross-sectional studies. A total of 690 pediatric patients with JLS were included (n = 484 with linear scleroderma). Six studies used the Children's Dermatology Life Quality Index, reporting little to no effect on HRQoL. One study used the Health-Related Quality of Life in Children and Adolescents Questionnaire and did not find differences between children with JLS or atopic dermatitis and healthy controls. One study used a self-perception questionnaire that showed normal self-worth of patients with JLS. Two studies used focus groups, both reporting elevated levels of stress, decreased self-worth, "feeling different," and bullying/teasing in patients with JLS. These emotions were associated with skin symptoms (pain, itch, and tightness), physical limitations, and treatment burden. CONCLUSION: Overall, quantitative studies did not report a statistically significant impairment in HRQoL in JLS. However, qualitative studies (focus groups) reported significant psychosocial impacts related to JLS. There is a need to develop a JLS-specific tool for the HRQoL evaluation of this population.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: Stiff skin syndrome (SSS) is a rare disorder characterized by "rock hard" indurated skin affecting different body parts. The localized variant poses a diagnostic challenge, as it is frequently mistaken for other inflammatory connective tissue disorders. The aim of this study is to provide insightful clinical, radiologic and diagnostic data that might prove useful for the evaluation, management and treatment of pediatric patients with segmental SS. METHODS: This single-center cohort study included patients ≤18 years diagnosed with localized SSS from 1988 to 2021 in a quaternary pediatric healthcare center in Toronto, Canada. Data included demographics, clinical, histopathologic and radiologic features, treatments, and clinical course. Data were summarized with descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, medians, interquartile ranges [IQRs]) and frequencies. RESULTS: A total of 11 patients were included. The sclerotic changes were measured clinically and radiologically, by a total of 16 imaging studies: 13 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and 3 ultrasound. MRI readings showed abnormal high signal intensity of the affected tissue correlating with the anatomical site of involvement in all cases, specifically, in the shoulder/pelvic girdle with limb extension. Shear wave ultrasound elastography (SWE) demonstrated higher values within the dermis compared to the control site. CONCLUSION: The presence of segmental sclerotic changes that affects the pelvic/shoulder girdle with extension to the extremities, in the absence of inflammation on biopsy and abnormal signaling intensity on imaging is suggestive of SSS. Skin SWE is a feasible, noninvasive, and objective instrument to evaluate and monitor sclerotic changes overtime, it could be potentially extrapolated to other pediatric skin sclerotic conditions.

Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) is a congenital, sporadic, and rare neurocutaneous disorder, characterized by the presence of a facial port-wine birthmark (PWB), glaucoma, and neurological manifestations including leptomeningeal angiomatosis and seizures. It is caused by a postzygotic, somatic, gain-of-function variant of the GNAQ gene, and more recently, the GNA11 gene in association with distinctive clinical features. Neuroimaging can help identify and stratify patients at risk for significant complications allowing closer follow-up; although no presymptomatic treatment has been demonstrated to be effective to date, these patients could benefit from early treatment and/or supportive interventions. Choroid plexus (CP) thickness measurements in brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have a high sensitivity and specificity for early and incipient changes in SWS. In contrast, the absence of pathologic findings makes it possible to rule out associated neurological involvement and leads to periodical observation, with new imaging studies only in cases of new clinical signs/symptoms. Periodic ophthalmological examination is also recommended every 3 months during the first year and yearly afterwards to monitor for glaucoma and choroidal hemangiomas. Treatment for SWS depends on the extent and areas that are affected. These include laser surgery for PWB, anticonvulsants in the case of brain involvement, with either seizures or abnormal EEG, and medical treatment or surgery for glaucoma. Sirolimus has been used in a limited number of patients and appears to be a safe and potentially effective treatment for cutaneous and extra-cutaneous features, however controlled clinical studies have not been carried out. Better knowledge of GNAQ/GNA11 molecular pathways will help to develop future targeted treatments.

PREMISE: Domestication of plant species results in phenotypic modifications and changes in biotic interactions. Most studies have compared antagonistic plant-herbivore interactions of domesticated plants and their wild relatives, but little attention has been given to how domestication influences plant-pollinator interactions. Floral attributes and interactions of floral visitors were compared between sister taxa of the genus Cucurbita (Cucurbitaceae), the domesticated C. moschata, C. argyrosperma ssp. argyrosperma and its wild progenitor C. argyrosperma ssp. sororia in the place of origin. METHODS: We conducted univariate and multivariate analyses to compare floral morphological traits and analyzed floral reward (nectar and pollen) quantity and quality between flowers of wild and domesticated Cucurbita taxa. Staminate and pistillate flowers of all three taxa were video recorded, and visitation and behavior of floral visitors were registered and analyzed. RESULTS: Most floral morphological characteristics of flowers of domesticated taxa were larger in both staminate and pistillate flowers. Staminate and pistillate flowers presented distinct correlations between floral traits and integration indices between domesticated and wild species. Additionally, pollen quantity and protein to lipid ratio were greater in domesticated species. Cucurbit pollen specialists, Eucera spp., had the highest probability of visit for all Cucurbita taxa. CONCLUSIONS: We provide evidence that floral traits of domesticated and wild Cucurbita species experienced different selection pressures. Domesticated Cucurbita species may have more resources invested towards floral traits, thereby increasing attractiveness to pollinators and potentially plant reproductive success. Wild ancestor plant populations should be conserved in their centers of origin to preserve plant-pollinator interactions.

Resumen Objetivo: Evidenciar la mejora en la autoestima específica docente y del conocimiento integral de los dominios cognitivos de Bloom en los participantes en el curso 2CeQ®, estimados a través del incremento y análisis comparativo en la puntuación obtenida en la Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg (EAR) y ejercicios de evaluación pre y poscurso. Diseño, metodología o aproximación: Estudio analítico comparativo transversal, de datos correspondientes a los valores de las variables (puntuación obtenida) de dos cuestionarios (Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg [EAR] y ejercicios de evaluación pre y poscurso) contestados por los participantes en el curso. Análisis estadístico: frecuencia relativa de ocurrencia, medidas de dispersión y prueba t (p<0.05 fue estadísticamente significativo). Resultados: Se incluyeron 21 individuos. Se observó una mejora significativa en la puntuación de la autoestima específica como docente quirúrgico según la EAR (16.3±5 [7-25] vs 20.9±5.2 [13-30]; p=0.003). En el ejercicio de evaluación, hubo una diferencia estadísticamente significativa en la puntuación pre y poscurso (38.5±14.3 [10.3-70.6] vs 72.4±17 [29.4-88.2]; p=0.006). Limitaciones del estudio o implicaciones: Serie unicéntrica, con limitado número del tamaño de la muestra, lo que impide validar los resultados. Originalidad o valor: Estudio en epistemología educativa quirúrgica nacional, único en su clase. Hallazgos o conclusión: La participación en el Curso "2CeQ Docencia Quirúrgica®" aumenta la autoestima específica para el ejercicio docente y la capacidad técnica para desarrollar el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje, por lo cual puede coadyuvar a elevar la calidad de los programas educativos.


Abstract Objetive: To show improvement in teaching-specific self-esteem and comprehensive knowledge on Bloom's cognitive domains, among participants in 2CeQ® Course, estimated through increase and comparative analysis of pre- and post-course scores obtained from Rosenberg's Self-esteem Scale (RSS) and evaluation-tests. Design, methodology and approximation: Transversal, analytic and comparative study of pre- and post-course values from data corresponding to RSS and evaluation tests scores, answered by participants. Statistics: Occurrence relative frequency, dispersion calculations, and t test (p<0.05 statistically significant). Results: 21 individuals were included. A significant improvement in surgical-teaching self-esteem from RSS (16.3±5 [7-25] vs 20.9±5.2 [13-30]; p=0.003) and a statistically significant difference between pre- and postcourse test's scores (38.5±14.3 [10.3-70.6] vs 72.4±17 [29.4-88.2]; p=0.006 were observed). Limitations and implications of study: Unicentric series and a limited sample, avoiding the validation of results. Originality or value: Study on national surgical education epistemology, one of a kind. Findings and conclusion: Participation in "2CeQ" Course increases specific self-esteem for teaching and technical ability to develop teaching and learning process, helping to optimize the quality of educational programs.

BACKGROUND: Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is a clinical diagnosis where patients exhibit three out of the five risk factors: hypertriglyceridemia, low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, hyperglycemia, elevated blood pressure, or increased abdominal obesity. MetS arises due to dysregulated metabolic pathways that culminate with insulin resistance and put individuals at risk to develop various comorbidities with far-reaching medical consequences such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and cardiovascular disease. As it stands, the exact pathogenesis of MetS as well as the involvement of the gastrointestinal tract in MetS is not fully understood. Our study aimed to evaluate intestinal health in human subjects with MetS. METHODS: We examined MetS risk factors in individuals through body measurements and clinical and biochemical blood analysis. To evaluate intestinal health, gut inflammation was measured by fecal calprotectin, intestinal permeability through the lactulose-mannitol test, and utilized fecal metabolomics to examine alterations in the host-microbiota gut metabolism. RESULTS: No signs of intestinal inflammation or increased intestinal permeability were observed in the MetS group compared to our control group. However, we found a significant increase in 417 lipid features of the gut lipidome in our MetS cohort. An identified fecal lipid, diacyl-glycerophosphocholine, showed a strong correlation with several MetS risk factors. Although our MetS cohort showed no signs of intestinal inflammation, they presented with increased levels of serum TNFα that also correlated with increasing triglyceride and fecal diacyl-glycerophosphocholine levels and decreasing HDL cholesterol levels. CONCLUSION: Taken together, our main results show that MetS subjects showed major alterations in fecal lipid profiles suggesting alterations in the intestinal host-microbiota metabolism that may arise before concrete signs of gut inflammation or intestinal permeability become apparent. Lastly, we posit that fecal metabolomics could serve as a non-invasive, accurate screening method for both MetS and NAFLD.

Bark is a permanent surface for microbial colonization at the interface of trees and the surrounding air, but little is known about its microbial communities. We used shotgun metagenomic sequencing to analyze the bark microbiomes of avocado trees from two orchards, and compared one of them to rhizospheric soil. It was shown that the microbial communities of avocado bark have a well-defined taxonomic structure, with consistent patterns of abundance of bacteria, fungi, and archaea, even in trees from two different locations. Bark microbial communities were distinct from rhizospheric soil, although they showed overlap in some taxa. Thus, avocado bark is a well-defined environment, providing niches for specific taxonomic groups, many of which are also found in other aerial plant tissues. The present in-depth characterization of bark microbial communities can form a basis for their future manipulation for agronomical purposes.

The aims of the present study were (1) to describe the changes in physical fitness during an 8 year follow-up in a large sample of Spanish adults aged 65 or over that are initially engaged in organized physical activity (OPA), (2) to compare fitness changes according to different age groups (65 to 69 vs. 70 to 74 vs. ≥75 years-old), (3) to evaluate the independent and combined effects of changes in OPA engagement and sitting time (ST) on physical fitness. A total of 642 (147 males) non-institutionalized over 65 years-old participants completed the EXERNET battery fitness tests and completed a validated questionnaire from which information regarding OPA and ST were collected. All participants completed evaluations in 2008-2009 and in 2016-2017. An impairment of fitness-related variables happens after 65 years of age in both males and females, with the older participants (≥75), showing the largest decreases. Males who continued performing OPA demonstrated lower decreases in balance, leg flexibility and agility when compared to those who stopped performing OPA during the follow-up. Females who continued performing OPA demonstrated lower decreases of all variables except for balance when compared to those who stopped performing OPA during the follow-up.

BACKGROUND: Shotgun injuries (SGI) are infrequent, but due its special ballistics, are related to adverse outcomes. OBJECTIVE: To analyze operative and administrative variables, critical for the institution. METHOD: Demographics and health-care related variables from SGI patients admitted to Military Central Hospital (Mexico City) between July 2006 and August 2019, were retrospectively studied. Statistics methods used were dispersion measures and relative occurrence frequency. RESULTS: Over a 15 months-span, 21 SGI patients were admitted. Mean age was 36.9 ± 13.6 years (range: 14-61) and male gender was dominant (n = 20; 95%). Type II SGI were the most common injuries (62%; 13/21). Mean hospital length of stay was 37.1 ± 28.7 days (range: 3-109) while stay at ICU was 20.3 ± 22.5 days (range: 3-99). Global rate of morbidity was 82% (17/21) and most frequent complications were infective. Global mortality rate was 24% (5/21). CONCLUSIONS: Once SGI cause prolonged length of stay, high rate of morbidity and of enormous consuming of material and human resources, primary prevention strategies are convenient for health-care systems compromised to the care of these cases.


ANTECEDENTES: Las lesiones por disparo de escopeta (LE) son infrecuentes, pero debido a su balística especial se relacionan con un pronóstico adverso. OBJETIVO: Analizar variables operativas y administrativas de los pacientes con LE, de interés para la institución. MÉTODO: Se estudiaron retrospectivamente variables demográficas y asistenciales de pacientes con LE admitidos al Hospital Central Militar (Ciudad de México) entre julio de 2006 y agosto de 2019. Los métodos estadísticos usados fueron medidas de dispersión y frecuencia relativa de ocurrencia. RESULTADOS: En 158 meses se admitieron 21 pacientes con LE. La edad media fue de 36.9 ± 13.6 años (rango: 14-61) y predominó el sexo masculino (n = 20; 95%). La LE tipo II fue la más frecuente (62%; 13/21). La estancia hospitalaria media fue de 37.1 ± 28.7 días (rango: 3-109) y en cuidados intensivos fue de 20.3 ± 22.5 días (rango: 3-99). La tasa global de morbilidad fue del 82% (17/21) y las complicaciones más frecuentes fueron infecciosas. La tasa gobal de mortalidad fue del 24% (5/21). CONCLUSIONES: Las LE son causa de estancia hospitalaria prolongada, alta tasa de morbilidad y un enorme consumo de recursos humanos y materiales, por lo que las estrategias de prevención primaria son convenientes para los sistemas de salud comprometidos con el cuidado de estos casos.

Experiences influence the development of the central nervous system. Cognitive training promotes changes in the structure of the brain, such as in its weight and number of cells, as well as ability to perform dendritic remodeling. The present study was designed to detect possible differences in the neuronal morphology of the dorsal hippocampus between female and male Long-Evans rats after cognitive training (CT). CT was promoted through three learning and memory tests: the Morris water maze, the Barnes circular maze, and Novel object recognition tests. Our data revealed no differences in learning or memory capacities between female and male rats; rats of the two sexes solved the behavioral test with equal efficiency. CT caused an increase in the basilar and apical dendritic arborization of CA1 neurons in male rats, whereas female rats that underwent CT presented only remodeling in the apical arbors of CA1 neurons. The basilar arbors of CA3 neurons of female rats showed an increase in arborization, but their apical arbors were not modified; the arbors of CA3 neurons of male rats submitted to CT were not modified. Total dendritic length was modified by CT in the apical arbors of CA1 neurons of female and male rats and in the basilar CA1 arbors of male rats. There was a significant increase in dendritic spine density in all arbors of CA1 and CA3 neurons of females and males subjected to CT. These results suggest that dendritic remodeling after CT is similar between female and male rats.

Control of weeds in cultivated crops is a pivotal component in successful crop production allowing higher yield and higher quality. In rice-growing regions worldwide, weedy rice (Oryza sativa f. spontanea Rosh.) is a weed related to cultivated rice which infests rice fields. With populations across the globe evolving a suite of phenotypic traits characteristic of weeds and of cultivated rice, varying hypotheses exist on the origin of weedy rice. Here, we investigated the genetic diversity and possible origin of weedy rice in California using 98 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers and an Rc gene-specific marker. By employing phylogenetic clustering analysis, we show that four to five genetically distinct biotypes of weedy rice exist in California. Analysis of population structure and genetic distance among individuals reveals diverse evolutionary origins of California weedy rice biotypes, with ancestry derived from indica, aus, and japonica cultivated rice as well as possible contributions from weedy rice from the southern United States and wild rice. Because this diverse parentage primarily consists of weedy, wild, and cultivated rice not found in California, most existing weedy rice biotypes likely originated outside California.

Background: Early skin-to-skin contact promotes infant physiologic stability, provides warmth and makes breast milk readily available. Despite the known benefits of early skin-to-skin contact, this practice is not included within standard care in the Mexican public healthcare system. After birth, newborns are usually taken to an incubator in the nursery where they transition to extrauterine life and receive either dextrose 5% or infant formula for their first feed. The aim of this study was to assess if a dual educational intervention in a rural hospital in Mexico could modify current practice and accomplish early skin-to-skin contact and early breastfeeding. Methods: A two-step educational intervention was designed. The first step was to educate the labor and birthing staff of the hospital, and the second step was to educate all pregnant women with uncomplicated pregnancies at 36 weeks' gestation. The educational intervention explored the benefits, implications and steps of early skin-to-skin contact and early breastfeeding. All births were registered for the three month period following the intervention. The time of onset of skin-to-skin (SSC) contact, its duration and time of initiation of breastfeeding were recorded and analyzed using ANOVA testing. Results: A total of 142 births met our inclusion criteria, from those, 77% (n = 109) received skin-to-skin contact and early breastfeeding. The average time of initiation of skin-to-skin contact in the first and last month of the study was 18.5 (± 2.2) and 9.6 (± 2.2) minutes of life, respectively (p < 0.001). The average duration of SSC in the first and last month was 22 (± 10.9) and 40.9 (± 17.4) minutes, respectively (p < 0.001). The average time of onset of breastfeeding in the first and last month was 48.9 (± 15) and 34.4 (± 16.7) minutes of life, respectively (p < 0.001). Conclusions: A simple and low-cost educational intervention achieved the inclusion of skin-to-skin contact and early breastfeeding as part of standard care in a rural hospital. Further studies could replicate our intervention in similar settings to test the generalizability of the findings.

OBJECTIVE: An adequate level of fitness is critical to achieving healthy ageing. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of organized physical activity (PA) and the number of hours of practice on the fitness levels of the elderly. METHODS: A total of 3104 people over 65 years old from Spain, belonging to the EXERNET Multicenter Project (722 men and 2382 women, mean age: 72.1 ± 5.3 years) participated in the study. Fitness was evaluated by 8 specific tests for this population. Participation in organized PA was recorded through a questionnaire. Differences in fitness values depending on the participation in PA and the number of hours were measured with ANCOVA adjusting for age, hours of walking and sitting time. RESULTS: Those who did not participate in this type of activity increased their risk of having a low level of fitness in most variables evaluated, with some differences between sexes (OR: from 1.6 to 2.6 in men and from 1.4 to 2.2 in women). In men, no significant differences were observed between practicing less than 2, 2-4 or more than 4 hours (P grater than 0,05), with an exception in the strength of the left arm. However, women who performed more than 2 hours a week in organized PA had better balance, strength of lower and upper extremities, flexibility of lower extremities, walking speed and aerobic capacity than those who performed less than 2 hours of PA a week (P less than 0,05). CONCLUSIONS: The practice of organized PA produces a beneficial effect on the fitness of the elderly regardless of age, hours of walking and time sitting per day.


OBJETIVO: Un nivel adecuado de condición física (CF) es fundamental para el logro de un envejecimiento saludable. El objetivo de este estudio consistió en evaluar el impacto de la actividad física (AF) organizada y el número de horas de práctica sobre el nivel de CF de las personas mayores. METODOS: En el estudio participaron 3104 personas mayores de 65 años de España, pertenecientes al Proyecto Multicéntrico EXERNET (722 hombres y 2382 mujeres; edad media: 72,1±5,3 años). La CF se evaluó mediante 8 test específicos para esta población. La participación en AF organizada se registró mediante un cuestionario. Las diferencias en la CF en función de la práctica y número de horas de AF se midieron con ANCOVA ajustando por edad, horas de caminar y de estar sentado. RESULTADOS: Aquellos que no participaban en este tipo de actividad incrementaban su riesgo de tener un nivel bajo de CF en la mayoría de las variables evaluadas, observándose algunas diferencias entre sexos (OR: desde 1,6 hasta 2,6 en hombres y desde 1,4 hasta 2,2 en mujeres). En los hombres no se observó ninguna diferencia significativa entre practicar menos de 2, 2-4 o más de 4 horas (todos P mayor de 0,05), a excepción de la fuerza del brazo izquierdo; sin embargo, las mujeres que realizaban más de 2 horas de AF organizada a la semana tenían mayor equilibrio, fuerza de piernas y de brazos, flexibilidad de piernas, velocidad al caminar y resistencia aeróbica que aquellas que asistían a este tipo de sesiones menos de 2 horas a la semana (P menor de 0,05). CONCLUSIONES: La práctica de AF organizada produce un efecto beneficioso sobre la CF de las personas mayores independientemente de la edad, las horas que estén sentados o el tiempo que dediquen a caminar.
