RESUMEN

The contamination of foodstuffs with aflatoxins B1 (AFB1) as carcinogen/mutagens toxin produced by Aspergillus fungi that are a major threat to the economy, safe food supply, and human health. To, we present a facile wet-impregnation and co-participation strategies for the construction of a novel superparamagnetic MnFe biocomposite (MF@CRHHT), in which dual metal oxides MnFe were anchored in/on agricultural/forestry residues (chitosan/rice husk waste/hercynite hybrid nanoparticles) and applied for rapid AFB1 detoxification by destroying in a non-thermal/microbial way. Structure, and morphology were comprehensively characterized by various spectroscopic analyses. The AFB1 removal in PMS/MF@CRHHT system followed pseudo-first-order kinetics, and exhibited excellent efficiency (99.3 % in 20 min and 83.1 % in 5.0 min) over a broad pH range (5.0-10.0). Importantly, relationship between high efficiency and physical-chemical properties, and mechanistic insight reveals that the synergistic effect could be related to the formation MnFe bond in MF@CRHHT and then mutual electron transfer between them to enhanced electron density and generate reactive oxygen species. An AFB1 decontamination pathway proposed was based on the free radical quenching experiments and analysis of the degradation intermediates. Thus, the MF@CRHHT can be applied as an efficient, cost-effective, recoverable, environment-friendly and highly efficient biomass-based activator for remediate pollution.

RESUMEN

This paper presents a comprehensive study of non-linear systems of multi-order fractional differential equations from aspects of theory and numerical approximation. In this regard, we first establish the well-posedness of the underlying problem by investigations concerning the existence, uniqueness, and influence of perturbed data on the behavior of the solutions as well as smoothness of the solutions under some assumptions on the given data. Next, from the numerical perspective, we develop and analyze a well-conditioned and high-order numerical approach based on an operational spectral Galerkin method. The main advantage of our strategy is that it characterizes the approximate solution via some recurrence formulas, instead of solving a complex non-linear block algebraic system that requires high computational costs. Moreover, the familiar spectral accuracy is justified in a weighted L 2 -norm, and some practical test problems are provided to approve efficiency of the proposed method.

RESUMEN

Background: Nivolumab was the first immuno-oncology agent available for the treatment of lung cancer in Canada. In the present study, we evaluated the real-world benefit of nivolumab in Canadian patients with lung cancer. Methods: Patients included in the cohort were identified from a registry of patients treated through expanded access to nivolumab before and after Health Canada approval. Demographics were collected from the application forms. Outcome data for the duration of treatment and survival were collected retrospectively. Results: In contrast to the randomized clinical trial populations, our study cohort included patients who were older (median age: 66 years; range: 36-92 years) and who had an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 2 (8.9%). Despite the poorer-prognosis cohort, median overall survival was 12.0 months, which is comparable to the survival demonstrated in the randomized phase iii trials of nivolumab in lung cancer. Median time to treatment discontinuation was 3.45 months and was similar for all patient subgroups, including poorer-prognosis groups such as those with a performance status of 2, those 75 years of age and older, and those with brain metastases. Conclusions: Nivolumab given in a real-world clinical setting was associated with results similar to those reported in the phase iii clinical trial setting.

RESUMEN

This article documents the addition of 299 microsatellite marker loci and nine pairs of single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) EPIC primers to the Molecular Ecology Resources (MER) Database. Loci were developed for the following species: Alosa pseudoharengus, Alosa aestivalis, Aphis spiraecola, Argopecten purpuratus, Coreoleuciscus splendidus, Garra gotyla, Hippodamia convergens, Linnaea borealis, Menippe mercenaria, Menippe adina, Parus major, Pinus densiflora, Portunus trituberculatus, Procontarinia mangiferae, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, Schizothorax richardsonii, Scophthalmus rhombus, Tetraponera aethiops, Thaumetopoea pityocampa, Tuta absoluta and Ugni molinae. These loci were cross-tested on the following species: Barilius bendelisis, Chiromantes haematocheir, Eriocheir sinensis, Eucalyptus camaldulensis, Eucalyptus cladocalix, Eucalyptus globulus, Garra litaninsis vishwanath, Garra para lissorhynchus, Guindilla trinervis, Hemigrapsus sanguineus, Luma chequen.
