RESUMEN

The present study aims to examine effect factors that determine the development of symptomatology in the course of a stationary youth-welfare measure of clients with anorexia nervosa. Therefore, four clients were examined, who showed two different patterns in the development of weight gain - two clients showed a relatively fast initial weight gain and improvement whereas two clients, despite being in treatment for more than twelve month, showed less increase of weight gain. Over the course of one year, quantitative and qualitative data have been collected, and interviews were held with the clients, as well as the pedagogical staff.The analysis of the data using a mixed-methods-design suggests that despite similarities regarding comorbidity and pathology, individualized treatment approaches with a high accuracy of fit must be implemented, to be able to meet the demands of the clients and help them make long-lasting progress. Further, the observed clients showed severe deficits regarding their self-worth/self-efficacy, which should be taken into consideration within concepts of treatment.

RESUMEN

This article focuses the challenges of evaluating complex health promotion interventions in community settings. On the basis of two examples - the Präventionsnetzwerk Ortenaukreis (prevention network Ortenau, southwest Germany) and the project "Lenzgesund" (health promotion in the Lenz quarter of Hamburg, Germany) - empirical approaches and solutions are described. Across projects five central principles could be extracted: 1) a detailed description of the intervention and its objectives, 2) the connection of concept, structure, process, and outcome evaluation, 3) a multimodal and multimethodic approach, 4) participation, and 5) the analysis of summative evaluation data and implementation factors. These principles enable the description of effects beyond RCT designs.

RESUMEN

Supporting Early Childhood Teacher's Competences in the Encounter with Refugee Children and their Families Children and families with experiences as refugees bring out a challenge for the professionals in early childhood institutions (kindergarten). A curriculum to strengthen the competencies of early childhood teacher teams in the encounter with children and families with flight experiences was developed, implemented and evaluated. The article shows the objectives of this curriculum and the first evaluation results. The evaluation with qualitative and quantitative methods shows an increase of self-assessed security and competences in the pedagogical contact/encounter with the target group. A relevant success factor was the adaptation of the frame curriculum to the needs and situation of the specific early childhood teacher teams.

RESUMEN

Networks of support for young families are established nationwide in Germany in the last years. It is shown that a coordinated approach--in the cooperation between health system and youth welfare system--is very important. The different programs to promote parental educational competencies or to foster parent-child-interaction should be integrated in these systems. This article presents the results of the evaluation of one specific regional network ("Netzwerk Frühe Hilfen im Ortenaukreis", Baden-Württemberg); the differential interventions were focused. Three different types of families could be identified empirically and it was possible to describe specific professional intervention strategies for these family-types.

RESUMEN

This article focuses on first results of a prevention project dealing with the promotion of resilience in institutions of early childhood education (e.g. kindergarten). In four institutions with 278 children the early childhood educators are trained and the children themselves take part in a special training programme. Additionally the parents are given the chance to participate in special courses and individual counselling, while the institutions are involved in networks with other institutions, e.g. for educational guidance. The process and the effects of the programme are evaluated in a control group design by qualitative and quantitative (standardised tests) methods. After a first project stage of six months interim findings show a positive response in all target groups. There are significant positive results on the children of the treatment group in their self-concept and in their cognitive development.
