RESUMEN

Objective@#To explore character strengths of college students who sought counseling, and its relationship with mental health.@*Methods@#A total of 180 college students who sought counseling were investigated by using the short version of Character Strengths Questionnaire and the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) during March 2020 to October 2021.@*Results@#The top five character strengths of college students who sought counseling were appreciation, authenticity, gratitude, humor, love of learning ( 8.39± 1.64, 7.82±1.74, 7.73±1.57, 7.29±1.81, 7.17±1.88); The bottom five character strengths were kindness, bravery, persistence, zest, leadership (5.59±1.75, 5.81±1.30, 5.86±1.72, 5.98±1.59, 6.06±1.60). Linear regression analysis found love, social intelligence and insight showed associations with different dimensions of mental health, with correlation coefficient of each regression equation between -0.12 and 0.16, and the coefficient of determination between 0.05 and 0.19 ( P <0.01). Love had a negativeassociation with all factors of SCL- 90 ( β=-0.314--0.159, P <0.05), which could explain 3.3%-12.5% of the variation of each factor. Social intelligence had a negative association with obsessive compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity and anxiety ( β=-0.200--0.150, P <0.05), which can explain 1.6%-3.2% of the variation. Insight had a positive association with somatization, hostility and paranoia ( β=0.168-0.279, P <0.05), which can explain 2.3%-3.8% of the variation.@*Conclusion@#The lack and excess of character strengths is associated with mental health problems. Therefore, it would be more effective to help counseling cases build an appropriate and balanced character in the context of a strengths based approach.

RESUMEN

Photo-Fenton is a promising photocatalytic technology that utilizes sunlight. Herein, an Fe-free 3%-CuO/Sr0.76Ce0.16WO4 photocatalyst was synthesized to apply simulated wastewater degradation via a photo-Fenton process under simulated sunlight. The photodegradation efficiency of RhB solution over the 3%-CuO/Sr0.76Ce0.16WO4 photocatalyst is 93.2% in the first 3 h; its photocatalytic efficiency remains at 91.6% even after three cycle experiments. The kinetic constant of the 3%-CuO/Sr0.76Ce0.16WO4 photocatalyst is 0.0127 min-1, which is 2.8-fold that of an intrinsic Sr0.76Ce0.16WO4 sample. The experiment of radical quenching revealed that the photogenerated electrons and holes are transferred to CuO to form hydroxyl radicals. Besides, the photocatalyst was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), diffused reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements. It has some reference significance for the design of iron-free photocatalysts.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of norcantharidin (NCTD) to proliferation of leukemia cells through disrupting key regulators of sonic Hedgehog (SHH) pathway and its downstream transcription factor SOX2. METHODS: CCK8 was used to detected the HL60 and NB4 cells after inhibited by NCTD, SMO and GLI1 inhibitor for 24 hours. Expression level of SMO, GLI1 and SOX2 in HL60 cells with NCTD treatment was detected by immunoblot. HL60 cells were transfected with pcDNA3.1 plasmid expressing GLI1 or SOX2. Empty vector and pcDNA3. 1-EGFP were divided into negative and positive control group, respectively. The expression of exogenous GLI1 or SOX2 in HL60 cells was confirmed by immunoblot, and growth curve of HL60 cell was checked by CCK8. Proliferation of genetic modified HL60 cells treated by various dose of NCTD was detected. RESULTS: NCTD, SMO/GLI1 inhibitors could inhibit the proliferation of NB4 and HL60 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Compared with solvent (DMSO)-treated control group, NCTD remarkably decreased protein level of SMO, GLI1 and SOX2. GLI1 and SOX2 were overexpressed in HL60 cells as compared with pcDNA3.1 empty vector-transfected group. Growth curve demonstrated significant proliferative advantage of GLI1/SOX2-transfected cells. CCK8 assay indicated that GLI1/SOX2-overexpressed HL60 cells were more resistant to NCTD treatment. CONCLUSION: NCTD attenuates HL60 proliferation via targeting the Hedgehog/SOX2 axis.

Continuous development of industry and civilization has led to changes in composition, texture and toxicity of waste water due to the wide range of pollutants being present. Considering that the conventional wastewater treatment methods are insufficient for removing micropollutants and nutrients to a high level, other, alternative, treatment methods should be used to polish wastewater treatment plant effluents. In this study we developed an alternative, polishing concept for removal of ammonium and micropollutants that could potentially be incorporated in existing wastewater treatment plants. We demonstrated a method to use high silica MOR zeolite granules as an adsorbent for simultaneous removal of the micropollutant sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and ammonium (NH4+) ions from aqueous solutions. At an initial NH4+ concentration of 10 mg/L the high silica zeolite mordenite (MOR) granules removed 0.42 mg/g of NH4+, similar to the removal obtained by commonly used natural zeolite Zeolita (0.44 mg/g). However, at higher NH4+ concentrations the Zeolita performed better. In addition, the Langmuir isotherm model showed a higher maximum adsorption capacity of Zeolita (qmax, 4.08 mg/g), which was about two times higher than that of MOR (2.11). The adsorption capacity of MOR towards SMX, at both low (2 µg/L) and high (50 mg/L) initial concentrations, was high and even increased in the presence of NH4+ ions. The used adsorbent could be regenerated with ozone and reused in consecutive adsorption-regeneration cycles with marginal decrease in the total adsorption capacity.

Herein, a 3.0%-Au/Sr0.70Ce0.20WO4 sample was prepared for the photocatalytic reduction of the Cr2O7 2- ion. The photocatalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectra. The Sr0.70Ce0.20WO4 sample presented a photocatalytic reduction activity that is better than those of the Ce-doped sample and the intrinsic sample. Thereafter, different metal elements, Cu, Ag, Au, and Pt, were used as cocatalysts, which were loaded on the Sr0.70Ce0.20WO4 sample. The 3.0%-Au/Sr0.70Ce0.20WO4 photocatalyst showed optimal photocatalytic reduction activity in a 8 vol % methanol solution (pH = 7) under visible light irradiation. The kinetic constant of the optimal one is 0.0039 min-1, which is 1.86 times that of the Sr0.70Ce0.20WO4 sample. The photocatalyst is stable enough after a 24 h photocatalytic experiment.
