RESUMEN

Ligand-protected heterometallic nanoclusters in contrast to homo-metal counterparts show more broad applications due to the synergistic effect of hetero-metals but their controllable syntheses remain a challenge. Among heterometallic nanoclusters, monovalent Ag-Cu compounds are rarely explored due to much difference of Ag(I) and Cu(I) such as atom radius, coordination habits, and redox potential. Encouraged by copper-catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction, comproportionation reaction of Cu(II)X2 and Cu(0) in the presence of (PhC≡CAg)n complex and molybdate generated a core-shell peanut-shaped 66-nuclear Ag(I)-Cu(I) heterometallic nanocluster, [(Mo4O16)2@Cu12Ag54(PhC≡C)50] (referred to as Ag54Cu12). The structure and composition of Ag-Cu heterometallic nanocluster are fully characterized. X-ray single crystal diffraction reveals that Ag54Cu12 has a peanut-shaped silver(I)/copper(I) heterometallic nanocage protected by fifty phenylacetylene ligands in µ3-modes and encapsulated two mutually twisted tetramolybdates. Heterometallic nanocage contains a 54-Ag-atom outer ellipsoid silver cage decorated by 12 copper inside wall. Nanosized Ag54Cu12 is a n-type narrow-band-gap semiconductor with a good photocurrent response. Preliminary experiments demonstrates that Ag54Cu12 itself and activated carbon supported Ag54Cu12/C are effective catalysts for 1,3-dipole cycloaddition between alkynes and azides at ambient conditions. The work provides not only a new synthetic route toward Ag(I)-Cu(I) nanoclusters but also an important heterometallic intermediate in CuAAC catalytic reaction.

RESUMEN

Morphology instability holds the major responsibility for efficiency degradation of organic solar cells (OSCs). However, how to develop polymer donors simultaneously with high efficiency and excellent morphology stability remains challenging. Herein, we reported naphtho[2,1-b:3,4-b']dithiophene-5,6-imide (NDTI)-based new polymers PNDT1 and PNDT2. The alkyl chain engineering leads to high crystallinity, high hole mobility (>10-3 cm2 V-1 S-1), and nanofibrous film morphology, which enable PNDT2 to exhibit an efficiency of 18.13% and a remarkable FF value of 0.80. Moreover, the NDTIs have short π-π stacking and abundant short interactions, and their polymers exhibit superior morphological stability. Therefore, the PNDT2-based OSCs exhibit much better device stability than that of PNDT1, PAB-α, and benchmark polymers PM6 and D18. This work suggests the great importance of the large conjugated backbone of the monomer and alkyl chain engineering to develop high-performance and morphology-stable polymers for OSCs.

RESUMEN

Plant-based diets are recommended for cancer survivors; however, their effects on lung cancer mortality are limited. We conducted this study to evaluate the association between plant-based dietary patterns and lung cancer mortality. A total of 408 newly diagnosed lung cancer patients aged 18 to 79 years were enrolled in the study. Dietary intake was assessed using a validated 111-item food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). The survival status was confirmed by medical records and an active follow-up until March 31, 2023. We calculated three dietary indices: the overall plant-based diet index (PDI), the healthful plant-based diet index (hPDI), and the unhealthful plant-based diet index (uPDI). Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to evaluate the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the association of plant-based indices with lung cancer mortality. During the follow-up period (median: 40.97 months; interquartile: 29.77-45.63 months), 240 patients died from lung cancer. An inverse association was observed between hPDI scores and lung cancer mortality (Q4 vs. Q1, HR, 0.66, 95% CI, 0.45-0.97, the P value for trend, 0.042), while each 10-unit increment was associated with a decreased risk of lung cancer mortality (HR, 0.75; 95% CI, 0.57-0.99). Regarding PDI and uPDI, no significant association was found with lung cancer mortality. Our study suggests that adherence to a diet with a high hPDI score may reduce lung cancer mortality.

RESUMEN

Purpose: To study the patterns of lymph node metastasis (LNM) of endometrial cancer (EC) and to clarify the individualized clinical target volume delineations of regional lymph nodes (CTVn). Methods: Data from a total of 556 patients with EC who had undergone total hysterectomy associated with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (TH/BSO) and systematic lymphadenectomy were retrospectively examined. The clinicopathological factors related to LNM were analyzed using logistic regression analysis. Results: LNM was found in 76 of 556 patients, resulting in a metastasis rate of 13.67%. The rates of LNM in patients with fundus and cornua lesions were 7.56% for para-aortic nodes and 14.41% for pelvic lymph nodes. The rates of LNM in patients with sidewall lesions were 3.15% for para-aortic nodes and 10.22% for pelvic lymph nodes. The rates of LNM in patients with lower uterine segment and cervix lesions were 12.50% for para-aortic nodes and 26.67% for pelvic lymph nodes. Deep myometrial invasion, histological type, histological differentiation, and lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) emerged as statistically significant risk factors for pelvic LNM of EC (P = 0.008, 0.015, < 0.001, 0.005, respectively). Grade 3 differentiation had a strong influence on LNM to the para-aortic nodes (P = 0.015). Conclusions: Myometrial invasion, histological type, histological differentiation, and LVSI were related to pelvic LNM and grade 3 was associated with para-aortic LNM. These factors should be considered comprehensively to design the CTVn for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) of EC. For patients with lower uterine segment/cervix and fundus/cornua lesions, delineating the irradiation field of the para-aortic nodal region may confer a benefit.

RESUMEN

To investigate the protective effects of curcumin (Cur) on gastric mucosal injury induced by cisplatin (DDP), and explore possible molecular mechanisms. A mouse of gastric mucosal injury was established by intraperitoneal injection of DDP (27 mg/kg). Thirty mice were randomly divided into control group, DDP group and DDP + Cur group. Serum and gastric mucosal samples were collected on the 7th day after Cur treatment. The index of gastric mucosa injury was calculated, and the expression levels of inflammation, apoptosis and signaling pathway proteins were evaluated using hematoxylin and eosin staining, ELISA and western blotting analysis. These data showed that Cur treatment significantly attenuated DDP-induced decrease in body weight, food intake, fat and muscle ratios, and improved the gross gastric injury, scores of ulcer index, and histopathology changes triggered by DDP (p < .05). Meanwhile, Cur significantly decreased serum IL-23 and IL-17 proteins, reduced the expression levels of gastric mucosal IL-1ß, TNF- α and MPO, and restored the level of IL-10 protein (p < .05). Moreover, Cur treatment significantly inhibited the expression levels of Caspase-3, PARP and Bax, and increased the expression of Bcl-2 protein. Furthermore, Cur treatment significantly decreased the expression levels of IL-1R, MyD88 and TAK1, and also repressed the activation of NF-κB and nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65. And more importantly, Cur treatment significantly inhibited DDP-induced gastric mucosal JNK1/2, ASK1, P38 and JUN phosphorylation, and promoted the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and C-Myc proteins. Our data suggest that Cur treatment alleviates DDP-induced gastric mucosal inflammation and apoptosis, which may be mediated through the NF- κ B and MAPKs signaling pathway.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The role of iron biomarkers and iron intake in the susceptibility to lung cancer is unclear. The purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis, to assess the relationship between iron levels in the body or iron intake and the risk of lung cancer. METHOD: This review is registered with PROSPERO (number CRD 42020199776). PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase and Cochrane were used to search for studies assessing the relationship between iron and lung cancer, up to July 15, 2021. Qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out to determine if there was a correlation between iron biomarkers/intakes and the risk of lung cancer. RESULT: Twenty articles were included. Pooled analyses demonstrated that serum ferritin concentrations and transferrin saturation (TSAT) were significantly higher in patients with lung cancer than in healthy controls (ferritin: standardized mean differences [SMD], 0.235, 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.129, 0.341, I2 = 32.1 %; TSAT: SMD, 0.07, 95 % CI, 0.018, 0.121, I2 = 0 %). In contrast, serum transferrin concentrations were significantly lower in patients with lung cancer than in healthy controls (SMD, -0.591, 95 % CI, -1.18, -0.003, I2 = 87.7 %). No significant effects of serum iron, lung tissue iron, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) ferritin, or iron intake (total iron, dietary iron, heme iron, or non-heme iron) were found on lung cancer incidence. CONCLUSION: Among the different iron biomarkers analyzed, a trend in association was only detected with serum ferritin, TSAT and transferrin concentration and no associations were found between iron intakes and the risk of lung cancer. However, more prospective studies are needed to strengthen the current evidence.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Immunoglobulin-A vasculitis (IgAV) is an immune-related systemic vasculitis with an unclear etiology. Genetic predisposition is now considered to be closely associated with the development of the disease, and it is essential to reveal the relationship between them. To explore the role of heredity in the disease, we performed a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of 496 IgAV cases and 7165 controls using an Illumina Infinium Global Screening Array chip. METHODS: In the first stage of analysis, a significant correlation between the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) and IgAV was observed. Subsequently, human leukocyte antigen (HLA) analysis was conducted using a new large-scale Han-MHC reference panel. Fine mapping of IgAV risk in the MHC region indicated that two amino acid positions, 120 and 11, of HLA-DRB1 and three potential HLA alleles (HLA-DRB1∗04, HLA-DRB1∗16, and HLA-DRB1∗16:02) were significantly associated. RESULTS: Further stepwise conditional analysis demonstrated that 3 amino acid positions (120, 26, 96) of HLA-DRB1 and 6 HLA-DRB1 alleles (HLA-DRB1*04, HLA-DRB1*16, HLA-DRB1*01, HLA-DRB1*12:02, HLA-DRB1*10, and HLA-DRB1*15:02) were independent signals. Among them, the most significant signal was HLA-DRB1 amino acid Ser120 (OR = 1.59, p = 3.19 × 10-8 ); no independent signal in the MHC region except for HLA-DRB1 was found. CONCLUSIONS: Our study confirms that the pathogenesis of IgAV has a genetic component and that HLA-DRB1 is strongly associated with susceptibility to IgAV.

RESUMEN

A polyoxometalate-templated thiolate-protected silver nanocluster, [Cu3(Mo4O16)2@Ag55(CyhS)43(CH3O)(COOCF3)]·3H2O, has been isolated under solvothermal conditions. In situ insertion of three Cu2+ ions into two polymolybdate anions generated a new, sandwich-type D3h-symmetric [Cu3(Mo4O16)2]10- polyoxoanion template encapsulated into an Ag55(CyhS)43 shell. The structure and composition of this Ag nanocluster have been fully characterized. This work has provided a new way to develop high-nuclearity metal nanoclusters with various structures.

RESUMEN

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), one of the most fatal malignancies in the world, is usually diagnosed in advanced stages due to late symptom manifestation with very limited therapeutic options, which leads to ineffective intervention and dismal prognosis. For a decade, tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have offered an overall survival (OS) benefit when used in a first-line (sorafenib and lenvatinib) and second-line setting (regorafenib and cabozantinib) in advanced HCC, while long-term response remains unsatisfactory due to the onset of primary or acquired resistance. Recently, immunotherapy has emerged as a promising therapy in the treatment of several solid tumors, such as melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer. Moreover, as the occurrence of HCC is associated with immune tolerance and immunosurveillance escape, there is a potent rationale for employing immunotherapy in HCC. However, immunotherapy monotherapy, mainly including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) that target checkpoints programmed death-1 (PD-1), programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), and the cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4), has a relatively low response rate. Thus, the multi-ICIs or the combination of immunotherapy with other therapies, like antiangiogenic drugs and locoregional therapies, has become a novel strategy to treat HCC. Combining different ICIs may have a synergistical effect attributed to the complementary effects of the two immune checkpoint pathways (CTLA-4 and PD-1/PD-L1 pathways). The incorporation of antiangiogenic drugs in ICIs can enhance antitumor immune responses via synergistically regulating the vasculature and the immune microenvironment of tumor. In addition, locoregional treatments can improve antitumor immunity by releasing the neoplasm antigens from killed tumor cells; in turn, this antitumor immune response can be intensified by immunotherapy. Therefore, the combination of locoregional treatments and immunotherapy may achieve greater efficacy through further synergistic effects for advanced HCC. This review aims to summarize the currently reported results and ongoing trials of the ICIs-based combination therapies for HCC to explore the rational combination strategies and further improve the survival of patients with HCC.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated and hyperproliferative skin disease with both genetic and environmental components. Copy number variations (CNV) of IL22 and LCE3C-LCE3B deletion have been confirmed to be predisposed to psoriasis vulgaris (PsV) in several ethnic groups. However, it remains to be clarified whether CNVs of IL22 and LCE3C are associated with different subtypes of psoriasis (psoriatic arthritis, PsA; erythrodermic psoriasis, EP; and generalized pustular psoriasis, GPP). MATERIAL AND METHODS We enrolled 897 Han Chinese individuals, including 478 patients and 419 healthy controls, and detected CNVs of IL22 and LCE3C using the comparative CT method by real-time PCR, and Pearson's χ² test was used to evaluated the copy number difference among subtypes. RESULTS CNVs of IL22 were significantly higher in PsV than in healthy controls (P<0.001). CNV of LCE3C in PsV, PsA, and GPP groups were significantly lower compared to healthy controls. When linked with clinical parameters, mild psoriasis carried less IL22 copy numbers than that in severe psoriasis (P=0.043). Neither IL22 or LCE3C CNVs were associated with age of onset. CONCLUSIONS CNVs of LCE3C and IL22 might differentially contribute to subtypes of psoriasis. These findings suggest complex and diverse genetic variations in and among different clinical subtypes of psoriasis.

RESUMEN

Forest resource survey is important for the sustainable development of forest ecosystem in China. The average tree height is a main structural parameter of forest resource survey, and also one of the key parameters with greatest difficulty to obtain. The purpose of this study was to explore the potential of joint active and passive remote sensing technology in estimating forest average height. Taking Xixiaoshan Forest Farm in Linjiang City of Jilin Province as the research area, we used Sentinel-1 SAR and Sentinel-2A data, extracted two backscatter coefficients and eight texture information of Sentinel-1, ten spectral bands and texture information of Sentinel-2A and eleven vegetation index variables, constructed five groups of average tree height estimation models based on above variables and fusion of four variables by multiple linear regression method. We further evaluated the influence of each variable on the inversion accuracy. The results showed that the texture information extracted from the Sentinel-2A spectral band of a single data source variable had a better modeling effect and could be used as effective data to estimate the average tree height. The height estimation model of the integrated four variables was optimal, with a R2 vaule of 0.56, a root mean square error of leave-one-out cross-validation of 2.92 m, and a relative root mean square error of leave-one-out cross-validation of 21.5%. The forest average height model based on Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2a characteristic variables could improve the estimation accuracy of forest height, which could be used for regional forest average height estimation and mapping.

RESUMEN

Psoriasis is an immune-mediated genetic disease involving innate and the adaptive immune system. Aurora kinase A (AURKA) belongs to a seine/threonine kinases family and is elevated in lesional psoriatic tissues. This research aimed to investigate the effects of AURKA on psoriasis progression and whether it worked by regulating autophagy or inflammasome activation. The results showed that the expression of AURKA was higher in psoriasis tissue than that in the psoriasis skin. IFN-γ (100 ng/mL) plus poly (dA:dT) (2 mg/mL) induced the increased AURKA, secretion of IL-1ß, IL-18 and the active form of caspase-1 (p20). AURKA knockdown inhibited the inflammatory responses of keratinocytes and the activation of AIM2 inflammasome, and enhanced autophagy. 3MA (autophagy inhibitor) attenuated the effects of AURKA on AIM2 inflammasome. In addition, AURKA promoted the activation of the AKT/mTOR pathway. Akt inhibitor (PI-103) attenuated AIM2 inflammasome activation induced by Aurka overexpression. In conclusion, this research demonstrated that AURKA promoted the psoriasis-related inflammation by blocking autophagy-mediated AIM2 inflammasome suppression. AURKA has the potential to be explored as a new promising target for the treatment for psoriasis.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Porokeratosis (PK) is a rare, heterogeneous group of keratinization disorders with an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern and is characterized by the presence of cornoid lamella. Disseminated superficial actinic PK is the most encountered subtype and typically manifests as multiple, small annular plaques with atrophic centers and slightly raised hyperkeratotic edges. Seven associated mutations (SSH1, SART3, MVKP, MVK, MVD, FDPS, and SLC17A9) have been reported in disseminated superficial actinic PK patients. AIM: We searched a Chinese disseminated superficial porokeratosis (DSAP) family to detect the causative genes. In the meantime, we reviewed the articles reported about DSAP in Chinese population, summarizing their clinical manifestations and discussing the incidence of DSAP in Chinese population. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sanger sequencing on the MVD and MVK genes was performed to identify the pathogenic mutation in a Chinese family with DSAP. Literature for DSAP cases reported in Chinese populations was searched by Sinomed and PubMed. RESULTS: We identified the c. 875A > G (p. Asn292Ser) mutation in the MVD gene in the family. CONCLUSIONS: That mutation was a hotspot mutation. Literature review showed that the age of onset in DSAP family was earlier than that in sporadic patients; the lesion is common in the face in Chinese population which is distinct from studies in Caucasians; ultraviolet exposure is the main aggravating factor.

RESUMEN

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder with undefined pathogenesis. Several biomarkers for this disease have been identified by proteomic analysis. We explored the whole-proteomic changes in 45 pairs of psoriatic and adjacent noninvolved skin tissues in a Chinese population. A total of 3686 proteins were identified, of which 3008 were quantified. A total of 102 and 124 proteins were upregulated and downregulated in lesional skin, respectively. SART1 (P = 3.55 × 10-5) and GLTP (P = 1.54 × 10-3) were the most significantly down- and upregulated proteins. Nearly 90% of these differentially regulated proteins exhibited the same expression trends as those in an online RNA sequencing dataset for psoriasis; 19 differentially regulated proteins exhibited a negative relationship with DNA methylation data for psoriatic lesions. The differentially expressed proteins were enriched in ribosomes, antigen processing and presentation, immune response, and IL-17 signalling pathways. This study identified multiple differentially regulated proteins in psoriatic lesions, which suggested that changes in the proteome play important regulatory roles in psoriasis-associated processes. SIGNIFICANCE: Proteomic analysis was performed in 45 pairs of psoriatic and adjacent noninvolved skin tissues in a Chinese population. More than 3000 proteins were quantified, of which 226 were differentially expressed in psoriatic skin tissues. These proteins were mainly enriched in the immune response, antigen processing and presentation and IL-17 signalling pathways, which have been reported to be associated with the pathogenesis of psoriasis.

RESUMEN

Lanthanide metal-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) have demonstrated great potential in luminescence sensing and optical anti-counterfeiting. High-security anti-counterfeiting technology is of great importance and requires the development of universal luminescent materials with multiple modes of emission and adjustable photoluminescence. Herein, a 3D red light emission microporous europium(iii) metal-organic framework [Eu3(OH)(1,3-db)2(H2O)4]·3H2O (1) (1,3-db = 1,3-di(3',5'-dicarboxylpheny) benzene) was constructed from a zigzag [Eu3(COO)8] chain and π-electron-rich terphenyl-tetracarboxylate. Notably, the quenched fluorescence of 1 under hydrogen chloride vapor could be recovered upon fuming by a vapor of Et3N. Most strikingly, the strong blue light emission by nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dots (N,S-CDs) could be encapsulated in 1 to generate a dual-emission composite, namely, N,S-CDs@Eu-MOF, which shows solvent-dependent photoluminescence: N,S-CD-related blue luminescence in water and Eu-MOF-related red emission in organic solvents. Taking advantage of the above unique reversible fluorescent behavior, Eu-MOF and N,S-CDs@Eu-MOF are prepared as fluorescent high-security inks to achieve data encryption and decryption on specific flower patterns.

RESUMEN

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which mainly involves immune system. This research was to investigate the role of MST1 in the psoriasis, and the detailed mechanism whether related with Th17 and NF-κB. The skin samples and peripheral blood were obtained from psoriasis patients. Skin samples and T cells isolated from peripheral blood of patients were cultured in vitro. The results showed that the level of MST1 in the lesional skin of all three patients was higher than that of un-lesional skin, as well as the amount of CD4, CD8 and IL17 positive T cells. The amount of circulating Th17 was higher than that of control. The level of MST1, IL-17, IL-22 and TNFα was enhanced in activated T cells (p < 0.01), which indicated that MST1 increased markedly in activated T cells. The proliferation and migration of T cells were decreasing in MST1 knockdown cells, while increasing in overexpressed cells, as well as the production of IL-17, IL-22 and TNFα. MST1 enhanced the activation of TLR4-NF-κB signaling pathway, and TLR4 knockdown could reverse the effect of MST1 on NF-κB activation. This research indicated that MST1 could regulate the activation of Th17 in psoriasis partly through TLR4-NF-κB pathway. MST1 may be a target for treatment of psoriasis.

RESUMEN

AIM: To assess the effectiveness of decision aids in the treatment, prevention and screening of breast cancer patients. DESIGN: A systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS: The review protocol was registered in the CRD Prospero database(CRD42020173028). A literature search was carried out in five databases: PubMed, Cochrane, EMBASE, Scopus and Web of science data in January 2020. We used The Cochrane risk bias assessment tool to evaluate the literature quality of included trials and the Review Manager 5.2 software to analyse data. RESULTS: We included 22 studies. Compared with the conventional methods, decision aids reduced treatment decision conflicts and had no significant effect on screening decision conflicts (WMD=-2.25, 95% CI = - 2.64,-1.87, p < .0001; WMD=-1.37, 95% CI = - 3.57,0.83, p = .22). Three were no statistical differences in participants' anxiety, decision regret, knowledge, informed choice and decision-making satisfaction between the two groups.
