RESUMEN

We investigated 1805 cases of breast abscesses during lactation to estimate the risk factors for multiple breast abscesses during lactation. A total of 2000 cases of breast abscesses during lactation were investigated using an online questionnaire, and 1805 cases with complete data were analyzed. The survey response rate was 90%. According to the number of abscesses, the patients were divided into 2 groups: single breast abscess (number = 1298) and multiple breast abscess (number = 507). Pearson chi-square test was used to compare the 15 risk factors between the 2 groups. Risk factors with significant differences were substituted into a binary logistic regression model to analyze the independent risk factors associated with multiple breast abscesses during lactation. There were significant differences between the 2 groups in (1) weeks postpartum, (2) separated from the baby, (3) breastfeeding exclusivity, (4) nipple inversion, (5) fever, (6) breast redness/swelling, (7) nipple pain, (8) breast massage by nonmedical staff, with (1), (5), (6), and (8) being independent risk factors. Patients under 6 weeks postpartum, separated from the baby, not exclusively breastfeeding, having an inverted nipple on the affected side, fever, breast skin redness and swelling on the affected side, nipple pain, and having undergone a breast massage by nonmedical staff are more likely to develop multiple breast abscesses.

RESUMEN

In this paper, the potassium cobalt hexacyanoferrate (II), K2CoFe(CN)6, with peroxidase-like activity was used for the fabrication of a novel label-free Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) electrochemical immunosensor. The K2CoFe(CN)6 nanocubes were made by a simple hydrothermal method and followed by low-temperature calcination. In addition to structural characterization, the peroxidase-mimicking catalytic property of the material was confirmed by a chromogenic reaction. It is known that H2O2 can oxidize electroactive thionine molecules under the catalysis of horseradish peroxidase (HRP). In this nanozyme-based electrochemical immunoassay, due to the steric hindrance, the formation of immune-complex of LGG and LGG antibody on the modified GCE inhibits the catalytic activity of the peroxidase mimics of K2CoFe(CN)6 and thus reduced the current signal. Therefore, the developed electrochemical immunosensor achieved quantitative detection of LGG. Under optimal conditions, the linear range of the sensor was obtained from 101 to 106 CFU mL-1 with a minimum detection limit (LOD) of 12 CFU mL-1. Furthermore, the immunosensor was successfully applied in the quantitative detection of LGG in dairy product samples with recoveries ranging from 93.2% to 106.8%. This protocol presents a novel immunoassay method, which provides an alternative implementation pathway for the quantitative detection of microorganisms.

RESUMEN

The study of bacteriophages is experiencing a resurgence with the increasing development of antimicrobial resistance in Staphylococcus aureus. Nonetheless, the genetic features of highly efficient lytic S. aureus phage remain to be explored. In this study, two lytic S. aureus phages, SapYZU11 and SapYZU15, were isolated from sewage samples from Yangzhou, China. The phage morphology, one-step growth, host spectrum and lytic activity of these phages were examined, and their whole-genome sequences were analysed and compared with 280 published genomes of staphylococcal phages. The structural organisation and genetic contents of SapYZU11 and SapYZU15 were investigated. The Podoviridae phage SapYZU11 and Herelleviridae phage SapYZU15 effectively lysed all of the 53 S. aureus strains isolated from various sources. However, SapYZU15 exhibited a shorter latent period, larger burst size and stronger bactericidal ability with an anti-bacterial rate of approximately 99.9999% for 24 h. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that Herelleviridae phages formed the most ancestral clades and the S. aureus Podoviridae phages were clustered in the staphylococcal Siphoviridae phage clade. Moreover, phages in different morphology families contain distinct types of genes associated with host cell lysis, DNA packaging and lysogeny. Notably, SapYZU15 harboured 13 DNA metabolism-related genes, 5 lysin genes, 1 holin gene and 1 DNA packaging gene. The data suggest that S. aureus Podoviridae and Siphoviridae phages originated from staphylococcal Herelleviridae phages, and the module exchange of S. aureus phages occurred in the same morphology family. Moreover, the extraordinary lytic capacity of SapYZU15 was likely due to the presence of specific genes associated with DNA replication, DNA packaging and the lytic cycle.

RESUMEN

An ultrasensitive label-free electrochemical sensor based on a homemade imprinted polypyrrole (PPy) polymer film was prepared to achieve quantitative determination of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG). The LGG-imprinted polymer (LIP) film was deposited on a portable screen-printed electrode (SPE) via electropolymerization, which constituted an independent integrated system. The main preparation parameters of the LIP sensor were investigated to obtain optimal performance. Under optimized conditions, the peak current response of the LIP sensor showed a linear relationship with the logarithmic value of LGG concentration in the range from 101 to 109 CFU mL-1 and a detection limit of 5 CFU mL-1. The proposed LIP sensor has achieved efficient, ultrasensitive, highly selective, and cost-effective detection of LGG and can be further developed for practical applications in the quality inspection and development of probiotic products.

RESUMEN

Photonic quantum information processing relies on operating the quantum state of photons, which usually involves bulky optical components unfavorable for system miniaturization and integration. Here, we report on the transformation and distribution of polarization-entangled photon pairs with multichannel dielectric metasurfaces. The entangled photon pairs interact with metasurface building blocks, where the geometrical-scaling-induced phase gradients are imposed, and are transformed into two-photon entangled states with the desired polarization. Two metasurfaces, each simultaneously distributing polarization-entangled photons to spatially separated multiple channels M (N), may accomplish M×N channels of entanglement distribution and transformation. Experimentally we demonstrate 2×2 and 4×4 distributed entanglement states, including Bell states and superposition of Bell states, with high fidelity and strong polarization correlation. We expect this approach paves the way for future integration of quantum information networks.

RESUMEN

Various multi-drug-resistant microorganisms have appeared while a single antibacterial agent is increasingly no longer adequate for dealing with these resistant microorganisms. Herein, commercially purchased 50 nm-average-diameter silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and Lactobacillus buchneri-isolated surface-layer proteins (SLPs) as a capping agent were used to fabricate a hybrid antibacterial agent (SLP-AgNPs) with enhanced antibacterial activity, and the possible synergistic antibacterial mechanism was explored. Characterization results revealed that SLP-AgNPs were uniformly surrounded by protein corona provided from SLP, and the formulations were mainly mediated by the electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonding, which was evidenced by the results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. According to the antibacterial tests, the minimum inhibitory concentration of SLP-AgNPs against Salmonella enterica (0.010 mg/mL) and Staphylococcus aureus (0.005 mg/mL) was 5-10 times lower than that of bare AgNPs, and while SLP-AgNPs showed a higher antibiofilm activity. Furthermore, bacterial cells exposed to SLP-AgNPs exhibited higher cell membrane permeability and stronger inhibition of respiratory-chain dehydrogenase activity, resulting in more severe cell death compared with bare AgNPs. The synergistic effect of SLP on AgNPs was probably carried out by enhanced function of adhesion to bacteria and antibacterial ability of SLP and SLP's supramolecular lattice structure on the sustained release of silver ion.

RESUMEN

Rough surfaces lead to diffused light in both reflection and transmission, thereby blurring the reflected and transmitted images. Here, we merge the traditionally incompatible diffuse reflection and undistorted transmission by introducing the concept of random-flip metasurfaces made of randomly flipped components. These metasurfaces have a globally random phase in reflection that leads to diffuse reflection, while the local space inversion and reciprocity principle ensure distortion-free transmission. Notably, the metasurface reflects like a rough surface yet transmits like a smooth one in a broad spectrum. On the basis of complementary random arrays of gold nanorods, we verified this functionality by both optical spectroscopy and imaging experiments over a broad range of frequencies from the visible to the infrared regime. This feature, which originates from breaking the phase correlation between reflection and transmission by the metasurface, could enable a range of new optical materials and display technology.

RESUMEN

ABSTRACT: The incidence of granulomatous mastitis (GLM) in multiparae as seriously affected the quality of life and breastfeeding of pregnant women after delivery, but the treatment is rarely reported. In this article, the development, healing, and lactation of 13 cases were reported and a retrospective analysis was performed. 10 cases of GLM were treated at the Breast Disease Prevention and Treatment Center of Haidian Maternal & Child Health Hospital of Beijing and 3 cases of GLM were treated in the Breast Department of Weihai Municipal Hospital of Shandong province from February 2017 to May 2019.Among the 13 patients, conservative symptomatic treatment was adopted during pregnancy and lactation: anti-infective therapy consisting of oral cephalosporin antibiotic for patients; ultrasound-guided puncture and drainage of pus or incision and drainage after abscess formation. Observation continued during the sinus tract phase. Postpartum breastfeeding was encouraged, especially on the affected side. In this study, the median healing time was 20 months and the average healing time was 30.4 months in 5 healthy breast lactation cases. In 8 cases of bilateral breast lactation, the median healing time was 30 months and the average healing time was 26.5 months. Linear regression test analysis: whether the affected breast was breast-fed after delivery had no effect on the postpartum wound healing time, P = .792. The wounds of 13 patients healed well after lactation, and none of them recurred since the last follow-up visit. There were no adverse events in all infants.Conservative symptomatic treatment for GLM of multiparous women during pregnancy and lactation and encouraging breastfeeding after delivery have no effect on infant health and the recovery time of patients.

RESUMEN

Excessive application of phosphorus fertilizer leads to high soil available phosphorus content but low phosphorus use efficiency in the main production areas of spring rape in eastern Qinghai. Understanding the effects of phosphorous application rates on the growth, phosphorus absorption, soil phosphorus balance in the field of spring rape could improve nutrient management of spring rape, and benefit for the sustainable development of agriculture in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. A field experiment was carried out in Huzhu County of Qinghai Province from 2017 to 2018. We mea-sured seed yield, phosphorus uptake and oil content of spring rape under five phosphorous fertilizer rates (0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg P2O5·hm-2). In 2017, the seed yield and oil production of spring rape with the rate of 60 kg·hm-2 were significantly higher than that of no phosphorus fertilizer treatment. In contrast, seed yield and oil production did not increase when the phosphorus rate exceeded 60 kg·hm-2 in 2017. Phosphorus rate did not affect seed yield, phosphorus accumulation, and oil production of spring rape in 2018. The phosphorus use efficiency was low in both years, with a mean value of 6.7%. Phosphorus fertilizer application caused phosphorus surplus in soils, which was low when the application rate was less than 60 kg·hm-2. Our results suggest that the rate of 60 kg·hm-2 is suitable for spring rape production in the eastern Qinghai Province.

RESUMEN

A Toffoli gate plays a critical role in many quantum algorithms due to its function as a building block, which is a fundamental element for feasible large-scale quantum computation. With the help of polarization, spatial, and temporal degrees of freedom (DOFs), a construction scheme of a nearly deterministic polarization Toffoli gate is proposed, where only two two-photon gates are required. The simple construction circuit together with available techniques and optical elements facilitate the realization of the scheme presented here. This construction scheme can be utilized as a reference for multiqubit quantum gates with multiple DOFs.

RESUMEN

Based on the circuit including linear optical elements, a fault-tolerant distribution of GHZ states against collective noise among three parties is proposed. Additionally, two controlled DSQC protocols using the shared GHZ states as quantum channels are also presented under the charge of the controller. The first controlled DSQC protocol applies single parity analysis based on weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities. The receiver Bob performs single-photon measurement to obtain the secret information after the outcome publication of the single parity analysis executed by the sender Alice. The second protocol applies dense coding to double information transmission capacity, and the double parity analyses based on weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities are performed to obtain the secret information.

RESUMEN

We present a scheme for encoding single logical qubit information, which is immune to collective decoherence acting on Hilbert space spanned by the corresponding states. The scheme needs a spatial entanglement gate and a polarization entanglement gate, which are realized with the assistance of weak cross-Kerr nonlinear interaction between photons and coherent states via Kerr media. Under the condition of sufficient large phase shifts, single logical qubit information can be encoded into this minimal optical decoherence-free subsystem with near-unity fidelity. Together with the mature techniques of measurement and classical feed forward, simple linear optical elements are applied to complete the encoding task, which offers the feasibility of this scheme for protecting quantum information against decoherence.

RESUMEN

A 4-year field experiment was conducted to investigate the influence of three rotation systems and three corresponding leguminous green manure (LGM) application methods on wheat yield and soil properties. The rotation patterns were summer fallow--winter wheat (SW), LGM-- winter wheat (LW) and LGM--spring maize--winter wheat (LMW). The three LGM application methods of LW included: early mulch, early incorporation and late incorporation while the three LGM application methods of LMW were: stalk mulch, stalk incorporation and stalk move-away. The results indicated that for LW, LGM consumed more soil water, thus the wheat yield was not stable. The nitrate storage in 0-200 cm soil after wheat harvest was significantly higher than that of the others, indicating an increasing risk of nitrate leaching. Early mulch under LW had the highest soil organic carbon (SOC) content and storage of SOC (SSOC) in 0-20 cm soil. For LMW, wheat yield was comparatively stable among years, because of higher water storage before wheat seeding, and the nitrate storage in 0-200 cm soil after wheat harvest was significantly lower than LW, which decreased the risk of nitrate leaching. Stalk mulch had higher SOC content in 0-20 cm soil after wheat harvest compared with move-away. In addition, compared with the soil when the experiment started, stalk much also increased SSOC in 0-20 cm soil. In conclusion, LMW with stalk mulch could increase soil water storage, stabilize crop yield, improve soil fertility and decrease 0-200 cm soil nitrate storage. This system could be treated as a good alternative for areas with similar climate.

RESUMEN

Folk drug Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino contains many biologically active phytochemicals which have been demonstrated to be effective against chronic diseases. As in vivo anti-tumor experiments of G. pentaphyllum extract (GP) show much stronger antitumor activities than in vitro, it is important and necessary to understand the metabolic study of GP. A sensitive and specific U-HPLC-MS method was utilized for the first time to rapidly identify gypenosides and its possible metabolites in rat serum, urine, and faeces after oral administration. Solid phase extraction was utilized in the sample preparation. Negative Electrospray ionisation (ESI) mass spectrometry was used to discern gypenosides and its possible metabolites in rat samples. As a result, after oral administration, a total of seven metabolites of G. pentaphyllum extract were assigned, two from the rat serum and seven both from the rat urine and faeces. As metabolites of G. pentaphyllum extract, all of them have never been reported before.
