RESUMEN

A total of 40 patients with non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU) were divided into two groups. Twenty patients of group 1 received standard antibacterial treatment while 20 patients of group 2 received the same treatment plus an immunotropic drug based on tiloron (lavomax) in a course dose 1.25 g. Patients of group 2 had no recurrences while in group 1 recurrences were seen in 25% patients. Addition of lavomax resulted in clinical and etiological cure and activation of local (secretory IgA) and systemic (interferons alpha and gamma in blood serum) factors in anti-infection defense in NGU patients.

RESUMEN

The paper presents the results of determination of sensitivity of 154 gonococcal strains isolated from the patients, who were treated at the clinic of the Urals Research Institute of Dermatovenereology and Immunopathology and the Sverdlovsk Regional and Yekaterinburg City Dermatovenereological Dispensaries in 2001-2003, to penicillin, tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone, spectinomycin, sparfloxacin, and moxifloxacin. It also shows the preponderance of moderately penicillin-resistant gonococci (75.3%) and their trend towards their transformation to resistant strains, tetracycline-resistant (74.0%), ciprofloxacin-sensitive (89%), and ceftriaxone-sensitive (82.5%) strains, as well as the absence of Neisseria gonorrhoeae resistant to spectinomycin, sparfloxacin, and moxifloxacin.

RESUMEN

The ability to oxidize n-alkanes was studied with various species of fungi belonging to the Cunninghamella genus. These fungi are able to assimilate hydrocarbons and to accumulate up to 1.5 g/litre of biomass. The most active strain was Cunninghamella elegans (-) 1204. The amount of lipids formed, and their composition, depended on the length of the carbon chain of oxidized alkane. The content of fat in the cells increased with the length of the hydrocarbon chain. The following lipid fractions have been detected: phospholipids, monoglycerides, diglycerides, triglycerides, sterols, free fatty acids, sterol esters, and hydrocarbons. The qualitative composition of the fractions depended, to a considerable extent, on the n-alkane utilized. Investigation of the fatty-acid composition of intracellular lipids has shown that fatty acids with an even number of carbon atoms are formed from hydrocarbons with an even number of these atoms, while fatty acids both with an even and odd number of carbon atoms are synthesized from hydrocarbons with an odd number of these atoms. The relative content of the acids with the same number of carbon atoms as that of the alkane being utilized increased with the length of the carbon chain.

RESUMEN

Total cellular lipids of the synthetic of vitamin B12 Act. olivaceus involve predominantly phospholipids (about 70%). Lipid phosphates consist of phosphatidyl ethanol amine and phosphatidyl-2,3-butandiol (over 40 and 30%, respectively) and lower quantities of phosphatidyl inositol olmonomanoside and cardiolipin. The neutral fraction includes the predominating fraction of triglycerides (over 20%) as well as mono- and diglycerides, free fatty acids, hydrocarbons and three fractions similar to waxes, sterines and sterine esters in their Rf values.
