RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most prevalent congenital disability globally. This study aimed to describe parents' perspectives on financial stressors related to having a child with CHD using a descriptive qualitative approach. METHOD: Qualitative data were obtained from parents of children with CHD in a cross-sectional web-based survey study. Iterative data analysis was used to develop essential themes that enabled a rich description of 147 parents' perspectives. RESULTS: Parents identified five financial stressors: perpetual worries about health insurance, facing the dilemma of "making too much money," struggling to balance work, worrying over having an emerging adult with CHD, and constant constraints because of financial needs. DISCUSSION: As experts in pediatric care, pediatric advanced practice providers need to work with policymakers to provide further financial assistance and sufficient insurance coverage for families that struggle to balance finances for the whole family and children with CHD.

Objective: To examine the resilience of parents of children with congenital heart disease and to investigate socio-demographic factors that may influence parents' resilience. Methods: This is a web-based survey study using a cross-sectional design. A purposive sampling method was utilized to recruit 515 parents who care for children with congenital heart disease. Resilience was assessed using the Dispositional Resilience Scale-Ⅱ. Based on expert-interviews, a questionnaire was designed to collect socio-demographic data. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and linear regressions were used to analyze data. Results: A total of 413 parents completed the survey study. The mean resilience score was 3.75 (SD = 0.61; range = 1.89-4.89) with higher scores indicating higher resilience. The linear regression models demonstrated that parents who had lower education levels and lower gross household income had lower resilience (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Parents reported resilience that reflected their ability to cope with stressful events and mitigate stressors associated with having and caring for children with congenital heart disease. Lower education levels and lower gross household income are associated with lower resilience. To increase parents' resilience, nursing practice and nurse-led interventions should target screening and providing support for parents at-risk for lower resilience. As lower education level and financial hardship are factors that are difficult to modify through personal efforts, charitable foundations, federal and state governments should consider programs that would provide financial and health literacy support for parents at-risk for lower resilience.

As nonessential workers are working from home and connected to colleagues through means of computer technology, cyberbullying, which has only recently been investigated in workplace settings, is likely to become more prevalent. Organizations are also reconsidering work structures that would keep workers remote. Workplace cyberbullying (WCB) can have a detrimental impact on victims' mental health, more than traditional face-to-face bullying. However, there is a dearth of validated assessments to monitor WCB for use in different countries. The Cyberbullying Behavior Questionnaire Short version (CBQ-S) from Jönsson et al. is a validated short scale that seems simple and practical enough to integrate in widely applied multiscale employee surveys. Previously, the CBQ-S has been only validated in Sweden (in the Swedish language) and United States (in English). This study performs a construct validation of the CBQ-S in Spain (in Spanish) and Germany (in German), to equip businesses and organizations operating in those countries with an effective valid tool to measure WCB. Two hundred nine German and 249 Spanish workers (N = 458) participated in a cross-sectional survey. Exploratory and multiple-group confirmatory factor analyses suggested a one-dimensional structure of the scale, supporting configural invariance; metric and partial scalar invariance was also supported. Latent means differences revealed significantly higher mean scores for the Spanish sample (Cohen's d = 0.61). WCB correlated positively with workplace bullying, supporting concurrent convergent validity. WCB also correlated positively with role conflict, role ambiguity, bullying in general, stress, turnover intention, and negatively with job satisfaction, indicating criterion validity.

Culture fit has been studied in numerous ways conceptually and methodologically, yielding conflicting results. This study explored it in terms of perceived and objective value congruence in relation to both acculturation and socio-cultural adjustment among 187 international students (or internationals, compared to 138 domestic students or locals) in the USA. First, for 9 out of 10 values, internationals' perceptions of U.S. values significantly differed from locals' actual values. Second, locals perceived greater stimulation and self-direction value congruence (i.e., when personal values are consistent with respondents' perceptions of U.S. values), but weaker benevolence, power, and universalism value congruence than internationals. Third, marginalised and/or separated internationals perceived incongruence on benevolence and/or tradition values. Moreover, objective value incongruence (i.e., when personal values are inconsistent with U.S. respondents' actual reported values) on power, tradition, conformity, and security values related with marginalisation. Finally, for internationals, perceived value congruence related to socio-cultural adjustment, and the correlations are opposite from expectations for locals' perceived value congruence.

Research on the potential ameliorating effects of social support on occupational stress produces weak, inconsistent, and even contradictory results. This study of 117 employees, mostly from a southern U.S. hospital supply company, examined potential moderators that were theorized might reduce the confusion: source congruence (congruence between sources of the stressor and of social support) and gender role. Congruence between the sources of stressors and of social support appeared to make little difference in determining the moderating or buffering effect of social support on the relationship between stressors and strain. Gender role, however, may moderate the relationship between social support and individual stains such that more feminine people react more strongly and positively to social support than more masculine people do.
