[Features of immune disorders in miners who took part in cleaning up after the accident at Chernobyl Atomic Energy Station]. / Osobennosti narusheniia immuniteta u gornorabochikh, preinimavshikh uchastie v likvidatsii posledstvii avarii ha ChAES.

The condition was studied of the immune and nervous system in 72 miners who took part in the elimination of the aftermaths of the Chernobyl accident and in 30 miners of the control group. Ascertained in the miners-liquidators was the presence of imbalance of T-cells of the immune system and disorder of the humoral immunity. The patients displayed changes in the blood content of sodium, increased concentrations of iron, zink, and lead, and diminished amounts of cuprum. In this group pathology of the vegetative nervous system, vascular and vestibular abnormalities were found with high frequency. The findings secured attest to the need for taking account of particular features of disordered immunity, abnormalities of metabolism and nervous regulation in instituting a complex therapy in miners-liquidators.

A method is proposed for combined modality treatment of patients with postneuritic contracture of the muscles of expression of various genesis utilizing local hypothermia as well as hypo- and hyperthermic methods of treatment. Clinical effectiveness of the proposed method of treatment of patients in the acute phase of the facial nerve neuritis, non-existence of important contraindications which are usual with the medicamentous and electrophysiotherapeutic methods of treatment of this condition, and absence of supposed complications enable it to be recommended for clinical application.

[The use of low temperatures in treating patients with trigeminal neuralgia]. / Ispol'zovanie nizkikh temperatur pri lechenii bol'nykh nevralgiei troinichnogo nerva.

Complex treatment including local use of low temperature (cryotherapy, hypothermia) was used in 142 patients with trigeminal neuralgia. Cryotherapy was applied to trigger and reflexogenic zones of the involved nerve (-6-10 degrees C). In hypothermia the applicator was applied to the zone of the involved nerve (+2 +4 degrees C), four sessions. The result was positive in 75.41% of patients. Use of cryotherapy and hypothermia allowed to increased the treatment efficiency, reduce the pharmacological load on the body, reduce treatment time and increase the remission period.

The author presents data on multifactorial principles of classification and differential diagnosis of infectious-inflammatory diseases of the nervous system with consideration of immune interaction of macro- and microorganisms, local factors of infection and inflammation, etiological principles, microbiological verification, bacteriology. The importance is stressed of pre-etiological diagnosis of the acute period in determining the trends of pathogenetic treatment.

[Hypothermia in the treatment of the pain syndromes in diseases of the nerve trunks]. / Gipotermiia v lechenii bolevykh sindromov pri zabolevaniiakh nervnykh stvolov.

Regional hypothermia was used in the complex treatment of pain syndromes in patients with lumbosacral radiculitis, radiculalgias, neuralgias. Positive results of antalgic therapy in diseases of the peripheral nervous system allow to recommend this method of treatment for wider employment.

[Features of regional peripheral hemodynamics in radicular syndromes of the sacro-lumbar region]. / Osobennosti regionarnoi perifericheskoi gemodinamiki pri koreshkovykh sindromakh poiasnichno-kresttsovogo urovnia.

Different causes leading to lesions of the peripheral nerve trunk result in instability of the state of regional hemodynamics values. Vegetative-vascular disorders determining the characteristic aspects of the peripheral hemodynamics may result in the development of intratruncal edematous compression of the nerve trunks.
