RESUMEN

Objective: In the domain of competitive events, Latin dance athletes have always suffered competitive anxiety, which is a prevalent and prevailing psychological facet, in pre-, intra-, and post-competitive engagements. Usually, the implementation of systematic desensitization training is an efficacious approach to reduce competitive anxiety levels in routine sports to fortify psychological resilience of athletes (like swimming, volleyball, and basketball). This study focuses on the effect of systematic desensitization training on competition anxiety in the training of Latin dancers to establish good mental ability and promote the competitive ability of athletes. Methodology: The "Sports Competition Anxiety Test Questionnaire" was used to evaluate and classify the competitive anxiety levels of 150 Latin dance athletes. Then, the top 48 participants were selected (24 in the intervention cohort and 24 in the non-intervention cohort) as the study participants after stratifying anxiety score levels from the highest to the lowest. The intervention group was treated with an 8-week psychological intervention by employing systematic desensitization training techniques (encompassing imagery desensitization and in vivo desensitization). The anxiety levels of the subjects were quantified by employing the "Sport Competition Trait Anxiety Inventory" (CCTAI-C) and the "Competitive State Anxiety Inventory" (CSAI-2) to scrutinize the efficacy of systematic desensitization training in regulating competitive anxiety levels among Latin dance athletes. Results: After applying systematic desensitization training, the intervention group displayed a notable reduction in sport cognitive trait anxiety. Specifically, there was a decrease of 29.37% in social evaluation anxiety, 20.31% in competition preparation anxiety, 16.98% in performance anxiety, 25.16% in failure anxiety, 34.47% in opponent's ability anxiety, and 25.16% in injury anxiety. Moreover, for competitive state anxiety, cognitive state anxiety and somatic state anxiety decreased by 39.19 and 21.43%. The state self-confidence increased by 14.42%. Conclusion: The result indicated that systematic desensitization training not only mitigates anxiety but also positively intervenes in sports-related anxiety. Moreover, systematic desensitization training can significantly diminish competitive anxiety among Latin dance athletes to bolster confidence during competitions. Integrating desensitization training into the regular regimen of Latin dance practice has the potential to fortify dancers' psychological resilience against anxiety.

RESUMEN

Black gram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper) is a pulses crop with good digestible protein and a high carbohydrate content, so it is widely consumed as human food and animal feed. Trichomes are large, specialized epidermal cells that confer advantages on plants under biotic and abiotic stresses. Genes regulating the development of trichomes are well characterized in Arabidopsis and tomato. However, little is known about trichome development in black gram. In this study, a high-density map with 5734 bin markers using an F2 population derived from a trichome-bearing and a glabrous cultivar of black gram was constructed, and a major quantitative trait locus (QTL) related to trichomes was identified. Six candidate genes were located in the mapped interval region. Fourteen single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) or insertion/deletions (indels) were associated with those genes. One indel was located in the coding region of the gene designated as Scaffold_9372_HRSCAF_11447.164. Real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) analysis demonstrated that only one candidate gene, Scaffold_9372_HRSCAF_11447.166, was differentially expressed in the stem between the two parental lines. These two candidate genes encoded the RNA polymerase-associated protein Rtf1 and Bromodomain adjacent to zinc finger domain protein 1A (BAZ1A). These results provide insights into the regulation of trichome development in black gram. The candidate genes may be useful for creating transgenic plants with improved stress resistance and for developing molecular markers for trichome selection in black gram breeding programs.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to examine conversion rates from non-exudative to exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in the fellow eye of patients with unilateral exudative AMD using the Academy IRIS® Registry. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This study was a retrospective, cohort analysis from 2016 to 2019. Patient and disease characteristics including initial AMD stage were collected. Cox proportional-hazard (PH) and logistic regression modeling were performed. RESULTS: The risk of conversion was lower for men relative to women and for Asians and Blacks relative to Whites. Compared to never-smokers, active smokers were at increased risk of conversion, and compared to initially early non-exudative AMD eyes, intermediate and advanced non-exudative AMD eyes had higher rates of conversion. Compared to active choroidal neovascularization eyes, eyes with inactive choroidal neovascularization and inactive scars had lower rates of fellow eye conversion. CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort analysis of unilateral exudative AMD patients, women, Whites, and active smokers had higher rates of non-exudative to exudative AMD conversion in the fellow eye. RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Recent studies reported that terminal nucleotidyltransferase 5A (TENT5A) is highly expressed in glioblastoma and associated with poor prognosis. In this work, we aim to specify the expression level of TENT5A in different grades of glioma and explore its role in glioma progression. METHODS: GEPIA online tools were used to perform the bioinformatic analysis. qRT-PCR, Western blot, and Immunohistochemistry were performed in glioma cells or tissues. Furthermore, CCK8, colony formation, transwell, flow cytometry and scratch assays were performed. RESULTS: TENT5A was highly expressed in glioma and its level was associated with the pathological grade of glioma. Knockdown of TENT5A suppressed cell proliferation, colony formation ability, cell invasion and migration. Overexpression of TENT5A was lethal to the glioma cells. CONCLUSION: Our data showed that the expression of TENT5A is associated with the pathological grade of glioma. Knockdown of TENT5A decreased the ability of proliferation, invasion and migration of glioma cells. High levels of TENT5A in glioma cells are lethal. Therefore, TENT5A could be a new target for glioma treatment.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND In t(8;21) acute myeloid leukemia (AML), patients with extramedullary infiltration (EMI) tend to have worse survival outcomes than those without EMI. However, it is still unclear whether allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) benefits EMI-positive t(8;21) AML patients. MATERIAL AND METHODS This study retrospectively enrolled 651 t(8;21) AML patients, and analyzed 51 patients with EMI at diagnosis. Among the 51 patients, 15 patients received allo-HSCT. RESULTS The incidence of EMI in t(8;21) AML was 10.0%, and the first complete remission rate was 78.5% in EMI-positive t(8;21) AML patients. The central nervous system was the most frequently involved site (29.4%), followed by bones (15.7%), and skin (9.8%). In terms of karyotype, 19 (37.3%) patients were t(8;21) alone, 12 (23.5%) had additional loss of a sex chromosome, and 5 (9.8%) had complex karyotype. Significantly better overall survival was observed in patients with allo-HSCT compared to patients without allo-HSCT in both multivariable models (HR=0.32; P=0.0122) and the Kaplan-Meier curves (P=0.0157). CONCLUSIONS Allo-HSCT improved the survival of EMI-positive t(8;21) AML.

RESUMEN

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a relatively safe treatment method that has been used for a long time in the clinic. It has been proven that it can enhance the sensitivity of radiotherapy and photodynamic therapy for cancer. However, there are few studies on hyperbaric oxygen and immunotherapy. In this article, we summarize that hyperbaric oxygen therapy regulates the tumor microenvironment through various pathways such as improving tumor hypoxia, targeting hypoxia-inducing factors, and generating reactive oxygen species. The change in the tumor microenvironment ultimately affects the curative effect of immunotherapy. Therefore, hyperbaric oxygen can influence immunotherapy by regulating the tumor microenvironment, providing a direction for the future development of immunotherapy.

RESUMEN

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been reported to participate in the development of various diseases. In this study, we investigated the potential mechanism underlying the role of circRNAs in atherosclerosis. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were treated with 100µg/mL oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) to simulate atherosclerosis. We observed that hsa_circ_0006867 (circ_0006867), a circRNA markedly increased in ox-LDL-treated endothelial cells, acted as a molecular sponge of miR-499a-3p and regulated its expression. This interaction led to changes in the downstream target gene ADAM10, thus affecting cell apoptosis and migration. Thus, our study suggests that circ_0006867 regulates ox-LDL-induced endothelial injury via the circ_0006867/miR-499a-3p/ADAM10 axis, indicating its potential as an exploitable therapeutic target for atherosclerosis.

RESUMEN

Purpose: To describe a patient with Marfan syndrome and crystalline lens luxation who developed phacolytic glaucoma with polychromatic crystals in the anterior chamber and vitreous. Methods: We present a retrospective case report. Results: A 58-year-old man with Marfan syndrome and crystalline lens luxation since childhood presented with 2 days of pain in the left eye. The visual acuity was 20/30 OS with an aphakic contact lens, and the intraocular pressure (IOP) was 31 mm Hg. Polychromatic crystals were evident in the anterior chamber and vitreous. The retina was attached. Despite medical treatment, the IOP remained elevated; therefore, a pars plana vitrectomy and lensectomy were performed. At the last follow-up, the IOP was normal and the retina remained attached. Conclusions: Phacolytic glaucoma can be seen in eyes with a subluxated or luxated mature or hypermature lens. In these rare cases, iridescent crystals can be observed in the aqueous and vitreous. Vitrectomy with lensectomy is the definitive treatment.

RESUMEN

GeSe monolayer (ML) has recently attracted much interest due to its unique structure and excellent physical properties that can be effectively tuned through single doping of various elements. However, the co-doping effects on GeSe ML are rarely studied. In this study, the structures and physical properties of Mn-X (X = F, Cl, Br, I) co-doped GeSe MLs are investigated by using first-principle calculations. The formation energy and phonon disspersion analyses reveal the stability of Mn-Cl and Mn-Br co-doped GeSe MLs and instability of Mn-F and Mn-I co-doped GeSe MLs. The stable Mn-X (X = Cl, Br) co-doped GeSe MLs exhibit complex bonding structures with respect to Mn-doped GeSe ML. More importantly, Mn-Cl and Mn-Br co-doping can not only tune magnetic properties, but also change the electronic properties of GeSe MLs, which makes Mn-X co-doped GeSe MLs indirect band semiconductors with anisotropic large carrier mobility and asymmetric spin-dependent band structures. Furthermore, Mn-X (X = Cl, Br) co-doped GeSe MLs show weakened in-plane optical absorption and reflection in the visible band. Our results may be useful for electronic, spintronic and optical applications based on Mn-X co-doped GeSe MLs.

RESUMEN

Molybdenum selenide (MoSe2) has recently attracted particular attention due to its room-temperature ferromagnetism (RTFM) and related spintronic applications. However, not only does the FM mechanism of MoSe2 remain controversial, but also the synthesis of MoSe2 thin films with robust RTFM is still an unmet challenge. Here it is shown that using polymer-assisted deposition under appropriate growth conditions, large-scale (4 cm × 4 cm) synthesis of MoSe2 thin films with robust RTFM and a smooth surface (roughness average ∼0.22 nm) is possible. A new record-high saturation magnetization (6.69 emu g-1) is achieved in the prepared MoSe2 thin films, about 5 times the previously reported record (1.39 emu g-1) obtained in 2H-MoSe2 nanoflakes. Meanwhile, the coercivity of the MoSe2 films can be tuned down to a new record-low value (5.0 Oe), one-tenth of the previously reported record. Notably, detailed analysis combining the experimental findings and calculation results shows that the robust RTFM mainly comes from the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yoshida (RKKY) interaction between the magnetic moments induced by abundant Mo vacancies (VMos) in the MoSe2 films. Our results give insights into the large-scale production and robust RTFM of MoSe2 thin films and may provide a platform for designing and fabricating spintronic materials and devices based on transition-metal dichalcogenides.

RESUMEN

Background: Outcomes of patients with t(8;21)(q22;q22) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) remain heterogeneous. Methods: To identify the risk factors for relapse and survival after allo-HSCT in t(8;21) AML patients, we retrospectively evaluated the clinical and prognostic information of 142 patients with t(8;21) AML undergoing allo-HSCT between January 2002 and September 2018 at 15 hematology research centers in China. Results: Twenty-nine patients (20%) relapsed after undergoing allo-HSCT. A > 1-log reduction in RUNX1/RUNX1T1-based minimal residual disease (MRD) directly before allo-HSCT and a > 3-log reduction within the first 3 months after allo-HSCT were associated with a significantly lower post-transplant 3-year cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR, 9% vs. 62% and 10% vs. 47%,all P < 0.001), whereas transplantation during the second complete remission (CR2, 39% vs. 17% during CR1, P = 0.022), during relapse (62% vs. 17% during CR1, P < 0.001) and KIT D816 mutations at diagnosis (49% vs. 18%, P = 0.039) were related to a significantly higher 3-year CIR. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that a > 1-log reduction in MRD directly before transplantation (CIR: hazard ratio(HR), 0.21 [0.03-0.71], P = 0.029; overall survival (OS): HR = 0.27 [0.08-0.93], P = 0.038) and a > 3-log reduction in post-transplant MRD within the first 3 months (CIR: HR = 0.25 [0.07-0.89], P = 0.019; OS: HR = 0.38 [0.15-0.96], P = 0.040) were independent favorable prognostic factors, and transplantation during relapse (CIR: HR = 5.55 [1.23-11.56], P = 0.041; OS: HR = 4.07 [1.82-20.12], P = 0.045) were independent adverse prognostic factors for post-transplant relapse and survival in patients with t(8;21) AML. Conclusion: Our study suggests that for patients with t(8;21) AML undergoing allo-HSCT, it would be better to receive transplantation during CR1 with a MRD directly before transplantation achieving at least 1-log reduction. MRD monitoring in the first 3 months after allo-HSCT might be robust in predicting relapse and adverse survival after allo-HSCT.

RESUMEN

Developing highly efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) under alkaline media is essential for the commercialization of alkaline exchange membrane fuel cell (AEMFC). However, the kinetics of HOR in alkaline media is complicated, resulting in orders of magnitude slower than that in acid, even for the state-of-the-art Pt/C. Here, we find that Ru-Ru2 P/C heterostructure shows HOR performance with a non-monotonous variation in a whole pH region. Unexpectedly, an inflection point located at pH≈7 is observed, showing an anomalous behavior that HOR activity under alkaline media surpasses acidic media. Combining experimental results and theoretical calculations, we propose the roles of discrepant reactive intermediates for pH-universal HOR, while H* and H2 O* adsorption strengths are responsible for acidic HOR, and OH* adsorption strength is essential for alkaline HOR. This work not only sheds light on fundamentally understanding the mechanism of HOR but also provides new designing principles for pH-targeted electrocatalysts.

RESUMEN

Background: We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a community-based integrative programme in reducing hypertension incidence among populations at high risk for hypertension in Shanghai, Eastern China. Methods: We conducted a cluster-randomized intervention trial with a total of 607 participants (intervention, n = 303; control, n = 304) between October 2019 and October 2020. A total of 605 participants (intervention, n = 302; control, n = 303) completed the follow-up survey. The intervention group received an integrative programme that included health education, physician follow-up, and self-management, while the control group received usual care only. We used questionnaires to investigate risk factors, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours regarding hypertension prevention for all participants at baseline and follow-up. We measured the incidence of hypertension according to the predefined protocol based on the national definition during the four follow-ups (only applicable to the intervention group) and the physical examination at the end of the intervention/programme/study. The difference-in-difference (DID) effects of the intervention were estimated using Generalized Estimating Equations. Results: There were no significant differences in age group, gender, and educational level between intervention and control groups at baseline. The integrative programme reduced the incidence of hypertension in the intervention group compared to the control group (odds ratio (OR) = 0.27, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.12-0.61). The DID analysis found that the one-year intervention has improved the level of hypertension-related knowledge and attitudes regarding diagnostic criteria, complications of hypertension, and lifestyle modification (P < 0.05). The intervention was also associated with a 3.7% increase in the behaviour change rate of "not smoking" (OR = 2.50, 95% CI = 1.45-4.30) and a 34.8% increase in the rate of "monitoring blood pressure regularly" (OR = 29.61, 95% CI = 13.02-67.35). Conclusions: The integrative programme could reduce the risk for hypertension and improve the level of hypertension-related knowledge and attitudes, affecting the formation of healthy behaviours in high-risk populations. The community-based management for high-risk groups should be scaled up and incorporated into national hypertension control programmes, which may potentially reduce the substantial burden of hypertension and cardiovascular disease in China. RESUMEN

Background: Patients with different karyotypes had different prognosis in t(8;21) acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Cytarabine (Ara-C) plays an important role as consolidation therapy in t(8;21) AML. T(8;21) AML patients with different karyotypes responded differently to post-remission therapy with Ara-C. However, the optimum dose of Ara-C in patients with different karyotypes remains unclear. Methods: From January 2002 to September 2018, a total of 188 younger adult (14-60 years) patients with t(8;21) AML were enrolled in this retrospective study. Cytogenetic analysis and aberration descriptions followed the International System for Human Cytogenetic Nomenclature. All the patients achieved first complete remission (CR1) after induction chemotherapy. Patients received low-dose Ara-C [LDAC (<1 g/m2)], intermediate-dose Ara-C [IDAC (1-1.5 g/m2)], or high-dose Ara-c [HiDAC (2-3 g/m2)] regimens as consolidation therapy after CR1. All patients were followed for survival or relapse until death, or study completion. We analyzed the prognosis of LDAC, IDAC, and HiDAC regimens as consolidation therapy in patients with different karyotypes. The primary endpoint was overall survival (OS) and the secondary endpoint was relapse-free survival (RFS). Results: The results showed IDAC significantly improved OS compared with LDAC [hazard rate (HR) =0.55, P=0.0375] when the clinical factors were adjusted. However, no significant difference between HiDAC and IDAC was found. Subgroup analysis further showed that the OS advantage of IDAC was focused on patients with additional cytogenetic abnormalities, including loss of X chromosome (-X), del(9q), or complex karyotype (group B, HR =0.21, P=0.0125), but not on patients with t(8;21)-only or additional loss of Y chromosome (-Y) cytogenetics (group A, HR =0.77, P=0.4804) in multivariate analysis. Similarly, better OS was shown after IDAC than LDAC consolidation in patients in group B, whether they received allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) or not, but not in group A. Conclusions: IDAC was suitable for patients with additional -X, del(9q), or complex karyotype, while LDAC might be sufficient for patients with t(8;21)-only or additional -Y cytogenetics. It suggested that t(8;21) AML patients with different karyotypes should use different consolidation regimens.

RESUMEN

Rice bean (Vigna umbellata) is an underexploited domesticated legume crop consumed for dietary protein in Asia, yet little is known about the genetic diversity of this species. Here, we present a high-quality reference genome for a rice bean landrace (FF25) built using PacBio long-read data and a Hi-C chromatin interaction map, and assess the phylogenetic position and speciation time of rice bean within the Vigna genus. We sequence 440 landraces (two core collections), and GWAS based on data for growth sites at three widely divergent latitudes reveal loci associated with flowering and yield. Loci harboring orthologs of FUL (FRUITFULL), FT (FLOWERING LOCUS T), and PRR3 (PSEUDO-RESPONSE REGULATOR 3) contribute to the adaptation of rice bean from its low latitude center of origin towards higher latitudes, and the landraces which pyramid early-flowering alleles for these loci display maximally short flowering times. We also demonstrate that copy-number-variation for VumCYP78A6 can regulate seed-yield traits. Intriguingly, 32 landraces collected from a mountainous region in South-Central China harbor a recently acquired InDel in TFL1 (TERMINAL FLOWER1) affecting stem determinacy; these materials also have exceptionally high values for multiple human-desired traits and could therefore substantially advance breeding efforts to improve rice bean.

RESUMEN

Purpose: We describe the development and management of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in a patient with acute syphilitic posterior placoid chorioretinitis (ASPPC). Methods: A retrospective case review is presented. Results: A 66-year-old man presented with unilateral blurry vision. He had a history of systemic syphilis infection twice, the last diagnosed 15 years before presentation and treated with intravenous ceftriaxone, resulting in seroreversion of an initially positive rapid plasma reagin (RPR). Examination revealed ASPPC with subfoveal CNV. Repeat testing revealed an RPR titer of 1:16 384. He was treated with 6 monthly intravitreal injections of bevacizumab and systemic antibiotics, resulting in resolution of his ASPPC and regression of his CNV. Conclusions: CNV is a rare complication of ASPPC. Multimodal imaging can be useful to suggest the diagnosis, and prompt treatment with systemic antibiotics and intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agents can lead to resolution of ASPPC and regression of CNV, respectively.

RESUMEN

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a therapeutic target in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The optimal combined modality of optimal combined modality of anti--EGFR monoclonal antibodies, induction chemotherapy (ICT), concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy for NPC remains poorly defined. None of previous studies have developed subsequent treatment strategies on the basis of stratification according to the efficacy following ICT plus anti-EGFR mAbs. This study aims to increase treatment intensity for patients with poor efficacy of ICT and reduce treatment toxicity for patients with favourable efficacy of ICT by assessing whether the efficacy of this treatment regimen is non-inferior to ICT plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy (historic controls). INTRODUCTION: METHODS AND ANALYSIS: Pathology-confirmed WHO type II/III NPC patients at clinical stage III-IVA (eighth American Joint Committee on Cancer/Union for International Cancer Control staging system) will be included in the study. They will receive ICT plus nimotuzumab (NTZ), followed by radiotherapy plus NTZ or concurrent chemoradiotherapy plus NTZ (stratified based on the efficacy of ICT plus NTZ). The primary endpoint is 3-year failure-free survival rate; while the secondary endpoints are 3-year overall survival rate, distant metastasis-free survival rate and locoregional recurrence-free survival rate, and short-term remission rate of tumour and treatment toxicity. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: The study protocol has been approved by the Ethics Committee of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Our findings will be disseminated in a peer-reviewed journal. Implementation strategies are in place to ensure privacy and confidentiality of participants. RESUMEN

Purpose: To evaluate efficacy of a novel risk stratification system in minimizing resident surgical complications and to evaluate whether the system could be used to safely introduce cataract surgery to earlier levels of training. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study on 530 non-consecutive cataract cases performed by residents at Columbia University. Risk scores, preoperative best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraoperative complications, postoperative day 1 (POD1), and month 1 (POM1) exam findings were tabulated. The relationship between risk scores and POD1 and POM1 BCVA was modeled using linear regression. The relationship between risk scores and complication rates was modeled using logistic regression. Logistic regression was used to model the rates of complications across different levels of training. Rates of complications were compared between diabetic versus non-diabetic patients using t-tests. Results: Risk scores did not have significant association with intraoperative complications. Risk scores were predictive of corneal edema (OR = 1.36, p = 0.0032) and having any POM1 complication (OR = 1.20, p = 0.034). Risk scores were predictive of POD1 (ß = 0.13, p < 0.0001) and POM1 (ß = 0.057, p = 0.00048) visual acuity. There was no significant association between level of training and rates of intraoperative (p = 0.9) or postoperative complications (p = 0.06). Rates of intraoperative complication trended higher among diabetic patients but was not statistically significant (p = 0.2). Conclusion: Higher risk scores were predictive of prolonged corneal edema but not risk of intraoperative complications. Our risk stratification system allowed us to safely introduce earlier phacoemulsification surgery.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to investigate clinical evidence for defining the indications of prophylactic level IB radiotherapy (RT) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). METHODS: We conducted a phase 2 prospective study in 116 newly diagnosed patients with NPC treated by intensity-modulated RT. Whether level IB was irradiated is based on the risk score model (RSM). Two groups based on RSM were obtained: low risk and high risk. Omission of level IB irradiation was conducted in the low-risk group, otherwise level IB was contoured as part of the treatment target. Grade 2 or worse xerostomia at 12 months was assessed by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) QLQ-H&N35 questionnaire. RESULTS: At a median follow-up of 16 months (range, 1-26 months), none of the patients developed failures at level IB. The 1-year overall survival, locoregional recurrence-free survival, and distant metastasis-free survival rates were 98.3%, 97.2%, and 95.8%, respectively. At 12 months xerostomia side-effects were reported in 90 of 116 alive patients; grade 2 or worse xerostomia at 12 months was significantly lower in the low-risk group than in the high-risk group. CONCLUSION: Omission of level IB irradiation was feasible for patients with low-risk IB lymph nodes metastasis.
