RESUMEN

A stable isotope dilution-liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method based on a low-temperature derivatization strategy with 3-nitrophenylhydrazine (3-NPH) was developed for the determination of six volatile fatty acids (VFAs) in serum, urine, and feces. Ice acetonitrile was used to precipitate proteins and extract the target analytes. The extract was derivatized with 3-NPH methanol solution at 4 °C. BEH C8 (1.7 µm, 2.1 × 100 mm) column was used for chromatographic separation, and acetonitrile-water (both containing 0.01 % formic acid) were used as the mobile phase with a gradient elution of 10 min. Electrospray ionization source (ESI) in negative ion multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode were used for analyte detection. The regression coefficients R2 of the calibration curves for the six VFAs were in the range of 0.9963-0.9994, and the LOQs were in the range of 0.02-0.5 µg mL-1, with the recoveries in the range of 85.3-104.3 %, and the intra- and inter-day precision in the range of 1.8-9.1 %. The method is simple, accurate and reliable, and has been applied in the sensitive determination of VFAs in complex biological samples.

RESUMEN

A stable isotope dilution-liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method based on a derivatisation strategy involving an N,N'-carbonylimidazole solution (CDI) with 4-(dimethylamino)-benzenemethanamine was developed for the determination of 11 free fatty acids (FFAs) in human blood samples. Serum samples were subjected to liquid‒liquid extraction and centrifuged, and the supernatant was collected for a two-step derivatisation reaction with a CDI and 4-(dimethylamino)-aniline acetonitrile solution. The derivatised solution was separated on a ACQUITY UPLC HSS T3 column (2.1 × 50 mm, 1.8 µm) column with a mobile phase consisting of water-acetonitrile in gradient elution and then detected by tandem mass spectrometry using electrospray ionisation (ESI) and multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) in positive ion mode and quantified using the isotope internal standard method. The effects of the derivatisation reaction time, temperature and concentration of derivatisation reagents on the response values of the analytes were investigated. The optimal conditions were as follows: 1.0 mg mL-1 CDI acetonitrile solution at 25 °C for 25 min, followed by a reaction with a 1.0 mg mL-1 4-(dimethylamino)-benzenemethanamine acetonitrile solution at 70 °C for 30 min. Under the optimal conditions, the limits of detection (LODs) of the 11 FFAs were in the range of 3.0-14.0 ng mL-1; the limits of quantification (LOQs) were in the range of 8.0-45.0 ng mL-1; and the mean recoveries ranged from 83.4 to 112.8%, with intraday and interday precisions ranging from 0.7 to 9.1% and 3.7-9.5%, respectively. The experimental method is simple in terms of the pretreatment operation, accurate and reliable, and can be applied to the sensitive determination of FFAs in human blood samples.

RESUMEN

A co-action task was used to explore the effect of social interactions on temporal judgements, in comparison with an individual-task condition. In Experiment 1, the co-actors sat either individually (individual condition) or alongside a partner (joint condition) in front of a monitor and then responded to time-related words (e.g. yesterday, tomorrow). In Experiment 2, co-actors sat separately in front of two monitors and categorized the words either individually or jointly. Participants' response times to past- and future-related words in the individual conditions of both experiments had no significant difference. However, in the joint conditions, the responses were faster when the past-time words were mapped toward the participants on the left than when future-time words were mapped toward them. Our data support the existence of a specific mapping between past-time-left space and future-time-right space. This suggests that the two cooperators probably shared a similar mental timeline.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Amiodarone (AM) is a drug commonly used in patients with ventricular arrhythmias. It can damage vascular endothelial cells and easily cause phlebitis. At present, the prevention and treatment of phlebitis induced by the use of AM is not clear due to the lack of corresponding primary research. Isoliquiritigenin (ISL) has an anti-inflammatory effect, but until now, has not been explored much in the field of research in primary care nursing. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and mechanism of action of ISL in treating phlebitis induced by AM. METHODS: In our study, we used human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) that were divided into three groups: the NC group (normal), the AM group (AM 30 µmol/L for 24 h), and the ISL pretreatment group (isoliquiritigenin 10 µmol/L after 1 h of pretreatment with amiodarone for 24 h). We used CCK-8 to detect cell proliferation, cell scratch assay to detect the migration capability of cells, flow cytometry to measure apoptosis, angiogenesis assay to check the total length and total branches of angiogenesis, and PCR and WB to detect the expression of PCNA, casepase-3, and VEGFA. WB was used to detect NF-κBp65 and p-NF-κBp65 expression. RESULTS: Compared with the AM group, the ISL pretreatment promoted cell proliferation and migration, inhibited cell apoptosis, increased the total length and total branches of angiogenesis, and downregulated p-NF-κBp65 expression. CONCLUSION: ISL shows promise in the prevention and treatment of clinical phlebitis and can be used as a potential therapeutic drug to prevent phlebitis.

RESUMEN

Background: The ocular features of phacomatosis pigmentovascularis (PPV) have rarely been reported, and glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness in patients with this condition. To protect vision in these patients, it is important to identify glaucoma as early as possible. Objectives: To systematically report the systemic and ocular manifestations of phacomatosis cesioflammea and phacomatosis cesioflammeo-marmorata, and to investigate a glaucoma risk scoring system. Materials & Methods: In this prospective study, patients with PPV from 2014 to 2021 were included. Clinical information was collected, and associations with glaucoma were evaluated. The suitability of the scoring system was assessed. A systematic literature review and analysis of reported cases of PPV was performed. Results: A total of 28 participants with PPV were included. Their ocular findings were similar, ranging from episcleral hyperpigmentation (78.5%), glaucoma (75%), choroid haemangioma (38%), and retinal vascular abnormalities (48%), to hyperpigmentation of the cornea, iris, lens and fundus. Glaucoma was associated with multiple factors, especially a thick choroid (odds ratio: 2.61; p = 0.008) and a diffuse mass-type of episcleral hyperpigmentation (odds ratio: 41.3; p = 0.027). The risk scoring system was characterized by high sensitivity (84%) and specificity (80%; AUC = 0.91) in predicting glaucoma. Conclusion: In addition to involving the systemic system, phacomatosis cesioflammea and phacomatosis cesioflammeo-marmorata also represent a specific spectrum of ophthalmic vascular malformations and hyperpigmentation. Early and periodic detailed ocular examination are recommended. The novel scoring system will help to tailor follow-up for visual protection.

RESUMEN

Iron-based catalysts are regarded as promising candidates for the ammonia selective catalytic reduction reaction (NH3-SCR) which show good catalytic activity at medium and high temperatures, whereas SAPO-34 molecular sieves have a micro-pore structure and are ideal catalyst carriers. In this paper, four FeOx/SAPO-34 molecular sieve catalysts with different iron contents (Fe = 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%) were prepared using an impregnation method. The effect of iron content on the surface properties and catalytic activity was investigated by a series of characterization techniques including XRD, SEM, BET, XPS, H2-TPR and NH3-TPD. Iron species in the FeOx/SAPO-34 catalysts exist in the form of isolated iron ions or well-dispersed small crystals and iron oxide species clusters. With the addition of iron content, the integrity of CHA (chabazite) zeolite structure remained, but the crystallinity was affected. The FeOx/SAPO-34 catalyst with 3% Fe loading showed a relatively flat surface with no large-diameter particles and strong oxidation-reduction ability. Meanwhile, more acidic sites are exposed, which accelerated the process of catalytic reaction. Thus, the FeOx/SAPO-34 catalyst with 3% Fe showed the best NO conversion performance among the four catalysts prepared and maintained more than 90% NO conversion efficiency in a wide temperature range from 310 °C to 450 °C.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: High-intensity focused ultrasound cyclo-plasty (UCP) is a recently developed glaucoma surgery. This study collected and analysed the clinical data of patients who underwent UCP to observe the efficacy and safety of this surgery in Chinese glaucoma patients. METHODS: This was a retrospective study. The clinical data of all the patients who underwent UCP at Affiliated Foshan Hospital, Southern Medical University, were collected and analysed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of UCP. The main outcome measure was intraocular pressure, and the secondary outcome measures were best corrected visual acuity (logMAR) and complications. RESULTS: Fifty-eight patients (61 eyes) were recruited for this study. IOP was dramatically decreased during the 12 months after UCP (p<0.05). The median IOP reduction during the 18 months post-procedure was more than 30%. The greatest reduction was at 1 month post-UCP (60.86%). The qualified success rate was more than 60% during the 18-month follow-up (Fig. 1). Poor follow up was found after 6-month post-UCP. The highest success rate was obtained at 7 days post-UCP (94.55%). No statistically significant decrease in BCVA in the vison group was observed at the follow-up visits, except for 1 day post-UCP. There was a statistically significant reduction in the use of IOP lowering medications during the 6 months post-UCP. No severe complications occurred. CONCLUSION: UCP is a safe and effective procedure for primary and refractive glaucoma at least during the 6 months post-UCP procedure. Studies with longer follow-up time and better follow up are needed to further confirm the long-term efficacy and safety of UCP in Chinese glaucoma patients.

RESUMEN

A multi-residue method has been developed for the identification and quantification of 103 common veterinary drug residues in milk and dairy Products. This method was based on QuEChERS with dispersive solid-phase where C18 sorbent and anhydrous sodium sulfate were used to sample purification. After evaporation and reconstitution, the samples were analyzed by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The mean recovery results were all higher than 60% except ampicillin, pipemidic acid, enoxacin, and estriol, and the relative standard deviation was <20.0%. The limit of quantification ranged between 0.1 and 5 µg/kg for milk and between 0.5 and 25 µg/kg for milk powder. It was successfully used to detect residues of veterinary drug in real samples. This study proposes a simple and fast analytical method for monitoring multi-class veterinary drug residues to ensure food safety.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a novel technology that provides a noninvasive, dye-less method to visualize the blood vessels of the retina. In the present study, we investigate macular microvascular density and the correlation of ocular and demographic factors using OCTA in Posner-Schlossman syndrome (PSS) patients. METHODS: This is a prospective observational study. All PSS patients and age- and sex-matched healthy subjects underwent complete ophthalmologic examination, and RE, BCVA, IOP, CCT, AL, CMT, GCIPI, RNFL, C/D ratio were recorded. The whole-image vessel density (wiVD) and whole-image perfusion density (wiPD), three-circle (1 mm central ring, 3 mm inner ring, 6 mm outer ring), and four-quadrant segmental VD and PD were calculated. RESULTS: Seventeen PSS patients and 17 healthy subjects were enrolled in this study. The mean age was 42.65 ± 11.22 years in PSS patients and 42.71 ± 10.50 years in healthy controls. IOP, CCT, and C/D ratio were higher in PSS-attacked eyes, and BCVA, OPP and RNFL thickness was lower than those in the fellow eyes (p < 0.05). BCVA and OPP were improved in the PSS-attacked eyes in intermittent period (p < 0.05). The wiVD and wiPD were lower in the PSS-affected eyes than in the fellow eyes and in the control eyes in the PSS-attacked period (p < 0.05). All segmental VD and PD was lower in the PSS affected eyes than in the healthy control eyes (p < 0.05). In intermittent period, the wiVD and wiPD were lower in the PSS-affected eyes than in the fellow eyes (p < 0.05). Age, CCT, and SSI were associated with macular wiVD and wiPD in PSS attacked period. Age and CCT were associated with macular wiVD and wiPD in PSS intermittent period. CONCLUSION: Decreased macular superficial VD and PD was found in patients with Posner-Schlossman syndrome in attacked period and in remission. Macular wiVD and wiPD were associated with age, CCT and SSI in PSS patients.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To study the limit time of phlebitis caused by continuous infusion of KabivenTM Pl and TNA (KabivenTM Pl+ alanyl glutamine + potassium aspartate) through a peripheral vein, and to provide a reference for clinical formulation of preventive measures for phlebitis. METHODS: White rabbits (n = 72) were randomly divided into three groups: group A (Normal saline), group B (Kabiven™ Pl), and group C (TNA). Blood was collected from the ear margin vein before administration and after three hours, four hours, five hours, and six hours of administration. CRP and TNF-ɑ were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Hematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemical staining were performed on tissue samples taken from the insertion point of the indwelling needle, the tip of the indwelling needle, and 1 cm from the tip of the indwelling needle, closer to the heart, to analyze early pathological changes in blood vessels. RESULTS: (1) There were no visible inflammatory symptoms in groups A, B, or C within 6 hours. (2) Four hours after starting intravenous administration, the levels of inflammatory markers in groups B and C were higher than in group A, and (3) the degree of inflammatory cell infiltration in groups B and C was more severe than in group A. (4) In all groups, the inflammatory reaction at the tip of the indwelling needle was more severe than at the other two sites. CONCLUSION: When the emulsions TNA and Kabiven™ Pl are infused through a peripheral vein, (1) four hours may be considered as the maximum time for continuous intravenous infusion in the same vein before inflammatory changes become evident, and (2) systematic assessment of the tip of the indwelling needle should be considered for inclusion in the nursing plan for phlebitis monitorings.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Exercise-induced fatigue (EIF) is a common occurrence in sports competition and training. It may cause trouble to athletes' motor skill execution and cognition. Although traditional Chinese medicine Jianpi therapy has been commonly used for EIF management, relevant evidence on the effectiveness and safety of Jianpi therapy is still unclear. METHODS: Databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, SinoMed, China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang will be searched for relevant randomized controlled trials from databases from 2000 to 2021. Randomized controlled trials related to traditional Chinese medicine Jianpi therapy in the treatment and management of EIF will be included. Systematic review and meta-analysis of the data will be performed in RevMan 5.3 according to the Preferred Reporting Items of Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. Two authors independently performed the literature searching, data extraction, and quality evaluation. Risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool for randomized clinical trials. RESULTS: This systematic review and meta-analysis will summarize the latest evidence for traditional Chinese medicine Jianpi therapy in EIF. The results will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal once completed. CONCLUSION: The conclusion of our research will provide evidence to support traditional Chinese medicine Jianpi therapy as an effective intervention for patients with EIF.OSF Registration DOI: 10.17605/OSF.IO/NRKX4.

RESUMEN

Gazing is important during communication, which is a type of body language that differs from culture to culture. The present study investigated the influence of direct and averted gaze directions on the perceived duration of gazing among same-race and other-race faces. The gaze direction effect, in which direct-gazing faces were perceived to be longer than averted-gazing faces were, was found in the same-race condition but not in the other-race condition. The results could promote our understanding of the underlying mechanism of the gaze direction effect based on the perception of interpersonal social interaction.

RESUMEN

The outbreak of severe pneumonia at the end of 2019 was proved to be caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus spreading out the world. And COVID-19 spread rapidly through a terrible transmission way by human-to-human, which led to many suspected cases waiting to be diagnosed and huge daily samples needed to be tested by an effective and rapid detection method. With an increasing number of COVID-19 infections, medical pressure is severe. Therefore, more efficient and accurate diagnosis methods were keen urgently established. In this review, we summarized several methods that can rapidly and sensitively identify COVID-19; some of them are widely used as the diagnostic techniques for SARS-CoV-2 in various countries, some diagnostic technologies refer to SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) or/and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) detection, which may provide potential diagnosis ideas.

RESUMEN

Human faces convey abundant social information. The influence of social information on duration estimation was examined by comparing a cartoon face (CF; social) condition with geometric plane figures, or CFs with internal elements disturbed from their normal position (non-social) condition, and also by comparing a human portrait facing the front (more social interaction) condition with the portrait facing the back (less social interaction) condition. Results showed that in the supra-second range, both CFs and human portraits facing the front led to an underestimation compared with non-social or less social information conditions. In the sub-second range, only portraits facing the front were overestimated compared with those facing the back and with the CFs. These results suggest that in the millisecond range, the biological information conveyed by faces may lead to higher arousal, which may result in accelerated clock speed and overestimation. In the supra-second range, it is possible that attention was diverted by social information, resulting in duration underestimation. Taken together, our results suggest that the different mechanisms were involved in duration perception of social information conveyed by face feature in the sub- and supra-second range.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To compare the choroidal thickness (CT) of the affected eyes with the contralateral eyes in the active period and in the remission period in Posner-Schlossman syndrome (PSS) using EDI-OCT. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This prospective longitudinal study included 15 patients with PSS and 15 age- and sex-matched healthy subjects. All subjects underwent complete ophthalmologic examinations, and EDI-OCT was conducted to measure macular CT (mCT) at the subfoveal locations and at 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mm superior, inferior, nasal and temporal to the fovea. The mean measurements at each location were used for analysis. Linear regression analysis was performed to analyse the correlation between the choroidal thickness and IOP, and the correlation between the choroidal thickness and episode time. RESULTS: The mean mCT was significantly thinner in affected eyes than in contralateral eyes in the acute phase (p = 0.010) but were not different in the remission phase (p = 0.404). The mean mCT was significantly increased in the remission phase compared to that in the acute phase in the affected eyes (p = 0.000). The mCT of healthy subjects was significantly thicker than in the affected eyes (p = 0.020) and similar to the fellow eyes of PSS patients (p = 0.357) in the acute phase. Linear regression analyses show negative correlations between the mCT changes and IOP changes in the affected eyes compared to those in the fellow eyes in the acute period (R2 = 0.396, p = 0.033) and between the mCT changes and IOP changes from the acute period to the remission period in the affected eyes (R2 = 0.372, p = 0.027). Linear regression analyses show positive correlations (age- and sex-matched) between the CT changes and episode time from the affected eyes to the fellow eyes in the acute period (R2 = 0.492, p = 0.012). CONCLUSIONS: The mCT values of the PSS-affected eyes were significantly thinner than those of the fellow eyes in the acute phase and in the remission phase, and this change was correlated with IOP reduction and episode time.

RESUMEN

Abstracts Purpose: Pirfenidone is mostly used in antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory therapies. We have previously demonstrated that pirfenidone had antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects on the wound healing process after glaucoma filtration surgery in vitro and in vivo. Since the wound healing and reactive scarring process simultaneously involves inflammation, fibrosis, and angiogenesis, and angiogenesis plays a more important role in chronic or prolonged wound healing, we tried to explore the antiangiogenesis effect in pirfenidone and its potential multitarget function in regulating excessive scarring. The aim of the present study was to investigate the antiangiogenesis effect of pirfenidone. METHODS: The proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and human Tenon's fibroblasts (HTFs) were detected by WST-1 assay. The cell viability of HUVECs was measured by Trypan Blue together with lactate dehydrogenase, Annexin 5 experiment, and Ki-67 immunofluorescence assay. The functions of HUVECs and HTFs were demonstrated using cell migration assay, transwell invasion assay, and tube formation assay. The expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), VEGF receptor-2 (VEGFR-2), neuropilin-1(NRP-1), and their downstream signaling proteins p-PI3K, PI3K, p-AKT, AKT, p-mTOR, and mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) were indicated by western blot assay. The secretion of VEGF-A was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: Pirfenidone inhibited proliferation, migration, invasion, and tube formation of HUVECs in vitro, and had an equivalent antiangiogenesis effect when compared with Ranibizumab in HUVECs and HTFs. Pirfenidone downregulated VEGF-A/VEGFR-2, VEGF-A/NRP-1, and its downstream signaling pathway protein expression. CONCLUSIONS: Pirfenidone has an antiangiogenesis effect in the wound healing process and may become an ideal multitarget antiscarring agent after glaucoma filtration surgery.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To investigate the underlying mechanism by which pirfenidone blocks the transition from the G1 to S phase in primary human Tenon's fibroblasts. METHODS: Primary human Tenon's fibroblasts were characterized by immunocytofluorescence staining with vimentin, fibroblast surface protein, and cytokeratin. After treating Tenon's fibroblasts with pirfenidone under proliferation conditions (10% fetal bovine serum), cell proliferation was measured using a WST-1 assay. Progression through the cell cycle was analyzed by flow cytometry. The expression of CDK2, CDK6, cyclinD1, cyclinD3, and cyclinE and the phosphorylation of AKT, ERK1/2/MAPK, JNK/MAPK, and p38 MAPK were estimated using western blot analysis. RESULTS: Under proliferative conditions, pirfenidone inhibited Tenon's fibroblasts proliferation and arrested the cell cycle at the G1 phase; decreased the phosphorylation of AKT, GSK3ß, ERK1/2/MAPK, and JNK/MAPK; increased the phosphorylation of p38 MAPK; and inhibited CDK2, CDK6, cyclin D1, cyclin D3, and cyclin E in a dose-dependent manner. Inhibitors of AKT (LY294002), ERK1/2 (U0126), and JNK (SP600125) arrested the G1/S transition, similar to the effect of pirfenidone. The p38 inhibitor (SB202190) decreased the G1-blocking effect of pirfenidone. The expression of CDK2, CDK6, cyclin D1, and cyclin D3 were inhibited by LY294002, U0126, and SP600125. SB202190 attenuated the pirfenidone-induced reduction of CDK2, CDK6, cyclin D1, cyclin D3, and cyclin E. CONCLUSIONS: Pirfenidone inhibited HTFs proliferation and induced G1 arrest by downregulating CDKs and cyclins involving the AKT/GSK3ß and MAPK signaling pathways.

RESUMEN

Exposure to high levels of iodide in Cangzhou, Shandong Province, China has been associated with increased incidence of thyroid disease; however, whether fluoride can affect the thyroid remains controversial. To investigate the effects of excess fluoride, we evaluated thyroid gland structure and function in rats exposed to fluoride and iodide, either alone or in combination. Five-week-old Wistar rats (n = 160 total) were randomly divided into eight groups: three groups that were given excess fluoride (15, 30, or 60 ppm F); one group given excess iodide (1200 µg/L I); three groups given excess iodide plus fluoride (1200 µg/L I plus 15, 30, or 60 ppm F); and one control group. The serum concentrations of the thyroid hormones TT3 and TT4 on day 150 were significantly reduced for certain fluoride groups; however, no significant differences were observed in concentrations for the pituitary hormone TSH among any groups. Hematoxylin and eosin staining revealed that iodide causes an increase in the areas of the colloid lumens and a decrease in the diameters of epithelial cells and nuclei; however, fluoride causes an increase in nuclear diameters. The damage to follicular epithelial cells upon fluoride or iodide treatment was easily observed by transmission electron microscopy, but the effects were most dramatic upon treatment with both fluoride and iodide. These results suggest that iodide causes the most damage but that fluoride can promote specific changes in the function and morphology of the thyroid, either alone or in combination with iodide.

RESUMEN

Phakomatosis pigmentovascularis (PPV) is a rare congenital malformation syndrome that is characterized by a combination of capillary abnormalities and dermal melanocytosis. We describe 3 cases of PPV combined with bilateral Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS), Ota nevus, and congenital glaucoma.Case 1 was a 2-year-old boy. Facial port-wine stains distributed along the 3 branches of his trigeminal nerves, which suggested the existence of SWS. Gray-blue patches were spread over the frontal and temporal areas of bilateral face, waist, buttocks, and thigh. Bilateral triangular alopecia was found on the temporal scalp. The diagnosis of Ota nevus was made by the bilateral scleral malanocystosis. Increased intraocular pressure, enlarged cornea, and pathologic optic disc cupping supported the diagnoses of infantile bilateral glaucoma. Case 2 was a 4-year-old boy. Port-wine stains were found on the face along the 3 branches of the trigeminal nerve and distributed along the trunk, arms, and legs. Mongolian spots spread over his frontal and temporal areas of the bilateral face, waist, buttocks, thigh, abdomen, and back. Infantile glaucoma was found in both eyes. Ota nevus were found in the both eyes. Optic coherent tomography (OCT) scans revealed increased thickness of choroid. Case 3 was a 5-year-old boy. Besides Ota nevus and infantile glaucoma in both eyes, color Doppler ultrasonography showed choroidal hemagioma. OCT scan showed increased choroidal thickness. The bilateral triangular alopecia on the child's temporal scalp was similar to that of Case 1. Cases 1 and 2 presented with port-wine stain patches that were consistent with the characteristic manifestation of PPV type IIb. However, the CMTC of Case 3 met the diagnostic criteria for PPV type Vb.Case 1 was treated with trabeculotomies in both eyes. For Cases 2 and 3, surgical interventions were not considered due to the high risks of antiglaucomatous operation complications. We prescribed them antiglaucoma indications. The simultaneously coexistence of PPV with SWS, Ota nevus, and congenital glaucoma is rare. In the clinic, additional detailed examinations and tests of PPV patients to exclude other ocular abnormalities or extraocular involvements are necessary.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To investigate the ability of composite graft of osteoblasts and HAP-GEL scaffolds to repair cranial bone defect. METHODS: HAP-GEL and osteoblasts were co-cultured. The rabbit cranial parietal bone defect models were established. HAP-GEL scaffolds and osteoblasts were implanted into the cranial bone defect with blank defect as negative control, autologous skull as positive control. After 4,8,12 weeks, the result was evaluated by gross inspection, three-dimensional computed tomographic scanning and histological examination, respectively. RESULTS: After 4, 8, 12 weeks, blank defects displayed significantly radiolucent area, HAP-GEL with osteoblasts and autologous skull restoration showed high density area, the edges were slightly blur. With time going by, part of the scaffolds were absorbed, and the new bone trabecular was observed in histological examination. In the control groups, only fibrous tissues were observed in the defect region, there was no new bone formation. CONCLUSIONS: the engineering bone constructed by osteoblasts and HAP-GEL scaffold can be applied to repair bone defect.
