RESUMEN

Cadaveric dissection is a unique and unrivalled educational tool that allows students in medicine and associated life sciences to explore spatial three-dimensional anatomy, principles of structure and related function, and anatomical variations, including pathological alterations. Human tissue dissection enables researchers to comprehend the variety that exists in life that cannot be appreciated through the literature or artificial specimens. Using cadavers is the best way to simulate surgical and anatomical teaching. A cadaver has been shown to imitate surgical and anatomical training better than any other existing method. By the use of soft embalming approaches, cadavers have become more realistic and training-friendly. The main aim of this review is to describe various innovative and recent cadaver preservation techniques in detail, which can help anatomists to modify the techniques in their institute for gross anatomy teaching and surgical training or workshops to get a lifelike cadaver.

RESUMEN

Schizophrenia is one of the major neuropsychiatric disorders affecting 1% of the population worldwide. Neuroinflammation, neurodevelopment, and oxidative stress are some of the crucial factors that can contribute to the pathogenesis of Schizophrenia. Klotho gene is an antiaging gene whose dysregulated expression can lead to Schizophrenia and aging-like symptoms in patients. Klotho gene expression is regulated by miRNA- 339, which might lead to expression changes of the klotho gene in schizophrenia patients. This study aimed to determine the Role of miRNA- 339-5p in the Regulation of Klotho Gene Expression and its Circulatory Levels in Schizophrenia. In this study total of 60 cases, schizophrenia patients and 30 healthy controls were recruited, and written informed consent was obtained from all the study subjects. The klotho gene and miRNA - 339-5p expressions were done using a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. And relative fold change expression was calculated by Livaak's method, that is 2^-double delta ct. It was found that the klotho gene is around 2.08 times upregulated as compared to healthy control, and miRNA- 339-5p was downregulated and showed an inverse relationship. The present study is the first to evaluate the klotho gene expression and correlate it with miRNA- 339-5p. Further confirmation of the results study should be planned with a large sample size and with drug naïve patients.

RESUMEN

Objective: To explore the psychological impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and associated lockdown on patients with psychiatric illness. Methods: An online survey-based cross-sectional study was conducted among patients receiving follow-up treatment at a tertiary care center from January to March 2020. The data were collected using a questionnaire about the possible challenges in 3 broad areas: treatment-related challenges, psychosocial difficulties, and concerns related to COVID-19.Results: The majority of patients (72.6%) reported a positive impact due to the increased availability of family support. Patients with depression and anxiety disorders (39.0%) experienced a more negative impact compared to those with psychotic disorders. Many of the psychiatric patients (22.6%) stopped medications and had difficulties accessing health services. Patients also experienced increased interpersonal conflict, sleep difficulties, and a surge in screen time. Conclusions: The findings highlight the difficulties faced by patients with psychiatric illnesses and emphasize the importance of family cohesion during times of crisis.

RESUMEN

Developmental screening is challenging in both developed countries and developing countries. An estimated 10% of children experience developmental delay leading to disability in India. Unfortunately, the Indian literature is limited regarding early identification and intervention of developmental delays in youngsters, given multiple barriers in implementing screening. Quick screening tools can easily be integrated into the routine work-up of infants and young children in the primary health-care system and the literature has shown the efficiency of early identification and intervention for children born with high-risk profiles. Therefore, validated screening tools may improve the early identification of developmental delay in young children, further enhancing the clinical outcome of children with developmental delays. India introduced the first development screening tool in 1991, the Baroda Development Screening Test (BDST), followed by Developmental Assessment Scale for Indian Infants (DASII), Trivandrum Development Screening Chart (TDSC). Indian researchers have adapted few development screening tools from standardized tools available from Western countries. This review highlights the different screening tools adapted in India, psychometric properties and adapted items to the gold standard, critical appraisal of most commonly used screening tools and description on strengths and limitations. The goal is to help clinicians understand the rationale behind each tool and the different domains evaluated as per the child's needs.

RESUMEN

Background and Objectives Despite the easy acceptability and holistic nature of Kriya yoga, there are no studies evaluating the role of Kriya yoga intervention on depression. The objective of the current study was to assess the feasibility and effect of adjunctive Kriya yoga on depression. Methods Patients with major depressive disorder who opted for Kriya yoga were recruited into the intervention group (adjunctive Kriya yoga) and those on psychotropic medication alone were enrolled into the control group. The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) measurements were recorded at baseline, end of 2, 4, and 8 weeks. Results HDRS scores of the intervention group ( n = 29) were found to be significantly lesser than that of the control group ( n = 52) by the end of 2, 4, and 8 weeks. The remission rate was also significantly greater in the intervention group. Conclusion Kriya yoga intervention was found to be feasible, as well as improved the severity of depression.

RESUMEN

Cleft of lip and palate are most common serial congenital anomalies to affect the orofacial region . It can occur isolated or together in various combination and/or along with other congenital deformities particularly congenital heart diseases. .Patient with oro-facial cleft deformity needs to be treated at right time and at right age to achieve functional and esthetic well being. Successful management of the child born with a cleft lip and palate requires coordinated care provided by a number of different specialties including oral/maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, genetics/dysmorphology, speech/language pathology, orthodontics, prosthodontics, and other. This article aims to the review the point primary care physicians in literature knowledge about cleft lip and palate. A review of literature have made to discuss introduction, epidemiology, clinical feature, etiology factor and management of cleft lip and palate.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Suicide is major public health issue worldwide. The educational interventions in enhancing the knowledge, modifying the attitudes, and raising the competence levels of healthcare professionals to prevent suicides have shown positive results. However, these education programs are under-evaluated, especially in India. AIM: The aim was to evaluate the effect on suicide prevention and management-related knowledge among nursing staff, attitudes, and competence for suicidal patients and their family members. METHODS: A brief suicide educational intervention training program was prepared for the study participants. The outcomes of this study were evaluated through a single group pre-test-post-test questionnaire. RESULT: The mean age of the participants was 28.74 ± 5.73 years. Participants reported significant improvement in their attitude and knowledge about suicide after attending the training program. CONCLUSION: Empowering primary health care staff including nurses to identify, assess, manage, and refer the suicidal person should be considered as an important step in suicide prevention.

RESUMEN

Childhood obesity is multi factorial health condition, so the simple evaluation of body fat will not be sufficed to manage the global epidemic of childhood obesity. Literature consistently provides evidence for physical health risks associated with childhood obesity; however in recent times, mental health of the obese children has also gained attention of the researchers as well as clinicians. Obese children experience number of psycho-social problems that significantly affect their quality of life and wellbeing. Co-morbid psychosocial and emotional problems of obesity generally act as causal or maintaining factors of obesity and thus significantly affect the treatment outcome. Therefore it becomes imperative for the clinicians/pediatricians to broaden their clinical assessment and include screening of important psycho-social factors within the clinical examination of childhood obesity. This article provides an evidence based comprehensive overview about the psychological factors and psychiatric factors (depression, anxiety, eating disorder, stress, body shape concerns, low self esteem) associated with childhood obesity that can further be utilized in the evaluation and management of this epidemic. The article also elaborates the role of current evidence based psychological approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for management of obesity in children and adolescents. CBT techniques combined with lifestyle intervention and involving parents have been recommended by literature repetitively. However, there are a number of environmental, familial and personal barriers that hinder the whole process of weight loss in children. The article also discusses potential strategies to overcome those barriers.

RESUMEN

The Na2S-mediated facile synthesis of terminal alkynes from gem-dibromoalkenes, at 20/40 °C under open flask conditions has been developed. Various precursors derived from heteroaromatic/aromatic/aliphatic aldehydes were found compatible. The reaction is proposed to proceed through the Fritsch-Buttenberg-Wiechell (FBW) rearrangement involving the corresponding vinyl carbene. Using mild reaction conditions with inexpensive Na2S·9H2O under air atmosphere has significant advantages over earlier routes.
