Background: Women's football has been booming for a few years now, which has led to an increase in the expectation of the players' performance, leading to a more detailed study of women's physiology in the field of sports. Objectives: To analyze the scientific evidence on the influence of menstruation on the performance of female footballers, as well as to analyze the methodological quality of the studies included in this review. Materials and methods: The possible hormonal effects of the menstrual cycle phases on the performance of female footballers were analyzed. The databases used to conduct the searches were Pubmed, Scopus, Virtual Health Library, Web of Science, EBSCO and the Cochrane Library. All included studies met the inclusion criteria. The Cochrane risk of bias tool was used. This systematic review protocol was registered at the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO: CRD42023390652). Results: A total of nine clinical trials were included in this review. A low quality of evidence was observed in the studies. Not all the results support the idea that the menstrual cycle phases can alter the performance of female footballers. Conclusion: This systematic review shows that there is a great deal of controversy about the influence of the menstrual cycle phases on the performance of female footballers. Studies are focused on solely biological factors and gender is normally no part of those studies. Further research with larger samples, and taking not only biological but also sociological factors, are necessary to determine the effects of menstruation on the performance of female footballers.

This systematic review aims to find effectful healthcare strategies, with special focus on drug-free interventions and physical therapy, as part of the treatment for sleep in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain. Data search was conducted across seven scientific databases. This review is deposited in the Prospero International prospective register of systematic reviews (CRD42023452574). Seventeen RCTs from different healthcare fields complied with our inclusion criteria. Two RCTs investigated manual therapy, five RCTs therapeutic exercise, one RCT Fu's subcutaneous needling, two RCTs physical agents (one on balneotherapy and one on cryo-stimulation), two RCTs cognitive-behavioral therapy, and four RCTs pharmacological therapy and their effect on sleep quality and/or quantity in patients suffering from chronic pain. We included the four RCT's in this systematic review with the purpose to be able to compare natural interventions with allopathic ones. As allopathic interventions are more prone to have secondary negative effects than physical therapy, compare the two types of interventions could be in favor of choosing the most effective treatment with the least secondary negative effects. Additionally, two RCTs on neurofeedback and limbic neuromodulation were also included. The results of the included studies suggest that strategies such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, Fu's subcutaneous needling, balneotherapy, cryo-stimulation, neurofeedback, limbic neuromodulation, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and pharmacological therapies have positive effects on patients suffering from chronic pain and sleep disturbances, especially when they suffer musculoskeletal pain. Secondary negative effects were found for the possible overuse of certain medicines such as morphine, a huge problem in the United States. Sleep deficiency is an independent risk factor for many diseases, including chronic pain syndrome and therefore more studies are needed to find non-toxic interventions for people suffering sleep disorders associated with systemic diseases and pain.

Frozen shoulder (FS), also known as adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder (FS), is a fibrotic inflammatory process of unknown etiology whose main symptoms are pain, stiffness and the loss of joint mobility. These symptoms may be associated with pathologies such as diabetes, Dupuytren's syndrome and the prevalence of today's sedentary lifestyle. This literature review provides an overview of the epidemiology and pathogenesis of this pathology, as well as the mechanisms of lowgrade chronic inflammation and infection, insulin resistance, and omics-science associated with it. We also propose a new hypothesis related to the possibility that the GABAergic system could play a decisive role in the development of frozen shoulder and that therefore diabetes type 1, endocrinological autoimmune disorders and frozen shoulder are connected by the same pathophysiological mechanisms. If that is true, the combined presence of psycho-emotional stress factors and pathogenic immune challenges could be the main causes of frozen shoulder syndrome. Finally, we propose a series of possible intervention strategies based on a multifactorial etiological and mechanistic concept.

INTRODUCTION: Insulin resistance (IR), a key aspect of type 2 diabetes and a defining characteristic of obesity and its associated conditions, emerges as a mechanistic pathway potentially implicated in cancer pathophysiology. This presents an appealing intervention target for cancer patients. The objective of this study is to conduct a systematic review, examining the scientific evidence regarding the impact of physical activity on modifying insulin resistance in individuals with cancer. METHODS: The selection criteria were specific: only randomized controlled clinical trials published in the last 13 years and written in English or Spanish were included. The databases utilized for the search included PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, EBSCO, and WEB OF SCIENCE. The protocol for this review was duly registered in the International Register of Systematic Reviews (CRD42023435002). The final search was conducted on 14 May 2023. RESULTS: The outcomes were assessed using the tool proposed by the Cochrane Handbook to evaluate the risk of bias in the included studies. Among the 12 studies incorporated, 8 demonstrated a low risk of bias, two had an unclear risk of bias, and the remaining two showed a high risk of bias. The variety of exercise types used across all studies was extensive, making definitive conclusions challenging. Physical activity was linked to enhanced insulin sensitivity in seven studies, while five studies showed no significant changes in insulin resistance between the intervention and control groups. Importantly, none of the interventions employed in the included studies exhibited adverse effects on the study participants. CONCLUSIONS: The role of exercise as a medicine against insulin resistance has been evidenced in many different studies, mostly related to obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Engaging in physical activity could be a healthy option to combat the effects of insulin resistance in cancer patients, although evidence is weak and limited, according to the results of our systemic review. We further found that literature is lacking at the level of optimal doses, timing, and type of exercise. More studies are needed with more defined PA programs in type and length.

Avocado fruit is a climacteric fruit that has a short life after harvest. Chitosan (Ch) and Arabic gum (AG) have a pronounced effect on the storability of fruits. This investigation aimed to determine the effect of individual or combined use of Ch and AG as well as Ch/AG enriched with 2, 4, 8% Zn-NPs on physio-biochemical attributes and antioxidant capacity of Hass avocado fruit during cold storage (7 °C). The result showed that Ch or AG alone succeeded in maintaining fruit quality of Hass fruit during cold storage. Also, combined application of Ch/AG was more effective than individual application of Ch or AG in reducing fruit weight and polyphenol oxidase activity (PPO) as well as increasing total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and malondialdehyde (MDA). Moreover, Ch/AG coating enriched with 8% Zn-NPs recorded the lowest fruit weight loss, fruit decay %, TSS fruit content, fruit firmness and improved fruit skin and pulp color significantly compared to Ch/AG and control. Coating with Ch/AG/2%Zn NPs recorded the highest peroxidase (POD) activity, while Ch/AG/8% Zn-NPs recorded the highest TAC and the lowest PPO activity. Moreover, enriched Ch/GA with Zn-NPs recorded the highest CAT and POD activity compared to the control. This study shows the efficiency of Ch/AG enriched with Zn-NPs on preserving Hass avocado fruit quality during cold storage by delaying ripening process and activating enzymatic defense mechanisms.

Objectives Fistula-in-ano is a common condition that negatively affects the quality of life of its sufferers. A high anal fistula poses a significant challenge for surgeons due to its proximity to the anorectal ring and the potential risk of incontinence rather than recurrence. Many modalities have been used in a justified search for a satisfactory cure for the condition, but the seton remains a mainstay of surgical treatment. Therefore, the rationale of this study is to assess the outcome of treating a high anal fistula using the cutting seton technique in a hospital in Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The evaluation is intended through a retrospective analysis of patients' outcomes, comparing its effectiveness to similar articles. Methods This is a retrospective study that includes 50 patients with high anal fistulas who were treated with a cutting seton at the National Guard Hospital over a four-year period (2019-2022). Information obtained from medical records included clinical and demographic data. The data collected during the study was compiled and statistically analyzed using the SPSS Statistics version 26.0 (IBM Corp. Released 2019. IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 26.0. Armonk, NY: IBM Corp.). A p-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results A total of 50 patients with high anal fistula treated with a cutting seton were included: 82% were males and 18% were females, with 66% below 45 years of age. Approximately 92% had inter-sphincteric fistulas, and only 28% had a recurrent fistula. Almost all patients (98%) had an MRI done before surgery. Around 70% of patients were completely cured, 26% had minor complications, 8% of the operated patients experienced mild incontinence, and only one recurrence (2%). Conclusion The cutting seton is still a valid modality in treating patients with a high anal fistula, as it is considerably safe, effective, and yields good outcomes. Standard preoperative assessment and thorough surgical techniques are cornerstones for achieving a satisfactory outcome.

The study aims to assess groundwater resources in Sinai's central area using remote sensing, geoelectric, and well-logging data, utilising techniques for modelling hydrogeological frameworks and evaluating desert regions' groundwater potential. Its utilized satellite image sources, soil maps, and geological maps to map the effects of various factors on groundwater potentiality recharge, dividing it into five zones. Eighteen deep VES stations were used to examine the upper part of the groundwater aquifer in Central Sinai, Egypt, comparing it with available borehole information (Well-1, and JICA-1) to establish subsurface geology and hydro-geology positioning. Borehole data, VES interpretation results, hydro-geophysical maps, and four geoelectrical cross-sections were used to visualize the rearward expansion of eight lithological units, groundwater-bearing sections, and aquifer-filled thicknesses. From interpretation data output reveal three zones with significant recharge and storage potential, including two groundwater aquifers. The shallow aquifer has a saturation thickness of the fractured limestone of 35-250 m, while the deep aquifer Nubian sandstone is detected at depths ranging from 660-1030 m. NW-SE and NE-SW faults likely recharge conduits connecting shallow and deep aquifers, providing sites with acceptable groundwater potential for living, agriculture, and development in Sinai.

INTRODUCTION: Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide, with the most frequent being breast cancer in women, prostate cancer in men and colon cancer in both sexes. The use of metabolomics to find new biomarkers can provide knowledge about possible interventions based on the presence of oncometabolites in different cancer types. OBJECTIVES: The primary purpose of this review is to analyze the characteristic metabolome of three of the most frequent cancer types. We further want to identify the existence and success rate of metabolomics-based intervention in patients suffering from those cancer types. Our conclusions are based on the analysis of the methodological quality of the studies. METHODS: We searched for studies that investigated the metabolomic characteristics in patients suffering from breast cancer, prostate cancer or colon cancer in clinical trials. The data were analyzed, as well as the effects of specific interventions based on identified metabolomics and one or more oncometabolites. The used databases were PubMed, Virtual Health Library, Web of Science, EBSCO and Cochrane Library. Only nine studies met the selection criteria. Study bias was analyzed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. This systematic review protocol was registered at the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO: CRD42023401474). RESULTS: Only nine studies about clinical trials were included in this review and show a moderate quality of evidence. Metabolomics-based interventions related with disease outcome were conflictive with no or small changes in the metabolic characteristics of the different cancer types. CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review shows some interesting results related with metabolomics-based interventions and their effects on changes in certain cancer oncometabolites. The small number of studies we identified which fulfilled our inclusion criteria in this systematic review does not allow us to draw definitive conclusions. Nevertheless, some results can be considered as promising although further research is needed. That research must focus not only on the presence of possible oncometabolites but also on possible metabolomics-based interventions and their influence on the outcome in patients suffering from breast cancer, prostate cancer or colon cancer.

Introduction: The objective of this systematic review was to analyze the existing scientific evidence on the influence of dietary strategies, exercise, and sleep disorders on the symptomatology of patients with chronic shoulder pain, as well as to assess the methodological quality of the literature collected. Methods: The selection criteria were as follows: we included randomized controlled clinical trials written in English that investigated the effects of such interventions in patients with chronic shoulder pain and excluded studies where pre-operative rehabilitation or rehabilitation combined with corticosteroid injections was performed. We searched six databases Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CINAHL, Sportdiscus and Scopus, using the keywords "shoulder pain," "fasting," "physical therapy modalities," "rehabilitation," "exercise," "circadian clocks," and "chronic pain" to select randomized controlled clinical trials conducted in humans and written in English. The last search was conducted on 24/01/2023. (PROSPERO:CRD42023379925). Results: We used the tool proposed by the Cochrane Handbook to assess the risk of bias in the included studies of the 17 studies included, nine had a high risk of bias, two studies had an unclear risk of bias, and the remaining six studies had a low risk of bias. A total of 17 articles were selected, including 10 studies that showed a positive influences of exercise on chronic shoulder pain and five studies that showed a negative influence of sleep disorders on this patient profile. The remaining two articles analyzed the influence of nutritional strategies and metabolic problems in patients with chronic shoulder pain. The total sample size of the 17 included articles amounted to 9,991 individuals. Discussion: Studies confirm that exercise generates a hypoalgesic effect that improves chronic shoulder pain, functionality, and quality of life. Although dietary strategies and sleep disorders are known to influence chronic shoulder pain, there is a lack of studies that conduct interventions on these problems to assess how chronic shoulder pain varies.

Adhesive capsulitis, characterized by progressive fibrosis, causes a gradual, painful loss of both active and passive articular motion, leading to the final contracture of the joint capsule. The condition commonly referred to as "frozen ankle" (FA), which Goldman was the first to use, relates to the ankle joint and is challenging to both diagnose and treat. Data acquired from people who suffer from this type of damage in other joints such as the shoulder, hip, and wrist also exists. Despite the fact that a well-defined model for the medical management of FA does not exist, a wide spectrum of local treatments, both surgical and non-surgical, exist. This review gives an overview of the current scientific position of the frozen ankle in terms of evolutionary factors, etiology, the different mechanisms of action involved, current treatment options, and other possible interventions based on recent discoveries of pathophysiological mechanisms. The application of extracorporeal shockwave therapy, stretching exercises, and corticosteroid injections combined with physical therapy modalities that enhance pain management, range of motion, and functional capacity is highly advisable for the treatment of adhesive capsulitis, commonly known as "frozen joints". Furthermore, the addition of interventions both impacting and analyzing chronic hypoxia, low-grade inflammation, and sedentary life is proposed.

Objectives: Given that deficiency in B vitamins can lead to the accumulation of homocysteine (Hcy), and hyperhomocysteinemia may have a role in migraine pathogenesis, the present prospective randomized double-blinded placebo-controlled trial aimed to evaluate the effect of vitamin B-complex supplementation on the alleviation of migraine in children through a possible reduction in Hcy levels. Materials & Methods: Ninety children under 15 years of age suffering from typical migraine were included in the present trial. They were randomly assigned into two groups (forty-five patients in each group) to receive either vitamin B-complex or a matching placebo for six months. Serum Hcy levels and headache characteristics were evaluated and compared before and after administering vitamin B-complex or placebo. Results: Unlike the placebo group, the monthly headache frequency, severity of headache, headache disability, and serum Hcy levels were significantly decreased after the vitamin administration. The headache duration was not significantly different before and after the treatment. In the vitamin group, there were significant positive correlations between the frequency and severity, frequency and disability, and severity and disability of headaches. Hcy also had significant positive correlations with the frequency and disability of headaches. In the placebo group, the only found significant correlation was between headache frequency and disability. Conclusion: The administration of vitamin B-complex might effectively relieve migraine severity in children by reducing serum Hcy. However, further studies are needed to confirm the results.

BACKGROUND: Choosing the most compatible and desirable rootstock for Kalamata olive cultivar is an important decision due to the longevity of the orchard and the difficulty rooting of Kalamata cuttings. Therefore, the goal of this study was to examine the morphological, physio-biochemical, and nutritional status as ppotential markers for grafting compatibility between Kalamata olive cultivar and three olive rootstocks (Coratina, Picual, Manzanillo) during two seasons (2020-2021) as well as follow up physio-bichemical and nutritional status of one-year-old Kalamata plants (2022). RESULTS: The results indicated that, Picual rootstock recorded the highest significant grafting success which was associated with increasing number of leaves, leaf area and SPAD value in Kalamata scions by 22.15%, 36.86% and 14.64% compared to Manzanillo rootstock as mean of both seasons, respectively. While, Manzanillo rootstock recorded the highest significant activity for peroxidase and catalase by 51.41% and 60.1% at grafting union compared to Picual rootstock. Moreover, Picual rootstock for Kalamata scions had the highest acid invertase and sucrose synthase activities by 67.23% and 57.94% compared to Manzanillo rootstock. Furthermore, Picual rootstock recorded the highest significant Gibberellic acid by 52.8% and 18.6% compared to Coratina and Manzanillo rootstocks. Meanwhile, Picual rootstock recorded the lowest significant Abscisic acid by 68.17% and 63.15% as well as the lowest total phenols by 14.36% and 23.47% compared to Coratina and Manzanillo rootstocks. CONCLUSIONS: This study sheds light for the importance of choosing the suitable rootstock for Kalamata cultivar. Also, sucrose synthase and acid invertase may have a novel role in determining grafting compatibility in olives. Increasing growth promoters (Gibberellic, Nitrogen) and decreasing both growth inhibitors (Abscisic, phenols) and oxidative enzyme (catalase, peroxidase) required for better graft compatibility.

Background: The occurrence of aflatoxins in food products is a silent threat to human health worldwide. A range of strategies has been introduced to address the bioavailability of aflatoxins, which are considered microbial tools to provide a low-cost and promising approach. Objectives: The present study focused on the separation of yeast strains from the homemade cheese rind layer to investigate the ability of native yeasts to eliminate AB1 and AM1 from simulated gastrointestinal fluids. Material and Methods: Homemade cheese samples were prepared from different locations in Tehran provinces and yeast strains were isolated and identified through the biochemical methods and molecular analysis of internal transcribed spacer and D1/D2 domain of 26S rDNA regions. Isolated strains were screened using simulated gastrointestinal fluids, and the ability of yeast strains to absorb aflatoxin was evaluated. Results: Out of 13 strains, 7 yeast strains were not affected by 5 ppm AFM1 while 11 strains did not show any significant response to 5 mg.L-1 (ppm) of AFB1. On the other hand, 5 strains were able to successfully tolerate 20 ppm AFB1. Candidate yeasts showed different abilities to remove aflatoxins B1 and M1. In addition, C. lusitaniae, G. geotrichum, G. candidum, and C. sanyaensis exhibited a significant ability to detoxify aflatoxins from the gastrointestinal fluid, respectively. Conclusion: Our data suggest that yeast communities with essential effects on the quality of homemade cheese appear to be precise candidates for the potential elimination of aflatoxins from the gastrointestinal fluid.

The main objective of this literature review was to analyze the efficacy of (PBM) therapy application on subjects with chronic pain and inflammation, and furthermore, to evaluate the methodological quality of the collected literature. The search was conducted using five databases: PubMed, ProQuest, Scopus, Web of Science, and PEDro. The keywords "low level laser therapy", "chronic pain", and "inflammation" provided the selection of RCTs that were published within the last 5 years, conducted in humans, and written in English. The PEDro Internal Validity Scale (IVS) checklist was used to evaluate the risk of bias in the included studies. A total of 11 articles were selected, all of them RCTs. Of the articles, five showed that PBM positively influences chronic pain, while another showed the same but only in the short term. In two other articles, the patient's inflammation improved markedly. In one article there was no improvement in chronic pain and in another, there was no improvement in inflammation. Four articles demonstrated that PBM is beneficial in acute pain. Furthermore, six studies were given an "excellent" score and the remaining five a "good" score based on the IVS. Photobiomodulation has beneficial effects on chronic pain and inflammation, although more research needs to be completed in this line for this to be clarified as the existence of RCTs on this subject is limited.

Antibiotics have completely transformed medical practice by enabling the treatment of infections that were formerly fatal. However, misuse of antibiotics encourages the formation and spread of germs that are resistant to therapy, hastening the emergence of bacterial resistance. This was a retrospective study that aimed to gather information about the variation in bacterial susceptibility of various patient age groups in a public hospital in Qassim, Saudi Arabia from January 2020 to December 2021. The study included reviewing bacterial susceptibility results that were collected from the laboratory department of the hospital. Four thousand seven hundred and sixty-two isolates were collected. The age of 46.41% of the patients was more than 63 years and the age of 28.96% of the patients was less than 48 years. The most prevalent bacteria were Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The resistance of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria to different antibiotics in the elderly group was generally higher than the resistance rates in younger patients. For example, in patients less than 48 years old, the resistance of Staphylococcus haemolyticus to clindamycin (53.3%), ampicillin (91.4%), ciprofloxacin (68.2%), erythromycin (86.1%), and penicillin (93.18%) was high. In patients aged more than 63 years, Staphylococcus haemolyticus was highly resistant to sulfamethoxazole (54.8%), clindamycin (63.9%), ampicillin (98.1%), ciprofloxacin (79.1%), erythromycin (93.2%), gentamicin (63.6%), and penicillin (98.7%). Before prescribing the antibiotics, it is important to assess the microbes that patients have and to be aware of the bacterial isolates' patterns of antibiotic susceptibility among patients of various age groups.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: The management of retained gunshot injury in the liver is not properly discussed in the literature. CASE PRESENTATION: We describe a rare case of intrahepatic retained foreign body (bullet). Our patient is a 39-year old Yemeni soldier, who was exposed to firearm injury 10 months previously. The patient sought medical advice to extract the foreign body, and it was successfully extracted through abdominal exploration, with no intraoperative or postoperative complications. DISCUSSION: Retained liver foreign bodies have three types, penetrating, medical, and migrating. Before the removal of the foreign body, good patient evaluation along with good surgical expertise should be present. CONCLUSION: There is a need for general guidelines to manage such patients who should be assessed by high volume surgeons.

The buried or hidden penis in adults is troublesome in males, whereas the length of the penile shaft is buried under the skin surface of the suprapubic fat to a degree that reveals the concept of a little penis. We aimed to assess a new modality of treatment to increase the apparent penile length by using the cryolipolysis in the reduction of male suprapubic fat as a noninvasive procedure. This prospective study was performed on 46 male patients complaining of buried short apparent small size penis. All patients were subjected to full medical history, body mass index and examination of penile (length, size and abnormalities). The measures of the apparent penile length from the skin to the tip of the glans penis and suprapubic skin fold thickness using (adipometer) were recorded before the three consecutive suprapubic cryolipolysis sessions. The mean apparent stretched penile length at session 1, 2 and 3 were 12.1 ± 0.5 cm, 12.66 ± 0.48 and 12.88 ± 0.72, respectively, with a statistically significant increase between three sessions (p < .001), whereas the mean skin fold suprapubic fat at session 1, 2 and 3 was 2.99 ± 0.49 cm, 2.37 ± 0.48 and 2 ± 0.37, respectively, with a statistically significant decrease (p < .001). The cryolipolysis of suprapubic fat is a safe, effective, noninvasive and applicable procedure that successfully decreases the suprapubic fat in males and increases the apparent length of the buried penises.

AIM: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of mini abdominoplasty with liposuction under local tumescent anaesthesia (LA) as the sole anaesthetic modality. METHODS: The study included 60 female patients with a mean age of 33.3 ± 5.6 years. Local infiltration using a mixture of 1:1000 epinephrine (1 ml), 2% lidocaine (100 ml) and 0.5% Levobupivacaine (50 ml) in 2500 ml saline was started with Local infiltration started with the abdomen, outer thigh, hips, back, inner thighs and knees. After Mini Abdominoplasty with supplemental liposuction was conducted and application of suction drains wound closure was performed, and the tight bandage was applied. Pain during injection, incision and surgical manipulations was determined. Duration of postoperative analgesia, till oral intake and return home, patients and surgeon satisfaction scores were determined. RESULTS: All surgeries were conducted completely without conversion to general anaesthesia. Injection pain was mild in 46 patients, moderate in 10 and hardly tolerated in 4 patients. Incision pain was mild in 16 patients, while 44 patients reported no sensation. During the surgical procedure, 6 patients required an additional dose of LA. Meantime till resumption of oral intake was 1.6 ± 0.9 hours. Meantime till home return was 5.6 ± 2.4 hours. Twelve patients were highly satisfied, 18 patients were satisfied, and these 42 patients were willing to repeat the trial if required. Eight patients found the trial is good and only one patient refused to repeat the trial and was dissatisfied, for a mean total satisfaction score of 3.1 ± 0.9. CONCLUSION: Mini Abdominoplasty with liposuction could be conducted safely under tumescent LA with mostly pain-free intraoperative and PO courses and allowed such surgical procedure to be managed as an office procedure. The applied anaesthetic procedure provided patients' satisfaction with varying degrees in about 97% of studied patients.

AIM: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different implant angulations in posterior maxilla on stress distribution by finite element analysis and verify its results experimentally. METHODS: Two simplified models were prepared for an implant placed vertically and tilted 25° piercing the maxillary sinus. Geometric models' components were prepared by Autodesk Inventor then assembled in ANSYS for finite element analysis. The results of finite element analysis were verified against experimental trials results which were statistically analysed using student t-test (level of significance p < 0.05). RESULTS: Implant - abutment complex absorbed the load energy in case of vertical implant better than the case of angulated one. That was reflected on cortical bone stress, while both cases showed stress levels within the physiological limits. Comparing results between FEA and experiment trials showed full agreement. CONCLUSION: It was found that the tilted implant by 25° can be utilised in the posterior region maxilla for replacing maxillary first molar avoiding sinus penetration. The implant-bone interface and peri-implant bones received the highest Von Mises stress. Implant - bone interface with angulated implant received about 66% more stresses than the straight one.

ABSTRACT Introduction Penile curvature (PC) can be surgically corrected by either corporoplasty or plication techniques. These techniques can be complicated by post-operative: penile shortening, recurrent PC, painful/palpable suture knots and erectile dysfunction. Objective To avoid the complications of corporoplasty and plication techniques using a new technique: combined plication-incision (CPI). Materials and Methods Two groups (1&2) were operated upon: group 1 using CPI and group 2 using the 16-dot technique. In CPI, dots were first marked as in 16 dot technique. In each group of 4 dots the superficial layer of tunica albuginea was transversely incised (3-6mm) at the first and last dots. Ethibond 2/0, passed through the interior edge of the first incision plicating the intermediate 2 dots and passed out of the interior edge of the last incision, was tightened and ligated. Vicryle 4/0, passed through the exterior edges of the incisions, was tightened and ligated to cover the ethibond knot. Results Twelve (57.1 %) participants in group 2 complained of a bothering palpable knot compared to none in group 1 with statistically significant difference (P=0.005). Postoperative shortening (5mm) of erect penis, encountered in 9 participants, was doubled in group 2 but with insignificant difference (P>0.05). Post-operative recurrence of PC, was encountered in only 1 (4.8%) participant in group 2, compared to none in group 1, with insignificant difference (P>0.05). Post-operative erectile rigidity was normally maintained in all participants. Conclusion The new technique was superior to the 16-dot technique for correction of PC.
