RESUMEN

Despite the pivotal role of stannum doping in achieving ultrahigh piezoelectric performance in barium titanate-based ceramics, the fundamental mechanisms underlying this enhancement remain elusive. Here, we introduce a single variable nonstoichiometric stannum strategy in lead-free barium titanate-based ceramics with giant piezoelectricity, revealing that stannum doping contributes intrinsically and extrinsically to enhance piezoelectricity. Density functional theory calculations elucidate the intrinsic enhancement of polarization arising from lattice distortion and increased space for titanium-oxygen bonds induced by optimal stannum doping, which is corroborated by Rayleigh analysis. A phase transition from ferroelectric multiphase coexistence to paraelectric phase is observed, alongside a rapid miniaturized and eventually disappeared domains with increasing stannum doping. This evolution in phase structure and domain configuration induces a nearly vanishing polarization anisotropy and low domain wall energy, facilitating easy polarization rotation and domain wall motion, thereby significantly contributing to the extrinsic piezoelectric response. Consequently, the origins of ultrahigh performance can be attributed to the synergistic effect of stannum-induced intrinsic and extrinsic contributions in barium titanate-based ceramics. This study provides fundamental insights into the role of doping elements and offers guidance for the design of high-performance piezoelectrics.

Achieving a narrow emission bandwidth is long pursued for display applications. Among all primary colors, obtaining pure red emission with high visual perception is the most challenging. In this work, CsPbI3 halide perovskite nanoplatelets (NPLs) with rigorously controlled 2D  [PbI6]4- octahedron layer number (n) are demonstrated. A perovskite core-PbSO4 shell structure is designed to prevent aggregation and fusion between NPLs, enabling consistent thickness and quantum confinement strength for each NPL. Consequently, exact n = 4 CsPbI3 NPLs are demonstrated, exhibiting emission peaks around 630 nm, with very narrow spectral bandwidths of <24 nm and high absolute photoluminescence quantum yields up to 85%. The emission of n = 4 NPLs falls exactly within the pure-red region, closely aligning with the International Telecommunication Union Recommendation BT.2020  standard. Measurements suggest predominant stability and color homogeneity compared to traditional red-emitting CsPbIxBr3- x nanocrystals. Finally, proof-of-concept pure-red emissive light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are demonstrated by integrating n = 4 CsPbI3 NPLs films with a blue LED chip, showing an excellent external quantum efficiency of 18.3% and high brightness exceeding 3 × 106 nits. Stringent requirements for future display technologies, are satisfied based on the high color purity, stability, and brightness of CsPbI3 NPLs.

Fragile X syndrome (FX) is the most prevalent inheritable form of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), characterized by hypersensitivity, difficulty in habituating to new sensory stimuli, and intellectual disability. Individuals with FX often experience visual perception and learning deficits. Visual experience leads to the emergence of the familiarity-evoked theta band oscillations in the primary visual cortex (V1) and the lateromedial area (LM) of mice. These theta oscillations in V1 and LM are synchronized with each other, providing a mechanism of sensory multi-areal binding. However, how this multi-areal binding and the corresponding theta oscillations are altered in FX is not known. Using iDISCO whole brain clearing with light-sheet microscopy, we quantified immediate early gene Fos expression in V1 and LM, identifying deficits in experience-dependent neural activity in FX mice. We performed simultaneous in vivo recordings with silicon probes in V1 and LM of awake mice and channelrhodopsin-2-assisted circuit mapping (CRACM) in acute brain slices to examine the neural activity and strength of long-range synaptic connections between V1 and LM in both wildtype (WT) and Fmr1 knockout (KO) mice, the model of FX, before and after visual experience. Our findings reveal synchronized familiarity-evoked theta oscillations in V1 and LM, the increased strength of V1→LM functional and synaptic connections, which correlated with the corresponding changes of presynaptic short-term plasticity in WT mice. The LM oscillations were attenuated in FX mice and correlated with impaired functional and synaptic connectivity and short-term plasticity in the feedforward (FF) V1→LM and feedback (FB) LM→V1 pathways. Finally, using 4Pi single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM) in thick brain tissue, we identified experience-dependent changes in the density and shape of dendritic spines in layer 5 pyramidal cells of WT mice, which correlated with the functional synaptic measurements. Interestingly, there was an increased dendritic spine density and length in naïve FX mice that failed to respond to experience. Our study provides the first comprehensive characterization of the role of visual experience in triggering inter-areal neural synchrony and shaping synaptic connectivity in WT and FX mice.

BACKGROUND: R2R3-MYB transcription factors belong to one of the largest gene subfamilies in plants, and they are involved in diverse biological processes. However, the role of R2R3-MYB transcription factor subfamily genes in the response of rice (Oryza sativa L.) to salt stress has been rarely reported. RESULTS: In this study, we performed a genome-wide characterization and expression identification of rice R2R3-MYB transcription factor subfamily genes. We identified a total of 117 R2R3-MYB genes in rice and characterized their gene structure, chromosomal location, and cis-regulatory elements. According to the phylogenetic relationships and amino acid sequence homologies, the R2R3-MYB genes were divided into four groups. qRT-PCR of the R2R3-MYB genes showed that the expression levels of 10 genes significantly increased after 3 days of 0.8% NaCl treatment. We selected a high expression gene OsMYB2-115 for further analysis. OsMYB2-115 was highly expressed in the roots, stem, leaf, and leaf sheath. OsMYB2-115 was found to be localized in the nucleus, and the yeast hybrid assay showed that OsMYB2-115 has transcriptional activation activity. CONCLUSION: This result provides important information for the functional analyses of rice R2R3-MYB transcription factor subfamily genes related to the salt stress response and reveals that OsMYB2-115 may be an important gene associated with salt tolerance in rice.

The interlayer strategy has emerged as an effective approach for modulating the interfacial polymerization process and improving the permeability and selectivity of polyamide membranes. However, the underlying mechanisms by which charged interlayers influence the interfacial polymerization process remain inadequately understood. In this study, we utilized two distinct charged cellulose nanofibers, namely, carboxylated cellulose (⊖-CNF) and quaternized cellulose ([Formula: see text]-CNF), as interlayers to regulate the interfacial polymerization process. Through simulation results, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and UV tests, we demonstrated that the [Formula: see text]-CNF interlayer, which possesses stronger hydration capability and better piperazine affinity, enhanced the diffusion of piperazine across the reaction interface compared with the ⊖-CNF interlayer. This led to an acceleration of the interfacial polymerization process and the formation of a denser membrane structure. Further investigation revealed that the charged interlayers significantly influenced the surface charging properties of the resulting nanofiltration membranes within a 30 nm range of electrostatic effects. Specifically, the ⊖-CNF interlayer conferred a higher negative charge to the membrane surface, while the [Formula: see text]-CNF interlayer endowed the membranes with a lower surface negative charge. Leveraging these differences, the ⊖-i-TFC membranes exhibited exceptional separation performance for divalent anions, achieving a SO42-/Cl- selectivity of 136. Conversely, the [Formula: see text]-i-TFC membrane demonstrated an enhanced separation of divalent cations, displaying a Mg2+/Na+ selectivity of 3.5. This study lays the groundwork for regulating the surface charging properties of polyamide membranes, offering potential advancements in nanofiltration applications.

Obesity has shown a global epidemic trend. The high-lipid state caused by obesity can maintain the heart in a prolonged low-grade inflammatory state and cause ventricular remodeling, leading to a series of pathologies, such as hypertrophy, fibrosis, and apoptosis, which eventually develop into obese cardiomyopathy. Therefore, prolonged low-grade inflammation plays a crucial role in the progression of obese cardiomyopathy, making inflammation regulation an essential strategy for treating this disease. Cyy-272, an indazole derivative, is an anti-inflammatory compound independently synthesized by our laboratory. Our previous studies revealed that Cyy-272 can exert anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the phosphorylation and activation of C-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), thereby alleviating lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI). The current study aimed to evaluate the potential of Cyy-272 to mitigate the occurrence and progression of obese cardiomyopathy through the inhibition of the JNK signaling pathway. Our results indicate that the compound Cyy-272 has encouraging therapeutic effects on obesity-induced cardiac injury. It significantly inhibits inflammation in cardiomyocytes and heart tissues induced by high lipid concentrations, further alleviating the resulting hypertrophy, fibrosis, and apoptosis. Mechanistically, the protective effect of Cyy-272 on obese cardiomyopathy can be attributed to its direct inhibition of JNK protein phosphorylation. In conclusion, we identified a novel compound, Cyy-272, capable of alleviating obese cardiomyopathy and confirmed that its effect is achieved through direct inhibition of JNK.

Purpose: How cortical functional reorganization occurs after hearing loss in preschool children with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (CSNHL) is poorly understood. Therefore, we used resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) to explore the characteristics of cortical reorganization in these patents. Methods: Sixty-three preschool children with CSNHL and 32 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited, and the Categories of Auditory Performance (CAP) scores were determined at the 6-month follow-up after cochlear implantation (CI). First, rs-fMRI data were preprocessed, and amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo) were calculated. Second, whole-brain functional connectivity (FC) analysis was performed using bilateral primary auditory cortex as seed points. Finally, Spearman correlation analysis was performed between the differential ALFF, ReHo and FC values and the CAP score. Results: ALFF analysis showed that preschool children with CSNHL had lower ALFF values in the bilateral prefrontal cortex and superior temporal gyrus than HCs, but higher ALFF values in the bilateral thalamus and calcarine gyrus. And correlation analysis showed that some abnormal brain regions were weak negatively correlated with CAP score (p < 0.05). The ReHo values in the bilateral superior temporal gyrus, part of the prefrontal cortex and left insular gyrus were lower, whereas ReHo values in the bilateral thalamus, right caudate nucleus and right precentral gyrus were higher, in children with CSNHL than HCs. However, there was no correlation between ReHo values and the CAP scores (p < 0.05). Using primary auditory cortex (PAC) as seed-based FC further analysis revealed enhanced FC in the visual cortex, proprioceptive cortex and motor cortex. And there were weak negative correlations between the FC values in the bilateral superior temporal gyrus, occipital lobe, left postcentral gyrus and right thalamus were weakly negatively correlated and the CAP score (p < 0.05). Conclusion: After auditory deprivation in preschool children with CSNHL, the local functions of auditory cortex, visual cortex, prefrontal cortex and somatic motor cortex are changed, and the prefrontal cortex plays a regulatory role in this process. There is functional reorganization or compensation between children's hearing and these areas, which may not be conducive to auditory language recovery after CI in deaf children.

Aiming at the problems of high stochasticity and volatility of power loads as well as the difficulty of accurate load forecasting, this paper proposes a power load forecasting method based on CEEMDAN (Completely Integrated Empirical Modal Decomposition) and TCN-LSTM (Temporal Convolutional Networks and Long-Short-Term Memory Networks). The method combines the decomposition of raw load data by CEEMDAN and the spatio-temporal modeling capability of TCN-LSTM model, aiming to improve the accuracy and stability of forecasting. First, the raw load data are decomposed into multiple linearly stable subsequences by CEEMDAN, and then the sample entropy is introduced to reorganize each subsequence. Then the reorganized sequences are used as inputs to the TCN-LSTM model to extract sequence features and perform training and prediction. The modeling prediction is carried out by selecting the electricity compliance data of New South Wales, Australia, and compared with the traditional prediction methods. The experimental results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper has higher accuracy and better prediction effect on load forecasting, which can provide a partial reference for electricity load forecasting methods.

This study aimed to clarify how microclimate diversity altered volatilomics in Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and wines. Four row-oriented vineyards were selected, and metabolites of grapes and wines were determined from separate canopy sides. Results showed that shaded sides received 59% of the solar radiation and experienced 55% of the high-temperature days compared to the exposed sides on average. Grape primary metabolites were slightly affected by the canopy side. Herbaceous aromas were consistently more abundant in grapes and wines from shaded clusters. Heat-stressed canopy sides accelerated terpenoid loss and increased norisoprenoid levels in grapes, while ß-damascenone in north-side wines was 13%-32% higher than that in south-side wines of the east-west vineyard. The northeast-southwest vineyard showed the most notable variation in taste and aroma sensory scores, with four parameters significantly different. There were 32 aroma series identified in wines, and banana, pineapple, and strawberry odors were highly correlated with aroma sensory score.

BACKGROUND: Surgical treatment for hinge failure in mega-prosthesis continues to be a challenge. This study introduces a new method for treating hinge failure by using a unilateral prosthesis and hinge revision. CASE PRESENTATION: We here present two patients who underwent mega-prosthesis reconstruction after resection of osteosarcoma in the distal femur. To address the issue of knee hyperextension after mega-prosthesis reconstruction, one patient underwent three revision surgeries, two surgeries were performed using the original hinge, and one surgery involved a newly designed hinge. To resolve the problem of dislocation, one patient underwent three revisions, with the first two revisions not involving hinge replacement and the third revision involving a newly designed hinge. Two replacements of unilateral prosthesis and hinge renovations were successful. CONCLUSIONS: Unilateral prosthesis and newly designed hinge device revision are effective in treating the failure of old-fashioned mega-prosthesis hinges.

BACKGROUND: The Acute Disease Quality Initiative advocates multidisciplinary care for the survivors of acute kidney injury (AKI). The bundled care strategy recognizes the role of pharmacists. However, their specific contributions in this context remain underexplored. METHODS: This retrospective study examined the efficacy of pharmacist-led post-AKI pharmaceutical care in outpatient settings at a single center. Adults with recent AKI during hospitalization, maintaining an estimated glomerular filtration rate <45 mL/min/1.73 m2 postdischarge, were enrolled in a multidisciplinary team care program from March 2022 to January 2023, with a 6-month follow-up period. Pharmacist-delivered care adhered to international multidisciplinary consensus guidelines. Efficacy was evaluated by analyzing medication-related recommendations, medication adherence, nephrotoxic drug utilization, and renoprotective medication usage before and after the intervention. RESULTS: A total of 40 patients were referred to the pharmacist-managed clinic. Of these, 33 patients (mean age, 63 ± 15 years; 60.6% male) attended the clinic. Nineteen patients completed follow-up visits. The pharmacist provided 14 medication-related recommendations to relevant physicians, with 10 of these recommendations (71.4%) being accepted. There was a significant decrease in the use of modifiable nephrotoxic drugs (p = 0.03). However, no significant improvements were noted in medication adherence or the utilization of renoprotective medications. CONCLUSION: Our study underscores the potential benefits of pharmacist-led post-AKI bundled care strategy in outpatient settings. We observed a significant reduction in the utilization of modifiable nephrotoxic drugs, indicating the effectiveness of pharmacist interventions in optimizing medication regimens to mitigate renal harm.

BACKGROUND: Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is one of the most common adverse events of medication use, and its incidence is increasing. However, early detection of DILI is a crucial challenge due to a lack of biomarkers and noninvasive tests. AIM: To identify salivary metabolic biomarkers of DILI for the future development of noninvasive diagnostic tools. METHODS: Saliva samples from 31 DILI patients and 35 healthy controls (HCs) were subjected to untargeted metabolomics using ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. Subsequent analyses, including partial least squares-discriminant analysis modeling, t tests and weighted metabolite coexpression network analysis (WMCNA), were conducted to identify key differentially expressed metabolites (DEMs) and metabolite sets. Furthermore, we utilized least absolute shrinkage and selection operato and random fores analyses for biomarker prediction. The use of each metabolite and metabolite set to detect DILI was evaluated with area under the receiver operating characteristic curves. RESULTS: We found 247 differentially expressed salivary metabolites between the DILI group and the HC group. Using WMCNA, we identified a set of 8 DEMs closely related to liver injury for further prediction testing. Interestingly, the distinct separation of DILI patients and HCs was achieved with five metabolites, namely, 12-hydroxydodecanoic acid, 3-hydroxydecanoic acid, tetradecanedioic acid, hypoxanthine, and inosine (area under the curve: 0.733-1). CONCLUSION: Salivary metabolomics revealed previously unreported metabolic alterations and diagnostic biomarkers in the saliva of DILI patients. Our study may provide a potentially feasible and noninvasive diagnostic method for DILI, but further validation is needed.

Porous substrates act as open "interfacial reactors" during the synthesis of polyamide composite membranes via interfacial polymerization. However, achieving a thin and dense polyamide nanofilm with high permeance and selectivity is challenging when using a conventional substrate with uniform wettability. To overcome this limitation, we propose the use of Janus porous substrates as confined interfacial reactors to decouple the local monomer concentration from the total monomer amount during interfacial polymerization. By manipulating the location of the hydrophilic/hydrophobic interface in a Janus porous substrate, we can precisely control the monomer solution confined within the hydrophilic layer without compromising its concentration. The hydrophilic surface ensures the uniform distribution of monomers, preventing the formation of defects. By employing Janus substrates fabricated through single-sided deposition of polydopamine/polyethyleneimine, we significantly reduce the thickness of the polyamide nanofilms from 88.4 to 3.8 nm by decreasing the thickness of the hydrophilic layer. This reduction leads to a remarkable enhancement in water permeance from 7.2 to 52.0 l/m2·h·bar while still maintaining ~96% Na2SO4 rejection. The overall performance of this membrane surpasses that of most reported membranes, including state-of-the-art commercial products. The presented strategy is both simple and effective, bringing ultrapermeable polyamide nanofilms one step closer to practical separation applications.

Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) has a complex pathogenesis. Although early-stage ALD can be reversed by ceasing alcohol consumption, early symptoms are difficult to detect, and several factors contribute to making alcohol difficult to quit. Continued alcohol abuse worsens the condition, meaning it may gradually progress into alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis, ultimately, resulting in irreversible consequences. Therefore, effective treatments are urgently needed for early-stage ALD. Current research mainly focuses on preventing the progression of alcoholic fatty liver to alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis. However, challenges remain in identifying key therapeutic targets and understanding the molecular mechanisms that underlie the treatment of alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis, such as the limited discovery of effective therapeutic targets and treatments. Here, we downloaded ALD microarray data from Gene Expression Omnibus and used bioinformatics to compare and identify the hub genes involved in the progression of alcoholic fatty liver to alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis. We also predicted target miRNAs and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms (the mRNA-miRNA-lncRNA axis) underlying this progression, thereby building a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanism for lncRNA, miRNA, and mRNA. This study provides a theoretical basis for the early treatment of alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis and identifies potential therapeutic targets.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the pulmonary function of children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. METHODS: A total of 328 children aged 3 to 12 years old who were evaluated for a sleep disorder from January 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the observation group, classified into mild, moderate, and severe categories based on the apnea hypopnea index. The number of children with mild, moderate, and severe obstructive sleep apnea is 228, 62, and 28 respectively. Additionally, 126 healthy individuals aged 3 to 13 years old undergoing health examinations during the same period were selected as the control group. All subjects underwent sleep respiratory monitoring, pulmonary function tests, and impulse oscillometry. Comparative analysis was performed on pulmonary function indices (forced vital capacity, maximum ventilation, inspiratory capacity, total lung capacity, and inspiratory reserve volume), and respiratory impedance indices (resonant frequency, total respiratory impedance, viscous resistance at 5 Hz, 20 Hz, and 35 Hz). Pulmonary function indices were also compared among patients in the observation group with mild, moderate, and severe conditions. RESULTS: In the observation group, the FVC pre% of patients decreased by 10.5 ± 5.99 compared to the control group. The MVV of the control group decreased by 28.10 ± 2.22 compared to patients in the observation group. The IC of the control group decreased by 0.68 ± 0.44 compared to patients in the observation group. The TLC of the control group decreased by 1.354 ± 0.51 compared to patients in the observation group. The ERV of the control group decreased by 0.53 ± 0.30 compared to patients in the observation group. Additionally, the Fres, Zrs, R5, R20, and R35 of the observation group were higher than those of the control group by 10.73 ± 0.18, 1.78 ± 0.24, 0.11 ± 0.17, 0.86 ± 0.13, and 0.02 ± 0.21, respectively. In sum, the pulmonary function indices of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, while the respiratory impedance indices were higher (P < 0.05). Within the observation group, the pulmonary function indices of severe patients were lower than those of moderate and mild patients, and moderate patients had lower pulmonary function indices than mild patients (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The pulmonary function of children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome is impaired and varies in severity. There are significant differences in pulmonary function, underscoring the importance of monitoring pulmonary function in these children for clinical assessment and treatment prognosis.

OBJECTIVE: Positive antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCAs) may occur in the setting of interstitial lung disease (ILD), with or without ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). We aim to compare the characteristics and clinical course of patients with ILD and positive ANCA (ANCA-ILD) to those with negative ANCA. METHODS: We performed a single-center retrospective cohort study from 2018 to 2021. All patients with ILD and ANCA testing were included. Patient characteristics (symptoms, dyspnea scale, and systemic AAV), test results (pulmonary high-resolution computed tomography and pulmonary function tests), and adverse events were collected from electronic medical records. Descriptive statistics and the Fisher exact test were used to compare the outcomes of patients with ANCA-ILD to those with ILD and negative ANCA. RESULTS: A total of 265 patients with ILD were included. The mean follow-up duration was 69.3 months, 26 patients (9.8%) were ANCA positive, and 69.2% of those with ANCA-ILD had another autoantibody. AAV occurred in 17 patients (65.4%) with ANCA-ILD. In 29.4% of patients, AAV developed following ILD diagnosis. Usual interstitial pneumonia was the most common radiologic pattern in patients with ANCA-ILD. There was no association between ANCA status and the evolution of dyspnea, diffusing capacity of the lungs for carbon monoxide, and lung imaging. Forced vital capacity improved over time in 42% of patients with ANCA-ILD and in 17% of patients with negative ANCA (P = 0.006). Hospitalization occurred in 46.2% of patients with ANCA-ILD and in 21.8% of patients with negative ANCA (P = 0.006). Both groups had similar mortality rates. CONCLUSION: Routine ANCA testing should be considered in patients with ILD. Patients with ANCA-ILD are at risk for AAV. More research is required to better understand and manage patients with ANCA-ILD.

BACKGROUND: Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms (AMNs), although not classified as rare, are relatively uncommon tumors most often discovered incidentally during colorectal surgery. Accurate identification of AMNs is difficult due to non-specific symptoms, overlapping tumor markers with other conditions, and the potential for misdiagnosis. This underscores the urgent need for precision in diagnosis to prevent severe complications. CASE SUMMARY: This case report describes the unexpected discovery and treatment of a low-grade AMN (LAMN) in a 74-year-old man undergoing laparoscopic hemicolectomy for transverse colon adenocarcinoma (AC). Preoperatively, non-specific gastrointestinal symptoms and elevated tumor markers masked the presence of AMN. The tumor, presumed to be an AMN peritoneal cyst intraoperatively, was confirmed as LAMN through histopathological examination. The neoplasm exhibited mucin accumulation and a distinct immunohistochemical profile: Positive for Homeobox protein CDX-2, Cytokeratin 20, special AT-rich sequence-binding protein 2, and Mucin 2 but negative for cytokeratin 7 and Paired box gene 8. This profile aids in distinguishing appendiceal and ovarian mucinous tumors. Postoperative recovery was uncomplicated, and the patient initiated adjuvant chemotherapy for the colon AC. CONCLUSION: This case highlights the diagnostic complexity of AMNs, emphasizing the need for vigilant identification to avert potential complications, such as pseudomyxoma peritonei.

BACKGROUND: Weed control is essential for agricultural floor management in vineyards and the inter-row mulching is an eco-friendly practice to inhibit weed growth via filtering out photosynthetically active radiation. Besides weed suppression, inter-row mulching can influence grapevine growth and the accumulation of metabolites in grape berries. However, the complex interaction of multiple factors in the field challenges the understanding of molecular mechanisms on the regulated metabolites. In the current study, black geotextile inter-row mulch (M) was applied for two vintages (2016-2017) from anthesis to harvest. Metabolomics and transcriptomics analysis were conducted in two vintages, aiming to provide insights into metabolic and molecular responses of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to M in a semi-arid climate. RESULTS: Upregulation of genes related to photosynthesis and heat shock proteins confirmed that M weakened the total light exposure and grapes suffered heat stress, resulting in lower sugar-acid ratio at harvest. Key genes responsible for enhancements in phenylalanine, glutamine, ornithine, arginine, and C6 alcohol concentrations, and the downward trend in ε-viniferin, anthocyanins, flavonols, terpenes, and norisoprenoids in M grapes were identified. In addition, several modules significantly correlated with the metabolic biomarkers through weighted correlation network analysis, and the potential key transcription factors regulating the above metabolites including VviGATA11, VviHSFA6B, and VviWRKY03 were also identified. CONCLUSION: This study provides a valuable overview of metabolic and transcriptomic responses of M grapes in semi-arid climates, which could facilitate understanding the complex regulatory network of metabolites in response to microclimate changes.

RESUMEN

We report the preparation of chiral silica using a linear polysiloxane main chain with a preferred-handed helical structure as the template. Poly(methylvinyl siloxane) (PMVS) with a cysteine derivative side chain designated as PMVS-Cys was prepared using anionic polymerization and an ene-thiol reaction. PMVS-Cys forms a helical conformation in both solution and film via hydrogen bonding between amide groups at side chains. The helical structure remains during the calcination process, resulting in silica with helical structure. The silica with a helical structure shows optical activity.
