[Proventriculitis in domestic fowl (Gallus gallus var. dom. L., 1758) caused by megabacteria]. / Eine durch Megabakterien verursachte Drüsenmagenentzündung beim Haushuhn (Gallus gallus var. dom. L., 1758).

Three cases of a disease similar to going light syndrome in budgerigars in a flock of young laying hens in Turkey are reported. In all cases megabacteria in association with E. coli could be isolated. The causing agent appeared to be large, rod-shaped, gram-positive or gram-labil, and catalase test positive bacteria with cytochromoxydase activity. Subcultivation of these bacteria could not be achieved.

[Histological study of different organs in clinically healthy Amazon parrots]. / Histologische Untersuchung verschiedener Organe bei klinisch gesunden Amazonen.

Histologic examination of organs of clinically healthy amazons was carried out. Only variations from the chicken are presented, among others: Occurrence of a complex of vessels and many Herbst' corpuscles in the nasal cavity; evidence of a thick muscular layer as well as many Herbst' corpuscles and nerve fibers as the cover of the syrinx; demonstration of muscular trabeculae in the parabronchia; detection of an artery accompanying the testes with muscular layers reaching into the adventitia and many nerve fibers; very small numbers of active lymph follicles within the white pulp of the spleen.
