RESUMEN

Since ethylene (C2H4) is important feedstock in the chemical industry, developing economical and energy-efficient adsorption separation techniques based on ethane (C2H6)-selective adsorbents to replace the energy-intensive cryogenic distillation is highly demanded, which however remains a daunting challenge. While previous anionic boron cluster hybrid microporous materials display C2H4-selective features, we herein reported that the incorporation of a neutral para-carborane backbone and aliphatic 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) enables the reversed adsorption of C2H6 over C2H4. The generated carborane-hybrid microporous material ZNU-10 (ZNU = Zhejiang Normal University) is highly stable in humid air and maintains good C2H6/C2H4 separation performance under high humidity. Gas loaded single crystal structure and density-functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that the weakly polarized carborane and DABCO within ZNU-10 induce more specific C-Hδ+⋯Hδ--B dihydrogen bonds and other van der Waals interactions with C2H6, while the suitable pore space allows the high C2H6 uptake. Approximately 14.5 L kg-1 of polymer grade C2H4 can be produced from simulated C2H6/C2H4 (v/v 10/90) mixtures under ambient conditions in a single step, comparable to those of many popular materials.

RESUMEN

ACYL-CoA-BINDING PROTEINs (ACBPs) play crucial regulatory roles during plant response to hypoxia, but their molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. Our study reveals that ACBP4 serves as a positive regulator of the plant hypoxia response by interacting with WRKY70, influencing its nucleocytoplasmic shuttling in Arabidopsis thaliana. Furthermore, we demonstrate the direct binding of WRKY70 to the ACBP4 promoter, resulting in its upregulation and suggesting a positive feedback loop. Additionally, we pinpointed a phosphorylation site at Ser638 of ACBP4, which enhances submergence tolerance, potentially by facilitating WRKY70's nuclear shuttling. Surprisingly, a natural variation in this phosphorylation site of ACBP4 allowed A. thaliana to adapt to humid conditions during its historical demographic expansion. We further observed that both phosphorylated ACBP4 and oleoyl-CoA can impede the interaction between ACBP4 and WRKY70, thus promoting WRKY70's nuclear translocation. Finally, we found that the overexpression of orthologous BnaC5.ACBP4 and BnaA7.WRKY70 in Brassica napus increases submergence tolerance, indicating their functional similarity across genera. In summary, our research not only sheds light on the functional significance of the ACBP4 gene in hypoxia response, but also underscores its potential utility in breeding flooding-tolerant oilseed rape varieties.

RESUMEN

Neuropeptide Y (NPY), an important neurotransmitter, is widely distributed in the nervous systems of vertebrates. Multiple functions of NPY in mammals include the regulation of brain activity, emotion, stress response, feeding, digestion, metabolism and immune function. In the present study, we used synthetic NPY to immerse juvenile tilapia, thus firstly exploring the dose and time effect of this immersion. The results showed that the expression level of y8b and serum glucose increased after NPY immersion. When juvenile tilapia was challenged with Streptococcus agalactiae (S. agalactiae), no matter before or after the administration of NPY-immersion, it was found that NPY immersion could inhibit the expression of il-1ß induced by S. agalactiae in telencephalon, hypothalamus, spleen and head kidney, and then promote the expression of il-10. In addition, NPY-immersion could reduce the activity of serum SOD but increase that of lysozyme, and ameliorate tissue damage in the head kidney and spleen of juvenile tilapia caused by S. agalactiae infection. This study firstly proposes the potential of NPY to be an immune protect factor in juvenile fish, and the results can provide a reference for the application of immersion administration in the immune protection of juvenile fish.

RESUMEN

The semimetal-based photodetector possesses the intrinsic advantage of high response speed, low power consumption, and wide-range photoresponse. Here, we report the synthesis and application of 1 inch wafer-scale polycrystalline few layer 1T'-MoTe2 on the SiO2/Si substrate by employing a modified chemical vapor deposition method of predeposition of precursors. A continuous film with seamlessly stitched micrometer scale grains has been realized, and the pure 1T' phase was confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. An asymmetric metal electrode photodetector device of Pd-MoTe2-Au was designed and fabricated by using shadow mask-assisted UHV deposition. By measuring the self-powered photocurrent under the illumination of Xe lamp, we show that the device is sensitive to a wide spectra range (λ = 320-1200 nm) while maintaining high performance of the ON/OFF ratio (∼103), responsivity (1.2 A/W), and specific detectivity (7.68 × 1012 Jones). Under 450, 648, and 850 nm pulsed laser illumination, the response time achieves tens of microsecond scale. The device shows polarized photoresponse as well. Our work may promote the potential application of a self-powered high-performance photodetector based on 1T'-MoTe2.

RESUMEN

Ethylene (C2H4) purification from multi-component mixtures by physical adsorption is a great challenge in the chemical industry. Herein, we report a GeF62- anion embedded MOF (ZNU-6) with customized pore structure and pore chemistry for benchmark one-step C2H4 recovery from C2H2 and CO2. ZNU-6 exhibits significantly high C2H2 (1.53 mmol/g) and CO2 (1.46 mmol/g) capacity at 0.01 bar. Record high C2H4 productivity is achieved from C2H2/CO2/C2H4 mixtures in a single adsorption process under various conditions. The separation performance is retained over multiple cycles and under humid conditions. The potential gas binding sites are investigated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, which suggest that C2H2 and CO2 are preferably adsorbed in the interlaced narrow channel with high aff0inity. In-situ single crystal structures with the dose of C2H2, CO2 or C2H4 further reveal the realistic host-guest interactions. Notably, rare C2H2 clusters are formed in the narrow channel while two distinct CO2 adsorption locations are observed in the narrow channel and the large cavity with a ratio of 1:2, which accurately account for the distinct adsorption heat curves.

RESUMEN

Cell-free synthesis systems can complete the transcription and translation process in vitro to produce complex proteins that are difficult to be expressed in traditional cell-based systems. Such systems also can be used for the assembly of efficient localized multienzyme cascades to synthesize products that are toxic to cells. Cell-free synthesis systems provide a simpler and faster engineering solution than living cells, allowing unprecedented design freedom. This paper reviews the latest progress on the application of cell-free synthesis systems in the field of enzymatic catalysis, including cell-free protein synthesis and cell-free metabolic engineering. In cell-free protein synthesis: complex proteins, toxic proteins, membrane proteins, and artificial proteins containing non-natural amino acids can be easily synthesized by directly controlling the reaction conditions in the cell-free system. In cell-free metabolic engineering, the synthesis of desired products can be made more specific and efficient by designing metabolic pathways and screening biocatalysts based on purified enzymes or crude extracts. Through the combination of cell-free synthesis systems and emerging technologies, such as: synthetic biology, microfluidic control, cofactor regeneration, and artificial scaffolds, we will be able to build increasingly complex biomolecule systems. In the next few years, these technologies are expected to mature and reach industrialization, providing innovative platforms for a wide range of biotechnological applications.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Although there are new treatments for non-small cell lung cancer with malignant pleural effusion, these therapies are prone to recurrent pleural effusion and poor in efficacy. And recombinant human endostatin is a new type of anti-tumor angiogenesis drug independently developed in my country. It has the effect of inhibiting tumor angiogenesis, inhibiting tumor proliferation and differentiation, and effectively inhibiting the formation and recurrence of malignant pleural effusion. Therefore, this study is aim to systematically review the efficacy and safety of intrapleural injection of endostar combined with cisplatin in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with malignant pleural effusion. METHODS: Databases including Cochrane Library, PubMed, CBM, Embase, CNKI, and WanFang Data were searched to collect randomized controlled trials about endostar combined with cisplatin for NSCLC with malignant pleural effusion from inception to April 2022. Two reviewers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and assessed the risk of bias in included studies. Finally, the meta-analysis was made by using RevMan 5.4.1 software. RESULTS: A total of 11 randomized controlled trials involving 814 patients were finally included. The results of the meta-analysis showed that: The overall response rate and the improvement rate of quality of life in the endostar combined with cisplatin group were higher than that of the cisplatin alone group (relative risk = 1.58, 95% confidence interval = 1.42-1.76, P < .00001; relative risk = 1.63, 95% confidence interval = 1.38-1.93, P < .00001, respectively). Meanwhile, there were no significant differences between the 2 groups in the incidence of gastrointestinal reaction, the incidence of leucopenia, the incidence of thrombocytopenia, and the incidence of hypodynamia (all P values > .05). CONCLUSION: Compared with cisplatin, intrapleural injection of endostar combined with cisplatin could improve the overall response rate and the quality of life of NSCLC patients with malignant pleural effusion. Due to the limited quality and quantity of included studies, more high-quality studies are needed to verify the above conclusion.

RESUMEN

All-inorganic cesium lead bromine (CsPbBr3) perovskites quantum dots (QDs) are one of the most photoelectric materials due to their high absorption coefficient, pronounced quantum-size effect, tunable optical property. Here, a self-powered PD based on all-inorganic CsPbBr3perovskites QDs is fabricated and demonstrated. The light-induced pyroelectric effect is utilized to modulate the optoelectronic processes without the external power supply. The working mechanism of the PD is carefully investigated upon 532 nm laser illumination and the minimum recognizable response time of the self-powered PD is 1.5µs, which are faster than those of most previously reported wurtzite nanostructure PDs. Meanwhile, the frequency and temperature independence of the self-powered PD are experimented and summarized. The self-powered PD with high performance is expected to have extensive applications in solar cell, energy harvesting, resistive random access memory.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an emerging viral disease. Here, we report the clinical features, management, and short-term outcomes of COVID-19 patients in Wenzhou, China, an area outside Wuhan. METHODS: Patients admitted to the Infectious Diseases Department of Ruian People's Hospital in Wenzhou, from January 21 to February 7, 2020, were recruited. Medical data on epidemiological history, demographics, clinical characteristics, laboratory tests, chest computerized tomography (CT) examination, treatment, and short-term outcomes were retrospectively reviewed. Blood biochemistry and routine tests were examined using standard methods and automatic machines. CT examination was performed several times during hospitalization as necessary. RESULTS: A total of 67 confirmed COVID-19 cases were diagnosed; 64 (95.4%) were common cases and three (4.5%) were severe cases. The most common symptoms at admission were fever (86.6%), cough (77.6%), productive cough (52.2%), chest distress (17.9%), and sore throat (11.9%), followed by diarrhea (7.4%), headache (7.4%), shortness of breath (6.0%), dizziness (4.5%), muscular soreness (4.5%), and running nose (4.5%). Thirty patients (47.8%) had increased C-reactive protein levels. The CT radiographs at admission showed abnormal findings in 54 (80.6%) patients. The patients were treated mainly by oxygen therapy and antiviral drugs. By March 3, 2020, all 67 patients completely recovered and had negative nucleic acid tests. The patients were discharged from the hospital and transferred to a medical observation isolation center for further observation. CONCLUSION: Cases of COVID-19 in Wenzhou are milder and have a better prognosis, compared to those in Wuhan. Timely and appropriate screening, diagnosis, and treatment are the key to achieve good outcomes.

RESUMEN

The investigation of highly efficient catalysts for the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (ER-CO2) is the most critical challenge to commercialize conversion and utilization of CO2. Herein we propose a new and very promising catalyst, high crystallinity Sn crystals on Ni foam (Sn@f-Ni), for the electroreduction reaction of CO2 in potassium bicarbonate aqueous solution. The catalyst is fabricated in situ on a pretreated Ni foam substrate through a galvanostatic electrodeposition strategy. SEM and XRD demonstrate that high crystallinity Sn crystals, with an average size of 2-3 µm, evenly dispersed on the Ni foam support can be reproducibly obtained. Electrochemical measurements demonstrate that the Sn@f-Ni electrode at the deposition current of 15 mA exhibits superior performance in promoting the ER-CO2. Tafel measurements show that except for electrodes with a deposition current of 5 mA, the Tafel slopes of the other four electrodes are all above 100 mV dec-1, which is consistent with a rate-determining initial electron transfer to CO2 to form a surface adsorbed intermediate, a mechanism that is commonly invoked for metal electrodes. A stable composition of syngas can be obtained by electrolysis at -1.7 V potential (vs. Ag/AgCl), indicating that the Sn surface with high crystallinity conforms to the Heyrovsky-Volmer mechanism at a potential of -1.7 V. The ratio of CO and H2 generation was about 1 : 2, meaning it could be used as syngas for preparing some valuable fuels. This work provided an efficient method to convert the surplus CO2 to valuable syngas.

RESUMEN

Electrochemical water splitting is an important strategy for the mass production of hydrogen. Development of synthesizable catalysts has always been one of the biggest obstacles to replace platinum-group catalysts. In this work, a high quality crystal polymer covalent triazine framework [CTF; Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area of 1562.6 m2 g-1 ] is synthesized and MoS2 nanoparticles are grown in situ into/onto the 1 D channel arrays or the external surface for electrocatalysis [hydrogen evolution reaction (HER)] . The state-of-the-art CTFs@MoS2 structure exhibits superior catalytic kinetics with an overpotential of 93 mV and Tafel slope of 43 mV dec-1 , which is improved over most other reported analogous catalysts. The inherent π-conjugated crystal channels in CTFs provides a multifunctional support for electron transmission and mass diffusion during the hydrogen evolution process. Catalytic kinetics analysis shows that the HER performance is closely correlated to the hierarchical pore parameters and aggregated thickness of MoS2 nanoparticles. This work provides an attractive and durable alternative to synthesize high activity and stable catalysts for HER.

RESUMEN

The development of inexpensive visible-light-driven photocatalysts is an important prerequisite for realizing the industrial application of photocatalysis technology. In this paper, an earth-abundant FeAl2O4 photocatalyst is prepared via facile solution combustion synthesis. Density functional theory and the scanning Kelvin probe technique are employed to ascertain the positions of the energy bands and the Fermi level. Phenol is taken as a model pollutant to evaluate the photocatalytic activity of FeAl2O4. The scavenger experiment results, ˙OH-trapping fluorescence technique, and electron spin resonance measurements confirm that the superoxide anion radical is the main active species generated in the photocatalytic process, which also further corroborates the proposed electronic structure of FeAl2O4. The degradation experiments and O2 temperature programmed desorption results over various samples verify that the crystallinity degree is a more important factor than the oxygen adsorption ability in determining photocatalytic activity.

RESUMEN

An ultralow-noise, subhertz 1.55 µm erbium-doped fiber laser that is locked on an all-fiber-based Michelson interferometer is presented in this paper. The interferometer uses 500 m SMF-28 optical fiber and an acousto-optic modulator to allow heterodyne detection. By comparing two identical laser systems, a 0.67 (0.21) Hz linewidth beat-note signal is achieved and we obtain fractional frequency instability of 7×10(-15) at short timescales (0.1-1 s). The frequency noise power spectral density of two identical lasers is below -1 dB Hz(2)/Hz at 1 Hz and it reaches -18 dB Hz(2)/Hz from 200 Hz to 1 kHz.

RESUMEN

Nitrogen-doped carbon nanofibers (MCNFs) with an aligned mesoporous structure were synthesized by a co-confined carbonization method using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane and tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as co-confined templates and ionic liquids as the precursor. The as-synthesized MCNFs with the diameter of 80-120nm possessed a bulk nitrogen content of 5.3wt% and bimodal mesoporous structure. The nitrogen atoms were mostly bound to the graphitic network in two forms, i.e. pyridinic and pyrrolic nitrogen, providing adsorption sites for acidic gases like SO2 and CO2. Cyclic experiments revealed a considerable stability of MCNFs over 20 runs of SO2 adsorption and 15 runs for CO2 adsorption. The MCNFs also have a preferable adsorption performance for Cd(2+).

RESUMEN

AIM: To investigate the role of endothelin-1 in the pathogenesis of neurogenetic pulmonary edema. METHODS: The levels of endothelin-1 in plasma and lung were measured in rats which suffered from diffuse brain injury on Marmarous' model. The changes of endothelin-1 in the lungs were also detected using an immunohistochemical method. RESULTS: After heavy diffuse brain injury in rats, the levels of endothelin-1 in plasma and lung began increasing at 1 hour, and peaked at 6 hour. Though a little declining at 24 hour, it maintained a higher level within 48 hours (P < 0.05). Pulmonary pathology showed that after brain injury there were congestion, swelling in pulmonary microvessels with broadened pulmonary interstitial tissue, and leucocyte infiltration was dominated by neutrophils and monocytes from 1 hour on, which peaked at 6 hour. More serious congestion, swelling and protein effusion in pulmonary alveoli were observed at both 24 h and 48 h. Immunohistochemically, endothelin-1 had more significant expression and higher levels of OD in the experimental groups than that in the control's, the most significance of which was at 6 hour. CONCLUSION: The inflammatory injury mechanism caused by endothelin-1 may play an important role in neurogenic pulmonary edema.
