RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the literature of acupuncture and moxibustion for diseases in the recent 5 years, and discuss the spectrum and indications of acupuncture and moxibustion. METHODS: The literature on acupuncture and moxibustion for diseases in CNKI, Wanfang and VIP databases from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2019 was searched, summarized and analyzed, and the disease spectrum was summarized. At the same time, the literature from 2015 to 2019 (group A), 1978 to 2005 (group B), and 1949 to 2005 (group C) was compared, and the indications of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy were summarized. RESULTS: There were 32 011 articles on acupuncture and moxibustion for diseases in the recent 5 years, including 377 kinds of indications. These indications can be mostly classified as neurology (9384), orthopedics and traumatology (7765), gastroenterology (3529) and obstetrics and gynecology (2283). The types of diseases were mostly gastroenterology (52 types), neurology (47 types), ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology (47 types), and obstetrics and gynecology (42 types). The first-class indications of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy in the recent 5 years were hemiplegia, lumbar disc herniation, cervical spondylosis, knee osteoarthritis, insomnia, constipation and cerebrovascular diseases; the second-class were facial neuritis, shoulder pain and headache; the third-class were dysphagia, dysmenorrhea and depression; the forth-class were asthma, urinary retention, cerebral palsy, hypertension, dementia, side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, infertility, allergic rhinitis, vertigo, shoulder-hand syndrome, diabetic neuropathy, herpes zoster, pain, hiccup, diarrhea, lumbar sprain and sciatica. CONCLUSION: Although the disease spectrum and indications of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy have changed to some extent in the recent 5 years, neurology and orthopedics and traumatology are still predominant, and the observation objects tend to transition from symptoms to diseases.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is a rare heterogeneous liver disease characterized by obstruction of the hepatic venous outflow tract. The incidence of BCS is so low that it is difficult to detect in general practice and difficult to include within the scope of routine diagnosis. The clinical manifestations of BCS are not specific; hence, BCS tends to be misdiagnosed. CASE SUMMARY: We report the case of a 33-year-old Chinese woman who presented with progressive distension in the upper abdomen. She was initially misdiagnosed with liver cirrhosis (LC) due to abnormalities on an upper abdominal computed tomography scan. Although she was taking standard anti-cirrhosis therapy, her symptoms did not improve. Magnetic resonance imaging showed caudate lobe hypertrophy; and dilated lumbar and hemiazygos veins. Venography revealed membranous obstruction of the inferior vena cava owing to congenital vascular malformation. A definitive diagnosis of BCS was made. Balloon angioplasty was performed to recanalize the obstructed inferior vena cava and the patient's symptoms were completely resolved. CONCLUSION: BCS lacks specific clinical features and can eventually lead to LC. Clinicians and radiologists must carefully differentiate BCS from LC. Correct diagnosis and timely treatment are vital to the patient's health.

RESUMEN

Three porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome viruses (PRRSV), NT1, NT2, and NT3, were isolated from three dying piglets from a single pig farm in Jiangsu Province, China. Whole genome sequencing revealed that the three isolates share the highest homology with JXA1-P80, an attenuated vaccine strain developed by serial passage of highly pathogenic PRRSV JXA1 in MARC-145 cells. More than ten amino acids residues in ORF1a, ORF1b, GP4, and GP5 that were thought to be unique to JXA1 attenuated on MARC-145 cells were each found in the corresponding locations of NT1, NT2, and NT3. In virulence assays, piglets infected with NT1, NT2, or NT3 exhibited clinical signs of disease, including high fever, anorexia, and respiratory distress, leading to the death of the majority of the piglets within two weeks. Collectively, these data indicate that NT1, NT2, and NT3 are highly pathogenic PRRSVs and they are likely to be revertants of the vaccine strain JXA1-P80.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVETo review the literature from 1954-2005 on acupuncture-moxibustion treatment of digestive system diseases and objectively reflect the acupuncture-moxibustion spectrum of digestive system diseases by literature metrology and assessment, so as to better exert the advantages of acupuncture-moxibustion medicine.

METHODSA statistical analysis was made by the method of metrological analysis according to the data from "China modern acupuncture-moxibustion information databank".

RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONThe acupuncture-moxibustion spectrum of digestive system diseases of 91 kinds include 11 kinds of medical records; the effective diseases of acupuncture and moxibustion include hiccup, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, intestinal pseudo-obstruction, hemorrhoids. The determination of the disease spectrum of acupuncture and moxibustion needs further study.
