RESUMEN

Activating multielectron reactions of sodium superionic conductor (NASICON)-type cathodes toward higher energy density remains imperative to boost their application feasibility. However, multisodium storage with high stability is difficult to achieve due to the sluggish reaction kinetics, irreversible phase transitions, and negative structural degradation. Herein, a kind of NASICON-type Na2.5V1.5Ti0.5(PO4)3/C (NVTP-0.5) hierarchical microsphere consisting of abundant primary nanoparticles is designed, realizing a reversible 3.2-electron reaction with high stability. The optimized NVTP-0.5 cathode demonstrates an ultrahigh discharge capacity of 192.42 mAh g-1, energy density of up to 497.3 Wh kg-1 at 20 mA g-1, and capacity retention ratio of 94.1% after 1000 cycles at 1 A g-1. Additionally, the NVTP-0.5 cathode delivers excellent tolerance to extreme temperatures while also achieving a high-energy density of 400 Wh kg-1 (based on the cathode mass) in a full-cell configuration. Systematic in situ/ex situ analysis results confirm the multisodium storage processes of NVTP-0.5 involving successive redox reactions (V2+/V3+, Ti3+/Ti4+, and V3+/V4+ redox couples) and reversible structure evolution (solid-solution and biphasic mechanisms), which contribute to the high capacity and excellent cycling stability. This work indicates that the rational regulation of components with different functions can unlock more possibilities for the development of NASICON-type cathodes.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To describe the features of ETV6::ABL1 AML as well as the clinical treatment and outcomes. METHODS: Clinical data were collected from three patients diagnosed with ETV6::ABL1 AML at Hebei Yanda Lu Daopei Hospital and Beijing Lu Daopei Hospital. Their clinical and laboratory features were analyzed, and the treatment process and outcomes were described. Ten reported cases of ETV6::ABL1 AML from the literature were also included for analysis. RESULTS: The median age of the patients was 34 years, and 2 patients were male. No patient had a history of blood disorders before diagnosis. After relapse, they were referred to our hospital, where the ETV6::ABL1 gene was detected. Unfortunately, Patient 1 died rapidly after leukemia relapse due to severe infection. Patients 2 and 3 received salvage therapy with a dasatinib-containing regimen, followed by allo-HSCT, and are currently alive and disease-free. CONCLUSION: ETV6::ABL1 is a rare but recurrent genetic aberration in AML, and the combined use of fluorescence in situ hybridization and PCR can better identify this fusion gene. Patients carrying ETV6::ABL1 have a high relapse rate and a poor prognosis. TKIs are a reasonable treatment option for this group, and allo-HSCT may be curative.

RESUMEN

Owing to the outstanding comprehensive properties of high energy density, excellent cycling ability, and reasonable cost, Ni-rich layered oxides (NCM) are the most promising cathode for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). To further enhance the specific capacity of Ni-rich layered oxides, it is necessary to increase the cut-off voltage to a higher level. However, a higher cut-off voltage can lead to substantial structural changes and trigger interface side reactions, presenting significant challenges for practical applications (cycle life and safety). Herein, to solve above issues, tris(hexafluoroisopropyl)borate (TFPB) is introduced as a high voltage electrolyte additive for LiNi0.90 Co0.06 Mn0.04 O2 cathode. Based on detail in situ/ex situ characterization, this study proves that TFPB forms a protective solid-state interphase (SEI) layer on the Li-anode. Additionally, derivatives of TFPB are easily oxidatively decomposed to create a dense cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI) film on the cathode. This CEI film effectively prevents the continuous oxidation of the electrolyte and mitigates the adverse effects of HF on the battery. Benefit from the protective SEI and CEI layer, the LiNi0.90 Co0.06 Mn0.04 O2 ||Li battery with a TFPB-containing electrolyte maintains an unprecedented level of performance, with a capacity retention of 89.1% after 100 cycles under the ultrahigh cut-off voltage of 4.6 V (vs Li/Li+ ).

RESUMEN

To study the extent of green finance development in China, this article constructs a green finance index system and employs the entropy value method to measure China's green finance by using a yearly provincial panel data from 2001 to 2020. The Thiel and Moran indices are then used to systematically analyze the temporal and spatial distribution of China's regional green finance. The findings are summarized as follows. Firstly, the overall green finance index in China experiences an upward trend. The development of green finance in the eastern region is superior to that in other regions in terms of absolute value and growth rate. Moreover, the differences in China's green finance index have shown an increasing trend over the last two decades, which is mostly contributed by the intra-regional differences. Finally, the inter-regional distribution of green finance index demonstrates that green finance development has a spatial spillover effect.

RESUMEN

The gel prepared using Nemipterus virgatus (N. virgatus) surimi alone still has some defects in texture and taste. Complexing with polysaccharides is an efficient strategy to enhance its gel properties. The main objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between the gel quality and molecular interaction of N. virgatus surimi gel after complexing with tapioca starch. The results make clear that the gel strength, hardness, and chewiness of surimi gel were increased by molecular interaction with tapioca starch. At the appropriate addition amount (12%, w/w), the surimi gel had an excellent gel strength (17.48 N), water-holding capacity (WHC) (89.01%), lower cooking loss rate (CLR) (0.95%), and shortened T2 relaxation time. Microstructure analysis indicated that the addition of tapioca starch facilitated even distribution in the gel network structure, resulting in a significant reduction in cavity diameter, with the minimum diameter reduced to 20.33 µm. In addition, tapioca starch enhanced the hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interaction in the gel system and promoted the transformation of α-helix to ß-sheet (p < 0.05). Correlation analysis showed that the increased physicochemical properties of surimi gel were closely related to the enhanced noncovalent interactions. In conclusion, noncovalent complexation with tapioca starch is an efficient strategy to enhance the quality of surimi gel.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy requires a long learning curve. A preoperative training system was established to optimize the surgeons' learning curve and reduce the incidence rate of complications at the beginning of the curve. METHODS: The laparoscopic pancreaticojejunostomy model, and choledochojejunostomy and gastrojejunostomy training systems were developed, and corresponding evaluation systems were also defined. Surgeons B and C performed laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy after completing training session. Surgical outcomes, postoperative complications and their learning curves were analyzed. RESULTS: Patients operated by surgeons B and C experienced shorter operative durations following training session than those in nontrained group (called A) ( P <0.001). B and C began entering the inflection point at the 26th and 20th case in learning curve, respectively. The incidence of postoperative pancreatic fistula in group B was 3.3%, significantly lower than 13.1% in group A ( P =0.047). Patients in group B showed significantly lower incidence of biliary-enteric anastomosis leakage (0% vs. 8.2%, P =0.029) and Clavien-Dindo classification greater than or equal to 3 (3.3% vs. 14.8%, P =0.027) compared with those in group A. The incidence of surgical site infection in groups B (3.3%, P =0.004) and C (4.9%, P =0.012) was significantly lower than that in group A (19.7%). Moreover, the length of postoperative hospital stay was significantly shorter in groups B (12.5±5.9 days, P =0.002) and C (13.7±6.5 days, P =0.002) compared with group A (16.7±8.5 days). CONCLUSIONS: The laparoscopic pancreaticojejunostomy training model and evaluation system can shorten the operative duration, lower the risk of postoperative complications, and shorten the length of hospital stay.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to estimate whether the potential short-term advantages of laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD) could allow patients to recover in a more timely manner and achieve better long-term survival than with open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD) in patients with pancreatic or periampullary tumors. BACKGROUND: LPD has been demonstrated to be feasible and may have several potential advantages over OPD in terms of shorter hospital stay and accelerated recovery than OPD. METHODS: This noninferiority, open-label, randomized clinical trial was conducted in 14 centers in China. The initial trial included 656 eligible patients with pancreatic or periampullary tumors enrolled from May 18, 2018, to December 19, 2019. The participants were randomized preoperatively in a 1:1 ratio to undergo either LPD (n=328) or OPD (n=328). The 3-year overall survival (OS), quality of life, which was assessed using the 3-level version of the European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions, depression, and other outcomes were evaluated. RESULTS: Data from 656 patients [328 men (69.9%); mean (SD) age: 56.2 (10.7) years] who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy were analyzed. For malignancies, the 3-year OS rates were 59.1% and 54.3% in the LPD and OPD groups, respectively ( P =0.33, hazard ratio: 1.16, 95% CI: 0.86-1.56). The 3-year OS rates for others were 81.3% and 85.6% in the LPD and OPD groups, respectively ( P =0.40, hazard ratio: 0.70, 95% CI: 0.30-1.63). No significant differences were observed in quality of life, depression and other outcomes between the 2 groups. CONCLUSION: In patients with pancreatic or periampullary tumors, LPD performed by experienced surgeons resulted in a similar 3-year OS compared with OPD. RESUMEN

PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs that regulate gene expression, yet their molecular functions in neurobiology are unclear. While investigating neurodegeneration mechanisms using human α-syn(A53T)Tg and AßTg;α-syn(A53T)Tg pan-neuronal overexpressing strains, we unexpectedly observed dysregulation of piRNAs. RNAi screening revealed that knock down of piRNA biogenesis genes improved thrashing behavior; further, a tofu-1 gene deletion ameliorated phenotypic deficits in α-syn(A53T)Tg and AßTg;α-syn(A53T)Tg transgenic strains. piRNA expression was extensively downregulated and H3K9me3 marks were decreased after tofu-1 deletion in α-syn(A53T)Tg and AßTg;α-syn(A53T)Tg strains. Dysregulated piRNAs targeted protein degradation genes suggesting that a decrease of piRNA expression leads to an increase of degradation ability in C. elegans. Finally, we interrogated piRNA expression in brain samples from PD patients. piRNAs were observed to be widely overexpressed at late motor stage. In this work, our results provide evidence that piRNAs are mediators in pathogenesis of Lewy body diseases and suggest a molecular mechanism for neurodegeneration in these and related disorders.

RESUMEN

Importance: The safety and efficacy of laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remain controversial. Objective: To compare laparoscopic and open pancreaticoduodenectomy performed by experienced surgeons in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Design, Setting, and Participants: This was a noninferiority, open-label randomized clinical trial between September 20, 2019 and March 20, 2022, at 10 hospitals in China. A total of 412 adult patients were assessed for eligibility; 200 patients with histologically confirmed or clinically diagnosed pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma who were eligible to undergo pancreaticoduodenectomy were enrolled. Study recruitment is complete, and follow-up is ongoing. This article reports prespecified early safety results from the trial. Interventions: Participants were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to undergo either laparoscopic or open pancreaticoduodenectomy, to be performed by experienced surgeons who had already performed at least 104 laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy operations. Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary end point is 5-year overall survival, but the data for this end point are not yet mature; thus, secondary short-term outcomes, including operative findings, complications, mortality, and oncological results are reported here. The outcomes were analyzed according to a modified intention-to-treat and per-protocol principle. Results: Among 412 patients for eligibility, 200 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned 1:1 to have laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy or open pancreaticoduodenectomy. The mean (SD) age was 61.3 (9.3) years, and 78 participants (39%) were female. Laparoscopic procedures had longer operative times (median [IQR], 330.0 [287.5-405.0] minutes vs 297.0 [245.0-340.0] minutes; P < .001). Patients in the laparoscopic group lost less blood than those in the open group (median [IQR], 145.0 [100.0-200.0] mL vs 200.0 [100.0-425.0] mL; P = .02). Ninety-day mortality occurred in 2 of 100 patients in the laparoscopic group and 0 of 100 patients in the open group. There was no difference in the rates of complications of the Clavien-Dindo grades III-IV (n = 17 [17.0%] vs n = 23 [23.0%]; P = .29), comprehensive complication index (median [IQR], 0.0 [0.0-22.6] vs 8.7 [0.0-26.2]; P = .79) or median (IQR) postoperative length of stay (14.0 [11.0-17.0] days vs 14.0 [12.0-18.5] days; P = .37) between the 2 groups. Conclusions and Relevance: Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy performed by experienced surgeons in high-volume specialized institutions resulted in similar short-term outcomes compared with open pancreaticoduodenectomy among patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03785743.

RESUMEN

Background: The Coiled-coil domain-containing proteins (CCDCs) are expressed in many cancers, but the role of Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 103 (CCDC103) in cancers remains unclear. Further investigations are necessary to ascertain its diagnostic significance and understand its biological function in cancers. This study aims to elucidate the biological functionalities of CCDC103 in glioma and evaluate the correlation between CCDC103 expression with glioma progression. Methods: Clinical data on glioma patients were acquired from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA), and the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). The evaluation encompassed the examination of correlations between CCDC103 expression, pathological characteristics, and clinical outcomes. Furthermore, the analysis included the assessment of the correlations between CCDC103 expression and immune cell infiltration as well as glioma progression. Results: Gliomas have higher levels of CCDC103 expression than the para-carcinoma tissues. Poorer prognosis, unfavorable histological characteristics, the absence of IDH gene mutations, and the absence of chromosome 1p and 19q deletions were all associated with higher expression of CCDC103 in gliomas. In addition to patient age, tumor grade, the absence of IDH mutations, and the absence of chromosome 1p and 19q deletions, univariate and multivariate Cox analyses showed that CCDC103 expression was independently prognostic of overall survival, disease-free survival, and progression-free survival in patients with glioma. Furthermore, tumor infiltration of B cells, neutrophils, macrophages, and dendritic cells were all linked with elevated expression of CCDC103. High CCDC103 expression was linked to immune response-related signaling pathways and cell proliferation, according to gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA). Notably, the knockdown of CCDC103 in glioma cell lines resulted in a significant reduction in cell proliferation and migration. Conclusion: The correlation between CCDC103 expression and both glioma progression and immune cell infiltration implies that CCDC103 expression holds promise as a valuable prognostic biomarker for glioma.

RESUMEN

Construction of ordered structures that respond rapidly to environmental stimuli has fascinating possibilities for utilization in energy storage, wearable electronics, and biotechnology. Silicon/carbon (Si/C) anodes with extremely high energy densities have sparked widespread interest for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), while their implementation is constrained via mechanical structure deterioration, continued growth of the solid electrolyte interface (SEI), and cycling instability. In this study, a piezoelectric Bi0.5 Na0.5 TiO3 (BNT) layer is facilely deposited onto Si/C@CNTs anodes to drive piezoelectric fields upon large volume expansion of Si/C@CNTs electrode materials, resulting in the modulation of interfacial Li+ kinetics during cycling and providing an electrochemical reaction with a mechanically robust and chemically stable substrate. In-depth investigations into theoretical computation, multi-scale in/ex situ characterizations, and finite element analysis reveal that the improved structural stability, suppressed volume variations, and controlled ion transportation are responsible for the improvement mechanism of BNT decorating. These discoveries provide insight into the surface coupling technique between mechanical and electric fields to control the interfacial Li+ kinetics behavior and improve structural stability for alloy-based anodes, which will also spark a great deal attention from researchers and technologists in multifunctional surface engineering for electrochemical systems.

RESUMEN

The coronavirus pandemic has significantly affected the operation of the world's faith communities. The first reaction of different confessions to the introduction of corresponding restrictive measures was quite variable-it ranged from understanding and assisting the authorities to disobedience and deliberate violation of the quarantine regime. Today, religious precepts, values, and attitudes continue to exert an enormous influence on the behavioral patterns and public perception of the imposed COVID-19-related restrictions. In light of this, the present article aimed to study the effect of COVID-19 on religious communities' response to the pandemic progress to determine what tools of public influence can be used by secular authorities and religious leaders to counter the global viral threats. To achieve this goal, faith communities' reactions to restrictive measures adopted by the governments in relation to religious services and gatherings were analyzed. The study findings suggest that information campaigns launched by the secular authorities to prevent COVID-19 spread cannot offset the need for collective worshipping for a long time even under the possibility of being infected. Notwithstanding the fact that most modern world countries are secular and realize the freedom of religion or belief, this study calls for further discussion on the feasibility of additional regulations for religious communities in the context of the virus's active transmission. Along with this, it puts forward an offer for religious leaders to conduct more comprehensive explanatory work with believers concerning the pandemic issues from the perspective of religious dogmas. The research question concerns a review of academic research regarding the assessment of how secular authorities interacted with religious authorities in the context of the most common religions and churches and how much this changed the behavior of believers.

RESUMEN

The aim of this article is to explore the impact of housing investment on household entrepreneurship. Using survey data from China and employing a Probit model, we examine three aspects of housing status and innovatively subdivide household entrepreneurship into agricultural entrepreneurship and business entrepreneurship. The results show that households with higher housing investment are less likely to become agricultural entrepreneurs, but more likely to start a new business. Households with full-owned housing enjoy a higher likelihood to become business entrepreneurs. However, other ownerships have no relation with the choice of entrepreneurship. More housing loans discourage entrepreneurial activities. One exception is that bank loan raises the chance of being agricultural entrepreneurs. Households who build their own houses have a higher agricultural entrepreneurship. Buying market price houses encourages households to be business entrepreneurs. Low-price house and inherited house prevent households from being business entrepreneurs.

RESUMEN

Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) is a clonal hematopoietic stem cell malignancy, and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is the only curable treatment. The outcomes after transplant are influenced by both disease characteristics and patient comorbidities. To develop a novel prognostic model to predict the post-transplant survival of CMML patients, we identified risk factors by applying univariable and multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression to a derivation cohort. In multivariable analysis, advanced age (hazard ratio [HR] 3.583), leukocyte count (HR 3.499), anemia (HR 3.439), bone marrow blast cell count (HR 2.095), and no chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD; HR 4.799) were independently associated with worse survival. A novel prognostic model termed ABLAG (Age, Blast, Leukocyte, Anemia, cGVHD) was developed and the points were assigned according to the regression equation. The patients were categorized into low risk (0-1), intermediate risk (2, 3), and high risk (4-6) three groups and the 3-year overall survival (OS) were 93.3% (95%CI, 61%-99%), 78.9% (95%CI, 60%-90%), and 51.6% (95%CI, 32%-68%; p < .001), respectively. In internal and external validation cohort, the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves of the ABLAG model were 0.829 (95% CI, 0.776-0.902) and 0.749 (95% CI, 0.684-0.854). Compared with existing models designed for the nontransplant setting, calibration plots, and decision curve analysis showed that the ABLAG model revealed a high consistency between predicted and observed outcomes and patients could benefit from this model. In conclusion, combining disease and patient characteristic, the ABLAG model provides better survival stratification for CMML patients receiving allo-HSCT.

RESUMEN

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most fatal malignancies worldwide, mostly as a result of the absence of early detection and specific treatment solutions. Consequently, identifying mutational profiles and molecular biomarkers is essential for increasing the viability of precision therapy for pancreatic cancer. Methods: We collected blood and tumor tissue samples from 47 Chinese pancreatic cancer patients and used whole-exome sequencing (WES) to evaluate the genetic landscape. Results: Our results showed the most frequently somatic alteration genes were KRAS (74.5%), TP53(51.1%), SMAD4 (17%), ARID1A (12.8%), CDKN2A (12.8%), TENM4 (10.6%), TTN (8.5%), RNF43(8.5%), FLG (8.5%) and GAS6 (6.4%) in Chinese PDAC patients. We also found that three deleterious germline mutations (ATM c.4852C>T/p. R1618*, WRN c.1105C>T/p. R369*, PALB2 c.2760dupA/p. Q921Tfs*7) and two novel fusions (BRCA1-RPRML, MIR943 (intergenic)-FGFR3). When compared to the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, there is a greater mutation frequency of TENM4 (10.6% vs. 1.6%, p = 0.01), GAS6(6.4% vs. 0.5%, p = 0.035), MMP17(6.4% vs. 0.5%, p = 0.035), ITM2B (6.4% vs. 0.5%, p = 0.035) and USP7 (6.4% vs. 0.5%, p= 0.035) as well as a reduced mutation frequency of SMAD4 (17.0% vs. 31.5%, p = 0.075) and CDKN2A (12.8% vs. 47.3%, p < 0.001) were observed in the Chinese cohort. Among the 41 individuals examined for programmed cell death ligand 1(PD-L1) expression, 15 (36.6%) had positive PD-L1 expression. The median tumor mutational burden (TMB) was found to be 12muts (range, 0124). The TMB index was higher in patients with mutant-type KRAS MUT/TP53 MUT (p < 0.001), CDKN2A (p = 0.547), or SMAD4 (p = 0.064) compared to patients with wild-type KRAS/TP53, CDKN2A, or SMAD4. Conclusions: We exhibited real-world genetic traits and new alterations in Chinese individuals with cancer of the pancreas, which might have interesting implications for future individualized therapy and medication development.

RESUMEN

The main objective of this research is to develop a sustainable stock quantitative investing model based on Machine Learning and Economic Value-Added techniques for optimizing investment strategies. Quantitative stock selection and algorithmic trading are the two features of the model. Principal component analysis and economic value-added criteria are used in quantitative stock model for efficiently stocks selection, which may repeatedly select valuable stocks. Machine learning techniques such as Moving Average Convergence, Stochastic Indicators and Long-Short Term Memory are used in algorithmic trading. One of the first attempts, the Economic Value-Added indicators are used to appraise stocks in this study. Furthermore, the application of EVA in stock selection is exposed. Illustration of the proposed model has been done on United States stock market and finding shows that Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) networks can more accurately forecast future stock values. The proposed strategy is feasible in all market situations, with a return that is significantly larger than the market return. As a result, the proposed approach can not only assist the market in returning to rational investing, but also assist investors in obtaining significant returns that are both realistic and valuable.

RESUMEN

Methotrexate, etoposide, dexamethasone, and pegaspargase (MESA) with sandwiched radiotherapy is known to be effective for early-stage extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (NKTCL). We explored the efficacy and safety of reduced-intensity, non-intravenous etoposide, dexamethasone, and pegaspargase (ESA) with sandwiched radiotherapy. This multicenter, randomized, phase III trial enrolled patients aged between 14 and 70 years with newly diagnosed early-stage nasal NKTCL from 27 centers in China. Patients were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive ESA (pegaspargase 2,500 IU/m2 intramuscularly on day 1, etoposide 200 mg orally, and dexamethasone 40 mg orally on days 2-4) or MESA (methotrexate 1 g/m2 intravenously on day 1, etoposide 200 mg orally, and dexamethasone 40 mg orally on days 2-4, and pegaspargase 2,500 IU/m2 intramuscularly on day 5) regimen (four cycles), combined with sandwiched radiotherapy. The primary endpoint was overall response rate (ORR). The non-inferiority margin was -10.0%. From March 16, 2016, to July 17, 2020, 256 patients underwent randomization, and 248 (ESA [n = 125] or MESA [n = 123]) made up the modified intention-to-treat population. The ORR was 88.8% (95% confidence interval [CI], 81.9-93.7) for ESA with sandwiched radiotherapy and 86.2% (95% CI, 78.8-91.7) for MESA with sandwiched radiotherapy, with an absolute rate difference of 2.6% (95% CI, -5.6-10.9), meeting the non-inferiority criteria. Per-protocol and sensitivity analysis supported this result. Adverse events of grade 3 or higher occurred in 42 (33.6%) patients in the ESA arm and 81 (65.9%) in the MESA arm. ESA with sandwiched radiotherapy is an effective, low toxicity, non-intravenous regimen with an outpatient design, and can be considered as a first-line treatment option in newly diagnosed early-stage nasal NKTCL.

RESUMEN

Mn-based NASICON-type Na4MnV(PO4)3 (NMVP) has been widely investigated as one of the most promising alternatives to Na3V2(PO4)3 cathodes for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) due to its higher energy density, higher abundance, and lower cost and toxicity compared to V. However, electrochemical performance for large-scale applications is limited by NMVP's inferior conductivity and structural degradation during cycling. Herein, a facile strategy to modify the surface/interphase properties of NMVP/C was reported using the thermally stable Al(PO3)3 precursor with a wet process followed by heat treatment to enhance the interface stability of electrodes. The nanomodified layer has the benefits of an ionic conductor (slight NaPO3) and robust composite (Al(PO3)3), which can facilitate the stability of Mn-based cathode materials and ionic conductivity. These merits endow 1 wt% Al(PO3)3-loaded NMVP/C cathodes with a high rate performance (102/61 mAh g-1 at 0.2/50 C) and impressive cyclability (88.5%/89.7% at 5 C/10 C after 3000/4000 cycles) in Na-ion batteries at 2.5-3.8 V. Moreover, when the cutoff voltage is raised to 4 V, improved electrochemical properties (111.6/50.8 mAh g-1 at 0.2/10 C and 71.4% after 1000 cycles at 5 C) are also realized. Such an enhancement indicates that facial surface modification engineering limits organic electrolyte erosion, inhibits transition metal dissolution and suppresses surface lattice degradation, which is confirmed by ex situ X-ray diffractometry and transmission electron microscopy. Therefore, the Al(PO3)3 surface modification strategy combined with mechanism analysis can provide a possible reference for advanced electrochemical properties in energy storage devices.

RESUMEN

Na4MnV(PO4)3 (NMVP) is a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) because of its extraordinary three-dimensional structure that provides plenty of channels for sodium-ion migration. However, the unsatisfied electrical conductivity of NMVP limits its utilization in SIBs. Herein, Zn-doped NMVP with a uniform carbonized polyacrylonitrile (PAN) coating layer, named NMZVP@cPAN, was synthesized via a sol-gel method, and carbonized PAN was uniformly distributed on the surface of NMVP. Therefore, the NMZVP@cPAN cathodes exhibited an outstanding discharge capacity of 70.6 mA·h·g-1 at 30 C and remarkable cycling stability with an admirable retention of 89.64% after 1000 cycles at 5 C. Rietveld refinement and ex situ X-ray diffraction analyses were performed to determine the change in the crystal structure. Density functional theory calculations were performed to determine the effects of Zn doping on the density of states and the migration energy barriers. Finally, the NMZVP@cPAN cathodes were successfully modified and could be used in SIBs as NMVP cathodes.
