RESUMEN

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the leading method of radiation diagnosis of brain tumors. In conditions of the artificial contrast enhancement there are more clearly differentiated the boundaries of the tumor node on the back of peritumorous edema and identified structural features of the tumor. The purpose of this study was to examine indicators of the dynamics of accumulation and removal of contrast agents by brain tumors in MRI technique with dynamic contrast and identify opportunities of this method in the differential diagnosis of various types of tumors.

RESUMEN

AIM: Detection of circulation of West Nile virus (WNV) on the territory of Saratov Region and prerequisites for formation of natural focus of West Nile fever (WNF), determination of the role of WNV in infectious pathology on the territory of the region. MATERIALS AND METHODS: of organs of small mammals, birds, blood-sucking arthropods for the presence of WNV markers (antigens and/or RNA) were studied. Clinical material from patients with symptoms not excluding WNF was studied. Donor blood sera samples were analyzed with the aim of detection of immune layer against WNV in population of Saratov Region. RESULTS: In 2010 WNV antigens were detected by EIA in 12 samples (7.1%) of mammal organ suspensions. In 2012 by using RT-PCR and EIA, markers of WNV were detected in 6 samples of bird brain suspensions (6.3%) and 1 sample of mammal organ suspension. Immune layer of population against WNV was 4% in 2011, 2.8% in 2012. In 2012 in 11 of 27 examined patients IgM against WNV in diagnostic titers and/or serconversion of IgG in paired sera were detected. In addition in 5 individuals virus RNA was detected in blood. Based on clinical, laboratory data and epidemiologic anamnesis 11 patients were diagnosed with WNF. CONCLUSION: The results obtained give evidence on the circulation of WNV on the territory of Saratov Region in 2010 - 2012. With the development of complications of WNF epidemiologic situation in 2012 an expansion of WNV areal onto the territory of the region took place and the process of formation of WNF natural foci is ongoing.

RESUMEN

The paper analyzes relationships of the plague bacilli to the representatives of different types of living organisms inhabiting the burrows. The authors give their own data on the qualitative and quantitative composition of indicoles of the burrow of little sousliks (Spermophillus pygmaeus). They assess the role of mutagenic agents in burrow microbiocenoses.

RESUMEN

The role of necrophagy in the epizootic manifestations of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is first shown. By analyzing a great body of data obtained in the Saratov Region in 1982-2000, it has been established that the frequency of manifestations of necrophagy depends on many factors, the most important of which are a season, the size (density) of populations of small mammals, their species composition and the type of biotopes inhabited by these animals. Necrophagy is ascertained to be of great importance in HFRS foci as one of the alimentary routes of infection transmission in the parasitic systems. The presence or absence of necrophagy may serve as a preliminary test for the activity of HFRS foci.

RESUMEN

Status of tears was studied in patients with penetrating wounds to the eyes using polarization optic microscopy to assess the type of morphological types of crystals, measurements of secretory IgA to assess local immunity status, and screening methods to estimate protein level from the relative coefficient. A total of 122 patients with penetrating corneal and corneoscleral wounds were examined, 48 of these without clinical signs of infection and 74 with clinical manifestations of an infection. For control 88 subjects without somatic diseases or ocular diseases were examined. Crystallography revealed predominance of two morphologic types, Nos. 3 and 5, whose crystal structures were taken as the normal types. Their detection rate was reduced in penetrating wounds to the eye. Secondary morphologic types Nos. 14 and 16 reliably predominated in "pure" injuries and a secondary morphologic type 14 M in patients with developing infection (in 19 patients this type predominated during the preclinical form of infection of the eye). Increased IgA levels were observed in patients with noninfected injuries and reduced ones during infection. An infection was found associated with reduced protein level.

RESUMEN

A system for detection and diagnostication of mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) was organized to ensure the medico-genetic service of the families, where these diseases occurred. Content of intracellular and urinary glycosaminoglycans (GAG) was studied by means of a number of methods in various types of MPS. Amount of excreted GAG's was expressed as relative units to reduce the age differences. In all the patients with MPS hyperexcretion of GAG's was found, except of some cases of MPS IV, as well as the spectrum of non-dialyzed and cetyl pyridinium chloride precipitated GAG's was altered, where the latter fraction was increased and high molecular GAG's were also prevailed as compared with normal state. All the patients were divided into four classes depending on the spectrum of GAG's excreted as shown by means of electrophoresis. The data obtained in estimation of GAG's using electrophoretic technique corresponded to the results of column chromatographic analyses but the electrophoretic procedure was distinctly less labour-consuming.

RESUMEN

The frequency and polymorphism of erythrocyte G6Pd deficiency were studied in schoolchildren of Koby settlement, Apsheron district (n = 469). The total frequency of Gd- alleles was 3.6%. Out of 10 hemizygotes found 9 had Gd- alleles of the III class and 1 had Gd- allele of the II class. The mutant enzyme was isolated from 10 ml venous blood samples and studied according to WHO program. Three different mutant forms of G6PD were found, neither of them having been earlier described. One of these alleles was common for the population studied (n = 6).

RESUMEN

The authors have elaborated a program of selective screening of hereditary metabolic defects (HMD) ensuring the identification of over 100 disease entities as well as a program of the biochemical diagnosis and prophylaxis of mucopolysaccharidoses. More than 3000 patients who applied for help to the medical-genetic consultative centre were examined. Data on the incidence and genogeography of HMD were obtained.
