RESUMEN

The possibility of using oligonucleotides from MER1 family repeats as PCR primers for the amplification of human genome DNA fragments was studied. The recommended oligonucleotide primers were chosen by computer analysis of the data base of the EMBL (release 37.0) nucleotide sequences. Use of one of the oligonucleotides was shown to allow specific human DNA amplification to be carried out.

RESUMEN

A new method of mapping transcriptionally active genes of ribosomal proteins onto human chromosomes is proposed. The method is based on the detection of the expression of human ribosomal protein mRNA in rodent-human hybrid cells carrying different human chromosomes. Using this method, the functional gene of the human ribosomal protein S17 was mapped and the location of the S14 ribosomal protein gene on chromosome 5 was confirmed.

RESUMEN

The metabolism of juvenile hormone (JH) in imagos of two Drosophila species (D. virilis and D. melanogaster) was studied in the normal state and after short-term heat stress. Females of both species respond to stress by a decrease in the activity of JH esterase. This decrease is realized through a decrease in the amount of protein. JH metabolism in males does not change after heat stress. Genetic analysis of differences in the activity of DPF-resistant JH esterase in stress-sensitive and stress-resistant strains of D. virilis was performed. The differences are controlled by one autosomal gene.

RESUMEN

Localization of genes GALA, G6PD, HPRT and PGK on X-chromosome of Microtus subarvalis has been proved. Using the radiation hybrid mapping technique of Goss and Harris, the order of these genes for two species M. subarvalis and M. Kirgisorum was established. Statistical methods (program package RHMAP) result in the only gene order PKG--HPRT--G6PD--GALA for M. subarvalis. The same order was found to be the most probable for M. kirgisorum. Relative distances between these genes in two species appeared to be practically equal. A conservatism of a linear order of the X-linked genes in various mammalian taxons is discussed.
