RESUMEN

Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related diseaseis a systemic inflammatory condition of unknown etiology characterized by increases in serum IgG4 and in the number of IgG4-positive cells in affected tissues. One of the commonly involved locations is the pancreas; this condition is known as type 1 autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP). Type 1 AIP, which shows a biliary stricture in the intrapancreatic bile duct, can be misdiagnosed as a malignancy due to similar cholangiography findings and clinical presentation. In rare cases complicated by post-bulbar duodenal ulcers, differentiating between type 1 AIP and malignancies is even more difficult. An 81-year-old male was referred to our hospital for the treatment of a pancreatic head mass and obstructive jaundice. Serological and radiological findings were consistent with both type 1 AIP and a malignancy. Gastroduodenoscopy revealed a post-bulbar duodenal ulcer with endoscopic features that evoked malignant duodenal invasion. Although biopsies were negative for malignant cells, subsequent bleeding from the lesion suggested the progression of malignancy, which led to surgical resection. Pancreatoduodenectomy and pathological examination indicated that type 1 AIP was present. Simultaneously, the involvement of IgG4-related disease in the ulcerative lesion was suggested. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of type 1 AIP complicated by post-bulbar duodenal ulcers, which was misdiagnosed as malignancy and considered an IgG4-related gastrointestinal disease associated with type 1 AIP.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to compare the occupational radiation exposure of medical workers between general hospitals and university hospitals. METHODS: Radiation exposure data from three hospitals in Hiroshima city, including one university hospital and two general hospitals, were collected using personal dosimeters. Monthly radiation doses were analyzed, and the annual sum of radiation exposure dose was calculated for 538 subjects in general hospitals and 1224 subjects in the university hospital. To assess the impact of locality, additional data from Nagasaki University Hospital and Fukushima Medical University Hospital were included for comparative analysis. Professional affiliations, such as doctors, nurses, and radiological technologists, were considered in the evaluation. RESULTS: The study revealed slight but significant differences in radiation doses between general and university hospitals. In general hospitals, except for radiological technologists, a slightly higher radiation dose was observed compared to university hospitals. Despite the annual increase in the use of medical radiation, the majority of hospital workers in both settings adhered to safety guidelines, with occupational radiation exposure remaining below the limit of detection (LOD). Workers who involved in fluoroscopic procedure, whether at university or general hospitals, had higher radiation doses than those who did not. CONCLUSION: The study's primary conclusion is that workers in general hospitals experience a slight but significantly higher radiation dose and a lower percentage below the LOD compared to university hospitals. The observed difference is attributed to the greater workload at general hospitals than at university hospitals, and also may be due to the different nature of university hospital and general hospital. University hospitals, characterized by greater academic orientation, tend to benefit from comprehensive support systems, specialized expertise, and advanced technology, leading to more structured and regulated radiation control. These findings provide a basis for targeted interventions, improved safety protocols.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study is to reveal the respiratory displacement of the right adrenal vein (RAV) to predict the exact location of the RAV during adrenal venous sampling (AVS). METHODS: Computed tomography (CT) scans obtained 45 seconds (breath-hold at inhalation) and 70 seconds (breath-hold at exhalation) after contrast material injection were compared to venograms of the RAV of patients with primary aldosteronism who underwent AVS between January 2016 and December 2020. The craniocaudal distance between the center of the Th11/12 disc and the RAV orifice was measured; the craniocaudal location of the RAV orifice was also specified relative to vertebral bodies and intervertebral discs on inspiratory phase CT (In-CT), expiratory phase CT (Ex-CT), and catheter venography. The transverse and vertical angles of the RAV and the position of the RAV orifice on the inferior vena cava (IVC) circumference were measured on In-CT and Ex-CT. RESULTS: In total, 51 patients (30 males, 21 females; mean age, 54.9 ± 11.1 years) were included. Craniocaudal distances between the center of the Th11/12 disc and RAV orifice were significantly different among the following 3 acquisitions: catheter venography versus In-CT (15.2 ± 8.4 mm); venography versus Ex-CT (5.6 ± 4.1 mm); and In-CT versus Ex-CT (19.6 ± 8.0 mm) (all, P < 0.001). The craniocaudal location of the RAV orifice on venography was significantly closer to that on Ex-CT than on In-CT (P < 0.001); measurements using venograms compared with In-CT and Ex-CT scans were within 1 level difference in 18 (35.3%) and 47 (92.2%) patients, respectively (P < 0.001). The vertical angle of the RAV was significantly more likely to be smaller on In-CT than on Ex-CT (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: RAV locations and angles change with respiratory motion. It is crucial to consider the respiratory phase of CT because it can enable a more accurate prediction of the location of the RAV during AVS.

BACKGROUND: In the STEP-HFpEF (NCT04788511) and STEP-HFpEF DM (NCT04916470) trials, the GLP-1 receptor agonist semaglutide improved symptoms, physical limitations, bodyweight, and exercise function in people with obesity-related heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. In this prespecified pooled analysis of the STEP-HFpEF and STEP-HFpEF DM trials, we aimed to provide a more definitive assessment of the effects of semaglutide across a range of outcomes and to test whether these effects were consistent across key patient subgroups. METHODS: We conducted a prespecified pooled analysis of individual patient data from STEP-HFpEF and STEP-HFpEF DM, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials at 129 clinical research sites in 18 countries. In both trials, eligible participants were aged 18 years or older, had heart failure with a left ventricular ejection fraction of at least 45%, a BMI of at least 30 kg/m2, New York Heart Association class II-IV symptoms, and a Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire Clinical Summary Score (KCCQ-CSS; a measure of heart failure-related symptoms and physical limitations) of less than 90 points. In STEP-HFpEF, people with diabetes or glycated haemoglobin A1c concentrations of at least 6·5% were excluded, whereas for inclusion in STEP-HFpEF DM participants had to have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at least 90 days before screening and to have an HbA1c of 10% or lower. In both trials, participants were randomly assigned to either 2·4 mg semaglutide once weekly or matched placebo for 52 weeks. The dual primary endpoints were change from baseline to week 52 in KCCQ-CSS and bodyweight in all randomly assigned participants. Confirmatory secondary endpoints included change from baseline to week 52 in 6-min walk distance, a hierarchical composite endpoint (all-cause death, heart failure events, and differences in changes in KCCQ-CSS and 6-min walk distance); and C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations. Heterogeneity in treatment effects was assessed across subgroups of interest. We assessed safety in all participants who received at least one dose of study drug. FINDINGS: Between March 19, 2021 and March 9, 2022, 529 people were randomly assigned in STEP-HFpEF, and between June 27, 2021 and Sept 2, 2022, 616 were randomly assigned in STEP-HFpEF DM. Overall, 1145 were included in our pooled analysis, 573 in the semaglutide group and 572 in the placebo group. Improvements in KCCQ-CSS and reductions in bodyweight between baseline and week 52 were significantly greater in the semaglutide group than in the placebo group (mean between-group difference for the change from baseline to week 52 in KCCQ-CSS 7·5 points [95% CI 5·3 to 9·8]; p<0·0001; mean between-group difference in bodyweight at week 52 -8·4% [-9·2 to -7·5]; p<0·0001). For the confirmatory secondary endpoints, 6-min walk distance (mean between-group difference at week 52 17·1 metres [9·2 to 25·0]) and the hierarchical composite endpoint (win ratio 1·65 [1·42 to 1·91]) were significantly improved, and CRP concentrations (treatment ratio 0·64 [0·56 to 0·72]) were significantly reduced, in the semaglutide group compared with the placebo group (p<0·0001 for all comparisons). For the dual primary endpoints, the efficacy of semaglutide was largely consistent across multiple subgroups, including those defined by age, race, sex, BMI, systolic blood pressure, baseline CRP, and left ventricular ejection fraction. 161 serious adverse events were reported in the semaglutide group compared with 301 in the placebo group. INTERPRETATION: In this prespecified pooled analysis of the STEP-HFpEF and STEP-HFpEF DM trials, semaglutide was superior to placebo in improving heart failure-related symptoms and physical limitations, and reducing bodyweight in participants with obesity-related heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. These effects were largely consistent across patient demographic and clinical characteristics. Semaglutide was well tolerated. FUNDING: Novo Nordisk.

BACKGROUND: Obesity and type 2 diabetes are prevalent in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and are characterized by a high symptom burden. No approved therapies specifically target obesity-related heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in persons with type 2 diabetes. METHODS: We randomly assigned patients who had heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, a body-mass index (the weight in kilograms divided by the square of the height in meters) of 30 or more, and type 2 diabetes to receive once-weekly semaglutide (2.4 mg) or placebo for 52 weeks. The primary end points were the change from baseline in the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire clinical summary score (KCCQ-CSS; scores range from 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating fewer symptoms and physical limitations) and the change in body weight. Confirmatory secondary end points included the change in 6-minute walk distance; a hierarchical composite end point that included death, heart failure events, and differences in the change in the KCCQ-CSS and 6-minute walk distance; and the change in the C-reactive protein (CRP) level. RESULTS: A total of 616 participants underwent randomization. The mean change in the KCCQ-CSS was 13.7 points with semaglutide and 6.4 points with placebo (estimated difference, 7.3 points; 95% confidence interval [CI], 4.1 to 10.4; P<0.001), and the mean percentage change in body weight was -9.8% with semaglutide and -3.4% with placebo (estimated difference, -6.4 percentage points; 95% CI, -7.6 to -5.2; P<0.001). The results for the confirmatory secondary end points favored semaglutide over placebo (estimated between-group difference in change in 6-minute walk distance, 14.3 m [95% CI, 3.7 to 24.9; P = 0.008]; win ratio for hierarchical composite end point, 1.58 [95% CI, 1.29 to 1.94; P<0.001]; and estimated treatment ratio for change in CRP level, 0.67 [95% CI, 0.55 to 0.80; P<0.001]). Serious adverse events were reported in 55 participants (17.7%) in the semaglutide group and 88 (28.8%) in the placebo group. CONCLUSIONS: Among patients with obesity-related heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and type 2 diabetes, semaglutide led to larger reductions in heart failure-related symptoms and physical limitations and greater weight loss than placebo at 1 year. Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is respiratory failure that commonly occurs in critically ill patients, and the molecular mechanisms underlying its pathogenesis and severity are poorly understood. We evaluated mRNA and miRNA in patients with ARDS and elucidated the pathogenesis of ARDS after performing mRNA and miRNA integration analysis. Methods: In this single-center, prospective, observational clinical study of patients with ARDS, peripheral blood of each patient was collected within 24 hours of admission. Sequencing of mRNA and miRNA was performed using whole blood from the ARDS patients and healthy donors. Results: Thirty-four ARDS patients were compared with 15 healthy donors. Compared with the healthy donors, 1233 mRNAs and 6 miRNAs were upregulated and 1580 mRNAs and 13 miRNAs were downregulated in the ARDS patients. For both mRNA and miRNA-targeted mRNA, canonical pathway analysis showed that programmed death-1 (PD-1) and programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) cancer immunotherapy pathway was most activated and the Th2 pathway was most suppressed. For mRNA, the Th1 pathway was most suppressed. miR-149-3p and several miRNAs were identified as upstream regulators. Conclusion: miRNAs regulated the PD-1 and PD-L1 cancer immunotherapy pathway and Th2 pathway through miRNA interference action of mRNA. Integrated analysis of mRNAs and miRNAs showed that T cells were dysfunctional in ARDS patients.

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to elucidate the factors underlying the difference between estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) calculated from serum creatinine and Gate's GFR (gGFR) measured using technetium-99m diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid ( 99m Tc-DTPA) scintigraphy. METHODS: This study was based on consecutive patients who underwent 99m Tc-DTPA scintigraphy at our hospital between January 2021 and December 2022 and whose blood serum creatinine data were obtained on the same day as the 99m Tc-DTPA scintigraphy. Relationships between the ratio of gGFR and eGFR (gGFR/eGFR) and age, sex, BMI, visceral fat, psoas muscle index (PMI), serum blood urea nitrogen, and creatinine level were investigated based on 75 patients. Additionally, for 44 patients who had two or more follow-up DTPA studies, we compared gGFR values for studies that used iodine contrast media (ICM) for computed tomography before same-day 99m Tc-DTPA studies and those that did not in the same patients. RESULTS: Weak correlations were observed between gGFR/eGFR and PMI ( r  = 0.30), BMI ( r  = 0.24), and the visceral fat area ( r  = 0.33). Multi-regression analyses showed that gGFR/eGFR was correlated with PMI ( ß â€…= 0.34, P  < 0.01) and approached significance with the visceral fat area ( ß â€…= 0.24, P  = 0.05). A significant difference was observed in gGFR between patients who received ICM before the 99m Tc-DTPA renogram and those who did not ( P  < 0.001, eGFR 80.5 ±â€…19.0 vs. 91.7 ±â€…27.8 ml/min). CONCLUSION: ICM administration temporarily decreased gGFR, and increased muscle mass increased the difference between eGFR and gGFR values.

Coil migration can occur when coil embolization is used for treating pseudoaneurysms associated with large arteries. The double microcatheter technique is useful for preventing coil migration; the balloon catheter can reduce blood flow and active bleeding upon balloon inflation, and can also compress the bleeding point and arrest bleeding temporarily. We report a case describing the management of a pseudoaneurysm with coil embolization using double microcatheters and a balloon catheter to control blood flow and prevent coil migration. A 73-year-old male patient presented with a pseudoaneurysm of the celiac artery arising from the splenic artery stump following surgery. Coil embolization of the pseudoaneurysm using a double microcatheter embolization technique with a balloon catheter was considered. A balloon catheter was inserted into the celiac artery and active bleeding was temporarily arrested with the inflated balloon. First, a microcatheter was inserted into the balloon catheter, and another microcatheter was placed in the celiac artery. An electrical detachable coil was inserted into the proximal common hepatic artery just distal to the pseudoaneurysm. The second electrically detachable coil was inserted while the first coil remained attached. After detachment of the second coil, additional electrically detachable coils were inserted for similar embolization. The balloon was gradually deflated. Finally, the first coil was detached and we confirmed absence of the bleeding. Our case report demonstrated that a balloon catheter can control the flow vessels, and the double microcatheter embolization technique with a balloon catheter is useful for coil embolization in high-flow or large vessels.

BACKGROUND: Standard methods for deriving Centiloid scales from amyloid PET images are time-consuming and require considerable expert knowledge. We aimed to develop a deep learning method of automating Centiloid scale calculations from amyloid PET images with 11C-Pittsburgh Compound-B (PiB) tracer and assess its applicability to 18F-labeled tracers without retraining. METHODS: We trained models on 231 11C-PiB amyloid PET images using a 50-layer 3D ResNet architecture. The models predicted the Centiloid scale, and accuracy was assessed using mean absolute error (MAE), linear regression analysis, and Bland-Altman plots. RESULTS: The MAEs for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and young controls (YC) were 8.54 and 2.61, respectively, using 11C-PiB, and 8.66 and 3.56, respectively, using 18F-NAV4694. The MAEs for AD and YC were higher with 18F-florbetaben (39.8 and 7.13, respectively) and 18F-florbetapir (40.5 and 12.4, respectively), and the error rate was moderate for 18F-flutemetamol (21.3 and 4.03, respectively). Linear regression yielded a slope of 1.00, intercept of 1.26, and R2 of 0.956, with a mean bias of -1.31 in the Centiloid scale prediction. CONCLUSIONS: We propose a deep learning means of directly predicting the Centiloid scale from amyloid PET images in a native space. Transferring the model trained on 11C-PiB directly to 18F-NAV4694 without retraining was feasible.

Periodontal diseases are well-known background for infective endocarditis. Here, we show that pericardial effusion or pericarditis might have origin also in periodontal diseases. An 86-year-old man with well-controlled hypertension and diabetes mellitus developed asymptomatic increase in pericardial effusion. Two weeks previously, he took oral new quinolone antibiotics for a week because he had painful periodontitis along a dental bridge in the mandibular teeth on the right side and presented cheek swelling. The sputum was positive for Streptococcus species. He was healthy and had a small volume of pericardial effusion for the previous 5 years after drug-eluting coronary stents were inserted at the left anterior descending branch 10 years previously. The differential diagnoses listed for pericardial effusion were infection including tuberculosis, autoimmune diseases, and metastatic malignancy. Thoracic to pelvic computed tomographic scan demonstrated no mass lesions, except for pericardial effusion and a small volume of pleural effusion on the left side. Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography disclosed many spotty uptakes in the pericardial effusion. The patient denied pericardiocentesis, based on his evaluation of the risk of the procedure. He was thus discharged in several days and followed at outpatient clinic. He underwent dental treatment and pericardial effusion resolved completely in a month. He was healthy in 6 years until the last follow-up at the age of 92 years. We also reviewed 8 patients with pericarditis in association with periodontal diseases in the literature to reveal that periodontal diseases would be the background for developing infective pericarditis and also mediastinitis on some occasions.

OBJECTIVES: There is limited information on long-term outcomes and trajectories of ventricular and valvular functions in patients with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries after anatomic repair according to the operative strategy with a median follow-up period of more than 10 years. METHODS: Twenty-nine patients who underwent anatomic repair in Okayama University Hospital between January 1994 and December 2020 were reviewed. Outcomes were compared between patients who underwent a double switch operation (DS group) and patients with an atrial switch with a Rastelli operation (Rastelli-Senning/Mustard group). RESULTS: Fifteen (52%) were in the DS group and 14 (48%) were in the Rastelli-Senning/Mustard group. The median follow-up period after anatomic repair was 12.7 (interquartile range 4.2-18.8) years. There were 3 (10%) early deaths and 3 (10%) late deaths. Survival rates for the entire cohort at 10 and 20 years were 86% and 71%, respectively, and were not different between the 2 groups. Using competing risk analysis, risks of heart failure, cardiac rhythm device implantation and atrial arrhythmia showed no significant differences between the 2 groups, whereas risk of reoperation was higher in the Rastelli-Senning/Mustard group than that in the DS group. Four patients after a DS operation and 1 patient after a Rastelli technique developed more than moderate aortic regurgitation. CONCLUSIONS: During a median follow-up period of more than 10 years, mortality rate and ventricular and valvular functions after anatomic repair were acceptable, though the incidences of late complications were relatively high, especially in the Rastelli-Senning/Mustard group.

The aim of this study is to determine the factors affecting the CT attenuation of bone marrow, and its correlation with 18F-FDG uptake. The mean standardized uptake value (SUV) of vertebral bone marrow (Vertebral-SUV) and femoral bone marrow (Femoral-SUV) as well as CT number of bone marrow (BM-CT number) were measured in 243 patients who had undergone 18F-FDG PET/CT. The correlations among BM-CT number, Femoral-SUV, and Vertebral-SUV were investigated. The relationships of Femoral-SUV, Vertebral-SUV, and BM-CT number with blood parameters, age, blood sugar, and body weight were analyzed by correlation and multi-regression analyses. The Mann-Whitney U test and chi-square test and Binomial logistic analysis were used to examine the relationships between high BM-CT number (≥ 0 HU) and the above parameters. Significant correlations were observed between: BM-CT number and Femoral-SUV (r = 0.73, P < 0.01); Vertebral-SUV and Femoral-SUV (r = 0.78, P < 0.01); and BM-CT number and Vertebral-SUV (r = 0.52, P < 0.01). BM-CT number was correlated with patients' age in both univariable (r = -0.27) and multivariable analyses (ß = -0.20). Positive BM-CT number correlated with WBC in both univariable (P = 0.04) and multivariable (P < 0.01) analyses. Bone marrow glucose metabolism had a tendency to decrease with age, was increased in patients with elevated CRP. In conclusion, CT attenuation of bone marrow correlated well with bone marrow metabolism and also tended to decrease with age. High bone marrow attenuation (≥ 0 HU) could predict elevated serum WBC.

In summer, the survival zones of cold-water species are predicted to narrow by both increasing water temperatures from the surface and by expanding hypoxic zones from the lake bottom. To examine how the abundance of cold-water fishes changes along environmental gradients, we assessed the vertical environmental DNA (eDNA) distributions of three salmonid species which may have different water temperature tolerances during both stratification and turnover periods using quantitative PCR (qPCR). In addition, we examined on the vertical distribution of diverse fish fauna using an eDNA metabarcoding assay. The results suggested that the kokanee salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka) eDNA were abundant in deep, cold waters. On the other hand, rainbow trout (O. mykiss) eDNA were distributed uniformly throughout the water column, suggesting that they may have high water-temperature tolerance compared with kokanee salmon. The eDNA concentrations of masu salmon (O. masou) were below the detection limit (i.e., <10 copies µL-1) at all stations and depths and hence could not be quantified during stratification. Together with the finding that the eDNA distributions of other prey fish species were also constrained vertically in species-specific ways, our results suggest that climate change will result in substantial changes in the vertical distributions of lake fish species and thus affect their populations and interactions.

RESUMEN

Lupus protein-losing enteropathy (LUPLE) is a rare condition in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Since the causes and exact pathological mechanism have not been elucidated, appropriate treatment has not been determined. Here, we report the case of a 69-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus who developed LUPLE which was successfully treated with belimumab without an increase in glucocorticoid dose. This case suggests that belimumab monotherapy may be a treatment option for LUPLE.

OBJECTIVES: This study documents the time elapsed from the diagnosis of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) to surgery, exploring the factors that influence ONFH severity. DESIGN: Retrospective observational study of a nationwide database. SETTING: The Kaplan-Meier method with log-rank tests was applied to examine the period from definitive diagnosis of ONFH to surgery using any surgery as the end point. For bilateral cases, the date of the first surgery was the endpoint. PARTICIPANTS: This study included 2074 ONFH cases registered in 34 university hospitals and highly specialised hospitals of the multicentre sentinel monitoring system of the Japanese Investigation Committee between 1997 and 2018. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: The primary outcome was the time from diagnosis to surgery. The secondary outcome was the proportion of subjects remaining without surgery at 3, 6 and 9 months, and at 1, 2 and 5 years after diagnosis. RESULTS: The median time to surgery was 9 months (IQR 4-22 months) after diagnosis of ONFH. The time to surgery was significantly shorter in the alcohol alone group and the combined corticosteroid and alcohol group than in the corticosteroid alone group (p=0.018 and p<0.001, respectively), in early stage ONFH with no or mild joint destruction (stages II and III, p<0.001), and with joint preserving surgery (p<0.001). The proportion without surgery was 75.8% at 3 months, 59.6% at 6 months, 48.2% at 9 months, 40.5% at 1 year, 22.2% at 2 years and 8.3% at 5 years. CONCLUSION: ONFH has been considered to be an intractable disease that often requires surgical treatment, but the fact that surgery was performed in more than half of the patients within 9 months from diagnosis suggests severe disease with a significant clinical impact. BACKGROUND: Dual-energy computed tomography (DE-CT) can differentiate between hemorrhage and iodine contrast medium leakage following mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). We determined whether subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and subarachnoid iodine leakage (SAIL) on DE-CT following MT were associated with malignant brain edema (MBE). METHODS: We analyzed the medical records of 81 consecutive anterior circulation AIS patients who underwent MT. SAH or SAIL was diagnosed via DE-CT performed immediately after MT. We compared the procedural data, infarct volumes, MBE, and modified Rankin scale 0-2 at 90 days between patients with and without SAH and between patients with and without SAIL. Furthermore, we evaluated the association between patient characteristics and MBE. RESULTS: A total of 20 (25%) patients had SAH and 51 (63%) had SAIL. No difference in diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI)-infarct volume before MT was observed between patients with and without SAH or patients with and without SAIL. However, patients with SAIL had larger DWI-infarct volumes 1 day following MT than patients without SAIL (95 mL vs 29 mL; p=0.003). MBE occurred in 12 of 81 patients (15%); more patients with SAIL had MBE than patients without SAIL (22% vs 3%; p=0.027). Severe SAIL was significantly associated with MBE (OR, 12.5; 95% CI, 1.20-131; p=0.006), whereas SAH was not associated with MBE. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that SAIL on DE-CT immediately after MT was associated with infarct volume expansion and MBE.
