RESUMEN

We examined 50 children at the age of 4-17 suffering from chronic gastritis. AntiH+/K+-ATPhase antibodies of gastric parietal cells, anti-EBV antibodies IgG EA and IgM VCA were determined with the help of immune-enzyme analysis methods. The first group comprised 28 children with a high level of antiparietal antibodies in the blood serum, and 22 children with a normal level of antiparietal antibodies made up the second group. The HP identification was carried out for all children. Anti-EBV antibodies IgG EA were found in 72% of children, and there were no statistical differences in the frequency and level of antibodies IgG EA. IgM VCA were not found in any of the patients. However, HP-infection was revealed in 64.3% in the first group vs. 22.7% in the second group (p < 0,05); the combination of HB and chronic EBV infection was also more frequent in the first group than in the second group (42.8% and 18.1%, respectively, p < 0,05).

RESUMEN

We examined: 1 group--16 children with chronic gastritis (CG) and autoimmune thyroiditis (AT); 2 group--41 children with functional thyroidal pathologies; 3 group--23 children with CG only. The average age in all groups was 11.17 +/- 2.98. HP (68%) was revealed equally frequently in all the groups. Antibodies to H+/K(+)-ATPase of parietal cells were revealed in the first and second groups only (31-36%), p < 0.05 as compared to the third group. CG of the stomach body was more frequently revealed in the first group using endoscopic and histological tests. The second group had more frequent and more apparent lesions of the antral part. Thus, in case of concomitant diseases of the thyroid gland CG has an autoimmune nature of an inflammation of the mucous coat of the stomach.

RESUMEN

The authors studied the glucocorticoid function of the adrenals in 117 patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) and in 37 children of the control group. Relation between the level of cortisol in the blood plasma and sex, age form and duration of the disease, indices of the clinical, laboratory and immunological activity, the nature of roentgenological changes in the joints and therapy was analysed. A decrease in the glucocorticoid function of the adrenal cortex correlated with the severity of the clinical forms and duration of the disease, being especially manifest in children of younger age. Hormonal therapy also causes significant and prolonged inhibition of the glucocorticoid function. The total contribution of the analysed sings of the disease being most significant for JRA from the clinical point of view did not influence much changes in cortisol concentration in the blood of the patients.

RESUMEN

The authors discuss the effect of exotoxin of beta-hemolytic streptococcus (streptolysin-O) on the chemotactic activity of the peripheral blood leukocytes. 107 children with various forms of rheumatic fever and acute diseases of Streptococcal etiology and 18 healthy children were examined. The absence of the phenomenon of a specific chemotactic deactivation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes in response to streptolysin-O in healthy persons and in those suffering from rheumatic fever has been revealed. Sharply marked sensitization of polymorphonuclear leukocytes to streptolysin-O in patients with rheumatism increasing in the course of the disease and remaining in the inactive phase has been noted. The functional activity of polymorphonuclear leukocytes is characterized by chemotactic deactivation in response to streptolysin O that probably provides a favorable outcome of the disease.

RESUMEN

Overall 111 healthy children aged 3 to 7 years, 71 children with ARVI and those aged 2 to 14 years with ARVI complicated by bronchitis and pneumonia were examined. The level and rate of IL-1 production by peripheral blood monocytes in response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were determined. It has been established that 98.7% of the healthy children responded to LPS by marked production of IL-1. In 3 children, there was po synthesis of IL-1, in 26.1% of the healthy children, peripheral blood monocytes produced IL-1 without addition of LPS. In children with respiratory bacterial infections, there was a significant increase of IL-1 production as compared to the control. IL-1 production in ARVI was lowered.
