RESUMEN

Using daily yield data of 14 sovereign bond markets from emerging and developed economies from July 10, 2000, to July 10, 2022, we examine their scaling properties using generalized Hurst exponent and spectral density analysis and investigate the connectedness based on a network analysis approach. We consider the yields of 2-year and 10-year bond yields to investigate the scaling properties for short- and long-term sovereign bonds. This selection also allows us to examine sovereign bond spreads with respect to the USA. We also use regularized partial correlation network analysis to connect different countries in communities based on yields. We find that the scaling behavior of the bond yields for both terms fits well using the Hurst exponent and spectral analysis confirms this finding. Moreover, we also find that even though bonds in both cohorts show anti-persistent behavior except that of the USA, the developed economies' bond yields are relatively less anti-persistent as compared to those of emerging economies. The networks of both the 2-year and 10-year yields indicate community formation in various countries which provides diversification benefits to the investors. Most of the emerging countries are classified into one community in the long-tenure bonds as well but this concentration is more evident in the short-tenure bonds.

RESUMEN

Invasive isolated renal aspergilloma in an immunocompetent host is rare, and few cases have been reported in the literature. It is a unique entity encountered by a urologist that can lead to catastrophic complications like end-stage renal disease. Infective pathology may closely resemble renal mass, and timely, appropriate investigations are obligatory for early intervention. This case report highlights the importance of strong consideration of renal fungal infections in the differential diagnosis of a renal mass with atypical radiological findings in an immunocompetent host. Meticulous decision-making and appropriate management help to prevent disastrous sequelae.

RESUMEN

Blunt or penetrating trauma resulting in injury or rupture of the diaphragm is rare and constitutes about 1% to 3.9% of all thoraco-abdominal injuries. It is often regarded as a marker of severe trauma. Unfortunately about half of these injuries can be missed during the index admission. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography is the best modality to assess the extent, size of diaphragmatic defect and nature of hernial contents. Surgery is mandatory once the diagnosis is made to prevent future strangulation of hernial contents. Although technically challenging, laparoscopic reduction and mesh repair is feasible in expert hands. We report our experience with laparoscopic repair and mesh re-enforcement in a patient who had a large right diaphragmatic hernia with part of liver, gallbladder, small bowel and omentum within the right hemithorax secondary to a penetrating trauma he had incurred 29 years earlier.

RESUMEN

We are reporting a very rare case in the current era of modern diagnostics of an incidentally detected Transitional Cell Carcinoma(TCC) renal pelvis, detected pathologically when Right laparoscopic radical nephrectomy specimen of lower pole mass(RCC) was processed, with no prior suspicion of TCC clinically or pre-operative imaging. A 75-year-old female with 4 × 4cm strongly enhancing lower pole renal mass on CTscan underwent a Laparoscopic Radical Nephrectomy. Surprisingly histopathological examination revealed a focus of low-grade TCC, arising from renal pelvis, completely separate from lower pole mass which was a clear cell RCC.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Duodenal carcinoids (neuroendocrine tumour) are rare tumour, but recently, increase in incidence has been noted. Various techniques for excision of tumour have been described in literature, but very few case reports and case series have mentioned about laparoscopic management of carcinoid tumour. We describe a case series of seven cases of duodenal non-periampullary carcinoids which was managed by laparoscopic method. AIMS: The aim of the study was to check feasibility of laparoscopic management of duodenal carcinoid and technique of surgery. SETTINGS AND DESIGN: This study design was a case series and prospective data were retrospectively collected. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 7 patients were operated for carcinoid tumour of duodenum mainly involving first part by laparoscopic method from February 2016 to January 2017. All patients were followed up for minimum 1-year period and various pre-operative, intra-operative findings and post-operative outcome were noted. RESULTS: Out of seven patients, 6 patient were managed by laparoscopic duodenotomy and transduodenal excision whereas one patient required duodenectomy of first part. Mean operative time was 99 min, mean intraoperative blood loss was 55.7, mean hospital stay was 99.7 and no recurrence in a 1-year follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic excision of carcinoid tumour is safe, technically reproducible and feasible method.
