RESUMEN

Metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC) has the worst prognosis among breast cancer subtypes. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) plus chemotherapy have promising survival benefits. Herein, we report a 51-year-old woman whose metastatic lesions were diagnosed as triple-negative subtype and who received tislelizumab plus eribulin treatment and achieved excellent efficacy. To our knowledge, this study is the first attempt to present tislelizumab in combination with eribulin for mTNBC treatment. New treatments resulting in prolonged survival and durable clinical responses would benefit mTNBC patients. Then, we summarize the possible influencing factors of the interaction between tislelizumab and eribulin.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To understand the awareness and practice of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) or nephropathy screening among community-based patients with type 2 diabetes in six provinces and cities in China, and to analyse the related factors affecting screening practices. METHODS: From December 2021 to March 2022, a cross-sectional survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire in 6230 patients with type 2 diabetes aged 18 years and older. The content of the questionnaire includes three parts: the general situation of diabetic patients (gender, age, ethnicity, marriage, education, occupation, etc.), DKD screening practices, and the evaluation of DKD screening services. RESULTS: 89.70% of the patients had their fasting blood glucose measured every six months, 21.12% of the patients had their glycosylated hemoglobin measured every six months, and only 13.11% and 9.34% of the patients had a urine protein-creatinine ratio test and estimated glomerular filtration rate test every 12 months. The proportions of glycosylated hemoglobin, urine protein-creatinine ratio, and estimated glomerular filtration rate were relatively high in young, northern, highly educated, and long-duration type 2 diabetic patients. CONCLUSION: The results of this survey found that the proportion of urine protein-creatinine ratio testing, estimated glomerular filtration rate testing, and glycosylated hemoglobin testing in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes was very low. Patients with type 2 diabetes in rural areas, southern areas, with low education level, and short course of disease have lower detection rates for DKD, and hence lower rates of prevention and treatment.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The pathophysiology and the potential risks of placental transfusion (PT) differ substantially in preterm infants, necessitating specific studies in this population. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of PT in preterm infants from the perspective of long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes. METHODS: We conducted a systematic literature search using placental transfusion, preterm infant, and its synonyms as search terms. Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Medline, and Embase were searched until March 07, 2023. Two reviewers independently identified, extracted relevant randomized controlled trials, and appraised the risk of bias. The extracted studies were included in the meta-analysis of long-term neurodevelopmental clinical outcomes using fixed-effects models. RESULTS: A total of 5612 articles were identified, and seven randomized controlled trials involving 2551 infants were included in our meta-analysis. Compared with immediate cord clamping (ICC), PT may not impact adverse neurodevelopment events. No clear evidence was found of a difference in the risk of neurodevelopmental impairment (risk ratio [RR]: 0.89, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.76 to 1.03, P = 0.13, I2 = 0). PT was not associated with the incidence of cerebral palsy (RR: 1.23, 95% CI: 0.59 to 2.57, P = 0.79, I2 = 0). Analyses showed no differences between the two interventions in cognitive, language, and motor domains of neurodevelopment. CONCLUSIONS: From the perspective of long-term neurodevelopment, PT at preterm birth may be as safe as ICC. Future studies should focus on standardized, high-quality clinical trials and individual participant data to optimize cord management strategies for preterm infants after birth.

RESUMEN

Calpain and PARP-NF-κB signaling are reported to participate in the ischemic brain injury. In this study, it was investigated whether calpain was contributed to the neurovascular unit (NVU) damage through up-regulating PARP-NF-κB signaling during experimental ischemic stroke. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were suffered from 90 min of middle cerebral artery occlusion, followed by reperfusion. The NVU damage was evaluated by the permeability of blood-brain barrier (BBB), the degradation of proteins in extracellular matrix and tight junctions, and ultrastructural changes. The inflammatory response was determined by the expression of inflammatory genes driven by PARP-NF-κB signaling and the activities of myeloperoxidase (MPO). Treatment with MDL 28,170, a calpain inhibitor, improved neurological functions, reduced TUNEL staining index, lessened brain swelling, and decreased infarct volume in ischemic rats. Moreover, it reduced the BBB permeability, enhanced the levels of laminin, collagen IV and occludin, and attenuated the ultrastructural damage of NVU in penumbra and core after induction of ischemia. Meanwhile, it enhanced the levels of cytosolic IκBα, lessened the levels of nuclear PARP and NF-κB p65, reduced the levels of ICAM-1, TNF-α, IL-1ß, MMP-9, and MMP-2,and suppressed the activities of MPO in penumbra and core. These data showed that calpain inhibition suppressed PARP-NF-κB signaling-mediated inflammatory response, reduced NVU damage, and protected brain against ischemic stroke, suggesting the involvement of calpain in the NVU damage through up-regulating PARP-NF-κB signaling during brain ischemia.

RESUMEN

In this study, the grain boundary character distribution (GBCD) of a B10 alloy was optimized, employing thermomechanical processing consisting of friction stirring processing (FSP) and annealing treatment. Using electron backscatter diffraction, the effects of rotational speed of FSP and annealing time on the evolution of GBCD were systematically investigated. The GBCD evolution was analyzed concerning various parameters, such as the fraction of low-Σ coincidence site lattice (CSL) boundaries, the average number of grains per twin-related domain (TRD), the length of longest chain (LLC), and the triple junction distribution. The experimental results revealed that the processing of a 1400 rpm rotational speed of FSP followed by annealing at 750 °C for 60 min resulted in the optimum grain boundary engineering (GBE) microstructure with the highest fraction of low-Σ CSL boundaries being 82.50% and a significantly fragmented random boundary network, as corroborated by the highest average number of grains per TRD (14.73) with the maximum LLC (2.14) as well as the highest J2/(1 - J3) value (12.76%). As the rotational speed of FSP increased from 600 rpm to 1400 rpm, the fraction of low-Σ CSL boundaries monotonously increased. The fraction of low-Σ CSL boundaries first increased and then decreased with an increase in annealing time. The key to achieving GBE lies in inhibiting the recrystallization phenomenon while stimulating abundant multiple twinning events through strain-induced boundary migration.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of using the teach-back method prior to contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on patients' knowledge and satisfaction as well as the clarity of the resulting scans. METHODS: A total of 254 patients who underwent contrast-enhanced MRI examination from July 4, 2022 to September 19, 2022 were enrolled and assigned to the intervention and control groups. Patients in the intervention group received education using the teach-back method, while those in the control group were given routine health education. A questionnaire that included patients' knowledge of contrast-enhanced MRI examination was answered before and after patient education. Data on patient satisfaction with nursing services were also collected. The clarity of the MRI images of all patients was assessed. RESULTS: The scores of knowledge related to MRI after receiving education were significantly higher than those before receiving education (P < 0.001), and there were no significant differences between the intervention and control groups (11.27 ± 9.74 vs. 12.07 ± 8.71, P = 0.498). The score of satisfaction with nursing service in the teach-back group was significantly higher than that in the control group (39.82 ± 0.86 vs. 38.59 ± 3.73, P < 0.001), as was the image clarity score (96.4 ± 0.5 vs. 95.0 ± 0.4, P = 0.039). CONCLUSION: Teach-back improves patient satisfaction and contrast-enhanced MRI clarity. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: Including teach-back in patient education improves patient satisfaction and contrast-enhanced MRI clarity.

RESUMEN

The often-overlooked importance of foliar absorption on the plant uptake of organic pollutants was investigated by an exposure chamber test. Rice seedlings were exposed to organophosphate esters (OPEs) through 8 scenarios arranged from 3 major uptake pathways: root uptake via solution, foliar uptake via gas, and foliar uptake via particles, to identify the contributions of these 3 uptake pathways and their influences on the translocation and metabolism of OPEs in rice. The concentration of OPEs in rice tissues showed an "additive effect" with the increase of exposure pathways. OPEs in rice shoots mainly originated from foliar uptake through particle (29.6 %-63.5 %) and gaseous (28.5 %-49.4 %) absorptions rather than root uptake (7.86 %-24.2 %) under the exposure condition. In comparison with stomal absorption, wax layer penetration was the main pathway for most OPEs to enter into leaves, especially for those compounds with high octanol-air partition coefficients. Although the subcellular distributions of OPEs in the rice tissues of the foliar exposure were slightly different from those of the root exposure, hydrophobic OPEs were mainly stored in the cell wall with hydrophilic OPEs mainly in the cytosol. The translocation of OPEs from the exposed tissue to the unexposed tissue were significantly negatively correlated with their octanol-water partition coefficients, but their basipetal translocation were limited. The result suggested that the translocation of OPEs within rice is prioritized over their degradation. This study deepens our understanding of the processes behind OPE uptake by rice and highlights the importance of foliar uptake, especially for those via particle absorption.

RESUMEN

A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, H13-6T, was isolated from a microbial fermentation bed material collected from a pig farm located in Yan'an, Shaanxi, China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain H13-6T was affiliated with the genus Xanthomonas and showed highest similarity to strain Xanthomonas maliensis M97T (98.38%), Xanthomonas prunicola CFBP 8353T (98.26%) and Xanthomonas oryzae ATCC 35933T (98.11%). The pairwise ortho Average Nucleotide Identity values and the digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain H13-6T and the other Xanthomonas species were all below their respective cut-offs. Two genes encoding for chitinase were found and the strain showed a strong chitin-degrading activity. The major fatty acids were Iso-C15:0 (55.9%), Antesio-C15:0 (7.4%) and Iso-C11:0 (5.5%) and the major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidyglycerol and phosphatidylethanolamine. Based on the phenotypic properties and phylogenetic distinctiveness, Xanthomonas chitinilytica was proposed as a novel species of the genus Xanthomonas, with strain H13-6T (= CGMCC 1.61317T = NBRC 115641T) as type strain.

RESUMEN

Background: Pharyngeal packs are employed to mitigate postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and have become prevalent in dental and otolaryngological surgeries. However, their clinical efficacy continues to be a topic of debate. The objective of the present study was to conduct a quantitative assessment of the impact of pharyngeal packing in dental and otolaryngological surgeries through meta-analysis. Methods: We identified relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) through systematic searches of online databases, including PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central. Potential eligible studies were evaluated using the Jadad scoring system (range 0-5 points), with only high-quality RCTs (3 points or more) being included. The incidence of PONV, morbidity, and the level of throat pain were aggregated and estimated. Publication bias was evaluated using funnel plot symmetry and the Egger test. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system was utilized to rate the evidence. Results: Ten high-quality RCTs comprising 1026 participants were ultimately included. Subsequent quantitative pooled estimation unveiled that the utilization of pharyngeal packing did not lead to a significant reduction in the incidence of nausea (P = .272), vomiting (P = .775), overall PONV (P = .118), or throat pain (P = .149). By contrast, the application of pharyngeal packs was found to significantly increase the level of throat pain (P = .003). No obvious publication bias was detected, and the majority of evidence was rated high or moderate. Conclusion: Based on the existing evidence, we conclude that pharyngeal packing lacks clinical benefit and is not advised for dental and otolaryngological surgeries.

RESUMEN

Surgical resections of solid tumors guided by visual inspection of tumor margins have been performed for over a century to treat cancer. Near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence labeling/imaging of tumor in the NIR-I (800 to 900 nm) range with systemically administrated fluorophore/tumor-targeting antibody conjugates have been introduced to improve tumor margin delineation, tumor removal accuracy, and patient survival. Here, we show Au25 molecular clusters functionalized with phosphorylcholine ligands (AuPC, ~2 nm in size) as a preclinical intratumorally injectable agent for NIR-II/SWIR (1,000 to 3,000 nm) fluorescence imaging-guided tumor resection. The AuPC clusters were found to be uniformly distributed in the 4T1 murine breast cancer tumor upon intratumor (i.t.) injection. The phosphocholine coating afforded highly stealth clusters, allowing a high percentage of AuPC to fill the tumor interstitial fluid space homogeneously. Intra-operative surgical navigation guided by imaging of the NIR-II fluorescence of AuPC allowed for complete and non-excessive tumor resection. The AuPC in tumors were also employed as a photothermal therapy (PTT) agent to uniformly heat up and eradicate tumors. Further, we performed in vivo NIR-IIb (1,500 to 1,700 nm) molecular imaging of the treated tumor using a quantum dot-Annexin V (QD-P3-Anx V) conjugate, revealing cancer cell apoptosis following PTT. The therapeutic functionalities of AuPC clusters combined with rapid renal excretion, high biocompatibility, and safety make them promising for clinical translation.

RESUMEN

A novel endophytic bacterium, designated strain BT6-1-3T, was isolated from the root nodules of a leguminous shrub named Sophora davidii (Franch.) Skeels, found growing wild in Yan'an, Shaanxi Province, China. Cells were Gram-staining-negative, non-motile, catalase-positive, oxidase-positive, and did not produce H2S. Strain BT6-1-3T grew at 15-40 °C (optimum 30 °C), at pH 6.0-10.0 (optimum pH 9.0), and with 0-1% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 0.5%). The quinone system was menaquinone 6. The major fatty acids present in BT6-1-3T were iso-C11:0, iso-C15:0, and C16:0. The G+C content of genomic DNA was 39.4 mol% by whole genome sequencing. According to the analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence, the closest relative was Kaistella montana WG4 (nucleotide identity was 97.6%). The genome of strain BT6-1-3T was sequenced, and the genome similarity was calculated using average nucleotide identity and genome-to-genome distance analysis with the genomes of other strains of Kaistella. Both strongly supported that the strain BT6-1-3T belonged to the genus Kaistella as a representative of a new species. Based on phylogenetic analysis, chemotaxonomic data, and physiological and biochemical characteristics, strain BT6-1-3T represents a new species of the genus Kaistella and is named as Kaistella yananensis sp. nov. Type strain is BT6-1-3T (= NBRC 115452T = CGMCC 1.60032T).

RESUMEN

The aim of this work was to investigate the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation on the proliferation and differentiation of endogenous neural stem cells (NSCs) in rats with spinal cord injury (SCI). One hundred rats were included and randomly divided into the sham-operation (SO) group, model (MO) group, EA group, and preacupuncture stimulation (PAS) group, with 25 rats in each group. All the rats in the SO group had their spinal cord of thoracic segment T10 exposed but without SCI. In the remaining three groups, the modified Allen's weight dropping method was adopted to make SCI models. Those in the SO group and the MO group did not receive any treatment. Those in the EA group were treated with EA after the modelling was completed, which stopped when the samples were collected at each time point. The spinal cord tissue of rats was subjected to immunohistochemical staining and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect the expressions of neurofilament nestin and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). The Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) score of the MO group was much lower than that of the SO group on the 3rd, 7th, and 14th days after surgery (P < 0.05). The BBB scores of the EA group and PAS group were notably higher than that of the MO group (P < 0.05). The number of nestin-, GFAP-, and MAP-2-positive cells was significantly increased in rat tissues after spinal cord injury. On the 3rd, 7th, and 14th days postoperatively, the numbers of nestin-positive cells in the EA and PAS groups were considerably higher than those in the MO group (P < 0.01). However, the numbers of GFAP-positive cells in the EA and PAS groups were considerably decreased compared with those in the MO group (P < 0.01). The positive rate of MAP-2 in the model group was significantly increased compared to that in the sham-operation group (P < 0.001). The positive rates of MAP-2 in the EA group and PAS group were significantly higher than those in the MO group (P < 0.01). After spinal cord injury, EA could activate the proliferation of endogenous NSCs and promote their differentiation into neuronal cells. Consequently, injuries were repaired, and functions were rehabilitated.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Preliminary clinical trials of adamgammadex, a new cyclodextrin-based selective reversal agent, have demonstrated its efficacy in reversing neuromuscular block by rocuronium. METHODS: This multicentre, randomised, double-blind, positive-controlled, non-inferiority phase III clinical trial compared the efficacy and safety of adamgammadex and sugammadex. We randomised 310 subjects to receive adamgammadex (4 mg kg-1) or sugammadex (2 mg kg-1) at reappearance of the second twitch of the train-of-four (TOF), and standard safety data were collected. RESULTS: For the primary outcome, the proportion of patients with TOF ratio ≥0.9 within 5 min was 98.7% in the adamgammadex group vs 100% in the sugammadex group, with a point estimate and 95% confidence interval (CI) of 1.3% (-4.6%, +1.3%); the lower limit was greater than the non-inferiority margin of -10%. For the key secondary outcome, the median (inter quartile range) time from the start of administration of adamgammadex or sugammadex to recovery of TOF ratio to 0.9 was 2.25 (1.75, 2.75) min and 1.75 (1.50, 2.00) min, respectively. The difference was 0.50 (95% CI: 0.25, 0.50); the upper limit was lower than the non-inferiority margin of 5 min. In addition, there were no inferior results observed in secondary outcomes. Adamgammadex had a lower incidence of adverse drug reactions compared with sugammadex (anaphylactic reaction, recurarisation, decreased heart rate, and laryngospasm; P=0.047). CONCLUSIONS: Adamgammadex was non-inferior to sugammadex with a possible lower incidence of adverse drug reactions compared with sugammadex. Adamgammadex may have a potential advantage in terms of its overall risk-benefit profile. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, ChiCTR2000039525. RESUMEN

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) have been widely used in many disciplines and raised great concerns about their negative health impacts, especially environmental and occupational exposure. MWCNTs have been reported to induce fibrotic responses; however, the underlying mechanisms remain largely veiled. Here, we reported that MWCNTs inhalation induced lung fibrosis together with decreased lung compliance, increased elastance in the mice model, and elevated surface tension in vitro. Specifically, MWCNTs increased surface tension by impairing the function of the pulmonary surfactant. Mechanistically, MWCNTs induced lamellar body (LB) dysfunction through autophagy dysfunction, which then leads to surface tension elevated by pulmonary surfactant dysfunction in the context of lung fibrosis. This is a study to investigate the molecular mechanism of MWCNTs-induced lung fibrosis and focus on surface tension. A direct mechanistic link among impaired LBs, surface tension, and fibrosis has been established. This finding elucidates the detailed molecular mechanisms of lung fibrosis induced by MWCNTs. It also highlights that pulmonary surfactants are expected to be potential therapeutic targets for the prevention and treatment of lung fibrosis induced by MWCNTs.

RESUMEN

Bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are crucial for bone tissue regeneration, the mechanical microenvironment of hard tissues, including bone and teeth, significantly affects the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs. Biomaterials may mimic the microenvironment of the extracellular matrix and provide mechanical signals to regulate BMSCs differentiation via inducing the secretion of various intracellular factors. Biomaterials direct the differentiation of BMSCs via mechanical signals, including tension, compression, shear, hydrostatic pressure, stiffness, elasticity, and viscoelasticity, which can be transmitted to cells through mechanical signalling pathways. Besides, biomaterials with piezoelectric effects regulate BMSCs differentiation via indirect mechanical signals, such as, electronic signals, which are transformed from mechanical stimuli by piezoelectric biomaterials. Mechanical stimulation facilitates achieving vectored stem cell fate regulation, while understanding the underlying mechanisms remains challenging. Herein, this review summarizes the intracellular factors, including translation factors, epigenetic modifications, and miRNA level, as well as the extracellular factor, including direct and indirect mechanical signals, which regulate the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs. Besides, this review will also give a comprehensive summary about how mechanical stimuli regulate cellular behaviours, as well as how biomaterials promote the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs via mechanical microenvironments. The cellular behaviours and activated signal pathways will give more implications for the design of biomaterials with superior properties for bone tissue engineering. Moreover, it will also provide inspiration for the construction of bone organoids which is a useful tool for mimicking in vivo bone tissue microenvironments.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The benefits of healthy lifestyles are well recognized. However, the extent to which improving unhealthy lifestyles reduces cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk needs to be discussed. We evaluated the impact of lifestyle improvement on CVD incidence using data from the China-PAR project (Prediction for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk in China). METHODS: A total of 12,588 participants free of CVD were followed up for three visits after the baseline examination. Changes in four lifestyle factors (LFs) (smoking, diet, physical activity, and alcohol consumption) were assessed through questionnaires from the baseline to the first follow-up visit. Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The risk advancement periods (RAPs: the age difference between exposed and unexposed participants reaching the same incident CVD risk) and population-attributable risk percentage (PAR%) were also calculated. RESULTS: A total of 909 incident CVD cases occurred over a median follow-up of 11.14 years. Compared with maintaining 0-1 healthy LFs, maintaining 3-4 healthy LFs was associated with a 40% risk reduction of incident CVD (HR = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.45-0.79) and delayed CVD risk by 6.31 years (RAP: -6.31 [-9.92, -2.70] years). The PAR% of maintaining 3-4 unhealthy LFs was 22.0% compared to maintaining 0-1 unhealthy LFs. Besides, compared with maintaining two healthy LFs, improving healthy LFs from 2 to 3-4 was associated with a 23% lower risk of CVD (HR = 0.77, 95% CI: 0.60-0.98). CONCLUSIONS: Long-term sustenance of healthy lifestyles or improving unhealthy lifestyles can reduce and delay CVD risk.

RESUMEN

The nano-delivery system with a dual biomimetic effect can penetrate deeper in tumor microenvironments (TMEs) and release sufficient antitumor drugs, which has attracted much attention. In this study, we synthesized erythrocyte-like mesoporous silica nanoparticles (EMSNs) as the core loaded with doxorubicin (DOX) and coated them with calcium phosphate (CaP) and erythrocyte membrane (EM) to obtain DOX/EsPMs. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM), fluorescent co-localization and protein bands of SDS-PAGE were used to confirm the complete fabrication of EsPMs. The EsPMs with erythrocyte-like shape exhibited superior penetration ability in in vitro diffusion and tumor-sphere penetration experiments. Intracellular Ca2+ and ROS detection experiments showed that the CaP membranes of EsPMs with pH-sensitivity could provide Ca2+ continuously to induce reactive oxide species' (ROS) generation in the TME. The EM as a perfect "camouflaged clothing" which could confuse macrophagocytes into prolonging blood circulation. Hemolysis and non-specific protein adsorption tests proved the desirable biocompatibility of EsPMs. An in vivo pharmacodynamics evaluation showed that the DOX/EsPMs group had a satisfactory tumor-inhibition effect. These advantages of the nano-erythrocytes suggest that by modifying the existing materials to construct a nano-delivery system, nanoparticles will achieve a biomimetic effect from both their structure and function with a facilitated and sufficient drug release profile, which is of great significance for antitumor therapy.

OBJECTIVE: Identifying patients at high risk for cardiac arrest-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) helps in early preventive interventions. This study aimed to establish and validate a high-risk nomogram for CA-AKI. METHODS: In this retrospective dataset, 339 patients after cardiac arrest (CA) were enrolled and randomized into a training or testing dataset. The Student's t-test, non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test, or χ2 test was used to compare differences between the two groups. Optimal predictors of CA-AKI were determined using the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO). A nomogram was developed to predict the early onset of CA-AKI. The performance of the nomogram was assessed using metrics such as area under the curve (AUC), calibration curves, decision curve analysis (DCA), and clinical impact curve (CIC). RESULTS: In total, 150 patients (44.2%) were diagnosed with CA-AKI. Four independent risk predictors were identified and integrated into the nomogram: chronic kidney disease, albumin level, shock, and heart rate. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses showed that the nomogram had a good discrimination performance for CA-AKI in the training dataset 0.774 (95%CI, 0.715-0.833) and testing dataset 0.763 (95%CI, 0.670-0.856). The AUC values for the two groups were calculated and compared using the Hanley-McNeil test. No statistically significant differences were observed between the groups. The calibration curve demonstrated good agreement between the predicted outcome and actual observations. Good clinical usefulness was identified using DCA and CIC. CONCLUSION: An easy-to-use nomogram for predicting CA-AKI was established and validated, and the prediction efficiency of the clinical model has reasonable clinical practicability.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: We aimed to demonstrate the regulatory effect of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) ENAH-202 on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) development as well as its molecular mechanism. METHODS: We detected ENAH-202 expression in OSCC tissues and cell lines by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR). The biological function of ENAH-202 was assessed in vitro and in vivo using CCK-8, colony formation assays, transwell assays, xenograft formation, and tail vein injection. The further molecular mechanism by which ENAH-202 promoted OSCC progression was identified using RNA pull-down, LS-MS/MS analysis, RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP), and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays. RESULTS: ENAH-202 was significantly upregulated in OSCC tissues and cells. ENAH-202 promoted OSCC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro and in vivo. The expression of enabled homolog (ENAH) and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins was changed with the expression of ENAH-202. Moreover, ENAH-202 promoted the transcription of Vimentin (VIM) by binding with ZNF502, which can help ENAH-202 promote OSCC progression. CONCLUSIONS: ENAH-202 facilitated OSCC cell proliferation and metastasis by regulating ZNF502/VIM axis, which played an important role in OSCC progression.
